Rimmi is a fantastic instructor. After more than a decade of taking her Yoga I class, she still challenges me. It is never boring! Rimmi finds novel ways to safely get her students into and out of poses. My balance has improved over the years, and I find myself retaining my flexibility and strength thanks to her classes.

The Yoga Center Meditations with Kathy Donelly has transformed how I view the world, supported me through the loss of my husband from a terrible accident and a move back to Maryland. Both my mental and spiritual health have improved. I can deal with the changing times thanks to Kathy and our meditation group. I am so grateful and I hope to continue to evolve with her help and the help of our meditation group.

I love this studio! The instructors are very experienced, top-notch and focused on alignment. They’re great with modifications! This is a studio that is truly focused on the union of breath and movement. It’s not just a workout place. The community of people that you find in each class are very welcoming. The yogis that attend are from their 20s through to their 90s. It is a place for everybody. This studio is definitely my 3rd place!

It's been about 10 years since I resumed practicing yoga. With so many classes, there is always something that fits my schedule and yet allows me to learn at my own pace. As I have progressed, taking one or two classes weekly throughout the years, I have studied with a dozen or more of the instructors here. They respect my limitations, keep me safe, and push me to do even better than I think I can. So every teacher has been my favorite teacher.

I really appreciate the slow pace and detailed instructions Karen provides. Her selection of World Music is very relaxing and helps me focus. She really emphasizes correct technique, and the way my muscles feel the burn (in a good way) after an hour of Pilates 1 proves that it's working. In addition, I can feel that my clothes fit better and my body feels more toned than before I took the class.

The Yoga Center is the best studio I've ever experienced. I have taken teacher training and meditation teacher training at other studios and none can compare to The Yoga Center of Columbia. The teachers are true professionals and extremely well-versed in matters of health, osteoporosis and osteopaenia. The make sure every student is noticed and take great care to ensure all students are achieving positions in a safe way. I used to watch the clock in other studios and NOW I can hardly believe the class is over! If you are new to yoga or an experienced student, you will find a loving home at The Yoga Center of Columbia!

My husband and I have been taking Pilates classes at The Yoga Center for well over a decade. The Pilates classes have been instrumental in helping us to develop strong core muscles, good balance and flexibility. The Yoga Center has different Pilates instructors, both of whom are knowledgeable and excellent, but have different styles of instruction. As someone who has had orthopedic issues in the past, I have found Jen's style works best for me. She is an excellent instructor who focuses on using the correct style in each exercise, both in person and remotely. Pilates practice has been life-changing!

The Yoga Center at Columbia has been such a positive part of my life, and the instructors make it even better! I’ve been attending yoga and Pilates classes here for six months now, and from my very first visit, the center’s clean and calming atmosphere helped me feel relaxed and focused on my practice.

Bita and Karen are wonderful. They are so supportive and knowledgeable. They really take the time to understand each person’s unique needs, offering clear instructions along with thoughtful modifications or challenges tailored just for you. Their constant encouragement and focus on proper form make every class feel both personalized and highly effective.

After every session, I walk away feeling more centered and balanced. Over the past few months, I’ve noticed improvements in my core strength, flexibility, and posture, and I’m truly thrilled with how far I’ve come.

I highly recommend the Yoga Center at Columbia!

Pilates 1 has been a great way for me start my physical wellness after years of relative inactivity. I wanted a studio where I felt comfortable and relaxed as a newbie. It has been several months that I have been coming to Pilates 1 and I am really pleased with the studio, the instructors, and the members of the class. Karen has been great as a teacher who explains everything we do and the benefit of each movement. I especially like the ability I have to schedule or cancel classes. I have been taking yoga classes at the Yoga Center for over 13 years now. I started at the Yoga Center because I was trying to get my wife to start exercising more. I was practicing kung fu at the time, but my wife would not try kung fu. I thought it would be nice to take yoga classes with her to keep us both motivated. So one night a week I skipped my kung fu practice and we practiced yoga together. Now I mostly just practice yoga. We have had several instructors over the years, depending mostly on our work schedule, and all have been great. Lately I started the free 20 minute morning meditations, which I find are a great way to clear the mind and start the day with a clean slate.

