This is one of the top 3 public golf courses in Massachusetts. Played here on a Saturday morning, late September, private club alike conditions. Tee box conditions in every single one was perfect, mostly level and smooth surface. Fairways were all well well well maintained. The greens were very challenging, different speeds, didnโt break much. A few bunkers were under construction so some blocked areas. I would expect them to be an even nicer course once all work is done. Hopefully they can rebuild the clubhouse and pro shop next. Overall just a fantastic track. I will absolutely come back. Top public course in the state for sure.

Course was in great shape. Absolutely no complaints that I can come up with. Maybe they need to make sure someone is always manning the grill but they had steamed hot dogs in the proshop so what ever. The price for everything but the practice balls is good. 8 bucks for maybe 25 balls. Lower that shit or give more balls. 70 bucks for 18 holes with cart and PGA conditions you can't beat it. At all

Played last Wednesday, my tee time was 5 minutes behind the group in front of us and 4 minutes ahead of the group behind us. The course is in excellent shape but they tend to overbook.

Of all the public courses I play in this area, Acushnet's course conditions are unparalleled. It's never been in less than spectacular shape. The greens roll true and are usually fairly fast. Fairways, tees, and traps are very well maintained, and rough is mostly pretty thick and healthy. The reason I knock off a star is the same old story as most others, the pace of play is brutal. I'll only play here if I can get out within the first hour of tee times. Otherwise get ready for a 5+ hour round. I understand trying to pack as many golfers into a day as possible, but if they just increased the spacing from 9 to 10 minutes it would be my favorite place to play in Southeastern Mass. The layout is truly stellar and unique.

Not enough space between tee times. Course is always backed up. Havenโt played a round here on the weekend in under 6 hours in 2 years.

Intentionally block junior golfers phone numbers to the club to dissuade them from booking cheap tee times. Staff doesn't treat you like customer but a burden

Course was in great shape, good price, and very friendly personally. The ONLY reason I left a star out is PACE OF PLAY. Iโll reiterate, everything about the course is just short of perfect and I wanted very badly to give 5 stars but a 5 hour round is NOT OKAY.
Edit- we took off a bit earlier and were able to knock out a 4ish hour round. Iโd still recommend giving another minute or two in between tee times but theyโre a business and have been doing it much longer than me so I trust them.
Iโll modify my review based on my next time playing.

Great course, enjoyed the layout and the price point was the icing on the cake. The front and the back play like two different courses, which was fun.

Had a three Hour NINE holes today. Finished nine holes and went into the โpro shopโ and asked for a rain check because is was getting dark and it was just too busy. Attendant so NO, you booked. Twilight round, there are no rain checks. Tee time booked was 2.12 pm on a Sunday, sunset is around 8 pm. Teed off at 2.35pm and was on the first tee 30 minutes early. IMO maybe not a good plan to retain local business.

Nice course. Too bad they don't put enough effort into having food in the clubhouse or put enough effort into the clubhouse itself. They would make more money

Loved it. Great shape, greens rolled smoothly , tee boxes were excellent. Not a terribly difficult course. Would definitely go back. Bar/snack stand at the turn was not opened yet, so hopefully next time that glizzy at the turn will make this course even better.

Hello good morning golfed acushnet Valley golf course yesterday 10-29 -23.The course itself is amazing, especially the back nine which is a link style. I will definitely be going back to this course more than once a year. The price, for the round was perfect for the condition of it the only thing about it that I thought they could improve on is to have the potholes on the cart path filled in in certain spots. One more little thing that I liked a lot when I was in the parking lot getting my stuff together a young gentleman came up to me and gave me an electric cart which I thought was pretty cool. Again highly recommend this course .

These guys are old dusty crabs/ make sure if you go when itโs torrentially down pouring that you only pay for 9 at a time because they WILL NOT issue a refund even if itโs caddy shack style raining out. Wonโt be back, zero customer service skills.

I love this course, the front/back play different, and the course is always in good shape. My only gripe is the poor customer service. Double booking, get ready to wait and tee off late. Between the old mustache starter man who is quick to yell at customers for no reason at all. The pro shop or director of golf donโt return phone calls. Like I said, I love this place but when I recommend it to another person, I make sure to mention its downfalls.

The course is in excellent condition throughout. The greens roll true and have good consistent speed. The layout and variety of holes keeps things interesting. The pace of play was on the slower side, even with limited play due to rainy conditions.
8/18/23 - played the course again as part of the scramble fundraiser. The course is in amazing condition. A downpour moved through, which suspended play for about an hour. The course has great drainage, which made the course very playable for the final 10 holes.

My favorite public course in New England. The value you get for this course is better than any other course around. It makes the 45 min drive worth it!! Iโm from ca and Acushnet reminds me of the courses in Lake Tahoe, stunning! Course is always in immaculate conditions. Staff is great.

This is my favorite course within an hour from Warwick RI. Always great conditions. No other public courses reach this level golf. Classic New England golf in the front and for 6 holes in the back it's wide open and more like links golf.
Staff is really friendly as well!

While our group enjoys the course and play it several times a year we were very disappointed by the clerk in the pro shop and his attitude about handicap flags.
Two in our group are legitimately handicapped and do not have the ability to walk a great distance with COPD. The state of MA allows them to have a handicapped plate for their autos.
The clerk in the pro shop demanded a "handicap ID". He said "we just can't hand them out to anybody"
They didn't drive to the course so they had no way to show that they were legitimately handicapped.
Very disappointed with the attitude and never have had anyone anywhere make this demand.
It will definitely affect our choice of being able to play this course in the future.
Is this the town of Acushnet's official standing? If so please indicate this stance on your web page so people can make the decision to play elsewhere!

