Why does the YMCA raise monthly rates without any notification? My rate increased from $52.00 to $52.56. A courtesy email perhaps would be appropriate?

My husband and I attended this facility for the first time today because my son and daughter-in-law hosted my grandson‘s five year old birthday party there.
Upon entering, we were incredibly impressed with how clean and modern the facility looked. The front desk was very helpful and friendly.
We were early, so we were able to wait in the lobby, which was very well appointed.
When we made our way to the room where our party was being held, we were promptly greeted by the party host. Unfortunately, I cannot remember her name, but she was the lovely young lady who I overheard her saying, has graduated in the last year or so.
She was awesome! She was super helpful to us, and very good with the kids.
My husband and I live about an hour away, so this is not somewhere that we would be able to visit routinely, but I can assure you that, if we lived in the area, we would absolutely look at memberships because we were so impressed with the facility and all of the great program they seem to have For families, and young adults.
Important, my grandson seemed To have a wonderful time and I’m sure it made his fifth birthday party very memorable!
If you’re looking to join a wonderful facility, or just rent the space for a birthday party, I highly recommend!

We love our Ymca! We had gotten a membership after moving to the area. So happy with the decision! The staff at the front seem so nice and like they have fun at work. They were able to help me navigate the app(which was so hard to figure out lol) but we got it! The people in the gym here are mostly courteous. They’re not hogging equipment like other places I’m used to. The only downside I would say is I wish there were more pilates classes. I haven’t been to catch one and I think it’s only once a week. Also the sound echoes really loud there when there are a lot of kids around. Other than that I love it there!

I love my YMCA! It's clean and beautiful! The only downside is that the weight lifting community at this facility is too large for the available equipment. One Smith machine is tough! I do, however, love that everyone is courteous, so I haven't run into any issues of someone staying on the machine for an extended period of time.

I’ve had an incredibly disappointing experience at YMCA Natelli, and I feel compelled to share my frustration. For three consecutive times, I’ve made early morning trips in the cold, specifically to use their Seca Tru Scan machine for body composition measurements. Each time, despite successfully booking an appointment online, I left without the measurement being completed due to avoidable issues.
First Visit: The staff member responsible couldn’t even log into the system because they didn’t know their password. I left empty-handed.
Second Visit: The machine was out of service, but no one notified me in advance. Why wasn’t my appointment canceled or rescheduled? I wasted my time for nothing, with no communication whatsoever.
Third Visit: After receiving an email promoting free scans this week, I called in to confirm the machine was operational. I was assured it was working and went in again. Yet again, the measurement was not taken because the machine “didn’t feel or recognize my hands.”
This level of mismanagement and lack of professionalism is simply unacceptable. From staff incompetence to poor communication and malfunctioning equipment, my experience with YMCA Natelli has been nothing but frustrating. I joined expecting reliability and quality service, but this has been the exact opposite.
At this point, I don’t feel I can trust the YMCA Natelli to deliver even the most basic services. I’m seriously considering canceling my membership and taking my business elsewhere. For those relying on the Seca Tru Scan machine or any other specific services, I would advise looking elsewhere until they improve their operations.

This place is amazing! The staff are so nice especially Joe and Chandler they are very nice, the gym is taken care of, the lounge room is great for studying, and it’s quite lively! It has a path next to the middle school so your child can stay there until you can pick them up. And the gym is great for cardiovascular fitness.

I really enjoy coming here to work out. What makes this place even better is the awesome child care area because of people like Ms. Amber. I drop off my 4 yr old daughter here and feel comfortable knowing people like Amber are taking care of my daughter. You don't see great childcare like that everywhere so it was worth my time to write a review here. This is a very family friendly place. We love it!

Although the facility at the Natelli Family YMCA is good, our family has been extremely disappointed with staff members working in the Fun Zone. Our children were attending the Fun Zone this past weekend (Saturday, August 31), and our youngest daughter (1 year old) was having trouble separating for the duration of the visit. I was eventually reached by the front desk via my cell phone informing me that the Fun Zone had attempted to call me 3 times to pick up my children, even though the first and only call I received was from the front desk staff. I discovered that the Fun Zone employees did not attempt to call my cell phone at all - which is the number I used to check the children into the facility in the first place; rather, they were calling the children’s pediatrics office on file. This was their initial display of careless behavior during this visit.
After picking up my children, my oldest son informed me that the Fun Zone staff members on duty during that time did not attempt to comfort our daughter, and one of the employees instead told her to “just be quiet already,” “stop crying,” and “go take a nap.” This conduct is incredibly inappropriate when interacting with a toddler, and the staff member in question was dismissive and acted “inconvenienced” when discussing this behavior with her directly as the parent. Our family attempted to contact the Fun Zone program coordinator, Amber, to follow up on this incident and received no response.
I cannot fathom how an employee like this might react to an even younger child struggling to be soothed when separated from a parent, such as an infant. If an employee lacks patience and fundamental respect for children, then they have no business working in such an environment. Our family no longer trusts that the Natelli Family YMCA Fun Zone staff are capable of ensuring our children’s dignity; therefore, we have recently ended our membership and have no intentions to return.

