Mike is a wealth of knowledge, but more importantly he translates that into a practical program based on your individual needs. He takes a progressive wholistic approach to facilitate improvements. As a lifelong athlete I can recommend Mike and the effectiveness of his methods!

This is a personalized, innovative program in a relaxed setting, I have had many physical therapists, but none as effective as Core Essentials and I highly recommend it.

Mike is a very experienced exercise physiologist and trainer who makes your goals his own. I just started working with Mike after my attempt to get back into a fitness routine after nearly 30 years of inactivity was not going well – knee pain developed; wasn’t feeling like I was making any gains after a couple of weeks of a traditional beginner’s light cardio routine. After my first assessment with Mike and making his initial recommended changes, my knee pain disappeared in a couple of days and has not returned. He also scrapped my light cardio routine and replaced it with a custom strength and stretching program to address the deficiencies he detected during my assessment that focused on the weaknesses in my core. Again, within a matter of days of changing over to Mike’s recommendations, I started to feel real results in my core stability. I found some day-to-day activities that I was having difficulty to perform were already starting to get a little easier to do. I’m looking forward to the progression of the program to continue to achieve my health and fitness goals. If I hadn’t met Mike, I know my well-intentioned plan to start an exercise program would have failed due to injuries since I was not focusing on the key areas that are crucial to a successful and sustainable exercise program.

I had a problem with my left arm. I couldn't raise it above my shoulder without severe pain. I went to three doctors and none of them could t seem to figure out what was causing it. I mentioned it to Mike and he had me move my arm in a couple of directions while carefully noticing when the pain would occur. Immediately, he said it was a ishoulder impingement. Sure enough, he was correct. After a physical therapy regimen, I was fully recovered. He knows his stuff! He listens. He cared. Highly recommend.

Mike Sylvester is dedicated to his client’s success. He customizes the work to fit. I personally have been dealing with an injury to my lower back and he is very careful to prescribe only exercises that protect me, but still challenge me.

There are many non-qualified personal trainers working out there. If you want results, however, you need to hire the best, and that's Mike Sylvester. He is a true professional with the education, and experience to back it up!

I met Michael in 1984 and have been working with him off and on since. If I move to another area I always end up going back to him and seeking his advice. He understands my needs and knows my limits, but always pushes me beyond with superior results. If your looking for a trainer that understands the body and movement give him a call.

Mike has trained me for over ten years. He is first-rate: careful, correct, articulate and motivational. He pays close attention to his clients' needs and goals and sets up meticulous, varied sessions. He keeps himself current on exercise and PT theories and practices and is able to tailor the latest thinking to individual programs. Plus he is a super nice guy and very fun to work with.

Mike Sylvester is more than a personal trainer--he's a scientist, author and coach. He provides expert guidance based on sound research-backed science in an understandable way. His exercise prescriptions are tailored to the unique needs of each client and adapted at every session to continue to maximize performance. Nothing is static with Mike. He's there to encourage and push you to the next level; walking that fine line between not too easy and not too hard. Mike is an educator at heart whether working with him one-on-one, reading his publications or viewing his videos. He writes extensively on the topics of exercise science and nutrition and his videos are second to none as he guides the client through the nuances of proper training for optimum flexibility, strength, and aerobic fitness. When you train with Mike, you pay for a personal trainer, but you get so much more!

I have been training with Mike of the Fitness Docs for nearly 15 years. He is a consummate professional, always updating his research, methods and exercises to reflect modern techniques and to help you achieve your goals as a client. With Mike’s help in improving my cardiovascular, mobility and strength, I have pursued mountaineering goals, and climbed mountains all over the world.
Most recently, in 2021, Mike obtained his certification from Titleist as a golf fitness trainer. Titleist has a robust and challenging golf fitness training program. After Mike completed his Titlest certification, he revamped my fitness program to incorporate Golf-related exercises and assessment, with excellent results.
I have taken well over 300 sessions with Mike over the years and he has helped me grow, improve and push boundaries. I recommend him unequivocally; he is the best personal trainer I have ever worked with by a long shot.
