I can’t say enough good things about UP! I’ve only been training here for three weeks, and the results are already incredible. The workouts are challenging but tailored perfectly to me — I actually look forward to going now.
My trainer, Joseph, has been absolutely amazing. He’s motivating without being pushy, and he really takes the time to explain everything so I understand what we’re doing and why. He pushes me to do my best while still being kind, encouraging, and patient. It’s obvious he genuinely cares about his clients and their progress.
I’ve never felt stronger or more confident, and I owe so much of that to Joseph and the supportive atmosphere at UP. If you’re thinking about starting your fitness journey, I can’t recommend this place — and especially Joseph — enough!

My trainer, Austin, is the best — he pushes you to give your absolute best and will not let you slack off no matter how much you try (or whine… trust me, I’ve tested this many times and it never works). Even while pushing you, he makes sure you’re training safely and not risking injury. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and truly invested in your success.
The whole place has such a welcoming atmosphere, and all the employees are so friendly — they even know your name and cheer you on, even if they’re not your trainer. Yes, it’s on the pricier side, but it’s worth every penny. If you want real results in a supportive environment, this is the place to be!

I had a wonderful experience and result here working with Sarah. She is very knowledgeable, motivating and discreet. I was able to drop over 30 lbs in just months and increased my strength and muscle definition. Progress was steady and it did not feel overwhelming as I am still able to eat my favorite foods in moderation, making the program very sustainable in the long run. The tracking app is superb. I have been going to Ultimate Performance Bethesda for about 20 weeks now and so far it has met or exceeded all of my expectations.
I am 61 and had slowly allowed myself to get "skinny fat" without even realizing it until my wife encouraged me to take a good long look in the mirror.
I usually don't have a problem losing weight but I when I do I always look scrawny, so I wanted to do a better job and build up my muscles at the same time.
The plan that I have been on with my trainer (Nick) is really working! I have lost weight and this time I actually have some muscles for a change. People at work have noticed and I had a neighbor ask me if I was training for an Iron Man triathlon. (I am not, but thanks)

I joined Ultimate Performance in September 2024 and it’s been a life-changing journey. I’ve lost nearly 20 lbs, gained significant strength, and reclaimed the activities I thought I’d have to give up—skiing, mountain biking, hiking, even white-water rafting.

I’ve been training at UP since May with my trainer, Zach, and it’s been a great experience. He is incredibly knowledgeable and consistently pushes and supports me. From the very beginning, he had me lifting more than I ever thought possible. One of my initial goals was to be able to do a pull-up—and now I can do two unassisted.
The gym itself is well-equipped with wide variety of machines and free weights that go up in small increments, which makes it easier to track progress and build confidence.
What makes UP different from a regular gym is that you get matched with a personal trainer who works with you one-on-one—not just during workouts, but also on your nutrition. It’s super helpful, and it takes away that intimidating gym feeling because you always have someone guiding you.
Zach is super attentive, always checking my form and taking the time to answer any questions I have. I’ve been hitting new personal bests every week, and I’m really happy with the weight I’ve lost and the strength and lean muscle I’ve gained.

As a physician and someone who works with patients on their health and wellness, I’ve had the opportunity to explore countless fitness programs and approaches. But nothing—and I mean nothing—compares to the experience I’ve had training with Ahmed Mohammed, better known as “Mo,” at Ultimate Performance.
When I first started with Mo, I was looking to regain strength and lose weight in a sustainable, science-backed way. I was skeptical and wondered how someone could give me a routine that I could manage with my busy schedule as well as over deliver on their promise What I found was not just a trainer, but a true mentor in my health journey. Mo’s understanding of the human body, his clinical-level attention to form, and his obsessive focus on injury prevention are exactly what set him apart. As a doctor, that attention to biomechanics and safety isn’t just appreciated—it’s essential.