The Yoga Center of Columbia is a wonderful place if you are looking for yoga classes, pilates, mindfulness and more.
1. The teachers are great. I took classes with a few different instructors and they are all wonderful.
2. They offer many different packages and are super flexible. There are classes offered for any level. Most classes can be taken either in-studio or online. You can enroll for a class and alternate between in-studio and online classes. And you can sign up for a season of yoga and take a different class every week.
4. I believe that everyone feels welcome and comfortable there (men and women, adults, kids and teenagers).
5. There are a lot of various workshops and retreats offered as well.
6. They offer donation classes and they give back to the community and those in need.
7. It is a loving community and a group of people who practice empathy. If you are looking for a place where you want to clear your mind, stretch your body and get all the benefits of yoga, and above all, if you want to "feed the good wolf", give them a try.

Great for all levels especially beginners! Due to several factors (injury, Covid, and my progress), I have had the opportunity to work with several instructors -- including the owner. All of them are engaging, knowledgeable and provide individual attention when needed. That they offer hybrid classes makes it easier than ever to attend yoga classes at The Yoga Center of Columbia.

02/13/23 Update: Our teacher (the Owner) asked us to leave a review so I am happy to update mine! She requested this during our free -- that's F.R.E.E. -- Meditation class. Where else can you get free stuff that's so good for your health and wellness? I stand by my initial review. Come for the excellent yoga classes -- benefit from the community of your classmates. Speaking of community, the Yoga Center partners with area non-profits that support the underserved and less fortunate in Howard County. Their support isn't seasonal; they do this on an ongoing basis.

I joined The Yoga Center of Columbia in September of 2020, during the height of the pandemic. I live in Florida and it was exactly what I needed at the time and I will NEVER turn back! I have continued my virtual membership since and have loved every minute. I started with Karen Best's 'stretch and mobility' class and am now a regular in her Pilates 2 classes. Karen Best has been the most phenomenal instructor I have ever had and I have had many since I started 'working out' back in the 80's. She breaks down her exercise routine, giving insight and information that help you understand what you are doing and why. Her calming demeanor and great sense of humor give way to a fun relaxing exercise or mediation experience. I am 62 and feel strong and healthy. I teach 1st grade and was having trouble getting up and down off the floor with my students, but not any more. Thank you, Karen, for all you do to help me stay healthy in body, mind and spirit!

I have been in the Mobility & Stretch class (Karen Best teacher) for several years. I have noticed improved balance, flexibility, posture, & less joint pain. As a former athlete with many sports injuries, Karen has modified when needed which has been very helpful. She is very knowledgeable regarding anatomy & has worked to share her knowledge with her students. Since this class is taught hybrid, I can still take part whether I am home or traveling. Best class ever!!

The Yoga Center of Columbia is a wonderful, heart centered studio with a host of amazing instructors and a wide array of classes. I've been coming here for many years, although the past two years I've been doing all classes virtually with my favorite instructors. I miss the beautiful studio space and plan on going back in when I feel ready, but he virtual classes have truly helped me get through the past two years. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Congrats for the 30 years of turning yoga and pilates on the mat to a blue print of joyful healthy living on the pathways of our lives. The numerous courses I have taken from 8 different instructors compliment each other and facilitate the transition from studio learning to daily wellness !

I began classes at the Yoga Center of Columbia in 2014. The yoga staff is seasoned, kind, and focuses on alignment and listening to your own body. The environment is diverse, consistently welcoming and accommodating. It is really a refreshing place.

The Yoga Center of Columbia has always been an incredible place of support, friendship and healing for so many. During the pandemic Kathy Donnelly and her incredible team of teachers worked tirelessly to transition to online classes. Despite the challenging times they've been able to continue offering high-quality, nurturing, educational, and fun classes for all ages from the comfort of home.

I've been taking yoga at the Yoga Center of Columbia for 3 years and have been completely satisfied with my experience. The classes I have taken with Kathy Donnelly have been fantastic and any time she's had a substitute teach for her, they have been great too. During COVID, when everything closed, Kathy was able to quickly pivot and offer classes remotely via Zoom. Although not ideal, the classes have continued to be structured and engaging. If you miss one of your scheduled classes, it's quite easy to schedule a make up in another class. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the Yoga Center of Columbia for yoga classes and more.

