I was a long-time member of Choice Fitness Haverhill for many years, dedicating countless hours and a significant amount of money to your gym. Out of all the gyms I’ve been to, Choice has always stood out as my favorite — the atmosphere, equipment, and community have always made it feel like home.

A year and a half ago, I moved to Colorado and canceled my membership. I recently came back to visit family and friends for the weekend and was genuinely looking forward to working out at Choice again — this time as a guest of a platinum member. However, I was told that because I was a former member, I needed to pay $20 for a day pass.

Frankly, I find this policy extremely disappointing and blatantly unfair. Charging long-time members who’ve supported your business for years — especially those returning from out of state just to visit — sends the message that loyalty means nothing. It feels deeply disrespectful to be treated like a random walk-in rather than someone who’s invested time, money, and trust in your gym. On top of that, this policy completely diminishes the value of your platinum membership, restricting members from actually enjoying the privileges they’re paying for.

I understand this may be company policy, but I strongly urge you to reconsider it. A reasonable and customer-focused approach would be to allow former members who present an out-of-state ID to work out as guests without a fee. This small change would go a long way in showing appreciation for loyal members — past and present.

I truly hope Choice Fitness takes this feedback seriously and reconsiders this policy. Until then, I will not be returning.

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of help and service I’ve received at Choice Fitness, especially from the general manager, Evan. I have reached out multiple times to cancel my membership, and despite my efforts, I am still being charged every month.

At one point, I was even told that my account was in collections, which makes no sense since I’ve had a recurring transaction every month from Choice Fitness without fail. I was assured almost three weeks ago that the situation was being looked into, but I have yet to receive any kind of update or resolution. I followed up again and still haven’t heard back, and I was charged yet again.

This is completely unacceptable. It shows a serious lack of professionalism and accountability from management. No customer should have to chase down a company just to stop being billed. I expected better communication and follow-through, but instead, I’ve only been met with silence and continued charges.

I strongly caution others to think twice before signing up here, as the management clearly doesn’t value their members or honor basic customer service responsibilities.

Rated 5 stars a long time ago and gosh I’ve been coming here for god what seems like a million years and it’s still the same..The atmosphere is top notch and the trainers (nick nico annd Kenny) are killing it! The classes are absolutely fantastic and I love taking them. Cal makes for the best person for the front as well. Always so friendly and goes the extra mile to greet you by name. Overall thankful a great gym!

Absolutely disgusting. The men’s locker room at this location is a nightmare—filthy floors, trash everywhere, and a stench that makes it clear no real cleaning is happening. The showers are literally falling apart—broken tiles, missing fixtures, and who knows what growing in the corners. It’s obvious that our yearly contributions are NOT going toward improving the facility. I will never be coming back to this location, and I’ll be letting others know just how nasty it is. If management actually cares, they need to fix this immediately, but given the current state, I won’t hold my breath.

Been going here for years and it recently just got bad. A lot of my female friends and fellow gym goers go and there’s some older men who not only look at them but they follow them around(sometimes even when they walk to the bathroom) and break their necks staring at them. Even seen one guy start touching himself while staring at a woman from behind.It has made them very uncomfortable and they have brought it up to management before and nothing has been done. Instead it seems they focus their attention to have implemented new policies that disrupt and discourage avid fitness and gym goers. But to not do anything about perverted, creepy and stalking men making women feel unsafe to work out is crazy. A lot of women and men have left and I don’t blame them and I even have some tell me they are not going there anymore.definitely has gone downhill. Will not recommend to anyone.

I have been going to the Choice Fitness in Haverhill, for quite some time. Starting today you are no longer able to bring your teenager with you to workout. Management in Haverhill mentioned that due to their insurance. Under 18 year old guest are no longer able to come in. However, if i paid for my son's membership then he would be able to come in. I then called another choice location, and was told under choice fitness terms and conditions you are not able bring in a minor as a guest underneath your Membership. Since this was news to me, and i did not want to voilate the Choice Fitnes new terms and conditions I had no choice but to cancel. Proceded and went up the bridge to Crunch Fitness Haverhill. To my suprise Crunch allows you bring your son/daughter ,they are able to use all gym ammenteties as well as join you in group class. Now I pay less for more, newer equipment, more group x classs, and guest is able to enjoy the same ammenteties without extra cost. Many times you lose more trying to gain a few dollars at the your client's expense.

Tremendous facility. Dedicated, low-key clientele, attentive staff, high quality spread of equipment and first rate cleanliness; a solid hive of positivity. Recent expansion of the floorplan, along with a dramatic influx of new and innovative equipment, have combined with a sparkling cosmetic makeover to polish this jewell. The lengthy duration of attendees' participation tells its own story. Absolutely one of the best gyms we've ever used.

