This gym is an absolute mess. They advertise a 3-day free trial, but on my third day after I walked 30 minutes in freezing weather the “supervisor” suddenly decided they only offer a 1-day trial. She acted like I was stupid for even asking, rolled her eyes, talked over me, and dismissed the actual email I showed her with the 3-day offer.
When I stepped outside to breathe and came back to ask for a manager, she kept claiming they “don’t have one,” then later said the manager “would say the same thing.” But when I called the gym afterward, she put me on hold for 10 minutes and magically became the “manager.” Sure.
She also accused me of trying to use “other people’s accounts” when I tried putting in my own other number and told me “that’s not how that works, my friend,” like she was doing me a favor. Then she tried to charge me $10 for a day pass when I wasn’t even staying long.
Unprofessional, rude, and clearly unorganized. If this is how they treat someone on a free trial, I’d hate to see how they treat actual paying members. Avoid this place.

I usually don’t leave reviews, but my experience at this Crunch Fitness location was extremely unprofessional. The supervisor I spoke with was disrespectful, kept trying to talk over me, and didn’t take my concerns seriously at all. Instead of listening, they acted like my questions were an inconvenience.

I came in expecting good customer service, but the way I was spoken to was completely unacceptable. I hope management addresses this, because members deserve to be treated with respect.

The GM SYD, her staff are great people and have the best personalities to know and they are the reason why I'm leaving a positive review because they were instrumental with helping and assisting me in signing up. Initially I had problems with my card and the GM SYD and her staff suggested I come in so they can help me resolve the issue and they did just that, the card issue was resolved and I was able to use the facility after the GM SYD gave me a tour and now I'm a member and happy to be one at CrunchTime, so dont hesitate to sign up great place to workout!

Would only recommend as a last resort. In addition to incredibly strange hours (don’t even think about wanting to work out at 5:00pm on a Saturday), this gym’s equipment inventory is very limited and is easily overwhelmed during peak hours. Literal lines will form to use one of 6 functioning treadmills during the after work rush. On top of this, maintenance is constantly an issue. I have rarely seen a day where machines aren’t broken or paper towel dispensers aren’t empty. Consider other options before signing up.

The Manager - sydney’s morrissey Is one of the kindest most educated people I’ve met in the fitness industry. She takes the time to get to know her clients and develop an intimate relationship while also helping them achieve their goals and grow not only from a fitness standpoint, but from the standpoint of building discipline and better habits. I really enjoy coming to this gym. It's in a great area in Dorchester and has great equipment, including squat racks with bumper plates, plate-loaded machines, hack squat, and a whole room for stretching, HIIT classes, rowing, and more. I find it very affordable as well.

I had a VERY negative experience at Crunch Dorchester and DO NOT RECOMMEND this gym. I know it was my responsibility to read the contract, and the fees were stated there, but before signing I specifically asked about cancellation MANY TIMES. Instead of saying they weren’t sure or pointing me to the contract, the staff confidently gave me the wrong information (after checking with the manager!!). That was the only reason I decided to join.

When I later tried to cancel, both the Assistant General Manager and the General Manager (Sydney) refused to honor what had been promised and insisted on charging fees.

My intention here is not to dispute the cancellation fee or argue about the contract. I know exactly what was told to me, my wife was present as a witness, and they still refuse to acknowledge that we were given incorrect information.

This whole situation could have been avoided with proper staff training and honest communication. My advice: be very careful with what the staff tells you, and always get everything in writing.

My stepdaughter recently told me she was interested in signing up for Crunch. I’ve never been much of a gym person myself and past injuries have held me back from joining. But when we spoke with the new manager on the phone, I was blown away. She was so encouraging, motivating, and charismatic. She took the time to talk through my injury in detail and explained how rehabbing it was possible with trainers she highlighted so well, that I think they would cry if they heard of highly she thought of them. When we came in for the tour, I was genuinely moved I don’t think I’ve ever been so impacted by one person. She was so helpful and understanding that I was brought to tears when we left and I felt this was the proper response to share my experience.
My stepdaughter has since joined, and she constantly tells me how much she appreciates having staff who know her, motivate her, and make her feel welcomed. She loves the gym and the atmosphere. I honestly can’t recommend a gym more than Crunch Dorchester.