The Yoga Center is a wonderful welcoming place. They have risen to the top in my book by going online during the Pandemic and offering classes. I started in yoga at the studio and have now also taken up Pilates which is great exercise and keeping me sane and safe! I highly recommend the Center. The teachers are doing a great job with the Zoom classes.

Thank you for "spoiling me". I detested yoga until a friend introduced me to Yoga Center of Columbia 5 years ago. I have tried other centers during business travel and was disappointed each time -- none have come close to the quality of YCC programs and instructors. I appreciate how quickly you pivoted to virtual classes during the pandemic, allowing us to continue our practice with our friends. For those out there who are reluctant to try yoga (I often hear "I am too embarrassed"), this is a good time to try it from home via the virtual Zoom classes! Each class offers a much needed 90 minutes of "me time" to recharge!

I had a fantastic experience at The Yoga Center of Columbia during its quarterly "free class week." After a bad experience at my workplace (it turned into a kind of "competitive yoga," with college athlete interns struggling to keep up), I've been reluctant to try again to see just how limited I am. The three classes I took--Yoga for Healthy Bones and Joints, Intro to Qigong, Gentle Yoga--proved to me that yoga can be for everyone.

I was recently diagnosed with the beginnings of arthritis in my hands. There have been times I'm quite limited in ability to do things with my hands, and it was frustrating to not be able to make crafts for Christmas because I can't manage the tools. After the one session of Yoga for Healthy Bones and Joints, my hands were nearly pain-free! I've been practicing the hand exercises at home, and I'm continuing to get relief.

While my expectation for a yoga class was young, fit women in high-dollar Lululemon outfits and makeup holding difficult poses forever, The Yoga Center of Columbia is not that. Women and men of all ages and fitness levels were coached by instructors who clearly love what they do and want others to find joy in the practice, too. Instructors constantly urged to only do what was comfortable and taught us how to use props to begin.

Even if you don't live in the immediate area, I'd encourage you to give one session at The Yoga Center of Columbia a try. Let people who are committed to practicing yoga properly and safely teach you what yoga *should* be.

The yoga center has a wide range of classes and offerings and even does free classes throughout the year so you can try before you buy. The teachers are skilled and excellent. Most importantly to me if the center is a member of the community. They frequently do fundraisers to support the food bank and other local organizations. They are a special group and I love going here.

I absolutely LOVE this studio. Every class I have taken the instructor has been knowledgable and helpful. I am not a yogi by any means and I never felt out of place or like I was the instructors "special project." They just gave alternative options to the class as a whole so no one feels singled out. I have taken Karen and Julia's classes and have loved every moment!

The most flexible and accommodating yoga place ever! Personable instructors and a wide variety of classes ( from pregnant yoga to yoga for men to meditation and mindful eating, this place has it all. On top of all that, at the beginning of each quarter, the first week of classes are free so you can try them all out and see what you like.

With such a wide variety of classes to choose from, there's a level and style for everyone. Seasonal Free Weeks offer the chance to sample them all. The fabulous instructors are knowledgeable and skilled, each with their own personal style. Scheduling is easy online or by phone, or just drop in. If you miss a class, you can make it up with any other class on the schedule. The director and staff are committed to excellence and well-being. The Yoga Center of Columbia keeps getting better all the time--and you will, too!

It is by far the best place for yoga in this whole area - their class choices are outstanding and they have lovely teachers and staff. Unfortunately, it's a bit far for me to go regularly, plus I pay for two gym memberships so I can do lots of yoga etc. so would be a bit pricey for me, but I highly recommend it for anyone who does not want to do yoga at a gym - I especially recommend it for newcomers to yoga as the teachers at the Yoga Center will give you a much better basis for your future yoga practice - something you don't get at the gym! Here at the Center, the emphasis is on correct posture and alignment, which is extremely important in yoga and most people don't realize it.
Great place!!!
