One of my least favorite studios. Instructor (Kate) was great.

Worst facilities out of all the locations I have been to.
Locker room has zero space, ran out of towels, people leave their wet workout clothes in front of the sink just to shower, 1/3 of the lockers are permanently shut so you are touching other people trying to put your stuff away, no wet clothes bags, ( just for sale) and they don’t stretch after class

Was very excited to visit this Barry’s location while visiting Boston and it did not disappoint. Instructors were great with lots of energy, classes were fun and challenging, facilities were clean and the location was very close to where I was staying near Copley Plaza. The front of house staff were too cool and could not care if I lived or died, but that seems to be a cultural thing across the Barry’s brand.

THE MOST FUN WORKOUT! The instructors and front desk staff are welcoming and warm, not the least bit intimidating. The way I was greeted at the door took all my nerves away and made me feel comfortable trying Barry’s for the first time. The workout is hard! You will leave feeling SO impressed with yourself and like you unlocked a new level within yourself. Can’t wait to go back! Side note: the locker rooms are amazing!

Love Barry's Back Bay! The studio is great and all the instructors' classes are uniquely awesome! The staff is super helpful as well and has helped me get the best deals on whichever memberships/class packages work best for me at the time.

Can't wait to be back in Boston for Sadistic Saturdays 👀

Kelly has a remarkable way of brightening my mornings—it's hard to pinpoint exactly how she does it, but it's clearly a mix of her many talents. Her attention to detail, her thoughtful encouragement, and the way she calls people out by name—whether they're excelling or need a lift—makes everyone feel strong and capable. I also always end up getting more mileage in her class. She makes the class feel like a personal training session.

Good class with Kate! She was high-energy and fun, which kept the class engaging. Not as challenging as Barry’s classes elsewhere (London & Milan), but still a good workout. The locker room space is cramped and poorly laid out.

Being that it was the first class, it was very difficult to keep up with the instruction because of the distortion from the microphone. However, once I could pick up on who was being instructed to do what, it was a fantastic experience!

I really enjoyed the class!

Love. Incredible workout, it’s fun, motivating, challenging, and dramatic. All the instructions 8 have taken class with have been phenomenal. The studio itself is very well run, the front desk staff are inviting and it is easy to get someone on the phone if you have questions. The shower + styling amenities are great. Im a huge fan and think it is well worth the price. Bonus is the smoothie bar that can have your smoothie ready as class ends!

Kate's classes are masterful. Nothing short of perfection. Her instruction is clear, her internal sense of timing is impeccable, and she doesn't blast the music too loud. She also provides a psychological element, and challenging structure to the class, that stops you from plateauing. She is an amazing Barry's instructor!

Barry’s Back Bay is no joke! The class was SO hard, but absolutely worth it. They really push you to the brink, more than any other HIIT class I’ve taken. If you’re looking for a challenge, this is the place to go. The instructor was fantastic—super clear with instructions and really kept the energy high throughout the whole class. I walked out feeling completely spent, but also really accomplished. If you’re serious about getting a great workout, Barry’s is where it’s at!

Been in the Barry’s game for a few years: by far my favorite class I’ve taken. Kate was funny, very warm, just super down to earth. I loved her vernacular, how she pushed us out of our comfort zone, and nuggets of staying positive in our day. I’ve loved Back Bay but def want to make sure I take all her classes moving forward. Staff overall is super positive and welcoming!

Very poor customer service and a money grab. Misplaced a medical student ID and was laughed at on the phone when I repeatedly asked if they could check if the ID was present. Was told I had to make a 20 minute commute back if I wanted to know. They then did not tell me the ID was not there until I arrived and the assistant who laughed in my face was not remotely helpful. Do not recommend this location if you want to be treated like a human being.

Their class leaders are far from inclusive when I wanted to try a free class one of the instructors, Ryan O. Was offering through his instagram to new prospective Barry’s clients. I DM’d him like he said to do and was ignored completely! I really want to join a boot camp type gym where they claim to be inclusive and welcome all types of individuals, but to have one of their instructors offering everyone a free class, everyone being offered one whom asked, except for me. I was so pumped and psyched to be getting back into the gym but to be totally honest. Ryan O. really made me feel bad about myself. In fact I don’t want to put myself out there and try to workout, I feel like I’m not good enough to be a part of Barry’s.

I moved to Boston in May of 2023 and have been wanting to find a gym and continue the workout routine I did when I lived in Rochester. I found Barry's and thought, why not - (I'm Deaf and can't hear at all, and Barry's involves lots of talking and instruction from the trainers).

Barry's is now my favourite gym - the trainers and staff are the BEST. They accommodated me so well even when I did not ask. They provided me with a sheet with the rounds, timing, information about the exercises, etc. They go out of their way to ensure I have the best experience in class.

Thank you to all at Barry's for making my experience superb; you know who you are! :D

I was amazed by the classes and the entire environment from the moment you walk in. Olivia was my instructor and she made me feel fierce, relaxed, and like I can do anything. I challenged myself a lot during this class and I’m so proud. Located right in Copley Square and back bay, you’ll love this location. Make sure to order a smoothie before heading in your class and it will be made fresh for you in a couple of minutes before your class ends. I loved everything about this studio !

This location is very convenient for me. It is in the heart of Copley Square. The workout's are always great, but if you're a first timer make sure you tell the instructor ahead of time that you are new so you get a lay out of the space and the flow of the class. Locker rooms are a bit hectic before and after class.

Of the more than 20 Barry's locations I've been to in the US and abroad, I'd rank this one in the lower middle of the bunch. The men's locker room doesn't even have deodorant, you have to write down your shake order pre workout as opposed to just say it to the juice counter folks as at other locations and the staff generally are not the friendliest - all in themselves minor complaints until you remember you're paying $32 a class!

Great gym in terms of the staff & coaches, but horrible location, hence the reason I took off 1 star. Don’t bother coming here unless you can walk or Uber or come to an early class (which I normally do). Parking near this location is an absolute nightmare!! There’s no relationship with a nearby parking garage for validated/reduced parking (as other gyms in similar type areas with minimal parking do), so you have to fend for yourself in finding metered parking. The owners should really make an effort to put such a program in place, as there are parking garages in the area.

If you really hated yourself, you could work yourself out like this.....Barrys takes the extreme to another level

Barrys is a high intensity work out split between treadmill and weights. Every day has a different concentration like Monday is arms and abs, Tuesday is lower body, Wednesday is chest, back and arms, etc

If you haven't run on a tread at a 8 percent incline, run very hard for 2 minutes or sprinted for 1 minute, then be prepared

The workout is tough, but varied. You never do the same routine twice. Your muscles and endurance are constantly being challenged

The instructors are all hard core and excellent. They are not above swearing if necessary

If there is one downside, there are 50 people to a class, so if you check your own form unlike a 1-1 personal training session

But if you want a challenge, then Barrys is for you

I was bored of my own workouts and decided to see what the hype was about - it’s incredibly inclusive regardless of your fitness level, body shape, or comfort working out around other people.

I have fun working out here, and I’m always feeling it for a few days after. 👌🏻

I started going to Barry's in Downtown Crossing a year ago and still look forward to my next class. Many of my favorite instructors from other locations are now teaching at the Back Bay studio. Old, young, male, female, everyone is always welcome. After being bored at the gym and working out by myself, I discovered Barry's and now have a fantastic, high energy instructor and class of like-minded attendees to keep me excited about working out and push myself to give 100%. What's not listed on their website is the great community of people they draw. The classes are always fun and sweat inducing, but the high-five you get walking into class reminds you there's a class of people cheering you on.
