Working out with Chris Swift has been a real game changer. I've had chronic low back pain for over 15 years, and it would often flare when I tried in increase my training. After working with Chris for about a year and a half, we've found the source of the problem and I've been pain-free for months. I have so much more mobility now and can do things in the gym (and in my regular day-to-day life) that I had written off as impossible. I had just accepted that I'd always have some degree of pain, but now I'm so comfortable and getting so much stronger! It took awhile to figure out the source of my pain, but Chris never gave up on me. I'm so glad I found this gym.
Bonus - the coffee machine is outstanding and always stocked with fresh beans and cold milk.

I’ve been attending group classes at Swift Fitness twice a week for the past two months, and the progress I’ve made has genuinely surprised me. I came in with no prior gym experience, minimal understanding of workout equipment, and a long history of neck pain stemming from a sedentary lifestyle. My goal was simply to move more, but the results have far exceeded that.

From day one I was welcomed into a very supportive, no-pressure environment. In two months I’ve become notably stronger. I’m now using weights and performing workouts I never thought possible. I have been going to Swift Fitness Gym for a month and it’s been a fantastic experience. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything you need; whether you’re into weightlifting, cardio, group classes, or functional training.

I started a group class with Emily as the trainer and I must say she’s friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to assist with the equipment. When I first started I couldn’t lift a thing but as I progressed I am proud to say my weight-lift tolerance and strength have significantly increased.

Emily is very professional and approachable. She gives you workouts based on your ability and increases the weights and workouts as your strength increases. I especially appreciate the bike warm ups, strength training, bench press and other machine based exercises.

The gym atmosphere is both motivating and welcoming, no matter your fitness level. Highly recommended for anyone looking to level up their fitness in a supportive, clean, and well-equipped environment!

When I first started working with Chris, the pain in my hip had progressed to the point that it caused numbness all the way down to my knee, and walking was becoming a challenge. Chris’s deep understanding of rehabilitation allowed him to tailor the sessions precisely to my needs. He knows when to push for progress and when to let my body heal. When I first came to Swift Fitness, I had no idea what to expect. Keeping an open mind, I started my sessions with Chris. It was definitely challenging, but I appreciated the effort to push myself to new limits.

Even though I was not able to continue my sessions originally, I still came back and did them with Emily who fit within my schedule. Just had my first session with Kayla, and look forward to many more to come! I had so much fun being challenged by her while having such genuinely enjoyable conversation that the hour session flew by so fast. I have never had 60 minutes fly by like that while working out, which just goes to show what a great energy she is to have alongside you during your workouts. Her upbeat energy and music selection had me pumped up, no pre-workout needed! She was very considerate of my unique concerns. I shared I had problems related to hypermobility and limitations due to past physical traumas/competitive sports. She made sure to curate a personalized workout that not only addressed my areas of concerns, but worked on them in a way that was both gentle and challenging, making me feel empowered and limitless. I’ve been training with Chris for 4 years. It’s honestly hard to remember and I get surprised every time I remember how long I’ve been training with him because it’s so fun. I started with my husband and friend but now I have more friends that I made in other group sessions too. I started with once a week and changed to twice a week after three years. I look forward to the trainings every time, not only because it makes me feel good physically but also because I love feeling the sense of community Chris created for the people who train with him. I never thought I’d do personal training sessions more than a year because I already have a gym membership at a local climbing gym but I’m so glad I’m still here after 4 years and twice a week. Because I am so much stronger than before I started training with him. Every time I get injured, he comes up with a personalized rehab routine I can use outside of the trainings as well—my recovery is faster and I feel stronger afterwards.

It’s been a year and a half since I moved to Gaithersburg in Maryland.
Before joining Swift Fitness, I always struggled to stay motivated at the gym. I would sign up for memberships that I never really used, or I’d join crowded group classes where it was hard for the coaches to give us the right attention. Because I wasn’t performing the movements correctly, I even ended up with a foot fracture once.

When I started looking for a gym about a year ago, I was searching for something different something more personalized. That’s when I discovered Swift Fitness on Instagram. I was impressed by the concept of small group training, with dedicated coaches guiding you through each movement in a kind and supportive way. I decided to sign up, and I was pleasantly surprised.

From the very beginning, the atmosphere and human connection stood out. Everyone is so welcoming, friendly, and motivating that it made me actually want to come to my workouts with joy and excitement.

In terms of training, I’ve noticed real improvements in my strength, flexibility, and overall toning. Chris pays attention to every detail, designs every workout with precision and variety, so I always feel challenged in new ways and continue to make progress.

Now, at 8 months pregnant, I’ve been able to continue training throughout my pregnancy. Thanks to Chris, I’ve safely done weight training and stretching, and I’ve even learned movements I had never done at other gyms. I sleep better, I feel stronger, and my body feels great.

