Been going here for years. Great people. great staff. Could use a bit of an update on treadmills and stationary bikes, but the climbing and bouldering are great!

This is my favorite Central Rock location out of all. The staff is welcoming and help to create an environment welcoming to all. Great lineup of climbing classes for adults and youths alike. The climbing routes here are more consistently rated and provide a challenge at all levels.

Great rock climbing gym. They have top rope, lead climbing, bouldering, gym, locker rooms and friendly staff. There are vending machines for energy bars and drinks and a small store for buying climbing equipment and accessories. There is also a party room where kids can have birthday parties. I love the climbing here.

Great climbing gym, clean and the staff is friendly. On the smaller side but they reset routes frequently and the route setting is great! I'm not a boulderer, but it's always busy over there.

This is only about bouldering, I did zero ropes or fitness room so I take this reviews with a grain of salt. First off, staff was very friendly! But unfortunately I did not otherwise love this place. I am a novice climber who travels a lot and Iβve been to a couple dozen gyms (including a bunch of other CRGs) in the last 2 years. I usually project an average of V4-V6. This place I was pumped on V1s and falling off V2s. There were also no crimps, which was very disappointing to me. Itβs probably a great time for very skilled climbers, but not as much fun for someone who still has a lot to learn. Clearly Iβm in the minority, but just my two cents.

The following excludes Lead and Tope Roping. Basic facility with a large bouldering area and good grade distribution (VB-V10). Setting was your typical power boulder/resistance climbing. Nothing requiring interesting coordination or 3-Dimesional movement. Many of the problems were pleasantly difficult but lacking in complexity of movement. No Moon/Tension/Kilter Board. Hangboard set up was limited (but they did have a campus board) only a BM 2000, Trango and an old Metollius board. Decent gym facility and yoga studio, more than adequate for supplemental and cross training and cardio (although a lat Pulldown machine would have been nice). Also had a private shower in each gendered bathroom. Price was steep for a day pass $28 without concession $26 with concession. Limited snacks besides a vending machine. Overall, not bad but not exceptional, especially considering the density of gyms in Boston.

Great people and that's about it. The facilities are falling apart, it's incredibly crowded on weeknights due to childrens/college programming, the parking situation is a disaster, and they're increasing prices on everyone, members included.
This has become by far the weakest link in an otherwise quite good franchise. The other gyms offer much better amenities and conditions.
Update 3/28: gym conditions continue to worsen, no resets in the boulder section for over three weeks, parking is still awful and dangerous, and yet prices continue to increase. Looking for a new gym soon, probably back to rockspot

This was my first time going to the Central Rock Gym, in Randolph. (2-14-21) I came along with friends. We walked into the gym and it was very CROWDED!! (not very covid friendly!) We had bought groupons for this trip (SUCH A GREAT DEAL). Kevin signed us in and stated I, myself, did not have a waiver signed, although I had done it before we got here. Kevin said we could settle down and put our belongings in the cubbies. We received NO FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS from ANY of the employees, they had us waiting there with another party, and came up to us asking what we were doing... We were standing there for at least half and hour, them acting as if they gave us further instructions. Kevin assumed that we knew what to do from Ryan, when in reality there was a MISCOMMUNICATION between Ryan and Kevin because Ryan ONLY told us to sign ONE of the waivers. After the orientation, we were waiting around again for the belay test. Stephanie was the instructor for the belay test and the instructions were VERY vague and unclear for this BASIC test. Which is why the test took like A HOUR LONG. Leaving us to rock climb for only thirty minutes... We were belaying for 25 minutes and 5 minutes bouldering until Stephanie kicked us out because the gym was at full capacity. We were promised two hours, by reservation. In the end we didnβt get the full experience because most of the time we were waiting around and getting tested and SIGNING WAVIERS!! We were planning to come back to this gym BUT it was SUCH a waste of time and money!