But I am finally saying goodbye over unethical practices I just happen to check my bank statement and noticed that they had increased my membership fees and my sons Without mentioning it to anyone. Went to cancel my membership and the “manager” was rude and aggressive and told me I wasn’t able to since I didn’t give them 30 days notice. Called the Methuen location and said they couldn’t cancel as Haverhill was the home location. Now have to go through their online service to get anything done! NEVER SIGN UP HERE!

I experienced racism at the hands of a member and confronted the person who was creating conflict and resolved it . Next day I get a call from staff saying they have canceled my member ship . I would not recommend this establishment to any one . They are incapable of creating a safe, respectable work workout environment. Moving forward I will request a full refund for any charges in regards to choice fitness. I have no faith in this establishment and the staffers absolutely do not care they rather add insult to the injury by canceling my membership, I repeat, beware of choice fitness. It is not a quality establishment they continuously compromise the integrity of their business. if you review the reviews, you will notice that staff members are horrible when it comes to responding to certain situations or resolving them has been multiple reports and reviews of negative experiences and choice fitness does absolutely nothing except make matters worse. This gym may not be safe for women. I had an incident of being verbally assaulted and physically threatened by a man at least 3 times my size. I tried to involve a staff member and it was laughed of. The verbal assault continued in front of the staff until I had to call the police. Later that day I came in to finish my workout and was met with hostility from the manager and was told it was my fault and I was instigating. He refused to let me talk to his supervisor and told me that no female staff members worked at that site. I was eventually able to speak to a regional manager and cancelled my membership. This gym on the local level seems to only be interested in staying buddies with their regulars and not protecting woman.

Trans woman here. I used to go to Choice before COVID and they were pretty good - it wasn't great, but it was alright. Got weird looks from both staff and the members, but it was nothing I couldn't deal with. If I was rating it then I'd probably give it 3 stars. I came back after ~3 years since it was the closest gym.

The experience has remained the same and changed so much at the same time. The atmosphere is a lot friendlier and more accepting, they offer more services, and they have good sanitation (pretty important in a post-quarantine world). No longer get weird looks or anything. The price is a fair bit steep, being $25 a month regular and $35 a month platinum (which is why I'm not giving it a 5 lol), but if you have the money for it it's definitely worth it.

Overall the gym is a very nice gym they’ve everything you need to transform your entire body. The place stays clean, however, the only reason why it gets a one star rating from me is because equipment maintenance is a little questionable. When you pay for amenities, you expect to be able to use them. The boxing portion of this gym has been out of service for almost three weeks, and still nothing has been done to get it up and running again. From the looks of it only a few parts from Home Depot will get it up and running again, but for some reason it’s being neglected.

The child care personnel gave my son a great first experience today and that is very important to me. I was able to workout in peace knowing that my son was in good hands. Not only are the staff here extremely rude, they all look like they would rather be anywhere else any given day, they don't complete cancellations when you cancel. I cancelled my membership in January with my "trainer." She apparently never did anything about it on their end. So they sent it to collections while they were closed due to Covid, and added a second account to my credit report. I only ever had one membership and that was one too many. I would be very careful about joining this gym, not clean, unprofessional and apaprently they can't perform a simple cancellation. I have quite the text thread with a staff member regarding this cancellation, and it is quite the eye opener, shows their lack of professionalism. Stay away, there are much better gyms.

I got charged for annual membership fee even when they are closed and i asked to cancel my membership in march !
And been there less than a year !
When i asked the guy at the desk why you charging annual membership fee for a year i won t be there !

The personal trainers here are really nice... the front desk/management team is the worst.

Basic gym with all the necessary equipment. But beware - front desk people don't know what they're talking about when it comes to the contract you sign, which is full of fees and terms that are not explained properly. When you try to cancel the membership know that you can't do it unless it's in person during very specific hours, or via certified MAIL (which I was also not told). I called the gym to make sure I wouldn't have to pay the annual fee again after cancelling and the guy who answered said I did not. Got charged anyways. Called again to get it rectified, but the manager at the Haverhill location (Anthony) was very abrasive and rude when I tried to explain my situation. Regional manager wouldn't help me either. Sad to say they don't honor what their employees tell you.

