I signed up for a class and paid. When I got there, the building smelled strongly of mold, no one was there, I waited ten minutes after the time of class starting and left multiple voicemails. I never got a cancellation notice, they never called me back, and they did not refund me despite multiple requests. Incredibly unprofessional.

Great online yoga class with Mary Monday evening. I came in stressed and achy after a tense day at the keyboard. I left feeling refreshed and relaxed. And pleased at having put time to good use. Thank you, Mary and Sweetbay Yoga.

I've been practicing Ayengar yoga for over 10 years, and followed Laurel to Sweetbay from another studio. Her Zoom classes got me through the Pandemic, and now I'm a devoted Zoom student at least twice a week. This studio has made such a difference in my life, it's hard to condense into a review - but I cannot recommend it highly enough, whether you are a beginner or experienced yoga enthusiast. Your body and mind will thank you.

I have been attending the level 1-2 class for six months now. I just tried my first level 3 class. Iβd been a bit nervous to try it (and letβs be honest wake up early) so last weekβs class at 10:30 was the perfect time to try. And wow did I enjoy it! New poses, new energy, new people, and two great teachers! Thank you!!!

Sweetbay Yoga is a warm and welcoming community with amazing and caring teachers. Forget about performance, and start taking care of yourself under the guidance of Laurel and her friends. Best classes Iβve ever been to in last 15 years!

Sweetbay has a great mix of classes and serves all levels and ages. Besides Sweetbayβs classes for adults, it has a strong teen program as well as a class for teens and young adults with disabilities. The studio is bright and clean and the surrounding area is cozy, like a family room. There is a sense of community here, instilled by the down to earth owner, Laurel. Besides yoga, Laurel also shows documentaries of interest to clients at the studio and has social activities for teens sometimes. Great place all around!

After being commanded by my doctor to do more bone-strengthening exercise, I decided to try Sweetbay yoga, having heard that Iyengar yoga could be a good method. Wow! What I thought would be a do-it- because-it's-good-for-you activity turns out to be something I look forward to each week. The studio is beautifully arranged, the community is warm and welcoming and Laurel is an incredibly talented teacher. I leave class stronger in body, mind and spirit. Can't say enough good things about this wonderful studio.

I have been going to Sweetbay since it opened. Laurel is a wonderful teacher, knowledgeable and kind. Her classes are challenging but accessible. The "vibe" in the studio is warm and friendly. It is great yoga in a warm, inviting community.

I am so happy that I found Sweetbay Yoga. After taking about 8 years off, having yoga back in my life has benefitted me greatly - both physically and mentally. I am always looking forward to my next visit to Sweetbay. I love the calm feeling that I have as I am walking out of the studio after a class there. Laurel - the owner and also an amazing teacher - has done a wonderful job of creating a warm and welcoming community that is like no other. The studio is beautiful, and all the teachers are very knowledgable, helpful and welcoming no matter what your level is.

Sweetbay Yoga is truly a special place. The warm and welcoming community of dedicated practitioners, superb quality of instruction, and beautiful space in which to practice make it unique. When I moved to the area I was afraid that I wouldnβt find a studio to fit me: I wanted knowledgeable Iyengar instruction in a warm atmosphere. Laurel brings it, and more! Sheβs kind, and funny, and helpful. And while I canβt usually attend the array of community events that she hosts at the studio, they all sound fun and engaging. I, myself, stumbled upon this gem when I moved into the neighborhood. I have since recommended Sweetbay to a number of friends, none of whom have been disappointed.

This is a wonderful place. The studio has great Feng shui π. Itβs also one of the few in the area that focuses on real yoga instruction and not the aerobic version that isnβt really yoga. Iβve just discovered this place. And I love it.

I'd been working at a particular pose for years, but it wasn't until I came to Sweetbay that I got the guidance and confidence to fully commit to it. I can now hold salamba sirsasana (headstand) for over a minute, which I never thought would be possible. Thanks to Laurel's patient and understanding nature, I've come to learn that some things are worth trying over and over. Namaste!

As someone who has practiced yoga for 40 years, it is rare to find a new studio that perks my interest. Laurel has created both a welcoming studio with excellent teachers as well as a community of individuals who share many of the same values. Kudos to Laurel!

I was a vendor at the last Holiday Bazar that Laurel organized at Sweetbay. I canβt speak highly enough of her (generous, pleasant) and of her space (luminous, clean). I wished I lived closer so I could move my yoga practice there.

Sweetbay Yoga is such a gem in Bethesda. I have been taking classes from Laurel for years. She is without a doubt the best fitness teacher I have ever taken a class from. I had tried yoga many times but it wasn't for me until I experienced the Iyengar method and met Laurel! Her studio is warm and inviting and the community she has built is supportive and fun.

Sweet bay has such a calm environment. Itβs great for beginners because they provide all of the necessary materials for the classes (mats, bulsters, blocks...). I leave the classes feeling stretched out, tired but also energized and feeling good about myself!

The best yoga instruction Iβve ever had. Goal is to build strength and focus, not race through poses like an aerobics class. Great attention to working around injuries from other sports and protecting against yoga injuries. Nurturing community.

Favorite place to flow. One of Bethesda's best yoga studios at the Westbard shopping center. They have a lot of fun props and cozy equipment to include lots of blankets, bolsters, straps, and wall ropes. All of their instructors are amazing, too.

I started going to Sweetbay Yoga about 2 years ago and immediately loved the vibe of the studio and the people that I met in various classes. Since then I have gone to some of the weekend workshops - and am excited about doing more. The teachers are great and the studio itself is inviting and peaceful.

Sweetbay is the best Iyengar yoga studio in the DC metro area. Laurel Goeke, the director and owner of Sweetbay, studies yoga methodologies and continues to build her own practice and teaching programs. All the teachers at Sweetbay are well trained, intelligent, and artful instructors. Laurel also builds community and support for her students. There are many workshops, field trips, art events that bring our yoga community together. Sweetbay Yoga and Laurel have so enriched my life.

I was visiting the Chevy Chase area for the weekend. After researching various yoga studio's in the area, I opted to go to the Saturday morning Yoga 1 Class taught by Donna, who I believe was a substitute teacher. The class was phenomenal. It definitely suited my level of Yoga experience. The space was peaceful and welcoming, and Donna was simply outstanding. I liked it so much, I went back the following morning and took another class! Will definitely be taking classes here again the next time I'm in the area. Thank you!

Sweetbay Yoga is a remarkable place and has had a significant impact on my life. Challenging and fun!
Laurel Goeke, owner and master teacher, connects easily with people and creates a warm and safe environment to expand awareness, try new things, and train the body. She and the other teachers are very sensitive to the specific goals and physical frailties of each student. Beginners and seasoned yogis, young and no-longer young, spiritual and scientific sorts, all mix in this vibrant community!

I highly recommend sweetbay yoga! Wherever you are in your practice you will find your place at sweetbay. I hadn't done yoga in a while when I came to sweetbay and I was challenged as well as motivated to continue my yoga practice again. Laurel was teaching the class and she is incredibly knowledgeable but also brings a fun light element into the class.
