The Bar Method Baltimore - Locust Point is a boutique fitness studio offering barre classes for students of all levels. The signature method uses your own body weight, the ballet barre and a few props to create a transformative workout that results in long, lean sculpted muscles. Not only does it reshape your entire body, but it allows you to channel your inner strength and leave class feeling strong, confident and poised. Highly-trained instructors customize the exercises to ensure they are safe and effective for any age and every body, including modifications for pregnant women and students with injuries. I am happy for all those who love the workouts and the whole atmosphere of this studio. I tried this method twice on two complete different workouts and it was tough to keep up with the exercises. I may not be in the same shape as the other members and I am definitely older. However, I was still hoping to like it and stick with it. That did not happen.

This studio is a whole community of movement and fun focused individuals who never fail to encourage you and call you by name. The teachers are skilled and provide guidance and direction easily, and the variety of classes and movements within the classes keep things new and exciting every class. The best fitness studio I have ever gone to! Before trying The Bar Method, I struggled to find effective and safe exercise that was also regularly engaging. I am so grateful to have found this studio to fill that niche. The instructors are welcoming, knowledgeable, and encouraging. The exercises scratch my competitive itch with challenge options, but I feel no pressure to push myself past what I am capable of and am also reassured that instructors will make sure my form is correct to prevent any potential injury. I love the variety of class formats and times offered — I never would’ve thought I’d be an early morning workout person but the instructors and classes here have made me one! I ultimately chose The Bar Method because I feel like my safety is prioritized with personalized adjustments throughout the class, the studio is clean and welcoming, and there are always challenge options and modifications available. This place is the absolute BEST workout experience and honestly feels like my second home!! I got into a car accident last summer and needed to modify a LOT once I got back to my classes. The staff and other clients were so welcoming and eager to help out. They were there with tons of support, words of encouragement, and extra props! If it hadn’t been for Caity (instructor) I probably would have quit during the summer because I was being way too hard on myself and she reminded me I needed to give myself grace while I healed. Not once did anyone at this studio make me feel bad about myself for modifying or needing extra props for support. I’ve been to other places where I was judged and/or treated badly for needing extra support/help. Everyone here just wants you to have a safe, enjoyable workout. I’m about to take my 1,000th class before the year ends and I never thought I’d stick with any type of workout for that long! The fact that I’m about to celebrate that milestone shows how amazing and special this studio, the staff, and the other clients are. You definitely need to come check them out!

I go to classes 3-4x per week and never get bored - they offer different types of classes (express, strength, cardio, restore), and each instructor has a unique style and music to keep you motivated. Plus, the studio regularly gamifies your workouts to help motivate you (who doesn't love earning stickers and free socks), and they host free events, partnering with Dry Bar, or making our own flower bouquets to take home.

Simply the best! I love a barre workout and have been doing them at various studios in other areas over the years. The Bar Method’s approach is all about proper form and positioning to safely maximize your workout, and it really makes a different. After doing ballet through most of my childhood, I found myself really drawn to the barre workout (though barre is not just for dancers!! 😊). I have done barre at several locally owned studios in various places I have lived and have really valued the tight-knit community at each studio, so I was hesitant to try a "chain" barre studio. I moved to Baltimore for school last year and tried out Bar Method Baltimore, and it did not disappoint! I love this studio! The staff is so welcoming and friendly. They recently added two new class formats, cardio and strength and I’ve been enjoying both of them! I recently added a weekly cardio class to my workout lineup because I need to get more cardio in but I absolutely hate running. Abby’s Monday cardio class can be challenging but is always fun! The entire team is welcoming, the environment is comfortable, and the overall feeling of community coupled with challenging workouts that are never the same will keep you coming back for more. The classes can be as hard as you want to make them, but the incredible instructors provide safe, personalized options that meet you where you are on your fitness journey. They've recently expanded the types of classes offered, so there's something for everybody. And if you're the type who likes to reward yourself with some cute workout outfits, fun gifts or class packs, they carry brands like Beyond Yoga, Tavi and Lanston, and often have sales and membership specials (which you can learn about if you follow them on Instagram).

I found the Bar Method by total chance and am so glad I did! I was hesitant at first since I have no background in dancing & wasn't sure it would be what I was looking for. By the time I tried The Bar Method, I had already taken a lot of barre classes, so I thought I knew what I was doing. However, at my first class, the instructor was able to give me suggestions to improve my form. The Bar Method's emphasis on form not only makes the exercises more effective but makes them safer for my body. I think the quality of instruction at The Bar Method really separates this studio from the others. The Bar Method's location is not the most convenient for someone living in Canton, but the classes are certainly worth the drive.

