If I could give this establishment NO stars I would. It does NOT even deserve a star after what I witnessed a little over 1 month ago at Lunch time with my coworker. I have obtained contact information of a handful of members that had also witnessed this ignorant, arrogant, disrespectful and discriminating behavior from the "NEW" General Manager "Stephanie". I have followed up with the victim and I will now be helping get this to move forward in a more efficient and effective legal manner, have a petition signed and will be having MANY members leave reviews.
SEAN and JASON (Most of all) should be ASHAMED that they have let this go this long. There is NO PLACE FOR DISCRIMINATION. Evidentially this ignorant and arrogant "NEW" General Manager needs to learn customer service if she is going to be the "NEW" face people unfortuately have to see everyday, along with treating others how you want to be treated.

I will be actively updating on here as time goes on with updates to how this company handles such situations.

I was visiting family in the area and used the free 7 day trial. I went M-F around 6am and I had a great time. There was plenty of equipment and space for me to do my own routine and there were plenty of open machines to use as well. It's not perfect, it's definitely a well used gym, but it suited what I needed for the week, the staff were nice and I had good interactions and good workouts.

Don't recommend - tried this place after moving to Methuen; every time I went, the place was mobbed, freeweights thrown all over the floor and in random order on the racks, noone wiping down their machines/benches. Clientele clearly has no respect for their surroundings or fellow gym goers. Hot and musty inside, unfriendly or careless staff at best. There are much better gyms in the area within 15 minutes to go to.

i lost an HEIRLOOM i asked front desk to please announce it in case somebody found it. they would please return it and they clearly told me no is not the first time j asked for help with no luck but this time is really upsetting. is an PENDANT. Gym is ok, it has equipment for most body parts, but legs.
Would be nice if they added a safe equipment for legs for people like that cannot load heavy weight on traps, such as a belt squat machine and an additional leg press.

Something is always broken and takes weeks or months for It to be fixed. Example leg extension was broken for at least 6 weeks calf raise was also broken at the same time and now the leg curl is broken

I've been going to Choice Fitness Methuen East for almost 9 years now. It has everything you need in a gym. The staff is great and the equipment is always clean and maintained. I always recommend it to anybody who is considering starting at a new gym

Hi, I'd like to report a serious violation of the mask regulations at the choice fitness in Methuen. Probably 75% if not more patrons do not wear masks. I brought this to the attention of the staff (some of whom also don't wear masks despite being vocal about NOT being vaccinated) and was told that they know it is an issue. I was told that warnings were broadcast every 30 minutes reminding patron to put them on.

I have been back 2 weeks in the mornings between 6 and 8 and have NEVER heard such an announcement.

Gym isn’t bad but do not sign up for training trainers will cancel on you and go MIA and when you speak to the fitness manager Scott he will try to get you to not cancel offering you a free session he will then take from your sessions and when your finally fed up with all the lies and sales tactics he tells you you need 30 days to cancel. Again did I mention my trainer canceled my first session and then never answered my text or calls for the following 3 weeks. Don’t fall for the training very unprofessional all they care about it the money.

Facility has been expanded, but in the midst of the pandemic the manager and staff have done the bare minimum in terms of safety. No one wears a mask and little effort to enforce the use of masks has been shown. Decent place otherwise.

I've been there twice and brought my son to their daycare room yesterday but I was not happy with the condition I saw my 2 year old son in. He was just there crying in the middle of the room with tears and snot down his face and no one cared to wipe his face off or comfort him. I observed him from afar for 1 minute before I entered and I wiped his tears and boogies off with paper towel because I didn't see any tissues. I cancelled my membership with them today.

I love the gyms both Methuen and haverhill but hate the terrible loud music it is awful even with headphones on it's blaring late at night when I use it. Everyone has there own headset please turn down the noise it makes it frustrating to work out to terrible music I want to relax as I work out the noise is too much please turn down the sound and stop playing the same music over and over again it so boring boring if I worked there I go insane from that music night after night

My boyfriend has been trying to cancel this membership for a couple months now because he moved in November let them know before he moved and he is still being charged. Members almost never wipe down the machines. Sweat and stink all over the place. This gym is just down right gross. Most ignorant members I have ever seen in a gym. The staff is useless. They never clean , the place smells horrible. Stay away !! This particular choice fitness is the worst. The others are a little cleaner . Sometimes I actually see them cleaning !!!! Methuen east is a nasty place full of smelly members and lazy staff!!

