My focus is working against gravity and breathing properly to assist in engaging your core. This can lead to long term results in health and posture. Along with a reformer, I use apparatus such as the arch barrel, jump board, weights, fitness circles, foam rollers etc to create safe and challenging exercises.

At age 65, following a broken ankle on top of a knee replacement, I was convinced that pilates was not an option for me. It was something I had always wanted to try, but honestly I was intimidated by the classes. Then I met Angie Yu at Bedrock Pilates. Her website attracted my attention by referring to female centric issues as well as injury rehabilitation. I have been working with her for some time now and could not be happier. It is clear she is extremely knowledgeable in this area and pays close attention to my individual needs. What I thought was not within my reach she has shown me otherwise. I feel stronger, healthier, and for the first time in my life look forward to working out.

Angie was my mat pilates teacher for nearly 5 years at Fitlab. What a joy was to work with her. I had to take 10 months off in 2020 after a bad bike crash with injuries to wrist and knee. Angie's classes were important in my recovery. She has a sense of humor and also helped me to achieve well beyond my expectations for flexibility and core strength. I always looked forward to Tuesday mornings! I recommend her highly.

Joining this studio has made an incredible difference for me, and I’m so happy to have met Angie! For as long as I can remember, I’ve struggled to activate certain muscle groups—something no other instructor has been able to help with. From our very first session, Angie was able to guide me in a way that finally clicked.
She creates such a comfortable, welcoming environment and is incredibly tuned-in. She checks in constantly, making adjustments in real time based on how things feel—not just physically, but also based on what you enjoy. Every session feels personalized, thoughtful, and completely tailored to what my body needs that day. Her ability to pivot and fine-tune on the spot is so appreciated.
Also, the studio itself is pristine. I’m usually hesitant about gyms or shared equipment, but Bedrock is spotless. It’s clear how much care goes into both the instruction and the space.
Highly recommend for anyone looking to deepen their Pilates practice in a supportive, smart, and clean environment. I’m looking forward to trying the group classes soon!

Angie is incredible! I recently started working with her at Bedrock Pilates Studio, and am hooked. She introduced me to equipment I had never tried before, and it's great to have some varied options. I have been solely using the reformer for my pilates practice for years, and had no idea how much more could be available. The Barrel and the MOTR are both new to me, but I could immediately feel the difference in the muscles being engaged - Angie is extremely knowledgeable and a great instructor. The studio is well appointed and clean, with a wide range of equipment. I look forward to trying group classes as well!

Angie Yu at Bedrock Pilates has been the best Pilates instructor I could have hoped for. This is my first experience with Pilates, and I am totally hooked. I feel stronger everywhere in my body, particularly my core, and my posture has improved greatly. Angie is a wonderful listener and observer of what I need as well as a knowledgable and motivational teacher. Her studio is clean, light, and well stocked with all the essential equipment. Angie also has a lovely personality, and I am so glad that she decided to establish her own studio in Marblehead after years of working in other studios. Angie is terrific! I’m new to Pilates, and Angie expertly guides me. She takes the time to understand what I’m looking for and any physical challenges I have. I started to work with Angie after I had my second baby and have felt (and seen) a huge difference in my core and overall strength. For years, I struggled to find a fitness plan that truly worked for me. Being overweight, having thyroid issues, and dealing with a bad back from sitting at a desk for 10-12 hours a day made it difficult to keep up with most fitness programs. I had tried apps, gyms, and various classes, but they were either too intense or hard to follow due to my lack of coordination.
When I took a pilot Pilates class at a local studio, I found the workout enjoyable but felt I needed more personalized guidance. That’s when I decided to search for private lessons to address my specific needs. I came across Bedrock Pilates and submitted an inquiry. Angie responded promptly, answered all of my questions, and helped schedule my lessons without any hassle.
Not only did I sign up for private sessions, but I also involved my 18-year-old daughter, and we now enjoy duet sessions together. A few weeks ago, I enrolled my youngest daughter, who is almost 13, and she absolutely loves it too! Bedrock Pilates has been an amazing fit for all of us, providing the support and structure we needed.
In just a short time, I’ve already noticed a difference in my core strength, and I’m excited to continue this journey by building a more long-term plan with Bedrock Pilates.

I am SO grateful that I found Angie. After having a baby, I was feeling like I had lost a lot of my strength. I started pilates with Angie, and after a few sessions, I was already starting to feel stronger. I had tried other pilates studios, but the exercises didn't feel quite challenging enough. Angie has a lot of knowledge about postpartum exercise, and she knows how to make it feel challenging enough so I feel like I'm getting the BEST workout. After training with her for several months now, I'm noticeably stronger. I can't recommend Angie enough!!

I have been a client of Angie’s for a little over a year now and started working with her when I was two months postpartum, after giving birth to my first child. After experiencing continued physical discomfort and unknown pain in my core in the weeks following the birth, my primary care physician recommended Pilates. From my very first session with Angie, she has been patient, informative, professional and caring. Healing a body after giving birth is something extremely personal for each individual and Angie took great care in working with me and teaching me exercises that would strengthen the parts of my body that had been changed through pregnancy and birth. With each session, I notice my body getting stronger and stronger, and I continue to see and feel improvements. The pain that I was experiencing after having my baby has subsided, and I have Angie and her expertise to thank for that. Angie has made me feel so comfortable in each session and I am so proud of the progress I have made, all because of her care, thoughtfulness, and knowledge.