Felt very unwanted and Unaccepted. This is the first time Iβve ever get been to a rock climbing gym EVER! My boyfriend has been going for close to around 2 years and needed some refreshments on a few things! He has been to this gym several times with no issues at all! Today we went to climb for the first time together and he had to get belay certified again. Reih, the assistant manager, was trying to show us what we needed to know in order to start climbing making sure he understood all the steps and wasnβt missing any. I have to say this was the worst instructional Iβve ever been a part of!!! Reih was extremely hostile and judgemental towards my boyfriend. She would ask him to show her a knot or how to belay and then ask him follow up questions when he didnβt have the answer to them she stood there and stared at him until I had to tell her he doesnβt know the answer! I totally understand safety and policies are important and necessary but I would never in my life want to be taught the way Reih was teaching us it almost seemed like a burden and annoyance to her!!! She was very clearly making my boyfriend feel stupid which he is far from, by constantly criticizing him instead of just showing him the correct way. I did not feel it was a comfortable learning experience or environment. I wish someone else would have been there to teach us. Maybe my first experience wouldβve been different.

Finally got down to the Randolph location and it was worth the drive! Lots of top rope and lead, good size bouldering area with a big cave section, and the workout area is as impressive as any of the CRGs I've been to. They have a dedicated kids room which could be awesome for those who need it; apparently they host parties.
The photos help, but I'd say overall this gym is slightly smaller than the Stoneham location, but similar in offerings.

This rock climbing gym is so wonderful it impacted my decision about where my new apartment would be. The staff is genuine and friendly. The space is clean, and the staff clearly take pride in the facilities. The overall atmosphere, staff, and route setting on the bouldering wall are so superior, that I visited three other climbing gyms, one of them a central rock, and couldnβt believe how much I missed CRG Randolph. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

We visited Central Rock Gym in Randolph last weekend with 3 kids (age 6, 7 and 13) who had zero experience for a one-hour staff-belay session. I called to make the reservation only two days prior but Jake who answered the phone went out of his way to help us ask if any staff could come into work early that day to accommodate us - super helpful and kind! We also arrived 10 minutes late to our session, but Emily, our instructor, totally didn't mind and was really professional and nice to the kids throughout the session. She also offered to stay late because we started our session late (due to our own fault), which was much appreciated! We will come back to do more sessions! Thank you for such great experience!

I brought my son, now 8 years old, in for the summer camp. He liked it, so I signed him up for the Climbing Club program. My son enjoys the place and asks to go himself; no pushing from me needed. The staff, the people, the atmosphere are nice there.
I think climbing is really good for young kids. It develops the whole body, and the reaching and pulling actions are good for posture.

I walked into this gym extremely excited because it looks awesome/super clean and my first time. I was greeted by a young man who was super kind. I didnβt know there was a mask mandate, but I did have a mask on me. Unfortunately, two females behind the desk, one had colorful hair were EXTREMELY rude.
They asked me to put my mask on, so I did and I wear a hijab so I canβt put it on perfectly because Iβd have to go to the womens bathroom to put the straps behind my ears. The mask was perfectly fine on my face it covered my nose, the sides werenβt completely glued to my face, because Iβd have to adjust the straps which is what I was going to do after I paid. The girl with colorful hair asked me to go to the bathroom right now, in the rudest manner, to adjust the straps. Mind you everyone is 10 feet apart from me, so it could wait till I paid. I know I wasnβt over-reacting because both my friends were there and mentioned her aggression towards me. I went to the entrance to quickly adjust the straps instead. I tried to adjust it without taking my hijab off, but I noticed through the small window her and the other female at the front desk starring at me and not looking away. My friends and I ended up leaving because at that point Karen and her friend were treating me like a criminal because they couldnβt wait two minutes till I paid to go adjust the straps. The guy at the front tried to lessen the tension. In regards to the girl with colorful hair, either discrimination is her thing or sheβs queen of being grumpy/likes to feel like she has authority.
In conclusion, the gym seems awesome even though I didnβt get to try it out. The best part is my friends werenβt even covering their noses with their masks. The guy at the front was extremely friendly though and if it werenβt for the rudeness of both females id give this place a 5 star.