This is one of the best gyms around to go to. The staff here make sure that everyone is treated respectfully, and they have multiple different areas to fit your needs. They have a group workout area, tanning, a kid play center, sauna, and separate areas for weights, and workout machines. They have trainers to help get you into shape, and all their machines have step by step instructions on them for beginners. I recommend this gym to anyone lookikng to make a change.

It helps me get my workout on. Not as big as other gyms, so during the rush time (after work hours 4-8) it gets really hard to be able to be consistent with your sets, when using the weight room, as you end up waiting for the machine to become available.

I really was impressed by the professionalism of the personal trainers. They are educated and experienced but also very empathetic. I was so embarrassed in the beginning but there was a therapeutic feeling after meeting for the first time with Rich the manager of the personal trainers. He actively listened to my concerns but also was honest in his feedback. He took the time to review his staff and selected a trainer for me based off of many factors. I worked with Steve. He was amazing . He asked questions about any injuries and what I did for work, what my energy level was, what my own goals were and he was realistic and had such a pleasant personality. He took the time to answer my questions, offered ideas, and reviewed my nutrition. Both Rich and Steve were available off hours to guide me and motivate me. I felt so at peace and excited to work out again. They gave me so much more than tips on machines, they helped rebuild my mentality, confidence, and ethic to be healthy. I AM REALLY happy I met them and learned from these 2 intelligent and charismatic men. I really recommend them and their branch in East Methuen. They truly helped me jumpstart my next chapter and I can't tell you enough how much I respect them. East Methuen Choice and they trainers are a great gem and if your ready to start your new chapter then please go see Rich and Steve. You won't regret it.

Good club. This is my secondary club. It's a bit small, but they offer some great group exercise classes. Also has a daycare. Nice and clean, and a good location right off the highway. Pretty cheap at just about $20 a month. I don't like how they do a yearly maintenance fee, though.

After the renovations have been made the machines are all very close to each other. Most of the machines don't work now. After 5:00pm It's hard to use a tredmill most of them don't work. It feels uncomfortable working out so close to other people you don't know. This use to be a very spacious gym with working machines now it sucks. I'm not renewing my contract at all. The employees are very nice respectful polite but the renovations killed the atmosphere.

I feel like a sardine after all the new renovations. We have less space to workout and all the machines are cramped together. The big and small exercise rooms have been unused for months and are blocked by cones. Not renewing membership in January.

This is an excellent gym. The staff works hard to keep the gym clean, the equipment is swiftly repaired when broken, and the people who come to work out here are generally friendly, cool with work-ins etc. The gym has all the equipment you need to a rock solid workout in.

The place was great when I first joined about 3.5 years ago. I was just out of college and didnt have much money to my name so this was literally perfect. I had the silver membership. Then my girlfriend wanted to start coming to the gym with me so i upgraded to a gold membership and it was working out perfectly. Then choice fitness came under new management and it went to hell.. They made a map that limited who you could bring. This map only allowed guests to come if they lived in a ~10 mile radius... My girlfriend didnt make the cut. At first the employees were nice enough to let her in with me for free or would only charge 5 dollars instead of 10... but then they disappeared and now she cant come in at all. This rule literally makes no sense at all

My boyfriend has been going to Choice Fitness in Methuen for a few years. I have been trying to go to the gym with him at two of the Choice Fitness locations with him for the past two years (We do not live together). First they would not let me come in because I am not a member, which is fine, so I paid $10 every time. Since we started so spend $10 every time we went, he decided to upgrade to a gold membership which lets a member bring a guest for fee. (Remind you, he is paying in order to bring a guest.) We tried to go again, and they would not let me go with him. The reason behind this? Because I live in Newburyport, MA, and I live "too far away" for him to bring a guest. This makes no sense. I only get to see him once or twice a week, whereas friends who live near Methuen could be buddying up and cheating the system. I have respect for rules and regulations and paying correct fees, but Choice Fitness is just trying to get the most money they can get out of people. Our friends, who just got married, are experiencing the same thing. Choice Fitness will not let his wife come to the gym with him because her ID does not have the same address as him yet. The people who work there are not accommodating at all, and I have heard a lot of complaints from the other people who work out there. I have told more than a few people not to join Choice Fitness.

Good luck trying to actually workout at this gym, staff comes running over to me while Im deadlifting and tells me im making too much noise and that im disturbing people. Didn't know your gym was a damn library. Cancelling my membership and will be taking my money elsewhere. So sick of these commercial gyms and there "no making noise rules" and "no using chalk rules.." What is this planet fitness? Guess all gyms are going in that direction nowadays. If you want a gym where you can actually workout, and not have to worry about disturbing the people then this gym is not for you.