I joined crunch In Braintree Ma 2 months ago because of my schedule I wasn't able to continue, also I signed up for personal training which started on July 2nd. The trainer texted me the day before to confirm and I told her unfortunately I have to cancel my training ,she said because I signed up for auto pay I need to stop by the next day to ask for Morgenne. I did stop by but she was in a meeting, I waited 15 minutes and I wasn't able to stay longer. The woman at the desk told me she will let her know to call me. Couple weeks passed by and I never received any call. I was very busy with my personal things until on July 31st I received a call from Morgenne because it's been a month since I had never gone to the gym. Also I let her know that I want to cancel my membership because I am busy with other things. She said I need 30 notices before cancellation and I asked her regarding my annual fee. On my mind I thought I was all set, because she didn't mention anything regarding my training. She asked me to come to see her to finalize everything, I came she said they card on file wasn't good I was confused because I just used at stop and shop across of the fitness, I told her something is going on with your system , I will call you with a different card to proceed with the payment. Today I called her with a new card and she changed $800 which put me in the negative. I called her and she said it's my past due balance. I came twice and we spoke with her twice and she was awarded by the trainer and I need to come see her to sign that form to cancel my auto pay and she never mentioned anything until I made the payment. Even I asked her to give me the info for the regional manager she stated she is the manager for Braintree and the regional manager as well and no above her. I told ok I will do my research, which I find out the regional manager name is John Badot. Later in the day She emailed me John information .

Came by today on a guest pass. Hadn't been here since the BSC days back in 2019 or so. I was blown away by the improvements. An employee named Carter showed me around and got me acclimated in the most comprehensive 5 minute tour I have experienced in any fitness facility.
The members were conscientious- everyone was wiping down their equipment and polite about working in. The energy in here was very welcoming and I definitely intend to join.

Not honest about pricing. I took the time to sign up and put all my info and my credit card information in and then at the end the terms and agreement were complete opposite of what employees told me. I joined under a 29.95 a month special in Braintree, with no commitment. This was a scam. After 2 weeks, they started billing me at $49.95. When I tried to cancel, I was told that I had to pay for 2 months before canceling. I was smart not to use my regular credit card, so they can continue to bill all they want. They won’t get my money.

I am infuriated by the business practices of this place. I saw some reviews below about reporting this to the Attorney General, and I plan to do the same and request back pay for the months I've been over paying. Here is what happened.

I was a member of Boston Sports Clubs before it was bought by Crunch. I paid $49.99/month, which included unlimited fitness classes. I spent most of my time in the class studio. When bought over by Crunch, BSC members were told that we would be locked in at our BSC rate and would not be subject to price increases. While this sounds great, I later found out that new Crunch members were only paying $34.99 for a membership with amenities and as low as $9.99 for a basic membership. I am outraged because I've been paying basically $50 for months, and I was told that this was a good deal and they valued me for staying with the new ownership. When I called to inquire in early January, they told me that they just set these prices, but Crunch is a chain gym with set pricing across the board, so that didn't make any sense. I then called back to make sure that if these so called prices were just set, then my February bill should be lower. I was told that I am still locked in at the BSC rate for February! I demanded to change this to the basic package, because there are no amenities/fitness classes at this gym, despite up-charging members for them. The woman on the phone said she cannot guarantee that I won't have to pay another yearly fee for changing my membership. I just paid $69.99 for the 2025 year. If this is the case, I will absolutely be canceling my membership here.

If you join this gym, I recommend reading your membership very carefully and getting all questions answered in writing.

Parking!!!!!! I have been going to this gym for years now. The parking is unreal. They used to monitor the parking lot and tow individuals who parked there while they dined in a nearby restaurant. This is no longer the case especially on weekends. You can watch people walk out of restaurants to their cars when you are trying to find parking and there are clearly signs not to park. I have asked gym staff and they said that they do monitor parking , however I have yet to see it.

Former BSC members were given and strongly encouraged to sign a form to avoid increased cost of membership from BSC to crunch. We were told we would be locked in at our current memberdhip rate. They stated in person and on the form that this premier crunch site would be much higher than the current rate of our membership. The rate would be 100-150 a month. This is not that case. I am still paying $50 dollars a month while new members are paying $30 a month. They capitalized on having former BSC members pay more by keeping their old BSC membership. Even when asked about why we are paying more, there is no clear answers. I suggest anyone who was a BSC member and signed this former to go in and rewrite their contract. A few friends of mine have written to the Attorney General of MA and have reported this to the better business bureau.

If cleanliness is next to godliness, then Crunch Gym is the celestial palace of fitness. Every machine sparkles like it’s been blessed by a monk with a microfiber cloth. You could probably eat your post-workout chicken and rice off the dumbbells (but don’t—people will stare).
They’ve got everything. Machines for muscles you didn’t even know existed, enough free weights to build a pyramid, and cardio equipment for days. It’s like stepping into a gym equipment catalog. Need to work out your eyebrows? I’m sure they have a machine for that, too.
But oh, the busy hours. At peak times, it’s less of a gym and more of a mosh pit with treadmills. You’ll find yourself doing cardio just trying to navigate to the squat rack, dodging jump-ropers and hopeful spotters like you're in an obstacle course. Sharing machines becomes a test of patience and diplomacy: "Mind if I jump in real quick?" becomes the anthem of the crowded gym floor.
That said, Crunch is my new home gym, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. The vibe is electric, the staff is friendly, and the gains are undeniable. Plus, if you can survive a busy-hour workout here, you can survive anything. 9/10 would recommend—just maybe bring a snack for the line at the leg press.

