As a woman on the autism spectrum I wear a mask to the gym both for health reasons and because it helps me feel more comfortable. Unfortunately, my experience at this Crunch Fitness location has been very disappointing.During a recent workout, a man took a photo of me without my consent, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable.I go to the gym to focus on my health not to be photographed and laughed at .Sadly, this is the only gym within walking distance for me. However, I want to caution others who wear masks for personal reasons, or who are on the autism spectrum, that this gym is not an understanding environment.As someone who has worked very hard and lost over 100 pounds, it’s deeply discouraging to feel mocked and unwelcome in a space meant for self improvement. I sincerely hope that management takes steps to better train staff on how to handle harassment and to foster a more inclusive and respectful atmosphere for all members.If this continues I might have to contact a lawyer because as a disabled woman I am being actively traumatized by this situation.

Contracts are deceptive.
Personal Training isn't worth it.
Machines will go months without being fixed.
Staff are young and just lounge around most the day. Clean the gym and re-rack weights with all that free time. They also lack much authority or training other than the manager to handle simple admin tasks.
The location and times of operation are the only saving grace for this gym. The value is not there, and I recommend if you can find a better gym to go to put your money elsewhere.
I hope they are bought out in the near future; the surrounding neighborhood deserves so much better.

i already had paid the month correctly and they charged it again 2 days after, also the balance is still increasing and i,ve only been going to this gym for 1 moth😂😂. i made 2 reports about this problem and haven’t heard anything from them, also i have talked and called to the gym staff and they do not even know🤦🏻♂️. don’t go to this gym

I'd give this gym zero stars if possible. Terrible management, terrible workers. Weights all over the place and doesn't open on time. Currently it's 719 on a Saturday AND NO ONE showed up again to open the place.
Edit - 7/5/25 - 7:11 AM. No one is here to open this place again. I will be adding to this every time it happens.
Edit - 8/4/25. 5:08 AM. No one opened gym again. This happened on 7/28/25 as well. Yet another 2 times I couldn't use the gym.
Overall I've missed a months worth of time since I've joined this place due to it not opening. Unreal and WORST gym I've ever belonged to.
The weight are now beginning to break too due to people there throwing them/dropping them. These things are not safe to use.

DO NOT GO!!! Horrible staff, they trapped me in a year long contract after the employee in the front offered to sign me up. I specifically asked if I could cancel with them anytime and the employee at the desk told me yes. Then months later I wanted to cancel because I was moving and they told me I can’t and that I’m in a year long contract. I spoke with the manager exactly what had happened and he told me, “My employees would never lie to someone like that, you’re just trying to cancel now because according to your account you haven’t been to the gym in a week…”. Horrible and disrespectful management and overall a terrible place!

Straight beat gym I ever been to. If you want to get in shape this is the place you want to be at. The atmosphere makes you want to hit two a days because everyone in there is going hard to better them selves. I been to over 100 gyms in mass and the roslindale crunch is spacious and always has machines open never once have I waited on a machine to lift

They refuse to cancel my membership. They say because I signed up for the year membership I can’t cancel until the year is up. AFTER I had already spoken to someone else who told me my membership was canceled. In addition, there is ABSOLUTELY NO WHERE ON THE SITE NOR IN THE AGREEMENT FORM THAT SAYS I CAN NOT CANCEL BEFORE THE YEAR IS UP .

Ok so it’s affordable and they heave good equipment which is why you go to Crunch. But this has to be the worst location. It is late to open at least 2 days a week. Literally sitting my car currently when the gym was supposed to open 25 minutes ago. Then they will have a class and kick you out 30 minutes early to set up even though you got there with the intention of finishing up before they have to do that. Nobody puts their equipment back or away after use - which is not fully the staffs fault but there is 0 reinforcement and most mornings I come in to absolute chaos. Dumbbells everywhere, barbells racked with 3 plates each side, stuff from the HIIT room spread amongst the gym. No effort by staff to tell people to put their stuff back and there’s maybe one staff member I’ve seen make an effort to clean up. Lastly, they will hand you broken bar clips time and time again as if that’s safe. Just throw them out and get new ones or say you don’t have any. I’ve been to other locations and at this point don’t care that this location is most convenient because if they’re going to be late to open I might as we drive 30 minutes out of my way. Not sure if the staff just doesn’t get paid enough to care, they don’t get sufficient training, or if they just need more oversight.

I been going here since it was opened. It’s solid for a cheap option. Friendly staff and a good price. I enjoy the gym. One thing I noticed tho is for the first ten years they always played Latin and hip hop and now they don’t haha. Gentrification has swooped in Roslindale and it seems they are playing all bad rock music eventho 95% of the clients are still black and latin and don’t like this music . Doesnt make sense.

