Impressively well equipped gym, professional staff, particularly their rockwall team, consistently kept clean, good communication through their notification system and all at an affordable rate. They have multiple power racks with high-quality lifting platforms, too. Highly recommended!

This YMCA is absolutely abysmal. Not only are the weekend hours terrible (close at 7), but the holiday hours are even worse (close at 12). Beyond that, half the parking lot has been closed for the past three months and now signs have been put up on 10-15 spaces on the side thatβs open, closing even more spaces as well. This has made going absolutely miserable as the parking lot is completely full at almost every time of day. This was also done right after they raised their membership fee which is completely ridiculous.
People are always sitting on machines on their phones or talking to each other rather than actually working out, no one puts anything away when theyβre done using it, and the people using the basketball courts are literally screaming with no regard for anyone else. While I concede thatβs more of an issue with the patrons rather than management, the parking situation and the terrible hours are both in the directors control.

I am a Nationwide traveler and I have only experience professionalism here. I enjoy the morning water aerobics and Tai Chi classes with Mr. Charlie. They all recognize new comers and will not leave you behind in class instructions. Equipment is not only wiped down by some of the members but I have seen the staff also cleaning the machines. I also enjoy the coffee/tea area that is always brewing and having a place to sit and enjoy and meet new friends or just read a book in between classes.

We love this Y - we mostly use it for family activities like swimming or the rock climbing wall. How amazing for a Y to have a climbing wall! We also lean heavily on their camps which are great and we love the Parents Night Out when we can get in. The Y really seems to support families and we so appreciate it.

I can't give this gym five stars because of two main reasons, (1) there are waaay tooo many 5- to 8-year olds on actual adult equipment. The kids are unsupervised, running around, misusing the equipment, and playing on the equipment because they are too young to actually use it, and (2) the staff doesn't really know what's going on and can't answer any questions. But I absolutely π― love the facility. I come when I know there are no young children and that's been better. I don't use the showers, so I don't have to be around the areas that other people are complaining about in other reviews. Overall a good choice!

Class schedule is diverse and the spread throughout the day is pretty good.... I wish there were more Saturday afternoon classes but loving the addition of the Sunday late AM Body Pump class. The Y in Arnold is the only gym near us where I can exercise with my two kids. We really enjoy using the lap pool and itβs great that our Y put a bubble on the outdoor pool so it can be used all year long. I joined the Arnold Y a couple of years ago, and I had shared a positive review at that time, based upon my initial impression. Unfortunately, as a senior member, I have had some health challenges, so I was unable to use the facilities. My last visit was in March of 2024.
But be aware, it is much easier to join the Y than to discontinue your membership. This is typical of some gyms, but I had higher expectations for the Y. I called by phone and was told I had to come in person to discontinue my membership, even though I explained why that was difficult for me.
I considered sending a certified letter, but when I called again, I was told to contact customer service by email, so I scoured the website again to locate that contact information.
They sent an email response, acknowledging I had not been able to use the facilities for many months, but they still insisted on withdrawing a payment for January of 2025.
So just beware. The pool was nice but they are not nimble or understanding of any personal circumstances or hardship.
Update: I was told in December that they could waive my fees for January. When they did not do so & my account was charged again, I wrote reviews. Only then did they respond and finally processed a refund, which I did receive today.

New year, new Y! Iβm so pleasantly surprised with the makeover they gave the Y. Newer more comfy machines, new upholstery on machines that were previously torn and worn down. Now, as opposed to previously having one row seat, one chest press, etc, resulting in wait times for machines, they now have several, as well as several new pull down and cable machines in addition to a new squat stand with cables. They also revamped their floor area so people now have a designated soft area for mats and stretching. Everything is a bit more organized in terms of what machines make sense where. I do still have one critique and that is that the back of glute kick back machine is directly facing whoever is sitting on pull down machine is looking directly at your butt. Feels a little exposed and may do better slightly angled for privacy. Also, the glute machine has nice new upholstery but the place to rest your core is still wobbly and doesnβt hold, always falls down after pressure. Thank you to everyone at the Y who is friendly and gives a warm welcome when you walk in!!

I broke my nose at The Y in Arnold and not a single staff member acknowledged me, asked me if I was okay, or offered me ice as I was very VISIBLY INJURED. I was bleeding everywhere, crying, and holding my nose with a paper towel to stop the bleeding. I never felt more disappointed in my life. The fact that your staff ignored me completely when I was visibly injured is appalling.

I have been a member for almost 4 years. Mainly use the pool. They have great water aerobics instructors and classes 6 days a week. Unfortunately, the pool has been out of service more than usual due to chemical imbalance or pool equipment failures. Also, they have been short-staffed on life guards numerous occasions this summer. Which means if there are 25 people in the pool no more can be allowed in, until someone leaves. These issues need to be addressed.