I started at UP Bethesda last November along with my husband. Although we had both been active and exercised somewhat regularly, our fitness was no longer at a level we felt comfortable with. We have both found it to be an incredibly rewarding experience and are in much better shape than when we started. My trainer, Ahmed (“Mo”) has been delightful to work with and has helped me feel like myself again. I am lifting more, running more, and fitting back into my clothes after a couple years of letting things slide. It feels so good! Mo is a great motivator and knows a lot about conditioning your muscles and getting results while always remaining kind, upbeat, and energetic. My husband’s trainer, Mark, has motivated him to new levels of fitness and a ridiculously shredded bod, if I say so myself. We have both found the experience totally positive and worth every penny. I would not be where I am with regard to health and fitness without Mo and UP. Hands down. I wish it were at a long term sustainable price point for us. If it were I would keep training with Mo for as long as possible. Very highly recommend!!!

I’m three weeks into my training at UP, and I couldn’t be happier with the progress so far! In just the first two weeks, I lost four inches off my waist, which is incredible. If you're reading this review, you're probably wondering if it's worth the money. The answer is yes, if you're willing to listen to your trainer and commit to program. You will build muscle. You will lose weight. You will feel like a brand new person at the end of the program.
I was pretty on the fence about the 12 week program, but I took the plunge and it was worth every penny. For me, this program was the fast lane to getting in shape. It wasn't easy, but it was crazy efficient.
For the shopper looking for more detail, here's my personal story. Helpfully it'll help you figure out if UP is for you.
I had gained 12 lbs of weight after the last holiday cycle and wanted to lose it. Weight loss has *always* been difficult for me, despite having an active lifestyle. I knew it would take me 6-12 months, and I wanted to shortcut it. Enter UP.
I was pretty skeptical about the results they promise through their 12 week program. It sounded like snake oil, and I had already knew how to lift weights. I also run hundreds of miles a year. What would a trainer really teach me that I can't do or learn myself, especially considering the price tag? Well, it turns out quite a bit.
I'm in my early 30s now, and I'm much more injury prone that I used to be. Zach, my trainer, was very good at modifying bench exercises to protect my aging shoulders and joints. Not only that, but I misjudged the program on the onset.
You're not paying for a trainer, you're paying for results. Weight training is just one component of the program, and arguably the least important. The real money was in the support I got from my trainer over the course the program. Constant check-ins; accountability with my diet; nutrition advice; lifestyle advice; and even food advice.
Quick side note: one time I had taken an impromptu weekend trip to see family, and we *always* eat out. I messaged Zach early that morning asking for advice on what to eat. He asked for the menu and told me which items to stick to, which to avoid, and offered encouragement. It's moments like this where the value of the program really comes in.
By the end of the program, I had effectively reset my appetite, palette, and attitude around fitness. I used to think being active four times a week, eating protein, and a relatively healthy diet was enough to be in shape. The truth was, I had an incomplete idea of what a healthy lifestyle really looked like and how to tie everything together while managing the routine pressures from social gatherings and stress to consume empty calories.
In my first meeting with my trainer, I was sitting at 27% body fat. When he asked me what my ideal weight looked like, I told him I'd be super happy with 15%; I had never been lower than 18-20%. Without batting an eye, he said he could get me to 10% and that was that. Fast forward to the end of the program, I'm at 10% after putting on 15 lbs of lean body mass. Like, I said, results.
That all said, the results won't magically fall into place, nor do they make that promise. That said, working with UP trainer is a fast lane to your fitness goals. They'll help you avoid costly mistakes and make the most of out your workouts. Look somewhere else if you're seeking shortcuts.

Phenomenal Experience with UP Training and Mo!
I cannot say enough great things about my experience with UP training! From the very beginning, my trainer, Mo, has been incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and attentive to my specific needs. I came into this journey with multiple injuries, the most significant being spine surgery that left me in physical therapy for almost two years after giving birth. Despite these challenges, Mo has worked with me every step of the way, ensuring my training is safe, effective, and tailored to my recovery.
When I delivered my second baby,
I weighed 215 pounds, and as of today, January 30th, I am down to 166 pounds—all since starting in August! My ultimate goal is to reach 145 pounds, which was my pre-pregnancy weight with baby #1, and I have no doubt that Mo has given me the tools and confidence to achieve it. One of the things I appreciate most is his deep understanding of proper lifting techniques and injury prevention, particularly when it comes to my back surgery.
I’ve also had the opportunity to train with two other UP trainers on occasion, and they were both fantastic. The level of expertise and professionalism across the board is unmatched. Yes, UP training is an investment, but for me, my health is the top priority. I had never been 215 pounds before and had no idea how to lose the weight safely and effectively. I worked with Dan May at Ultimate Performance from Bethesda form December 2023-July 2024. This is hands-down the best personal training experience I have ever had. For the first time ever, I am at my target weight, and feel strong and fit. Probably more importantly, the trainers at UP teach you HOW to strength train properly, WHY different exercises are paired and how they differ, and prepare you to continue not just maintaining but continuing to build muscle in the future.
You'll probably note that it is quite a bit more expensive than some other options. It is insanely expensive, that is true. But you get what you pay for. If you are ready to make a serious investment in your health, and ready to work HARD to get into the best shape of your life, then it's worth every penny. If you want someone who will just help you get in a bit better shape, but you aren't ready to work harder than you've ever worked physically, you're better off with a more conventional and cheaper option. This is not for the faint of heart, but if you're up to it you won't regret it!