We went to the pool with our 6 months old and we are so impressed with the kiddy pool! There is a little slide and play area for kids. The only negative comment that I have is that the changing table is in a separate area with the wash room, but it wasn’t a big deal.

The Natelli YMCA: The Staff at front desk are wonderful- so friendly- they make me feel special- all the activities geared at health is so important and they always have quality speakers- the Y offers a great variety of classes with qualified and fun instructors. The facility is always clean. There are so many Extra activities that keep everyone connected and I have created some of my best friends from the other Y members and from the Y staff

My daughter and her teammates were just robbed at the YMCA in Urbana. I will say that they are absolutely 100% not even trying to help. They wouldn’t even call the Frederick county sheriffs office. They did speak with me, but were very unhelpful and in my opinion not really interested in helping me. You can post signs all day long, but teenagers are not adults and don’t read them and the signs don’t apply to them anyways as they are not adults.

Love coming here to work out. The fun zone is amazing with my special needs son. Only complaint I have is some of the lifeguards are just darn right uptight and rude. No one smiles. We follow the rules but they take the fun out of coming to the pool. Numerous families have said the same thing.

I have been coming here for 2 years and I always love it. The front desk has always been overall cool people and I love speaking to them. They are always organized and great if anything comes up that you need.
The gym is like if you go to the old Rio Sport and Health. (Gaithersburg, MD) It is super elite, fun, organized very well, and always maintained with the latest and greatest. It makes you feel like your back at the good ol days and we always enjoy it. I went to a few classes and it was great. The staff really works hard to keep it looking good and their hard work really shows.
The only thing I would ever bring up is the pool area. It's tons of fun, my kids love it and alot of the lifeguards are cool people but there are a few lifeguards that speak to you like there police officers. I can really respect the fact that we have to keep everyone safe but when you get approached and questioned, it's not the best experience.
In all, would always recommend this gym, it's run super well, always bring alot of positive joy to our community, and we are proud to call ourselves members of the Y!!!

I initially had high expectations before joining the Y based on its external appearance and the kids' sports programs highlighted on their page. However, my experience has been somewhat disappointing. These are some of the reasons why.
The monthly fee does not justify the limited amenities in my opinion. For instances, the gym area is extremely small, especially for the amount of members they have. It's always packed and there isn't enough weight machines. I've been to more budget-friendly gyms and they have way more equipment. Also, the amount of extra monthly fees you have to pay for the fun zone is ridiculous for what it offers and the availability/schedule of such throughout the year. Not to mention the "discounts" you get to join a sport for being a member is a fraction of what none members would pay. Despite all of this, I decided to continue at the Y because, unfortunately, it is the closest gym I have from home, and decided to settle for this facility.
However, what prompted me to write this review is the unfortunate experience I encountered today as I was stopped by a staff member to let me know I cannot wear a crop top that shows my torso at the gym. I have been to many gyms throughout my life and this is the very first time I am asked to cover up my torso.
I asked the reason for this policy, and the staff member said one of the reasons is that it's a family-oriented gym, and I could make others uncomfortable. That statement actually made ME uncomfortable. I guess those people who would feel uncomfortable if I'm wearing a croptop have never been to a beach, pool or even any other gym or outside on the streets at all during summer. Not to mention, the gym itself has a pool, and there are people in swimsuits all the time in there that show a lot more than my crop top (worth adding that the pool actually has kids around, in the kid pool unlike the fitness area and is also closer to the fun zone which just makes it even more of a double standard).
Another reason she tried to give was "hygiene," which makes little to no sense. I believe there's just no objective justification to such policy and there wasn't much more she could offer as an explanation. I felt personally offended by this ridiculous policy and ended my workout shortly after. I hope this changes sooner than later. People come here to workout, it gets hot and especially more in summer. There's a difference in between wearing something inappropriate and wearing comfortable workout clothes at the gym where people go to train and workout. Very disappointing on how nowadays a "dress code" such as this one is enforced in a gym where we pay a significant amount of money to be part of.
For reference, I've attached a picture of what I was literally wearing when stopped by the staff. (Workout pants, hoodie around my waist and croptop). The second picture is a case If I didn't have a hoodie around my waist, which is rarely the case. Doesn't even shows my belly. If somebody feels uncomfortable with that, then I don't think I'm the problem. Third pictures shows when I put my hoodie back on and asked if that was still going against the policy and the staff indicated that "it's still short but I will accept it."
I hope this review encourages a reconsideration of the policies for a more positive and inclusive gym experience.