This why is worse than any gym Iβve ever been at. One of the employees was extremely rude to my children and wouldnβt take my bribe of one candy bar. Who is being very ageist because he did not let my children in due to their age. This is a violation of the 27th amendment in the US constitution. I feel very threatened by this ymca, as it is revoking my rights as an American citizen. I will be canceling this membership and telling all my friends to cancel theirs and weβre going to go to other gyms. They were also playing inappropriate music with absolutely profane and despicable language such as but, poopoo, and mean. The teenagers that work here are an insult to this US society that we have built
From ground up. According to Martin Luther King Jr. speech, we should have freedom which they are not giving us. This is also included in the 67th verse in the constitution line 6 or second sentence. I feel personally attacked that people like this live in the same universe as me. I have attached a photo of the person who has treated us this way.

My experience at the Y is becoming very frustrating. My son and his friends come to the Y just about everyday. They workout and use the basketball court. However, my son and his friends has made it known and asked why are the rims not been replaced or fixed. This is upsetting our children coming to the Y yet again to broken equipment. The broken rim is a liability and can harms someone. I am worried the Y does not care about our youth in our community. This is not just for leisure time but an amazing curriculum activity that can lead into an opportunity of a lifetime. Itβs been months and weβre still getting unanswered questions. We pay for our sons to go to the Y because itβs safe but at this time itβs unpleasant and the customer service is dismissive. I expected change soon.

UNHELPFUL AND UNFRIENDLY STAFF - I came to this location to try a pilates / yoga class. I checked in at the front desk and told the 2 people there that it was my first time at the Arnold location and I was there for the yoga/pilates class. I asked where the locker room is and where the class is held. The front staff were the most unhelpful people I have ever interacted with. The lady at the desk just pointed in the general direction of the locker room and said it's that way. I asked where the class is and she told me a room # (which means nothing when I have never been in the building before). I walked in the direction that the lady pointed and did not see the locker room. I walked back and asked again. I had to wait for the 2 people to finish talking to each other to be able to ask again where the locker room is, and again, the lady pointed. By this time I was frustrated and asked "down the stairs, up the stairs, left hall, right hall, where is it because I didn't see it, and again, I have never been here before." Finally, the gentleman at the desk gave me specific directions: down the steps, left hallway, 2nd door (still refusing to leave the desk and show me). At least his directions were accurate and I found it, which only has a bathroom logo btw and why I did not notice it before. After changing, I again go to the desk and ask where the class is held. Once again, I was pointed in a general direction as neither of the staff could be bothered to show me to the room. I walked past the room btw, and had to ask someone who looked like they were going to yoga where the class is. I get in class, and ask where the mats are. The instructor told me I have to find one. Again, a member was the only one willing to help and told me they don't have enough for everyone in class so members hide the mats and told me where to find one. I get a mat and go to wipe it down and the cleaning station was empty. I asked the instructor where I can find wipes because the one at the door is empty. She told me they don't have any then. Again, a member helped me and told me where to get wipes. Not once did ANY staff member assist me during this visit. Not once was I made to feel welcome. It was a TERRIBLE experience all around. I obviously did not sign up for a membership at the Y and have not returned.

Very nice facility. Wish it was more handicapped friendly though. Also wish the therapy pool didn't cater to kids in the summer. Needs handicapped improvements for elderly and physically challenged.....rails, grabber bars, shower stall. To note: bath chairs and equipment should be bariatric to accommodate any group of handicapped.
Edit: Thanks for responding, Y. You do have a very nice facility and I realize it is in Big Vanilla bones. I'm not complaining, just giving constructive criticism as many of us older folk have expressed the need for this. We have also shared this with some of the employees. So glad you are here for us!

Great place!
Clean, friendly patrons and staff, well-maintained facilities. Saunas in the locker rooms, three dance rooms (which are great to stretch away from the masses), enough cardio and weight equipment, a rock wall (not for bouldering), two pools with the outdoor one they cover in the winter, and enough classes for anything youre interested in. They even adjust the hours for the summer to be open later, which is awesome.
As a single woman who goes at night, I always feel safe here. Never been "heckled" or seen any other woman be picked on for being in the free weight section (which you see a lot of other places).
I'm sad to be moving, this gym has certainly spoiled me. Thanks Y!

This gym has everything. Couldn't ask for much more out of a gym. If your super bogie maybe you'd ask for a more modern design but that would come with added casts so let's keep it the way that it is. Functional, comprehensive amenities, and low cost.

I just don't like giving 5 star reviews. Not a lot of problems, great place, but for me 5 stars is like absolutely perfect and I think 5 stars affects the system too much. So this is a great place, and in my mind, 5 stars just don't like giving out perfect reviews idk