I also love how small the program is where there is less than 15 people in the gym at any given time, sometimes we are the only ones there. If you need help with meal accountability, UP has that. After 10 short weeks I am down below my goal weight by 10 pounds (starting at 216 down to 181) and a body fat percentage of 17%. All of the guys are great there. Truly felt like a second home. I have been working with Mo once a week for the last couple of months and am very happy with the results. I started training at UP after seeing the incredible results - both in aesthetics and in strength - that my husband achieved when he trained at the Bethesda location. I’ve been so impressed since the start of my own journey and my trainer, Mo, makes showing up and putting in the work both easy and fun! While I wasn’t a stranger to the gym or working out before my UP journey, the past several months have taught me about lifting and working out effectively and efficiently, and Mo’s attention-to-detail for form and safety allows me to push to my limits without hurting myself (and Mo *will* push you, there’s no doubt about that!). Mo is able to tailor programs to meet my goals, and then continue to modify them as I progress, something I was never able to accomplish on my own or by following a different program. Mo’s infectious energy encourages me to push harder, whether it’s 6 am or 6 pm, and I’ve learned so much from his expertise. The facility is also incredibly clean and well-stocked with state-of-the-art equipment (and dumbbells that increase in small increments to really aid your progress), the mobile app is incredibly easy to use, and the energy in the gym itself is great because you know everyone - all the trainers and clients - are there to get it done. UP is definitely an investment in yourself but so worth it for achieving both your fitness and aesthetic goals, in a record amount of time. And without Mo, I would never have been able to do a pull-up on my own (after years of trying) or hip thrust over 200+ lbs!

I’ve had several trainers in the past and they honestly did not seem to care. It was more of a transaction than a relationship. When I came across UP I was skeptical like most.
However, I met Zach, who turned out to be my trainer. The care, they detail, the drive he and UP is something I have never seen before.
Zach has given me workouts that I never thought were possible. He works me hard, he gives me a real nutrition plan and the results came quick. I’m 4 weeks, I lost 6% body fat and gained 5 pounds of muscle. In addition, my belly has gone down significantly.

My experience has definitely been next level at UP - I get way more than I expected. My trainer, Dan, is super detail oriented so I've made rapid progress and never hurt myself - which was important to me because I've had injuries in the past. I shift outside form and it's immediately recognized, corrected. And I'm honestly pretty surprised by how much stronger I've become in a short period. Dan's put together combinations and series that helped me make way more progress that I ever could have accomplished on my own, or in some other type of training program. It's also been super fun - the hour flies - and it's never a grind. I look forward to going and make sure nothing pushes into that time. I'm also learning a lot. Dan is super knowledgeable and his level of expertise has gotten me to consider changes in how I approach wellness that I never would have believed six months ago -- and the impact has been incredible. I'm sleeping better, I have more energy, and I'm able to do more of what I love outside the gym with even greater ease. I really have to credit Dan's patience and skill.

I've just completed my 4 month personal training program at the Ultimate Performance in Bethesda and it surpassed my expectations in every way! Their holistic programs will help you gain a deep understanding around both diet and weight lifting so you can continue progressing out on your own.
My trainer, Mark (highly recommend!), was very knowledgable and professional throughout our time together. I asked him a lot of questions throughout the process, which helped me get definitive answers I've unsuccessfully searched for online over the past few years.
The gym is full of world-class equipment, much of which you will not find at your typical gym. It's normally pretty empty as well since you must be working with a trainer to use the facilities.
There is a parking garage right across the street that costs a few $/hr and always has spots open.
If you're willing to working hard for your results, I highly recommend going to Ultimate Performance to make it happen!