Nice layout, affordable $52 walking on Sunday, friendly clubhouse staff.
3 hr front nine, 2 hr back nine.
Significant portions of course in poor shape, as in no or dead grass (Iโm sure partially due to drought but most courses in area in much better shape. Am told that course is usually in great condition.
Couldnโt understand why starter inserted an unscheduled four-some between the group in front of us and our group. Three foursomes scheduled in 9 minutes.

11/14/21: First of all, I like this course and recommend it. This adds to my credibility as to below. I showed up after daylight savings time ended and knew when it gets dark going into the round. Dark was 435 and tee time was 1220. I arrived before my friend. Went in the proshop and paid for everything, but specifically, 18 holes. Go down to the 1st tee area and another guy running the place said, "Just want you to know, we lock the gate at the top of the hill at 430". I confirmed he meant the gate to the whole facility. Then he said people need to realize when it gets dark. I said I did realize when it gets dark. Then my friend called while I was near this guy, saying he was pulling in. The guy said in a cold monotone, "Well... go get him". What an ambassador. Got a refund due to this guy and the group in front of us looking slow... and not wanting to be locked into the place.

I've wanted to play Acushnet River Valley for many years and finally got a chance to play last week. The wait was very well worth it. Great layout, awesome design of the various holes but the course condition put it over the top for me. Everything was in fantastic shape, but want I loved was the firm fairways, so easy to compress the ball off the turf. They have a nice driving range and practice green as well.

Isaac and Wally have been great to work with since the start of this golf season. A previous review was 5-star. The only problem we have ever had was with a course worker today.
He was really upset with us on the 7th hole because they were aerating the 9th hole. He said the workers there could get very upset and quit. When we got to the 9th hole, we skipped the entire hole for the sake of those workers.
Why this was our fault, in any way possible, was beyond belief. This is not how you treat your paying customers, and scheduled customers.

Course in great shape, unfortunately 2 stars because everytime we play the pace of play is extremely slow . The fact they continue to over book is mind boggling we waited 15 min on every tee with people waiting in front and behind on the same hole . 3 1/2 hours 11 holes played before we were told to go in with the Marshall watching us and following us on the last hole played 16 min before carts were supposed to be turned in .

Did enjoy Acushnet Golf Course until I was told "I'm stupid" and to use my common sense when returning a cart at 8:28 pm because they loaded the Course with so many players that it was very slow play. The older man with white hair and mustach was extremely rude and told me not to comeback and have some brains. A reallygreally golf course in very good shape that needs to be run better. It's totally unprofessional to start people on the back nine while golfers are making the turn. Even worse when it's a horrendous league starting before their actual start time We played the front in an hour and 50 minutes and the back in 2 hours and 40 minutes. That's totally unacceptable. plus we were constantly hit into from the group behind us. That's because your jamming tee times every 7 minutes apart. It's my understanding in phase 1 you not supposed to be doing that. You should seriously reconsider that.

Acushnet River Valley is one of the best values anywhere. $39 everyday after 1 p.m. for 18 holes and cart. That's almost unheard of. At that price point you wouldn't expect much, but the course is in really good shape. The greens are awesome and the layout makes it a fun round. Some real memorable holes and shots here. The only issue - after 1 p.m. it's a total free-for-all on the first tee. If you come at the wrong time, it could be a 5-6 hour round.
** I originally gave 4 stars but had to edit my review to 2 stars. We had a tee time for 3:50 pm, we get to the tee 10 minutes early and there are 5 groups waiting to go out (this happens frequently). We donโt tee off until 4:30 pm. We play at a normal pace, keeping up with the group in front of us. We get to the 18th tee around 8:30 pm, itโs getting dark. The ranger comes out to tell us that we need to pick up the pace because they closed at 8 pm and are waiting for us to finish. Well, we would have finished by 8 pm if we didnโt waste 40 minutes sitting on the first tee.
Acushnet River needs to space out their tee times to have a reasonable pace of play. The course is nice and a great value, but the slow play leaves you frustrated.

Ive been an Acushnet resident for over 20 years. I was excited when Acushnet was going to have a public course in town. For the most part the course is a nice track. Id say its in good shape for a public course minus the bunkers that everyone complains about. However why not take care of Acushnet residents? If they did a resident only special lets say $40 and a cart Mon.-Fri., and maybe $45-$50 on weekends and holidays I am confident they could increase profits. Instead allot of us in the golfing community take our greens fees to other courses. My friends and I play 15-25 rounds a year, maybe 2 of those rounds are at River Valley because of there rates. Why aren't we making money like Whale, Lakeville, Back 9 with a clubhouse? Acushnets missing the boat here!!!

The Course is always in good shape. Greens are fair not lightning fast but not tortoise slow either. Staff is friendly fun, Tough , Fair golf course. If your a mid handicapper you can feel proud of your round if you break 90 from the blues. In order to do so you will have to play smart golf. The price after 2 on the weekends makes this a steal.

It is hard to disagree with the previous poster re:bunkers, BUT. I blame the patrons as much as the staff. This is a beautiful course, well designed, (with the exception of holes 15 and 16, [not only do they not fit my eye, I would be hesitant to meet anyone whose eye they did fit]), greens and fairways in great shape (again, despite the best efforts of the patronage) and a friendly staff; but back to the bunkers. Generally unraked. While I have not been in all of them, I haven't noticed any with sand deficiencies,( though some had wedge eating rocks in them). Why won't people rake up after themselves? Why won't people fix their own ballmarks AND at least one extra? Lazy. Of course the people from around here are the one's always returning Barney Frank and (until they couldn't) Fat Ted "The Swimmer" Kennedy to DC every election.
