Borealis is a warm, inclusive, authentic wellness community. Emilie has thoughtfully created a truly special space for your practice and has attracted a stellar team of instructors. I appreciate how approachable the classes are and how the teachers offer variations for poses to individualize your work. It is a truly welcoming space, and I'm so glad I found it. If you love yoga, this studio is worth traveling to.

Not going to lie, my Mrs. convinced me to do yoga on a more regular basis, but I'm so glad I did. Borealis Community Yoga and everyone from the teachers, staff and the all the practitioners who use their services made my jump into taking better care of my body and mind such a fun and rewarding thing to do.

I was a newbie to Yoga 4 years ago when some friends convinced me to join them at Borealis. I loved the experience and have been frequenting them since! It's helped me be more flexible and less sore after skiing or playing basketball, it's helped me recover from a separated shoulder and torn Achilles, and it's become a valued "me time" on Saturday mornings. There's something for everyone at Borealis. Strength or balance classes, runners classes, skiers classes, classes focusing on meditation and sleep. Regardless of the class/teacher, you're always encouraged to "do what's right for YOUR practice" and "find your own pace". There's not right/wrong at Borealis, and it's clear all the teachers care deeply about the students and their experience.

Not what I thought yoga was. This is a whole mind body experience. Along with Learning to be more forgiving and accepting, learning every class to being kinder and gentler to self. Also acknowledging and celebrating accomplishments, which I didn’t realize I never even took the time to do. All of this inspiration and guided self love is accompanied with movement that ranges from easy gentle stretching classes to classes I haven’t even tried yet. The class selection has a wide range, there are always special events and classes to try and the instructors seem to be of the highest caliber I’ve ever been to and I’ve been trying different yogas for the past 25 years. All of this is combined with community meeting areas in several places throughout the studio. I am calmer, happier and am learning to be nicer to myself and much less judgmental and negative and that is an awesome feeling! This is much more than a physical yoga studio.

Borealis is the best yoga studio ever! There is a reason it is called "community yoga". It is an extremely friendly, relaxed and comfortable environment that truly is for EVERY BODY. There are people at Borealis of all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities. I visited for the first time when I was 5 months pregnant and all the teachers took great care of me - no matter which class I showed up to. I enjoyed going to class so much that I kept going until the day I went into labor! Whether you have been doing yoga for years or you are totally new to it, you will want to call this your yoga studio.

I very much enjoy The Borealis yoga community. Owner, Emilie really sets the tone with a very inclusive attitude. She remembered my name right away after the first class and always greets me warmly.
The classes are nice and the space is beautiful. I love that other classes like Tai Chi are also given space, it has been eye opening and beautiful for me. Sylvia, who teaches both Yoga and tai chi is a lovely person who has a great teaching style.

I love Borealis! So many different types of classes which is great because sometimes I want gentle and sometimes I want strength! And you don’t have to be a well seasoned yogi - it’s always encouraged that you work at your own level and pace. I can’t say enough good things about Borealis and the instructors. Medford is so lucky to have you in our community!

I was hesitant to try yoga, but knew it would be good for me. I’ve been thrilled by my experience at Borealis. Or, perhaps I should say I’ve been stretched and strengthened and look forward to more. It’s a welcoming place with newly renovated facilities and adept teachers. Owner Emilie is insightful, down to earth, and easy to follow, even for a newbie.

Borealis is one of my favorite places to practice yoga. I can’t say enough about the owner, Emilie, and what a warm welcome I received the first time I showed up at her yoga studio. I love all the instructors and everyone who are a part of the Borealis community. I have not been to the new studio yet, but hope to get there soon!

“Borealis is the kind of yoga studio that you walk into and completely feel welcomed. You know, starting any exercise regime is difficult but when you automatically feel accepted in an atmosphere, the thought “I can’t” doesn’t even come into your mind. Borealis is a place where can’ts don’t exist, you just feel you can, you feel the support. There are not many places you can physically be present anymore without the feeling you are being judged. We feel judged behind the screens of our cellphones, judged by our co-workers and even judged by the people we love, sometimes, but Borealis is truly magical because it’s the one place I can go and feel authentically me and loved and appreciated for it. The teachers look you in the eye and warm your heart. They explain how to better your practice and teach by example. Borealis will always be my choice. It is the best yoga studio that I have ever been to.”