Still new looking facility gets overrun on school days by teens as soon as school lets out. The acoustics are such that noise reverberates EVERYWHERE. The walking track is above the gym, making it unusable by all but the most oblivious during heavy gym use. Weights can be heard dropping in the adults women locker room. Health and Wellness Center staff consistently fails to enforce the “rules” of no school backpacks in H & WC, that midriffs must be covered, and that shoes must be worn.
This is a great place for a teen to hang out after school. For everyone else, you’re out of luck.

The childcare area is only open a few hours in the morning and a few hours at night. They tried to tell me that the downtown YMCA was the same which is a lie. So I'm sitting here stuck with a really upset 4 year old and unable to exercise. My teen is exercising and my middle child is going to do the lane swim. No place for childcare while you work out mid day is a joke.

Daycare has a limit and they are always full. Do not join if you have kids. The kids pool is rarely available and you have to make an appointment to use it. You have to take class to use certain gym equipment. They also make it difficult to cancel your membership which is a dishonest and possibly illegal policy.

Not enough classes to meet the paying clients needs. I’ve tried for 3 sessions now to register for a 16+ swim lessons. I’m on as soon as it opens and it always says the session is full. There are only 4 slots! Finally went in to talk to the aquatics director and she was very nasty and rude. A student in this current session let me know that he was the only one in the session. The other 3 people never showed up. I asked why we weren’t contacted since we were on the waitlist? She basically let me know that the “waitlist” I’ve been on is a joke. They do not fill from the waitlist unless someone actually calls in before the start of the session to cancel. If someone doesn’t show up on the first day they still let them take a slot. Which is not what was stated in the waitlist email I received. They say if someone doesn’t show up after the first week they will contact you. Why don’t they run more classes? They should offer swim lessons every day and have multiple instructors. Very poor customer service

Its clean, its new, in my experience the staff have been quiet nice, and it has nice equipment although not enough bench presses and squat racks. The problem is with the people that go here, lots of theft I have had almost $2500 worth of stuff stolen from here in this YCMA, stuff straight up taken out of lockers, off of benches, and if you accidentally leave something of actual value behind you can kiss it goodbye if you come looking for it the next day. Besides that there are a ton of kids and after 2 its flooded with them so its a huge pain to try and workout.

This new facility rocks! Especially for aquatics! I swim here quite a bit and enjoy the camaraderie of the fellow swimmers, and the enormous high ceilings and wall to wall windows giving an outdoors experience and ultra light appeal to your indoor swimming session. There are multiple lanes and plenty of room to reserve ahead. The EGYM machines, both here and at the Frederick Downtown facility, provide a safe and easy way to workout if you have special health concerns or are recovering from a surgery or major health event. Trainers are wonderfully helpful and the front desk staff is always smiling and friendly. The Y is a place where everyone feels like they belong. It’s like a great big extended family where everyone can find an activity or class to stay active and healthy. Everyone is encouraging and supportive.

I joined this ymca a month ago and I will be canceling my membership. I was actively being harassed in this facility and the staff did not respond professionally nor were they concerned about my safety. the entire staff including the front desk, needs training on how to respond to serious incidents and emergencies. The facility is nice and I have never had anything other than a positive experience with the staff. I have worked out there for the past year, on the regular. Equipment is maintained and new, but limited in amounts (example 2 bench press and one incline bench press) which brings me into the negative aspect of this particular Y......
The only real negative about the gym is the amount of kids and their behavior in the gym. Now, I totally understand this is a YMCA and there are a ton of other negative things these kids could be doing, but I need to be honest with this review and give other people a heads up as to why I stopped working out here. I love the fact that there is a place for these kids to go and lift, I had that growing up and my friends and I used it daily. The problem is that the kids do not work out in the gym area, they stand around staring at their phones, hoarding all the equipment, and having others wait. Do not even bother going past 3:00 pm or on a day school is out, as there will be no less than 50 kids sitting around on all the equipment staring at their phones or socializing. It's frustrating as I am serious about lifting and it makes it impossible to get a good session in. Honestly, it's a bad experience and after a good 12 months of dealing with it, I chose to join another gym in the area where this behavior is not tolerated by the staff or other members, as it should be. If the staff could get control of this and actively police the kids, it would be a great place to workout and train, but it's so over the top that its easier to avoid and workout at a different time.

