About the Club

ZEHBRAS, the first Black-owned CrossFit gym in Baltimore City, is an inclusive fitness community located in Baltimore’s Black Butterfly neighborhood. We specialize in functional, high-intensity training designed to build strength, mobility, and confidence for real-life movement. Our mission is to help everyday people—especially beginners, Black, and queer communities—live a robust life with the freedom of fitness. With premier coaching and a supportive, non-intimidating environment, ZEHBRAS makes high-quality fitness accessible and fun for every body.

Even as a former athlete, CrossFit seemed a bit intimidating to me with potential for lots of injuries. When I came to Zehbras, the personalized instruction made me feel safe, and I am stronger than ever! The instructors give you space and know when to challenge you or when to back off. No matter where you are, there is a place for you here. My quality of life has improved immensely; I have more energy, drinking more water, sleeping better, and just feel amazing! I look forward to staring my day with the Zehbras community. This is my happy place!

I can't say enough good things about Zehbras! It's a supportive community with knowledgeable coaches. The workouts are challenging and incredibly rewarding, pushing me to achieve fitness goals. The variety programming keeps things exciting, and every session is tailored to accommodate all skill levels. When my friend recommended Zehbras to me, I laughed in her face: me, do CROSSFIT? I had never been in a gym, never lifted a weight. But when I pushed myself to take that first free class with Coach Jeanelle, I knew this was someplace special. She meets you wherever you're at -- with knowledge, humor, and heart, and she inspires you to get stronger and more fit. She is intentional about community, and in return the Zehbras community is strong and beautiful. Who knew there was a 55+ yr-old-gym rat in me waiting to bust loose! I just needed to find my peeps - check it out and you can, too! (PS months later, still working on that damn first strict pull up - ha!)

If you want results, looking for a supportive coaching and community environment to start out or continue your overall fitness, or CrossFit journey, and want to be challenged, then Zehbras is the place to be. Old injuries have subsided and I’m gaining a much better understanding of exercise mechanics with Coach Jeanelle’s focus on proper technique, proper weight and ‘go at your own’ pace approach. This is my second month as a member. I’ve never been more confident, felt stronger, and free from injury. And the Sunday morning Yoga classes with Chrii and Billie are on point!!! The stretching, increased flexibility and stress reduction have no doubt greatly helped my weekly workout recovery and prepared me for the next week’s workouts. Thanks Zehbras for the warm welcome and great workouts!!! Let’s Go!!! P.S. And love the convenience of the Members App for scheduling, workout reviews, and payment!!

I’ve grown to love work outs from going to Zehbras almost a year now. Jeanelle and fellow coaches create an encouraging and welcoming space for all levels and abilities that isn’t the typical gym rat environment. Jeanelle is constantly hosting workshops of all kinds that encourage us to try new things such as nutrition, pull-ups, handstands etc. as well as yoga and monthly challenges.
I have found my gym home and encourage everyone to check out Zehbras.

I found Zehbras Crossfit through a mutual IG friend. I went through my string of personal trainers after COVID and had a hard time finding the right fit. I was looking for someone who would challenge me, help me remain consistent, assist me in achieving my fitness/health goals, while also ensuring safety during my workouts. I DM'ed Jeanelle on IG and she was very responsive. She was able to fit me in for a consultative first session withhin a week for personal training. I told her about my fitness goals, some challenges and setbacks I faced during COVID, and how I wanted to get my health back on track. We started personal training sessions in November and we've been working towards my fitness goals ever since. I started weightlifting again (which I LOVE) and have been able to meet my goals for that in a short time thanks to Jeanelle. I'm happy I was able to find her! I'm looking forward to continuing my fitness journey at Zehbras.

I’ve been doing personal training here with Jeanelle for the past month. I initially fell in love with the free classes and I can honestly say it’s been a game-changer for my fitness routine. The consistency and support have helped me stay on track in a way I haven’t experienced before.

What really sets this place apart is the vibe—this is the first CrossFit gym I’ve been to where I actually feel welcomed. There’s none of that awkward, overly intense “gym rat” energy. Instead, the coaches and members are down-to-earth, encouraging, and genuinely helpful. It’s such a refreshing atmosphere.

The location is great, you can easily find parking. The convenience is also a huge plus for me, but more than anything, it’s the supportive community that keeps me coming back. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a gym where you can grow, feel comfortable, and be part of something positive.

I'd never tried CrossFit before and didn't like the mainstream CrossFit culture I'd heard about. The other, Jeanelle, creates a wonderful environment for beginners where I've gotten to feel excited and surprised by my growing strength, but never pressured to push too hard or bad about myself for needing to modify a workout. Even if you never exercise, there's a place for you here! The fellow students are very warm and encouraging, and are a big part of what motivates me to wake up early to work out! I really appreciate the inclusive environment and diversity in terms of ability, gender/gender identity, race, age, sexual orientation, body type, and workout goals. There are plenty of CrossFit gyms in Baltimore but Zehbra's fills a unique, much needed role that I'm grateful to be a part of ❤️ Hope you decide to check it out!

I felt right at home as soon as I walked through the door. Parking was pretty easy. They even provided snacks and healthy drink options after the workout. QueerFit was welcoming and challenging, but with peer support. I hope to come back.