Honestly, if I ever leave Maryland for work opportunities, Swift Fitness will be the thing I miss the most. It’s a unique concept that I had never experienced anywhere else, and it has truly changed my relationship with fitness.

I use to go to orange theory for a while. I thought I liked it until I brought my daughter to Chris. It wasn’t until I developed shoulder pain at orange theory that Chris convinced me to give his workouts a try and he was sure he could fix my shoulder. Within a few weeks my shoulder was fixed and I fell in love with his process. Give up the cookie cutter workout places and go put in some real work!!!

chris might as well be a physical therapist at this point. I am a competitive diver and when I came to him I had back and shoulder pain. In a few weeks my pain was gone and i was getting really really strong. Unfortunately, in my diving season I tore the ligament in my wrist. I went to physical therapy and it got slightly better but when I was discharged I was still in a lot of pain. I went back to Chris and he was able to get me out of pain and to a point where I could compete again. I am highly appreciative of him for his attention to detail and how he doesn’t just give you random exercises. I highly recommend to anyone who is in pain or plays a sport.

I’ve been at Swift for 7 months and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. Emily took the time my first few sessions to discuss my goals and ask about any problem areas. She checks in regularly during class to make sure I am not in pain, takes time to demonstrate (more than once) exercises, and offers modifications whenever needed. I’ve always had trouble with my knees, but I can see the progress I’ve made in how I feel and how much easier it is to get off the floor. I started training with Matt at Swift Fitness about three months ago and I have never been more impressed with a personal trainer in my life (I am not saying this for dramatic effect, I genuinely mean it). Matt took the time to learn about me and my goals, and then created a personalized and targeted workout program specifically to meet my needs. He is not just some “gym bro” who stands by and watches you lift weights, he is thoroughly educated on all topics relating to fitness and health and it shows in his training style. I was incredibly impressed with the progress I made in such a short time frame by following his training guidance and instructions. I’ve been working with Chris for almost a year, and it’s been a truly transformative experience. My case is unusual: a shoulder replacement that required eight surgeries, leaving me with less than one rotator cuff, a new shoulder implant, and no muscle, strength, or range of motion due to a severe infection.
Doctors told me I’d never get more than 90 degrees of forward flexion and 30 degrees of external rotation. Even worse, it was my dominant arm. I couldn’t even shave my legs or wash my other arm. I was in constant pain and needed help with basic tasks. I started to accept this as my new reality.

From the first session, it was clear that Chris had a strong grasp of exercise science and proper form and, more importantly, he knew exactly what he was doing. He designed a creative, challenging, and personalized workout plan, adjusting it to fit my specific needs. After just a few sessions, I began noticing small improvements in my range of motion, strength, and even pain levels.

Beyond his technical expertise, Chris motivated and supported me every step of the way. He pushed me past what I thought were my limits, celebrated my progress, and encouraged me through setbacks. Thanks to his dedication and personalized approach, I exceeded my initial goals and even more, gained confidence, and truly appreciated his constant positivity. Swift Fitness is the best! Chris is the best trainer ever!! I don’t train with him anymore since i moved but he has forever changed the way I train. He doesn’t just give you workouts for the sake of having you move around like most places. He takes a very methodical approach when dealing with you. I’m so use to most places just writing the “workout of the day” on a white board for everyone to follow. After you train with chris you realize you werent actually getting personal training any these other gyms. It is fascinating how chris is able to cater and accomodate to everyone at such a high level. Yes, the hype is real. Chris is an excellent trainer and an overall amazing person. Four months ago, I came to SF to work on my postpartum body. I’m a generally athletic person, so I really thought I would just stay for a month, learn what I needed, and move onto working out by myself. But his skills, personality, and the way he blends up a workout keeps me coming back. Now, I can’t imagine not being at SF every week. He is thorough, knows when to push you, knows when to pull back, and has helped me work through & prevent injuries from rock climbing. I’ve asked him a bijillion questions about the science behind each exercise, and every time, he blows me away with his knowledge and the way he’s able to explain it so I can understand. I feel incredibly safe and confident in his hands. Of course, I have seen results in my appearance, but the best part of this journey has been the change in my self-esteem postpartum. I feel like the strongest, most badass mom, and in total awe of what my body is capable of. SF showed me that. I've been training with Emily for a couple years and love working with her! I am in a group class, which is not your typical group fitness. Everyone does their own circuit and works on their own goals.
I had never done strength training with barbells before and am amazed at how much I can do with Emily's guidance. I definitely push harder in her gym than when I work out alone because I trust that she knows my limits and won't risk an injury, but won't let me avoid putting in the work either. She is a great trainer and I recommend her to anyone looking to increase their strength or general fitness.