I’m half way through my training package and I couldn’t be happier with how it’s going. Ethan has provided excellent support in the form of engaging workouts, meal planning, help with making great choices at restaurants while traveling. And I’ve appreciated his responsiveness to feedback during our sessions. I’ve had spinal surgery and knee issues and we talk through how my body reacts to each new exercise, making adjustments as needed. I also had the opportunity to train with Nate a few times, who was super helpful (and incredibly knowledgeable) with choosing movements that worked with my musculoskeletal quirks! Most of all, I appreciate that the trainers push me to achieve things I wouldn’t have done on my own.
I also love that the facilities are so clean and that they are dedicated only to training sessions—so I’m not fighting to get a machine and often have the whole gym to myself (I train late in the day).
Most importantly, I’m seeing great results quickly. My goals are to lose weight and gain muscle. In the 9 weeks I’ve been training, I’m down more than 20lbs and I can see muscle definition. While UP can be cost prohibitive for quite a few people, if it’s in your budget I’d highly recommend signing up!

Ultimate Performance is an amazing gym. I only had 8 short weeks at UP, but the progress I saw was incredible. From day one, it was clear that UP is not your average gym. Ethan, my trainer, took a great amount of time to understand my fitness goals and background, tailoring a diet and a very challenging fitness program just for me. This level of individual attention made all the difference. In just 8 weeks on a cut, I lost a lot of fat and got significantly stronger, something I didn't think would happen on such a steep cut. This was in part because of the tailored diet and workouts, but also because on the gym floor Ethan knew just how to push me hard enough. When Ethan was out, though, I trained with other trainers who were all equally amazing. Now I have more energy and I feel lighter and stronger. Thanks to UP trainers, I've not only seen great physical results - but also experienced a positive shift in my mindset and motivation. Their guidance extends far beyond the gym, helping me establish healthy nutritional and lifestyle habits that contribute to my overall well-being.
The ONLY downside of UP is that the price is quite high and may not be feasible long term for many people. This is especially true since UP doesn’t permit use of their weight rooms outside of personal training sessions (so you may have to keep your other gym membership if you need to lift outside of your weekly UP sessions).
With that said - I originally signed up for 24 sessions - but I already plan on purchasing more sessions thanks to Zach’s quality training.

Overall, the General Manager was very helpful in answering my initial questions and understanding my goals. He set me up with Ahmed Mohammed (Mo). Mo really took the time to understand my goals and tailor the program to me. Mo went above and beyond to address any questions I had whether related to how machine equipment worked, how to properly perform exercises or how to balance nutrition. Any time I had questions regarding meals, Mo thoroughly addressed them and helped find the best fit for me. He was there for me throughout the process, even on days I was not training. I have made so much progress and it is the first time I have hit this type of fitness goal. I firmly believe I would not have pushed myself or been able to get to where I am without Mo. He taught me so much about strength, nutrition and mostly importantly helped me gain confidence. I appreciate his help and dedication probably more than I can express.

Probably one of the best decisions that I've made when it comes to improving my health and wellness! Has it been easy? NO, not at ALL! I probably whine about 95% of the time before and during my workout but once the session is over, I'm happy and feel like I can conquer anything. I've been working with Austin and can say that he has made a huge impact on where I am today. He's always checking in and supporting me whenever I'm not feeling my best. He also doesn't play any games (warning: be prepared to be tortured) and pushes me even when I don't think there's nothing left for me to push. It's nice to have that support with both working out and developing healthier eating habits. I am really glad that I made this investment and am happy with the progress that I've made so far. I know it will only get better from here on out.
I will note that UP is a bit pricey but you get great service and results. The facility is very nice, well kept and spacious. They have a good inventory of equipment. The facility is located very close to the metro, bus stops and garage parking.