Staff is great! They are always super friendly, helpful, and ready to answer any questions. I’ve been a member since this location was BSC so I went through the transition as well. The new renovations and equipment has been an incredible upgrade. They doubled their dumbbell quantities, added new power racks, back equipment, and some other miscellaneous equipment as well. They also refurbished all the old equipment they kept with new padding and anything else the equipment may have needed. I was honestly nervous about the transition but I’ve been very pleased so far and would recommend anybody to check it out! Just wanted to say again the staff is incredible!! Jacqui is always so warm and welcoming it’s an amazing way to be greeted every day and Reggie answered all my annoying questions about the new equipment. Thanks to the both of you!

I have been a member since it was Boston Sports Club. When Crunch came in, they promised an open-floor concept by tearing down the wall, leading to the studio no one uses, and also bringing in new, better traditional equipment than the current ones. I came to find out that the half-million renovation was not true. There is no open concept like it was promised. Instead, they’re retaining 90% of the crappy equipment. The only thing they’re bringing in is new dumbells and a couple of pulley machines. If people wanted the so-called recovery lounge, they would join Equinox. The only great about the location is the staff. I'm definitely going to switch to Braintree as my primary location; they have way better equipment.

Been going 2 years consistently. Great gym. It’s on the medium size but it’s very well laid out. Obviously can get busy after 5p but dies down. Lots of equipment for full strength training and cardio. Barbell/free weights/kettle bells. Very large studio with good group classes like yoga. Turf area with boxes. There’s an Olympic platform with bumpers. Lots more. Friendly, respectful clientele; squat parties are rare. Staff is great; broken machines fixed quickly 👍

Looks nice, usually pretty clean. Go when it's quiet if you can, I won't even bother going in during busy times, it is way too small. The class area is a complete waste of space, it could be used for additional and/or a better variety of equipment. Instead you'll be waiting for machines or benches while bumping into people. I bring my own towel, the "large" ones they supply are too small and scratchy. Careful how long you stay there, your car will get towed. Very pricey for such a small place with a lack of amenities. I pay it only out of convenience. Otherwise it's fine...

Cancelled my membership awhile ago. Found out I was still paying for it long after. I guess it’s common there- which is not surprising considering a poor/rude/unsafe encounter (she turned off a treadmill while someone was doing sprints because he said he’d talk to her right when he was done, and she couldn’t wait) I witnessed with a manager (Ashley). I called back to report what I saw and the phone was given to Ashley who was obviously still angry, she was mean and then hung up. Oh well. This place was great, that’s why I’m giving it two stars. However, it’ll take a lot of changes for me to go back. Pretty scummy place.

HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES and the manager (Ashley) was uncaring with my issues (even managed to hang up on me at the end of the call) . I decided to join this gym in the summer since they had multiple locations and I travel for work. The sales rep sold me a membership saying “we actually have a discount on memberships for the travel pass at 50 percent off”. Never did she once mention that it was for two months only and then would shoot back up to the regular 99$ a month. Ive worked in a gym before and am a sales manager currently. I know what questions to ask and would have never done the membership if this had been disclosed to me. She didnt lie to me but she purposely only mentioned its 50% off right now. Very misleading and sneaky. THE REVIEWS YOU READ ABOUT THIS GYM ARE TRUE. DONT BOTHER WITH BSC DORCHESTER

Received a charge for $15.99 for NYSC's Englewood location. I have never stepped foot in the state of New Jersey and i was told that the only way to get my money back for a mistake ON NYSC's end was to recieve a credit. I am moving away on Feb. 2 and i was told that if i cancelled my membership i would be stuck with this charge. This is entirely unprofessional and will be following up with my bank to dispute the charge.

Stay away from this place!!!
They will try to prevent you from cancelling and keep billing you forever, even after you have moved, called in for cancellation and stopped payment. They send you to collector! When you walk in for cancellation, their “authorized person” is always not in, so that they can keep charging you. Their equipments are insufficient and beat up. During after work hours, there is no open treadmill or bench. If you lift weights you will have to stand shoulder to shoulder with the next person, which is dangerous and uncomfortable. If you want to walk lounges, sorry, the only space is reserved for private sessions only, which charges additionally. Really bad gym. Do yourself an favor and stay away.

So very disappointing. Payed the 15 bucks a months to not use then for 8 months. Got laid off. Called and emailed two weeks ago to cancel my membership and was told I had to do in person on via certified mail. So I waited two weeks until I could go and while canceling the game a cancellation over the phone. Cost me 10 bucks to cancel and 1.5 months at the full price. Would me never go back.