Top notch. I have been with Borealis through 2 beautiful spaces and the whole team worked on making their last location as welcoming and inspiring as the others. Emily and the rest of the crew are amazing - they know their stuff, Spa yoga is fantastic, therapeutic yoga is wonderful - all the yogis here rock. I am just grateful that they are in Medford - this kind of quality is a rarity here.

From the first time I visited Borealis more than three years ago, I felt I had found a yoga home—from the warm welcome, to excellence and variety of classes and workshops offered to the lack of judgment. Prompts are given with compassion and sensitivity and newcomers to more advanced yogis can all find classes that suit their needs and wants. Everyone is truly welcome at Borealis and everyone can find something they enjoy at this special studio. The owner Emilie has created a true sanctuary and each of the instructors who work there bring something special to their classes.

I have been going to Borealis for almost 3 years now. I love this place I was very reluctant at first to join a yoga studio. I thought that the whole experience would be intimidating. It was just the opposite. Emilie, the owner, and her staff are amazing. I felt very welcomed by them and the other students on the very first day. I love the variety of classes. They have something for everybody, all levels. Check this place out....you will say “ahhhh, now this is what community yoga is all about”

Oh Borealis. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...
I’ve been going to yoga classes since the owner, Emilie, was teaching across Medford Square at Awakened Warrior Yoga. I went sporadically and continued when Borealis opened. But in early 2017 I decided I needed to go more regularly for my own mental health. For *some* reason, after January 2017, I was really stressed out all the time and it was definitely affecting my work and home life. I made space and time to specifically do something for myself that I *knew* made me feel good and that I would want to keep doing.
I go to Yin Yoga on Mondays and try to get to Spa on Thursday evenings. Yin was the class I that I made time to get to, back in 2017. It’s quiet and meditative but that doesn’t mean it’s not challenging! Emilie always offers modifications and I’ve never felt any kind of body judgement or shame in there, ever, which I appreciate — there’s enough toxic bs in the world and the calm of the studio is a sanctuary. The classes are a mix of ages and ability ranges. It skews female by a fair margin, but there are guys in there too.
Spa Yoga is the class that is better than drugs. I look forward to this class the most every week and I try not to miss it! It’s glorious, relaxing, challenging, meditative and indulgent. When I get out of there I feel like my muscles have been rubbed down by a rolling pin. My brain feels like it’s had a day at the beach. And after going for a more than a year, I know that I’m stronger; I can stay in down dog longer than when I started and my clothes fit a little better. There are rotating teachers for this class and while their styles are all a bit different from each other, I always leave class refreshed and smiling (and sometimes ready to grab sushi at Blue Fuji or tacos over at Tenoch).
I’ve gone to other classes — Yoga for Summer with Veronica, who is amazing and talks about her cats (I love the cat talk) and Ayurveda; and some workshops too. I’ve learned a lot at all of these and am consistently in a better headspace after going. I never, ever, regret going to a class.
Now, after going for so long? I can’t imagine not having Borealis as a respite. My mental health stays at a better, more balanced baseline. I’m a happier lady. Do tonight’s version of yourself a favor and check out Borealis today.

I could not be happier with a yoga studio. Every instructor I have ever had (and that's mot of them, including subs!) has been knowledgeable, willing to offer modifications to make it more or less intense, and very able to read the class, an uncommon skill that I value immensely. There are gentle classes where my goal is to relax and recenter my emotions, and there are more intense classes where I can work hard and see progress. I've tried for years to get into a habit with yoga, but I never could. Borealis offers classes in a way that I'm finally able to make it a regular part of my life.

It's a beautiful space and the instructors are lovely. My only complaint would be that don't have as many classes as other studios and that's why I left. I do love it here though.