I joined UP at the beginning of the year, am blown away by the experience. The studio itself is clean, well-maintained, and has a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. They also have their own supplement line, which makes it very easy to gather all the essentials in the studio that you will need as a part of your fitness journey.
The instructors are knowledgeable, friendly, and really push you to achieve your goals. They take the time to understand your fitness level and tailor the workouts to meet your specific needs. I appreciated that they offered modifications for different levels of ability. Austin is a GREAT trainer, he is knowledgeable and very flexible. He is super accommodating to my busy work schedule and genuinely cares about my nutrition and results. I have been working out for a few years now, and have used trainers in other gyms in the past but Ultimate Performance was better than any gym I've been to. I originally decided to try UP in Bethesda, because I wanted to get back into a routine after finding myself going to the gym and not being sure what to focus on, on a given day. Other trainers I've worked with helped me initially but once my sessions ended, I went right back to my old habits, I also needed some help working through some mobility issues in my workouts. UP's approach to getting you in shape is so comprehensive and different because they actually teach you how to make the life changes necessary to keep a consistent routine going even after your sessions are done. I am a 30 something- stay at home, mom of 2- I badly needed to make a change for my health. I was walking a fine line of passing my bad habits down to my little girls. I get weekly assessments and aid in nutrition from him. It's not a straight line path, he's has been there to adjust calories and discuss what works and what doesn't and we fix it together. In doing this, I have gained confidence in my ability to make good healthy decisions for me and for my family. Something has clicked and somewhere alone the line I started to believe I can reach my goal. Not just believe, but I know I can get there. Not only reach it, but maintain it after. This is the first place that I felt from the first meeting that I could get to where I wanted to be and stay there. I am physically and mentally stronger since starting this program. I am grateful and elated I made the decision to sign up here. With that being said- the program isn't a cake-walk (no pun intended). Come to work, expect to be pushed, but also expect to be supported. These people are here for you, they want you to succeed but you have to put in the work. Four months of dedicated work with Ben, on strength training, nutrition, an active lifestyle, hydration, and sleep has been truly transformative. I’ve lost serious weight, gained measurable strength and definition, and astonished my doctor on all possible metrics.
UP isn’t cheap but it’s that old adage: you get what you pay for. High professionalism, a beautiful, exclusive workout space, excellent equipment, a great app, great supplements (which they never tried to sell me on)—and serious accountability.

I have been going to Ultimate Performance for 6 weeks and have gained a ton of great habits with eating and a great understanding of what works in terms of lifting/workout. To date I have lost over 20 lbs. Their method of taking a wholistic approach to my fitness has been great. I have tried other diets before (emp180, weight watchers) and the weight would come back as it wasn’t educational or sustainable. I have also previously done CrossFit and OrangeTheory and while I was getting a great work out it wasn’t tailored to me and my goals and didn’t have any accountability for what I ate. My trainer, Austin Ortlip, has been a fantastic match for me. I tried UP based on the recommendation of a coworker that had tried the program at their Dupont Circle location. Having done the normal gym routing, Crossfit, the occasional boutique fitness class, I can tell you from my experience that UP is in a league of its own. UP is a bespoke fitness program for which there is no comparison.
My trainer, Brandon, has been fantastic from day one. He ensured we were on the same page regarding my goals and the time and effort it was going to take to achieve them. The workouts he arranges have been fun and the guidance during the sessions has been educational. He took into account my back issues to compile workouts that have strengthened my core and reduced my pain. The coaching in the sessions ensures I maintain proper form and limit injury risk. I have made incredible gains in my strength and am stronger now than in my 20's. I am about 2 months into the program and down over 20 lbs and a couple sizes in clothes. Coupled with the weight loss is a substantially lower resting heart rate and blood pressure.
Bolstering the workouts is a fantastic support and accountability system. The weekly check-ins and accountability through recording your food, walking, water intake, etc. in the phone app keeps you focused. The photo comparisons and tracking of all of your metrics allows you to see your progress in real time. The accessibility to the trainers when out to a social or networking event, business dinner, anniversary meal, vacation, etc. to help select the right foods when you cannot cook for yourself keeps you on plan.
I have seen some comments on the cost, and while it is high, the savings from eating your own food definitely offset the cost. I look at this as an investment in my health, and the returns outweigh the costs immeasurably.