At first, I thought this place would be just as good as the one in downtown. I did not know how wrong I was. My fiancé and I had memeberships at this BSC because we lived three minutes away. However, right before we moved to a different town in late February, we were told that we had to come in to cancel our memberships, which is what we did. My fiance walked over while I ubered to the gym during my lunch break. He was all set and I came in and I was all set or so I thought. I kept on getting billed for the next few months and while I called a few weeks ago stating my name and asked why my membership wasn’t canceled, I was asked if I knew how to speak English and if I could speak it correctly. Next time I called I was asked (apparently by the guy who cancelled my fiancé’s account) if I actually did show up (mind you, I have an Uber reciept showing that I did go there.) When I talked to the manager, she said that she didn’t see me on tape with my fiancé and took “us going together” quite literally. When I told her my arrival time, she said she would look at the tapes again and call me back the following day. It’s been almost two weeks since then and each time I call to follow up, I get told I’ll be called back and the complaint that I call too many times. How is once or twice a week to follow up on a billing issue too many times? Never had I had to deal with a gym that’s racist as well as severely irresponsible. It’s been such a stressful expirience. For those who want to go to a good gym, just go to the Y. They’ll care about you.

Signed up at this location when it opened, but usually go to other locations as they are closer to where I work. Just visited this location again and was amazed at how poorly maintained it is. I counted no less than 10 cardio machines out of order, including both stair climbers. There is an exit sign by the Gallivan Blvd emergency exit that fell down back when the club was new and it still has not been put back up. Not that any of this comes as a surprise. It's par for the course for BSC in general, but I expected this location to be in better shape given how new it is.

I’ve been a member since it opened. Currently at least half the treadmills are out of order and have been for several months. None of the stair climbers work, going on 6 months on those. Lifting equipment regularly breaks and doesn’t get fixed for extended periods of time.

Not worth the premium price they charge, you’re better off at Planet Fitness down the street.

Never do i make reviews but i wanted to make sure this was said. I Joined here about a year ago when they first opened but were still under construction. Half the facility is out of order and out of use. So I decided to terminate my membership. The only compensation I received was a passport memebership which grants you pribledges to other locations. In my case I joined here for the convenience of it being a 2 minute walk from my house. So that doesn’t help me at all one bit. So I let it go. After waiting 2 years I decided to rejoin after the construction was complete this year. I joined in January and everything seemed to be ok. Until about a month in I started to notice that the equipment is not being fixed. They have 2 stair masters and within 3 months they BOTH are broken have not been fixed. Still a sign hangs off saying it is out of order. What ever, so I started running. I came in today on March 9th 2019 and more than HALF OF THE TREADMILLS ARE OUT OF ORDER. Absolutely unacceptable. There are lines of people waiting to use the equipment. When I made a complaint to the memeber at the front desk he told me that I have been granted a passport membership and I can use other facilities. AGAIN. Does not help at all. Either offer a free month or two OR FIX THE EQUIPMENT. I would recommend to join planet fitness which is right down the street. Maybe not as clean but at least they are timely with fixing their equipment.

Beware of shi**y cancellation policies - you ask to cancel and they will begin the 45 day "cancellation period". In other words, you keep paying for another 45 days. Extremely unprofessional when you are trying to cancel your membership. Went back to college and tried to cancel my membership. When I was charged after I tried to cancel I contacted the general manager and told her I tried to cancel it since I was back at school and she did not help me out whatsoever. She even said she would get back to me regarding cancelling my membership since it didn’t go through and then never called me back as well as refused to respond to emails or phone calls after the fact. I even had my mother go down with my original letter to hand it to them in person to cancel and they still charged me! Do I have to sign my letter in blood to be able to cancel? I spent well over a couple grand over the course of a year and they cannot show any respect or decency to someone just trying to cancel their membership.

I like this gym but I have a couple of recommendations.

-Remove a couple treadmills don't ever seem to all be in use. Get a stretch machine/apparatus, like the BSC south end has.
-Push the equipment that's against the front windows closer to the windows. Ex: the chest fly/upper back machine is about 8-10 inches off the wall. It creates a very narrow path for anyone to walk by. I think this will help create a more seamless flow.
- make sure the equipment works. Nothing is more annoying when you start on a treadmill,etc, and theta channels or music doesn't work.
- tv channels,should be turned to something other then soap operas

Customer service absolutely terrible. Moved out of state for a good 4 months and have spoken to SEVERAL managers about my cancellation. Been charged 4 times for my monthly fee, which had been guranteed by one of the managers that it has been taken care of. Impossible to get a hold of any managers since. I've been emailing one of them for 4 months about this and still no cancellations, no refunds. Ive sent my proof of address of where I am now. How can you run a business like this?
