Great community here and a great gym! It also manages to never get too crowded. Their weights area is bigger than the Fenway CRG but still isnβt big enough and you often have to wait to use something there.

Great spot for bouldering. Lots of different routes for all skill-levels. The manager Che was incredibly friendly and helpful, showing us the space as there wasnβt much traffic. It was also nice to see how she patiently trained a new stuff member, while making us feel very welcome at the same time.

This is gym is clearly new with good workout equipment and helpful staff. However, there are a couple of issues. The climbing routes are crowded so you are often waiting in line to actually climb. The routes are mostly just vertical and simple, lacking creativity and the problem solving aspect of bouldering. The holds are used up and slippery. Overall, it is quite crowded and there arenβt that many routes to climb. There also isnβt a warmup area or a changing room. The daily pass is 34$ (without shoes) which is quite expensive for a one time visit. This gym has a lot of potential but is currently not worth the steep price.

Phenomenal bouldering, Location large number of problems of varying difficulty from beginner to expert. Free chalk to use, gym, equipment, and cardio equipment. Parking is difficult to find but aside from that great location.

Favorite gym in the Boston area. The setting is so unique and always fun. The staff are so friendly. Events are always on par. Wish they had towels and locks for lockers but other than that 10/10.

Nice location, kept very clean. Staff smiles and say hi to you when you walk in. Decent variety of settings. Music selection bumps occasionally. Staff very friendly, and are gay. π³οΈβππ³οΈβππ³οΈβπ

One of the worst corporate gym experiences I've ever had. Half the facilities were broken (toilets, sinks, bathrooms). Climbing area was tiny, and there were no boards. There was the saddest weight area, with not even enough weights to do a workout on the one bar. There was no permanent pulley for hangboarding. They didn't even provide towels for their one shower. Can't believe they charge $34 for a day pass for this gym.

Did Cambridge/Boston need another climbing gym? Not really. But with their H square location, CRG finally filled a much needed niche of "convenient via the T" climbing in the area.
Per usual, setting is creative, the space is beautiful (but packed during the afternoons). Yoga room and limited weights. Single showers - BYOT (towel).
Glad they're here!

Great yoga and climbing, good place to get exercise and meet new people. Like that you can try other CRG gyms also when you need a change of pace for climbs

Great small gym at an amazing location. Two downsides:
- They always run out of paper towels next to the sink
- They provide free chalk but often run out. If they run out, then no one uses chalk and all the holds are extremely sweaty. How is it possible for a climbing gym to run out of chalk?!

CRG used to be for climbers. Now they cater to rich college kids who just want something tendy. They put a gym in downtown Cambridge and raised the membership price by 70% so that Harvard babies could roll out of bed, hit a quick workout and get their Sweet Green in under an hour. Pathetic.

The gym gets quite packed. Iβd recommend going before 6pm.
Nice amenities and the staff are super friendly.
The bathrooms and the rack in the back have a lot of dust bunnies hence -1 star

Decent space, bigger than it seems. Fun and varied routes that go as low as VB. They also offer free chalk. Iβd say the day pass should be slightly cheaper though given the size of the gym and the lack of rope walls.

The staff is consistently rude to both me and my friends. The route setting is stale and boring and the prices are obscenely high. I would highly recommend going to any other climbing gym in the area over CRG Harvard

Nice climbing gym with cool, compy style setting in a very cool location! This is a great gym for beginners and those who are looking to push grades. They have a small gym setup and a very nice looking yoga studio as well. The gym is well located in Harvard Square and provides a cool view of the surrounding streets while you climb! The staff are also very welcoming and friendly!
You have to buzz in outside but there is a sign so it is pretty easy to get in. The membership price is very reasonable and provides access to all Central Rock locations which there are many of in the Boston area.

I recently visited this gym while I was visiting Boston and noticed a recurring issue with the route setting. The problems set by the route setters seemed to lack an understanding of how climbers of average height approach climbs. As someone who climbs at a V7-V8 level in various gyms for more than 6 years , across Canada and in the states , I felt that the problems heavily favored taller individuals. The reach for holds appeared tailored to taller climbers, and the grading and overall problem design left much to become desired. The technical factors of each climbed felt repetitive without any "flow" . I can sense that the route setter have some ideas in mind and fun dynamic moves that was tried to be implemented, but it needs to be more friendly for the average climbers . As a climber of 6 years I had lots of questioning during each boulders and I felt disappointed. The highest grade I climbed was a V7 on a slab and the rest of the time I was only doing V4 because the holds were unrealistically unreachable..... & the price is ridiculous compared to other places . 2 stars because the had free chalk and the lady at the desk was very nice π

Amazing rock gym. Easy access by train and bus from anywhere on the red line. Very busy all of the time but full of people excited to help you climb. Employees are very friendly and often mingle with customers. The routes are some of the best set I have seen and it makes up for the small amount of routes due to the small space. Even with the small space there is quite of bit of equipment for cardio, weightlifting, or yoga

The routes use very different skills, like crimps, foot balancing on a slab, dynamic moves, slopers, etc. This wide range of settings was really nice. The gym is very spacious and there are many routes with levels varying from VB to V10 (I didn't pay much attention to the high level though). The one negative that I felt was that even some V1s were super reachy. I have climbed in a few gyms and never had trouble with V1s or V2s. I felt like even easy grades were set for someone tall. The gym was very busy, but given the space and number of routes, I managed to climb quite a bit.
Also, the entrance is very small and the gym is in the second floor. You need to be buzzed in. (see photo)
I added a picture of the slab wall, which was a lot of fun.

I have been going to CRG for years, but this location is terrible. The schedule is always shortened and they never fulfil their open hours, either they close earlier or open later. They must comply with the opening hours and not shorten the experience of the people that are paying for a service not provided!

The facility is clean and well maintained. Although space is generally limited in that part of Cambridge, it was impressive how efficiently they used it.
There are two main walls and a traversing wall. They have a weight set, pull up bar area, cardio machines (including a stair master!) as well as couches, showers, and a yoga studio. I was surprised at all the amenities!
Itβs $30 for a guest pass, which feels a little steeper than other rock gyms but worth it for a day excursion.

Had an amazing experience at this gym. Very clean, grading and routesetting was creative and consistent, and the community of climbers here was so welcoming and friendly! People of all abilities can feel comfortable climbing at this gym. They have all the fitness equipment you need as well as a spacious yoga room. They also donβt allow kids here or birthday parties, which creates a mature and comfortable space to train. Only thing missing for me was a kilter or tension board, so hopefully theyβll add that in the future. Highly recommend this gym if you live in the area or stopping by if youβre visiting.

I am a regular at Metrorock in Newburyport and this was an eye-opening experience to what I was missing out on. I am used to an environment that I wouldn't say is unwelcoming, but the atmosphere is very off-putting where I am used to. The opposite is true here.
CRG in Harvard Square embodies the famous "climbing community" I heard so much about when I started a year ago. People of all levels go here and just want to get better at the sport. It isn't filled with shirtless V4 guys just trying to send the hardest thing they can to impress their buddies after work. It feels like a much more serious, yet also chill, environment to be in. I was very impressed.
The routesetting and terrain are also great.

Despite being relatively hard to find, CRG Harvard Square is one of the best bouldering gyms in the Boston area. Unlike some gyms, the problems here are set in such a way that allows a wide variety of skill levels to have a good time. I definitely recommend stopping by if you get the chance.