Have been training with Emily for a couple of years now and it has been a really positive experience. I have tried a number of workout routines so I did not feel like I needed personal training but my wife convinced me to try it with her and I was not prepared for how much I enjoyed it. Having someone plan the workout was a nice break as I got to focus just on working hard during the workout instead of what I was supposed to do next. I also got the opportunity to use different equipment and try different exercises than I do at my gym or at home. This really helped me in the rest of my workouts as I realized that I was capable of a lot more than I was comfortable doing without supervision. I was able to take that into the rest of my workouts and have seen incredible results. I highly recommend the group classes for everyone as it is an incredibly cheap way to get a personal training experience and see if it is something you can benefit from. I especially recommend if you are new and want to get into lifting/resistance training or if have any sort of injury or mobility issues to work around as Emily is fantastic at finding ways to still get a good workout regardless.

Doctors suspected SLAP tear in shoulder after 6 months of pain following snowboarding accident and said it would most likely require surgery with 6 month recovery in a sling. Went to Chris for the free consultation/workout session and 6 months of pain was gone overnight. Cannot express how grateful I was.

2 years later had a nasty shoulder dislocation from a rock climbing fall. Doctors said even more likely I’ll need a reconstructive surgery now especially because of my previous suspected issues. Didn’t even bother going to get the MRI they signed me up for, went straight to Chris and once again he got me fixed up way faster than I imagined. Back to lifting and doing sports. This is the place to go if you want to do two things:

I dealt with a knee issue for a while. Chris was able to get rid of the pain literally within 2 weeks which is crazy given I was going to physical therapy for months.

I had have been dealing with a wrist injury from a dog bite. This is where chris shines. He has a very creative approach to training and will make sure you get stronger WHILE working around your injury.

Chris is not a regular personal trainer. He is next level and if you are currently searching for a trainer i highly recommend you stop and just book a session with him. You wont regret it.

I came to Chris with shoulder issues after years of playing baseball. The workouts that he put me through were very unique and helpful in my recovery. After about 2 months of going to him, my shoulders are back to normal. I've been working with Matt for 4 months now, twice a week and it's been one of the best decisions I've made for myself. I started private 1:1 sessions with Chris in March 2023. Within 2 months, Chris has changed my attitude towards working out and becoming healthier while helping me become more confident.
When I first started, I was not able to do a single push up or hang from a bar for even a second. And this week, I was able to do 10 push ups with no assistance (I think I could have done more!) and hang for 15 seconds.

Chris has been absolutely amazing in trying to understand my goals and my limitations. I have medical restrictions that prevent me from putting too much pressure on my abs. Chris took this piece of information and ran with different ideas to help me get stronger, healthier, and ultimately help me lose weight; all without not letting my medical restriction get in the way.

Chris is empathetic and understands when to push you. He understood the reality that I am just looking to get healthier and stronger, not become a fitness guru. He takes this into account when pushing me to give me all but within limits. In fact, when I asked to increase the number of workouts, Chris was realistic and helping me understand that it isn’t sustainable long term and instead encouraged me to add more cardio and improve my diet. Keep in mind, more sessions means more money for him but he didn’t care about that!

Within the last two months, my wife and my sister have also become clients of Chris. They also would speak highly of Chris! But most importantly, the icing on the cake is that Chris sometimes bring his dog Tony to the gym.

So, if you’re looking for a trainer (or to just play with a cute dog), go to Chris. I promise you won’t regret it.

Early last year, I suffered a rotator cuff injury. I couldn't carry anything heavy and could not move my arm to all positions without pain. I went for physical therapy for 4 months but there saw absolutely no improvement. I even changed therapists but no improvement. I then went to Chris. I started coming to Swift Fitness in September 2020. I really didn't exercise much in the past, and was looking to lose weight and gain stamina. Chris' help was invaluable: he taught me about macros so that I could make some healthy adjustments to my diet, and worked with me every time I came in to make sure I was doing exercises with the proper form and pushing myself to constantly raise my own bar. In the past, I've also gotten bored of exercising, but this never happened during my time at Swift Fitness; even if I didn't like certain exercises, Chris made sure to rotate tons of exercises and variations, so each day felt unique. With his support, I was able to lose 30 pounds and accumulate the tools to lose even more. Now that I'm in college, I'm looking forward to taking the skills I've learned to continue exercising regularly and eating healthy — and I'm excited to go back to Swift Fitness with my family whenever I go home to visit!

I started working out with Swift Fitness in December 2019. I didn’t really work out much prior but I liked that he had his own private studio and was able to offer me a session soon after contacting him. He’s professional, knows what he’s doing, and really cool to workout with too. It is now March 2021 and I never thought I’d love the gym or be this strong ever!