I am a 16 year old student at Urbana High School. I am a very dedicated track athlete who needs to train inside of a gym around an enjoyable environment. Your gym however has failed this expectation and need of mine. And I find that the most saddening. I had a bad experience around three months ago with the ladies at the front desk. The one lady had even said to me to not give her an attitude while other women jumped into the argument, and began attacking me a 16 year old child. I was honestly frightened to go back after that terrible encounter I had with the woman at the front desk. Mary specifically. But as I said I am a dedicated track athlete and need to be in the gym so I gave the Ymca another try today. But yet again another terrible experience with ur staff at the front desk Mary and Amy. Then when I was in the Y today they were talking about the issue of my membership. They stopped me immediately with a disgusting tone telling me to not go past that desk, my membership was not renewed. Tho my father renewed it online and credit card was charged. As a child I truly cannot believe the way that grown women would speak so rudely to me. So then today when we tried to call to fix everything up no answer. My father went in and heard them speaking on the situation Mary and Amy, which they then told each other they were not answering the phone call because they did not want to deal with it, and a woman by the name Tessa would. Wow bad mouthing members in public just awful. I know that and I’m only 16 I mean come on. Anyways I truly hope you all can take some serious consideration into your staff and the behavior to your members. There are many bad reviews about the front desk to back my statement.
I truly wish we can all find a solution so I can prepare myself for my upcoming track season in a healthy environment.

As a Parks & Recreation worker and as a multi-user I give it 4.5 stars. The problem I saw was the designers not creating a dedicated entrance to the pool balcony + not making it handicapped accessible as well, currently you can only enter by going through the changing rooms and used the steps near the pool right side. Currently the balcony appears to be an abandoned area.
Looks they have to work to have ADA standards in the pool area.
Impressive building, modern, varied, multifunctional and adaptable.
There are two areas that impressed me.
-The cooking class area, I don't think I know of any others in the area.
-The area of the changing rooms for entering the pools, have no comparison, one of each gender from 18 years and older and one family. The most important was the familiar one that contains several private changing rooms inside. There are two buildings that were remodeled during the pandemic Rockville Swim Center and Martin Luther King, Jr. Indoor Swim Center that they spent a lot of money on and has no comparison with this one in all gender or family changing rooms but they need be focus on the disabled (ADA).
They have someone who manages their social networks 💯 .
They have to work with the front desk and keep them informed of any activity they are doing.
Impresionante edificio, moderno, variado, polifuncional y adaptable.

A beautiful, clean facility with helpful and kind staff. The eGym system helped me overcome fear of strength training, the indoor track makes walking with Hubs possible all 4 seasons, and the early access to classes like swimming lessons and gymnastics has been a boon for our 4yo. The value you receive for the monthly membership dues is truly exceptional. Hubs and I remark several times a month on what a bargain our Y membership is (usually when we're taking kiddo to Family Swim after she's had 90 minutes in the Fun Zone). Not only is it placed in a convenient spot for kids to go to after class, but it also allows them to create the healthy habit of exercising and taking control of their own lives.
Even if your goal isn't to go to the YMCA to workout in their gym, they also provide opportunities to practice a variety of sports, and you can always trust their staff to help you if you need anything.

This is what I wear to Natalie ymca on this morning( pics attached), and after around 30 minutes, their staff came to me and said next time I shouldn’t wear this bra to go there.I thought, what?????? Is this a bra?please, I walked away after she done and asked some of their staff at receptionist about what could I wear when I go to their place? One of lady said that I wear anything not show the skin is ok. Got it.if that is your policy, I will respect it. I am out.my husband will call you to cancel the membership
And I want to say that, this is not a normal bra, this is sport bra, I bought it at sports clothes shop. What wrong with that?i should asked the shop that why you sold me the bra and said this is sport clothes? Before you say something with your client you should research it if you not sure which one is bra and which one is sport clothes.
I went to gym or ymca for exercise not to look at your clients belly so I think they are the same. Very disappointed after I waited for this place open for so long, but now if I am lazy to go to ymca or gym in Frederick I should stay home and sleep better than go back there.

The 3 females at the front desk are probably the most unprofessional unpleasant fake individuals I have ever interacted with.
It seemed as I was bothering to ask a question and that it pained them to respond. The one who finally responded had the driest fake smile ever!!
Needless to say I will not be visiting this location again. I have no problems driving to silver spring where the people are much more friendly and don't act as if paying patrons are begging a favor.

This is an amazing facility. It includes: E-Gym (a state of the art web-based fitness app/system), new equipment, excellent fitness instructors/classes, heated family pool and complimentary child care in the “fun zone” - which my kids adore and more. Join; you won’t be disappointed! Staff are friendly and helpful with signup.