My experience at UP was something I didn’t imagine. As we all do, when I hit the age 40, all calories I took stayed in my body. I was sad and depressed in each time when changed my dress size up. Tears when giving up skinny jeans…and desperately tried many physical fitness, diet tea, supplements, fasting, keto, even I ran full marathon…however I didn’t lose more than 2-3 pounds. I didn’t like myself and even thinking I need to accept this is my body, far from lean and gaining weight continued. What kicked me the most was blood pressure & Bad cholesterols were spiking —literally showing the sign of risking life.
Austin, my “Hero” -the great trainer at UP brought me 11 pounds loss in 6 weeks. Now I know I can do this! Secret? Eat less, move more. It is simple but not easy to do it alone everyday but UP has an excellent app to track and it is kind of fun to see own transformation by looking the “record” of my daily goals. Facility is super clean and high-end. I recommend whoever out there feeling lost after whatever isn’t working and sad about your body, go to UP and meet Austin and other great coaches there. I can’t say enough positive things about this program and my trainer Tony Jones! My whole outlook on working out and the intersection of diet and exercise has completely shifted in positive and meaningful ways.
I was one of the many people who gained weight and was in an unhealthy place as a result of the pandemic. Between working from home and virtual school with my kids, I was dragging along. After a doctor’s appointment last Fall which included a warning about my health, I knew that I needed to change things. After being very active in my 20s and 30s, I was having a hard time figuring out what was the best fitness path now that I’m in my 40s and am a full-time working mom.
A friend in LA told me that UP was opening near me in Bethesda and I signed up and dragged my husband along. It was great to do it as a couple and although we had different trainers, we were able to shift our diet to a healthier spot together, which our kids benefitted from too.
After the first 12 weeks I lost more than 20 lbs and feel stronger and healthier than ever. Tony Jones, my trainer in the Bethesda gym and a former college athlete, is FANTASTIC. He is patient, funny and is a stickler for form. I’ve been traveling a lot for work in the US and abroad and he’s been really flexible with my schedule while also helping me figure out how to keep up my workouts and eat healthy while on the road. I would not have been able to be to succeed without Tony’s support, encouragement and his sense of humor.
As someone who has indexed more toward cardio, the focus of this program is on strength and weight training which I’ve never done before. The results have been really transformative both physically and mentally. I like the fact that training sessions focus more on strength training vs. cardio - the thought being why should you pay someone to watch you do cardio?
Both my husband and I are happier and definitely healthier after joining UP and not only have we recommended it to friends, some of our neighbors have noticed our progress and have signed up as well.

Best word to describe the workouts, and support, I receive from my trainer, James.
At age 66 I was very nervous about starting this new journey. Weight training was completely new to me. James has not only provided the perfect training for me, he has also given me a huge boost in confidence. His support, and encouragement, makes me want to push myself harder and further everyday. His patients is admirable. His encouragement - a congrats text for weight loss, a steady hand on my shaking shoulders during exercise, or the challenges he sets for me to increase my steps, all make me feel like I can achieve my goals with him by my side. He goes over my meal plans, and reviews menus, and makes recommendations if I am going out.
I believe PT is partnership, and in order to be successful both sides have to be dedicated. I found that in James.
I am slightly over halfway through my 18 sessions, and am happily surprised at the change in my body all ready. Physically, I look better. Mentally, I am thrilled. I have so much more energy, and love the way I feel.
The Bethesda location is beautiful (and convenient!) I quickly felt very comfortable there. Every trainer I see always greets me, and makes me feel included.

I contacted the Bethesda, MD (US) UP center on mid April 2022. A close friend and lifting partner had done their program a year ago and saw real results with weight loss and muscle gain. He had described the process and the trainer as professionals who focused on your goals with no gimmicks. My intro consult described the same parameters: follow the meal routine faithfully, get enough sleep, drink plenty of water, and work out consistently on form and putting out your best. I was paired up with Zach Rothenberg and I am on my last sessions. I wanted to write a review to express my satisfaction with UP and Zach over the last several weeks. Zach keeps in constant contact with me, checking my progress. He is focused during our sessions and gets me to my limits and is an excellent trainer. My work schedule has occasionally thrown off my step goals (a necessary must for weight loss) and I've had to re-learn what snacks I can and cannot have (I didn't know that almost everything has carbs and how easy it is for these things to throw off my numbers). I highly recommend Zach and this program. I am a true believer that the UP approach to focus so much on nutrition as a core element of your progress is key, coupled with plenty of water, and rest. It is difficult to break old patterns and habits, and you have to start this with the mindset that you want to change and that you can. Some days will not be great, but you can always reset and get back on track. The UP app can use some improvement on how to log meals (I wish we had the option of logging meals on myfitnesspal). After 3 session a week since mid April at 251 lbs and 21%bf, I am down to 232 lbs and 15%bf. The program works. The team is great.