I attended a staff belay with my toddler and left feeling quite happy with our experience. It was my sons first time doing anything of this nature and the instructor, Jake, displayed great patience with both myself and my son in finding activities that were challenging, fun and safe. This is the best place to indoor climb. The routes are well thought out, change at a good frequency and are suitable for beginners through experts. The gym is well maintained -- cleaning and disinfecting is clearly a high priority and has been, even before COVID. There's also plenty of space, so there's no crowding. The staff is highly attentive to your needs, regardless of whether it's your first time there or you've been climbing there for months. Overall, it's a great atmosphere. Hats off to Stephanie and her team. If you haven't tried CRG Randolph, you're really missing out.

Iβve been a member at Central Rock Gym, Randolph, for over a year now and have never been disappointed. The staff there are truly amazing, professional, helpful and kind. Other members are awesome as well! The gym has always been clean and organized but is especially clean now during covid. The staff work hard to constantly keep the gym clean and remind climbers about proper mask use when needed which makes the environment feel safe so climbers can focus on having fun crushing climbs and not have the added worry of the ongoing pandemic. They even added in dispensers of liquid chalk and sanitationβs stations throughout the gym to help! I always leave with a smile on my face, planning when I can visit next!

Good for bouldering, can get busy as the after work crowd shows up. Still a good place to climb even if small and crowded. Watertown is much better, but not on my way home from work in Boston.

Good for bouldering but can get very crowded in the after work hours. Still a great place to climb with a decent variety of routes on the walls.

BEST GYM EVER.
First off, the people that work here are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. When my gf and I were talking lead tests she was very nervous and the guy giving her the test helped calm her down which was a welcome change from most of the gyms I've visited.
Secondly, the facilities are absolutely amazing. The walls are huge, the setting is amazing and routes are changed frequently. They also have a very good fitness center for a climbing gym complete with squat racks, benches, free weights, etc. And they offer lots of fitness and yoga classes. I can't speak for the fitness classes but the yoga classes are amazing and they have them almost everyday at the Watertown location.
Memberships and daypasses can be a little expensive but it's pretty consistent for the area. If it's your first time visiting, I highly recommend you get their trial membership. Free gear rentals for month and you get a free guest pass which includes gear. That means if you're going with a friend and neither of you own gear it's basically the same price and you get the rest of the month for free.

Great kids area with a slide after bouldering top-out. The top roping in the kids room is great for beginners (including adults). The adult bouldering section has a nice mix of beginner, intermediate, and impossible. The top roping is great. There is at least 3 slab climbs, plenty of easy flat wall, and lots of difficult truff stuff for when you get better and want a challenge.
The staff is super friendly and are great for newcomers. The atmosphere is very collegial and people are generally happy to help you out and explain some routes. They have a cool program Monday nights for people who want to partner and top rope together.
Highly recommend this place!!!

Awesome gym with lots of space to top rope, lead climb, and boulder. They also have a kids climbing area, a good weight room, and a studio for classes like yoga etc. Members get access to all classes, climbing spaces, and a discount on gear.

Really nice gym with awesome route setting and a nice fitness room. Unfortunately the hours could be better. Would be great if they'd open earlier during the week, as 11 am is too late for someone who works the afternoon.

Since its opening in November CRG has been home to new routes on a monthly basis, clean holds, clean pads, welcoming helpful staff, weights, yoga, and much more.
If your thinking about trying climbing or looking for a good rock gym nearby dont be shy stop by and see what its all about.
See you there.

Great routes that are set frequently. The facility is well maintained like all the CRG locations. It's a bit pricey at $20 for a day pass, but well worth money if you pace yourself and hang out for a couple hours.