I’ve been going to Bar Method since they opened their doors in 2018 and I have to say, the past three years have been nothing short of wonderful. Even during a global pandemic, the owner, Ally, and instructors pivoted so quickly to virtual to ensure we all had classes to take right away. They were also extremely communicative and reassuring the entire time.
Clients are always their top priority and they cultivate a community of women who empower other women (all are welcome though!!) Decided to try the Bar Method Baltimore after my studio closed. Wow! was all I could think walking through the door for that first class. Everyone is friendly. Its an inclusive environment where all are welcome. Any questions/concerns/form checks are addressed right away. Ally has created a community of positive people. Baltimore is a lovely studio inside and out. I only wish it was a shorter drive.
The workouts are great. The teachers dont miss a thing yet are kind in correcting form.

I have always struggled to maintain a workout routine. My. Whole. Life! Well, I have now been a member of The Bar Method for over 2 years and I have taken over 300 classes. Here are some specifics of why this place is so amazing: the instructors are super meticulous to form and making sure that every move you do is perfect in order to be most effective to results and safest for your body over time, the workouts are reasonable time length and hit every muscle in your body, you WILL see changes in your body and overall physical and mental health, the classes are challenging no matter what your fitness level but there are modifications for everyone so ANYONE can do it. I am a physician and mom to 2 little boys. I started my membership during my post-part in fitness journey with #1 and once I lost all the weight and was in great physical shape, I did it all again and managed to do classes through the entirety of my second pregnancy-literally taking my last class the week before baby came-and as soon as I was cleared I was back at it. I have never once felt out of place or intimidated. The instructors and staff are amazingly friendly and truly foster a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere. Can’t say enough good things about this place. If you are at all on the fence or just trying to find a routine or happy place, look no further and give it a try!

I was brought as a guest to The Bar Method class and enjoyed it so much I immediately signed up for a membership! The instructors constantly are checking your form to make sure that you are in the best position so as not to injure yourself and to get the best workout in. I have taken classes with the Bar Method for almost 3 years. The Bar Method provides a fun, challenging, low impact work out that can be modified for all levels of fitness. All classes are excellent, but level 2 (Bar Advanced) is my favorite! I always have exercised regularly, but I have noticed more benefit with regards to muscle toning from the Bar Method than from any other work out in my adult life. Bar Method actually makes me look forward to working out! The entire staff is friendly and welcoming and the instructors are hands on. I can never slack off during a workout! Highly recommend this location as all the instructors provide equally challenging and motivating classes.

I’ve been coming to this Bar Method Studio since Aug ‘18, and Ally and her team have created a welcoming community for everyone. The knowledge and hands on corrections are unique to the Bar Method, and they give everyone attention throughout class to ensure an effective and safe workout. I started doing Bar at a competitor 3 years ago around DC, but they didn’t have the same attention to corrections and knowing everyone names like this studio. To top it off, the space is beautiful from the actual studios to the locker room with lots of Aveda products.

The bar method is great! While a low impact workout it is still very challenging. As the studio grows more class levels and options are being added so the challenge is never ending. The studio is beautiful and the staff are so friendly and helpful- they make you feel at home! They are also great with modifications due to injuries and are a judgement free zone. I definitely recommend it!

The Bar Method is a seriously amazing place! Not only is it a great workout where I've quickly seen results, but the community there is amazing. Each and every one of the instructors and front-desk staff are always warm and welcoming, taking the time to really connect and engage with their customers. I started going to the studio this winter and have been to a number of classes and am still impressed that no two have been the same! From the up-beat music and sparkling clean space, there is always high energy from the teachers and staff and I look forward to the "shake and burn" that I feel every class! So lucky to have found such an amazing community to be a part of!

I’ve been coming here since they opened their new location in Locust Point last spring. I find the instructors to be very friendly and knowledgeable. I have a health condition that makes some workout classes difficult to do, but the ladies at Bar Method are great at offering modifications to make the class a great workout.

I love the studio, and the instructors are all so kind and welcoming. They can modify the movements infinitely to accommodate physical limitations. Each class is different, and you can come every day of the week and never take the same class twice. It's a great workout for anyone, and I recommend it to everyone.

I started Bar Method back in January on a whim. “Hey, it’s so close to home, there’s a great holiday deal, why not?” Well, I kept coming back and back and back...now I’m a full Club Bar member and have no regrets. The space is absolutely beautiful. Everything is always immaculate and clean. Everything smells amazing (those candles tho, I want them all). It’s like the chic studio of my dreams.
On top of that, the staff is amazing. Everyone knows your name from almost the moment you step into class. They take the time to make sure you’re in the right positions and doing the exercises in the most effective ways. But they also allow you to take things at your own pace. Heck, I could barely hold a true plank when I started and now I can do a full plank for ALMOST the whole plank time.
Bar Method is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a low-impact and super satisfying way to work out.
PS: great to keep on top of stretching too. I feel so limber nowadays.

I got hooked after my first class and love the studio! The teachers are all very welcoming and work with you to make sure you get the most effective workout. I always have my form corrected and am so impressed by how the teachers are paying attention to each person throughout the class. Since starting, I have definitely noticed more lean muscle definition and increased strength. Between the sparkling clean studio, great music, and positive attitude of everyone at the studio I am excited for each upcoming class!