DO NOT SIGN UP HERE!!!!! Rude customer service and they put a lot on their small print. If you get the plus one membership, their are many restrictions. For example, if me and my wife sign up and then we decide we go together often so we switch to the plus one membership to save money, she cannot come with me because shes already been a member there. Also, when you cancel or update your payment method, triple check that the employees did their job. I canceled my membership after waiting for my contract to expire and because the employee didn't update my payment method correctly, the gym signed me back up on their own. When I went to dispute it, they responded with they received no updated payment method and signed me back up because I had a balance. So the gym automatically enrolled me again even though I signed a cancellation form. You would think with all of their deceptive ways to get money the gym would be clean. It's a dirty planet fitness. Well , I used to go when I was single, many years ago and it was great, about 2 years ago I signed up again, but I am a single mom of two and I decided that day to bring me nephew 14 to exercise with me, and because the have the kid sitting it sounded really good, I always liked the facilities, but that day I was humiliated as I have never been, the manager at the time wasn’t very nice, behaved very poorly and I received a call from the supervisor I guess and he was also not very helpful. Great value! They've done an awesome job rearranging the middle of the gym to include a large turf area with squat racks and open space where you can perform a variety of movements. The addition of the assault bike, the rowers, bumper plates, and pull-up bars make this a great place to train. Locker rooms are clean, staff is helpful. No matter what you want to do, you can likely find it here. Not too busy if you can avoid those peak times.

I think it's a great local gym that's in between the attitude and intimidating atmosphere of Latitude and some more basic places. I actually did go with a trainer and it was all clearly explained to me (it's locked in for three months, but after that I can cancel). The training was well worth the money. I didn't have a clue what I was doing and probably still don't compared to most there but I have routines I can follow. The staff is friendly and welcome me when I walk in and say goodbye on my way out. I always see someone cleaning and have found the place to be very clean overall. But it's a gym, obviously you have to clean up after yourself and be courteous. No complaints!

This is a great place to take ageless and Zumba Gold classes.
You have fantastic instructors and the cost is affordable. Have been going here for a couple of years now, love it. Of course you can use the equipment or take personal training sessions.

A place with extremely questionable billing tactics with hidden fees and aggressive trainers looking to lure you in and sign contracts with the impression you're signing on a per-month basis.

I gave this 2 stars because the gym itself is actually decent. Good equipment, good classes, and mostly clean for it's price range. This is a decent mid-range gym between a very casual PF and a hardcore gym that has a huge intimidation factor.

Just a word of warning not to sign up to any personal training sessions and do NOT agree to the free one they give you with the new membership. The trainers are worse than car salesmen with their push to get you to sign a contract and offer you much more than they actually deliver.

I would be recommend hiring a 3rd party trainer not affiliated with the gym and just using this gym to work out in. Make sure the contract doesn't have insane cancellation fees or make it impossible to get out of.

Just a warning. If you acquire a personal trainer you are stuck in a multi month contract which often times is not explained clearly. If you decide that personal training is not for you, there is a hefty cancellation fee. Nothing is negotiable.

I love coming to this gym! Got a membership end December of 2016, but really started committing in June 2017. Been able to lose 80+ lbs with an awesome personal trainer and the motivation of my peers. Now I work at the YMCA and have a free membership, but have never gone because I love Choice Fitness. I've recommended it to countless friends and family. Great staff, tons of machines and plenty of room to get a killer workout.

I went in to try and tell them that I was moving out of state in the middle of a nasty divorce so I couldn't give them proof of address of where I was going because I'm going to stay with friends and they refused to cancel my membership didn't matter what I said even if I gave him proof of a moving truck if it's stated that I was going to South Carolina with the moving truck they still would not cancel my membership so you know what I called my bank told my bank stop payment done over there's nothing they can do now and by the way they were extremely rude when I was trying to reason with them about this entire situation very few of us when we move out of state have a utility bill already in our hand or a rental agreement or whatever you know you trying to relocate ridiculous they just want to suck the money out of you no matter what and they won't even reason with you worst company I've ever dealt with in my tire life

Worst place ever. They make you pay 20 and tell you that you can bring a guess and now they tell you that you have restrict hours 4-8 witch is dumb. They are taking all the free weights and making it in to a girls gym

Very bad customer service the manager over there is very rude I call to complain about something he told me if you're going to f****** keep talking I'm going to hang up the phone on u and I call because of the guy over the counter he lied to me and he told me my membership with no contract and it was a contract for years that's how they treat the customers over there route my phone call it was Friday around 12 p.m.

Really clean, great machines, friendly staff. Suggestions? Wish it was open longer, maybe til 9 on the weekends? I also wish the magazine racks and tv stations were more diverse. Small updates like that could make the customer experience richer.
