I have been training at Allied Strength for over a year and a half, and have had such a great experience. Kevin works to get to know each athlete and tailor their training to their needs, including injury prevention and conditioning. Each session focuses on building strength, endurance, and speed, in addition to working around existing injuries or improving resistance to non-contact sports injuries. I feel like I have progressed so much since beginning to train at Allied, and have gone into all of my sports seasons feeling strong, prepared, and eager. I am excited to continue working with Kevin this summer as I get ready for collegiate sports, and I am confident that he will help me prepare for the challenge and stay healthy!

I have been working with Kevin for 2 ½ years and have come to really appreciate his depth of knowledge regarding both training and physiology. Our 12 year old daughter recently recovered from a fractured patella. She was in need of building back her strength so we decided to try Allied Strength. We could not have made a better choice. Kevin worked with her to safely build back her strength, learn to properly stretch and listen to her body. It was hard work but seeing the progress each week was exciting. I have been working with Kevin on a one-on-one basis over the past 2 years at Allied Strength. I have a long background in and around the fitness industry so I was pretty particular about who I would go to as a personal trainer. He impressed me from my first trial session. Prior to opening Allied Strength, he has worked alongside some of the who's who in the fitness industry, especially around strength and conditioning (and athletic training) therefore he is extremely credentialed and experienced. He is very knowledgeable and understands how to adapt his programming for any given situation. His newer, clean and larger facility is very well equipped and set up for well for athletic/team training (in which he has so much experience and past success with student athletes).
I know if my kids were old enough, I would send them to Kevin and feel 1000% confident to have them train with him on a weekly basis. Finally, Kevin is a hard working person, personable and overall great intentioned guy which make each workout fun. Highly recommend him as a personal trainer or coach - just ask his clients (in which most have been with him for several years)!

I'm beyond thankful for Kevin and his knowledgable and caring approach to his clients. His attention to each individual athlete, and focus on injury prevention is so valuable, especially for young athletes. We initially had our son work with Kevin to gain some strength back during his recovery from a collarbone break. Once fully healed, he has remained working with Kevin, constantly building strength and confidence. Kevin takes the time to get to know the athlete, and always checks technique and safety. He creates a healthy and friendly, but competitive environment for these athletes to grow physically and mentally. Without a doubt, Allied Strength has been the most impactful program for my high school son’s physical and mental health since the COVID pandemic began. A serious injury followed by the extended break in competitive high school sports had taken a toll on his strength and fitness level. I trained at allied strength for the summer to prepare for my upcoming hockey season, and it was nothing short of a fantastic decision. Kevin is such a great trainer, and is so professional with the way he does things. His covid-19 safety protocols were extremely well done, with everyone wearing masks inside the gym. Also, wiping down the equipment after use was required, and rightfully so. I had a fantastic summer at allied strength, and hope to be back next summer!

Allied Strength provides exceptional sports performance training for high school and college athletes! Since beginning at AS, my daughter (17) and son (15) have made huge gains in strength, agility, speed, and confidence. Our family owes a great debt to Kevin at Allied Strength. Our son badly injured his knee. We were discharged from medical care and physical therapy after 8 weeks. He was still weak and in pain. A well known axiom is, "A company is only as good as its leader(s)." Perhaps a less well know axiom is "you don't have to overtrain or go crazy in workouts and be sore all the time to become crazy strong." Enter Kevin Larrabee, owner and trainer at Allied Strength Gym in Gloucester, MA, and connector of these seemingly unrelated axioms.
I've struggled with my weight for years. I've also struggled with getting strong and lean without completely burning myself out (getting so sore that 3 -4 days was a minimum for recovery). Weary of going into gyms and not feeling "right" about the trainers there, or their programs or equipment, I started searching for a trainer to whom I could outsource my fitness to. I found Allied Strength's videos on Instagram. There were no popping veins, no huge squats racks with 20 plates on each side and some guy (or girl) struggling to make their reps-nothing intimidating, just ordinary, everyday people like myself, looking my age or similar (I'm 46); and-they were doing pullups! And making it look easy! And they were joking and laughing WITH each other, not AT each other! I have ALWAYS wanted to be able to do a pull-up (or several), and I have ways wanted to train in a gym where I felt comfortable, with no "judgy eyes". So I contacted Kevin, made my appointment for my free first session, and off I went. I've never looked back!
I'm at the beginning of month 5. Under Kevin's expert guidance, I've safely advanced on major exercises for strength (push ups, deadlifts, rows, squats), and have also performed variations of all those that challenge my stabilizer muscles, thereby improving my balance and coordination. I am very happy to say that all this has taken place without me being sore for more than a day. I'd like to also add that, though strength is my primary goal, some unexpected results have come to pass: I am more flexible and agile than when I started. I am simply moving more efficiently, and best of all, I am aches and pain free-for the first time in years. I give Allied Strength 110 minutes per week, and I get the rest of that week back in mobility, and feeling great!
Finally, my classmates (I participate in the twice weekly adult group class) are a great group of supportive, caring, "rooting you on" people, and not judgy or condescending at all. A reflection, of course, of Kevin.
If you want to safely and efficiently get strong, get fit, get lean, move better, FEEL better, minimize pain, aches, and injury, all in a supportive, fun, clean environment, then Allied Strength is the gym for you.

Love the Allied Strength Program. It is truly like a personal training session in a group setting. Kevin is amazing, he motivates us individually and encourages us to push ourselves every week. He keeps in interesting by changing the routines, so it never gets boring. Love the efficiency of the exercises, the hour flies by and there's no doubt that an excellent workout has been completed! I've been going 2 times a week for a month now. I definitely feel stronger and am noticing more confidence in myself. Allied Strengths' classes offer an efficient and engaging way of getting back into shape. After the first week, I started feeling better, moving better and my outlook on life changed drastically for the better. It's always interesting to come in and see what the next work out will be like. And Kevin has a great way of customizing the excerises to meet your specific needs, and tailoring the routine to your level. He also is awesome at offering encouragement when needed and challenging you when that is needed too. I started the program in Feb and I have lost 25 pounds. More importantly, I came in having a lot of aches and pains and the doctor said my blood pressure was high. After three months, I feel better, I move more efficiently, the aches and pains are diminishing because my joints and muscles are stronger and healthier and the doctor said my blood pressure was back to normal. If you want a path to feeling better, improved performance and noticeable results in a manner that keeps you on track and accountable in an encouraging and nurturing environment, then stop procrastinating and make the call to join one of Allied Strengths classes. We are so fortunate to have found Kevin at Allied Strength. My son is a competitive swimmer and was having shoulder pain. Kevin has been working with my son for two months now and not only is the pain in his shoulder gone, he is swimming faster than ever, and my son is loving working out, in small groups, with Kevins expertise. I started training at Allied Strength in the Spring in the Athlete’s Program, and it has helped me tremendously.