I LOVE The Bar Method – I started taking classes in late 2018 after having fallen in a workout slump and was hoping to find something new. After my first class I was easily re-inspired to get back into a routine and really welcomed the challenge of each class. I saw physical improvement rather quickly and embraced the confidence boost and mental escape it provided. I've been going to The Bar Method for around 1.5 years and still love going to class. It is the only workout I have been consistent with and I have tried many other studios. The instructors are awesome and are always helpful with correcting your form. Most importantly, I have seen amazing results going 3-4 times per week (as my only exercise) and I can do real push ups now!

I first came to The Bar Method for a bar basics class in their old community space. I was hooked. I've now been a client for over a year and couldn't be happier with the decision to join. Unlike other barre studios, the teachers here really have an understanding of how the workout impacts and helps your body to grow and become stronger. You can really see how well trained every teacher is. They're hands-on adjustments ensure that you're both maximizing your workout, but more importantly, not hurting yourself.

I tried this studio on an introductory deal and have loved every minute of it! The classes are great and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating! The class times throughout the day are convenient before and after work and the studio has everything you need to go straight from class to work. They have been adding more varied classes too which are new, challenging and fun!

I finally have my pre baby body back!! I've been doing The Bar Method since October and I have completely quit every other kind of resistance workouts. I've tried so many programs (circuits, HIIT, weight lifting) and The Bar Method is what has finally given me my pre baby body back--and then some! Cant recommend them enough. What I love the most compared to other barre programs is the focus on form and proper alignment. The instructors here are amazing at catering the class to your physical capability. They are also super sweet and always friendly. The music is always upbeat and I find myself singing and tucking to the music! No background in dance needed, but I love that I allows me to feel like the little ballerina I was when I was little. Keep up the great work ladies!

I can not say enough good things about the Bar Method Baltimore! As a new mama who tried lots of different fitness routines to shed the baby weight, from home workout videos to other group fitness classes, nothing was sticking. Since the Bar Method Baltimore has childcare, I decided to give it a try. Not only am I finally BELOW my pre-baby weight, but I feel stronger and more confident than ever! I impress myself now with my strength, flexibility, and my stamina to keep up with one tornado of a toddler!
As far as barre classes go, I have experienced many other franchises in the area, and the Bar Method Baltimore is by far superior! There is certainly a well thought out method! Each instructor is meticulous about form to ensure that you get the very most out of your class without compensating any joint or body health. I’ve brought lots of friends to class from fitness junkies to my mom (who I love but is not very incredibly fitness inclined), and every single person has loved the class! It is challenging but doable for every fitness level.
From the very first class, I was greeted with friendly smiles and people that knew my name and cared to get to know me and my little guy! Not only have I found my niche in the fitness world, but I have found a new community of friends that love both me and my son!
As a physician, mom, and woman, I highly recommend the Bar Method Baltimore! 6/5 stars!! If you are still reading, definitely definitely DEFINITELY check it out! And thanks for reading a 4 paragraph rating! :-)

I love Bar Method. I like to mix up my higher impact/cardio workouts with Bar Method a few days per week- it’s so restorative. I actually started doing it while pregnant when I couldn’t run anymore, and I have found it to be a perfect pregnancy and post-partum workout. (Maybe TMI, but I definitely think the muscle training helped during labor.) And the added bonus now? They offer childcare (we have had the sweetest babysitters) for select AM classes through a partnership with NAPP.

I thought this whole idea for a workout program was going to be super intimidating, especially for someone with zero dance background - but The Bar Method has been amazing! All of the instructors are warm, welcoming and ready to lead an amazing (and difficult) workout. They also are extremely vigilant about making sure everyone is in the correct form to avoid injuries and give modifications (which as someone who has a lot of sports injuries really appreciates). Cannot speak highly enough about how much I love it here!

I've been a Bar Method patron since their temporary space in Fells Point and have always found the staff to be inviting, friendly, and very accommodating. The minute you walk through the front doors you are welcomed by the smiling front desk staff and the serene studio space. The instructors provide hands on adjustments and verbal cues to make sure you are using the proper form. If you aren't sure if you are doing a move correctly, they are willing to stay after class to help you understand the move. I was intimidated by the adjustments and precise movements at first, but I quickly learned how much impact the slightest tweak to your posture or foot position can make. Bonus: The Bar Method has a great selection of retail to keep you looking stylish while you shake.

Can't say enough fantastic things! It is such a warm, inviting space - everyone makes an effort to make you feel welcome and they somehow always know your name! It is the only studio I have ever been to where every teacher pays close attention to everyone to ensure that you are doing every move correctly and always makes adjustments - but they do so in a way that is genuinely to help you vs. making you feel self conscious about it.