I’ve been working with Ultimate Performance in Bethesda for about two months now. The program is top-notch—every aspect is deliberately designed, from the workouts, to nutrition and regular touchpoints with your trainer to track progress and troubleshoot.
My objectives from the outset were to develop better habits around exercise and nutrition to help me lose weight, reduce body fat, improve cholesterol and reduce my A1C levels.
The results so far have been strong. I’ve lost ~22 pounds and decreased body fat by 6%. I also notice a difference in how I feel every day, both in terms of my mental health as well as my energy levels. The value of this experience goes beyond what I would have imagined.

The hype is real. Total accountability, no excuses, and a customized total approach to fitness and nutrition that, if followed, will reliably get you to your goal. Only three hours a week for three months and I’m back to college weight and stronger than I’ve been in years. Great 6-week jump start with Ultimate Performance. If you are feeling committed, believe in science, and are ready to change and work hard then this program is for you. I’m a 47 year old active woman with two kids and I’ve been in a weight funk for a couple of years and unable to get through what felt like a wall (hormonal changes, a general feeling of defeat, changes in my metabolism). UP got me through this difficult time. There are some cons to be aware of (just my opinion ): cost, lack of community, one size fits all approach - part of my story is medical and biological. This program didn’t provide empathy or compassion when I was working to my max.

I had an amazing experience at Ultimate Performance. Thanks to Evin, my trainer, I have not been in better shape since my college years. I have lost a total of 40 pounds during my 12 weeks of training and my doctor took me off high blood pressure medicine. Ultimate Performance program is systematic, science-based, and efficient if you have the will to follow through. The program requires a strong resolve to go through the transformation and adhere to the discipline needed to get results. It is not easy, but it is transformative and rewarding. Evin’s deep knowledge of sport nutrition, physiology and biomechanics allowed me to safely build muscle while increasing my flexibility and improving my eating habits. His ability to motivate me and challenge me to my best in each session allowed my progress to become visible by the fourth week. The program involved daily tracking of my weight, diet, strength training and routine exercises! Evin would give me a feedback of my performance of the preceding day every morning, with corrective measures to be taken! No room to slack off ! I wholeheartedly recommend Ultimate Performance.

UP Bethesda is just what I needed to push myself to new heights. I have worked out with personal trainers before and have seen results. But not results like I am seeing at UP. The detailed nutrition plan and constant feedback from my trainer (Evin - the BEST) really keep me focused and the bi-weekly body analysis keeps me honest. If you are ready to do the work and see amazing results you owe it to yourself to check this place out. Nothing but high praise.
Located in the Old Bethesda Post Office on Wisconsin, UP is super convenient to the Metro and is a state-of-the-art facility with all new equipment and beautiful amenities.

Results! Lots of places/trainers promise results, but none of them get results like Ultimate Performance. It is hard work, and they teach you to be accountable with your diet....BUT....RESULTS! Everybody I have seen lately has asked me, "Oh my god, what gym/diet are you on, you look great"...Ultimate Performance!

I joined Ultimate Performance about 8 weeks ago and it’s amazing! I signed up just to lose the weight I gained during the pandemic, but I now know my expectations were actually too low. I’ve already lost 20lbs and I’m confident that I’m going to be in the best shape of my life this summer! I was skeptical at first and it seemed too simple - eat what they tell you, go to the gym 3x per week, and get 10k steps a day. But it’s so much more. My trainer Brandon is great! He pushes me in a positive way, lays out what to expect, holds me accountable (which I really need), tracks and measures everything, and is helping me get the best results. They’ve also been flexible to make it work with my schedule and lifestyle. The nutrition plan is strict, but much easier to follow than others I’ve tried (whole30, whole life challenge). I highly recommend checking out the success stories and signing up. It’s not cheap, but so worth it!

I have been working out here for about 6 weeks to help get back into shape after having a baby. I was always fit before baby but after a year and a half I realized I needed more support if I wanted to get back to competing in endurance events. The workouts are targeted and efficient, but it is the nutritional support that sets this place apart. I have seen really great results and look forward to continuing to work out with UP.

I contacted Ultimate Performance in February 2021 for more information about their personal training program. Victoria was quick to respond and she put me in touch with Ori, whom my husband & I subsequently scheduled a tour of the UP Bethesda gym with. He was very informative about their program and asked a lot of questions about what each of us was looking for. It was surprisingly low pressure about joining, which I wasn’t used to from prior gyms I went to. Everything he shared was exactly what I was looking for and needed at this point in my life. After 2+ years of little to no physical activity and poor eating habits, I knew UP Bethesda was where I needed to be. It is not cheap but they are very clear about pricing, your commitment, their commitment and what you will get out of their program...RESULTS!
Before finding Ultimate Performance and taking the tour, I had actually said to my husband that I needed to get into shape before I joined a gym! Leaving the tour, I knew I needed the type of dedicated Personal Trainer they pair you with. Within a couple of days after our initial tour, I contacted Ori and said I was ready to begin my journey with Ultimate Performance.
My first session was on March 22nd with Brandon and I haven’t regretted joining UP Bethesda! Brandon takes the time to check-in daily, give advice as needed and pushes you to do your absolute best on the gym floor and at home to follow a heathy meal plan. He truly cares about his clients. In one month, I’ve made improvements in my health that I couldn’t have done on my own. It truly is an amazing place. Ultimate Performance is the very best!

I started at Ultimate Performance Washington DC with a 12 week transformation. The experience exceeded my expectations on every level. My body fat dropped to below 11% and I had abs for the first time since college. The best part of UP is that they explain everything you are doing and break it down in a way that is easy to understand. After my transformation I was so impressed that I decided to continue training with UP. They opened the new Bethesda HQ and I train there now as it is more convenient to my office. Ultimate Performance has exceeded all of my initial expectations. My wife and I live in Ashburn, VA so they were able to customize a program for us where we visit the facility every two weeks for weigh-in, measurements, general advice, and a training session. From there, they keep us accountable through on demand communication and scheduled weekly check-in's to review training, nutrition, and overall goals. Less than 6 weeks in and already down 20 pounds, over 4% body fat, and excited to see where it goes at the end of our 12 week program. I'll definitely be renewing at the end of our initial term. In my opinion, Ultimate Performance is head and shoulders above everyone else!

I did my research before joining UP. Amongst other data points, the primary indicator of their quality, to me, was the sheer volume of amazing ratings, despite the fact that they were NOT inexpensive.
At this point, I had been on my own personal fitness journey for 10 years. In my 40's and at 6'1", I was proud to have gradually dropped from the mid 200's to the 180's. However, despite having worked with multiple trainers, managed my diet (which I equated to maintaining significant calorific deficits ALL THE TIME) and worked out a ton, I could never get into athletic shape. I remember walking into UP and telling them that my goal was to see my abs. They said I could do that in 3 months...I said 'hah. No Way'!
Well...I was right! I didn't get my abs in 3 months. I got them in 2.5!! I was down almost 30 lbs by the time the 3 months were up, and was at a very lean 11% BF. What's more I didn't have to starve myself. I ate food I liked, worked out less than I was working out before and felt more energized and rested than I have in years.
The secret sauce for all of this are the trainers. Unlike other gyms where the trainer keep all the magic behind wraps, the trainers at UP are an open book. They explain the science behind everything - from meal timing to carb cycling - so that I can continue the lifestyle, long after I wrap up things at UP. It was the same with the workouts. There were a lot of new routines - but even with the exercises I had been doing for years, my trainer made small corrections that completely changed the impact and the associated results. Their goal is not to be your best friend, but to push you to reach your maximum potential and teach you how to do it for yourself, along the way.
At 45 I am at the best shape of my life and have more energy than I did 20 years ago. Walking into UP was the most life changing decision that I have ever made!