Please dont come to this gym, a couple months ago I had a couple late fees on my account because of the wrong card i had on file, I spoke to the manager over there about it (short black guy) everything was settled and i explained to him what happened and i paid and went to the gym, a couple months later the same thing happened with my card on file and i paid the late fees just like the policy says. A couple weeks after this guy sees me (the manager) coming to the gym and starts trashing me talking about i had late fees on my account, mind you these late fees were a couple weeks ago and my account was active and everything was paid but he wanted to remind me that i had late fees and tried to embarrass me in front of his employees to show how much power he has. After standing up for myself since my account was paid and active for more than a couple weeks, i didnt understand why he brought this conversation up since i didnt have any fees or any balance to pay. He said he didnt like my tone and how im standing up for myself, he decided to revoke my membership for absolutely no reason, the police had to be involve in all of this, even the cops didnt understand why he was doing this and they understood that he just wanted to show his power( since my membership was active and paid) The worst thing about this whole situation is that Crunch fitness has no cooperate office to contact if you have any issues with an employee. They have regional managers which you cant contact unless they give you his/her number. The same guy that revoked my membership (short black guy) said he wasnt allowed to give me any number to put my part of the story in. I dont usually do reviews but this situation was something i had to put out there for people know whats going on in this place! Please thing twice before signing up here, plenty of other great gyms in the area!

Not only is the gym conveniently located, the staff including Coach Pierre, Brandon, Dwight, Patrick, Natalie, Gabriel, Jeremiah, Nelson and Arlette are truly amazing and really want to see everyone meet their fitness goals 🙂. They are very welcoming and willing to answer any questions you have and the individual coaching and group classes are both a challenging and rewarding experience. Most of the gym goers are also friendly and willing to help you if needed. The equipment is in good condition and the gym has come a long way from when I originally became a member years ago.
For the price, it is absolutely worth it and a good investment.

They won’t cancel your membership and let it renew and than you’ll have to pay for another year. If you don’t they’ll send it to a debt collection. Go to Mike fitness or a gym that doesn’t require commitment and can cancel easily

Plus really clean bathrooms It used to but now when I went back, new staff but they try to pressure into personal training when you don't want it. After 7 years of going to this gym I was recently charged $69.99 for a yearly fee on top of my monthly $26.99 fee. GREED at it's finest. I cancelled my membership and the girl at the desk tells me rudely they are not refunding me my $69.99 yearly fee so I had to put a dispute in with my credit card over this greed. They just increase the costs and they expect you to pay. Never joining this gym ever again.

Great for its value and proactive with personal training & classes. They just gotta clean the place more, bathroom trash bin is always overflowed and I found a rotten apple core near the massage area once. Ultimately I left because I ran into too many instances where patrons were “reserving” machines despite not physically being at them. One time an older dude halted me from using the bench because another guy across the gym, doing a different workout, had called it. Just not the right gym etiquette, not the right environment for me, but I respect the work they do and can appreciate that it’s a very local & inviting community atmosphere for some.

Update: With the renovations Crunch Roslindale is doing pretty well. With great workers/staff like Shaquai the place keeps afloat. I do hope Shaquai is being paid his worth, from his early arrivals to the gym, to the care he shows customers and other staff.

For the past few months, my friends and I have been under scrutiny because we work out together. There's a misconception that our friend, who use to be a trainer, was instructing us, which wasn't the case. We've been using the gym regularly since it reopened. However, on March 25, things reached a breaking point when we were repeatedly questioned and monitored, ultimately being denied access to work out. This led me to cancel my membership, and upon doing so, they agreed to NOT cancel it.
On March 26, I contacted the general manager to express my concerns respectfully. However, MARIAH's response was unprofessional and aggressive. She continuously raised her voice and didn't attempt to listen to my perspective. This lack of professionalism and disregard for customer service is unacceptable. I refuse to remain bound by a contract I never signed, especially when my signature isn't presented on the agreement. I am eager to escalate this matter to someone from corporate.

I am extremely dissatisfied with the service I received at Crunch. As a loyal member since they opened in American Legion, I expected better treatment. Today, like every Monday around 2pm, I went to the gym to train with my friend. However, I was stopped by the regional manager JON BADOT and the general manager MARIAH. They informed me that my friend needed to have a membership in order to workout with me. This was surprising to me because I am already paying for my $30 membership which give me the opportunity to bring a guest. I had informed my friend that he could work out with me as a guest.
(To provide some background, my friend used to work at Crunch as a trainer when it first opened, and I used to work out with him after he obtained his training certificate. We explained this to the general manager MARIAH). The regional manager JON insisted that my friend was training me based on the camera footage, where he was seen picking up weights and correcting my form. We argued that even though he has the expertise and is working out with me, he should still be allowed to do so. We wanted to understand the reasoning we provided him with an example: If a married man who is a personal trainer, paying for the Peak results membership for $30 stretching his wife, asking if she would be required to get a membership. The regional manager JON response was that they would indeed make the wife get a membership. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE! Because if my wife only works out with me why would she get a membership when I can bring her.
In conclusion they also told me I would still be charge for another $30 even though my membership is canceled tomorrow. According to Crunch, even if I have expertise in training, my own friends/family members cannot receive help from me, and I should let them suffer. If Crunch decides to respond to this review. Please bring the policy, stating that friends and family members with training expertise cannot work out together, any other comment is none acceptable without proof of what that regional manager told me. As a longtime member of this gym, I expected to be treated better. It seems that we are all treated as insignificant by Crunch. This experience has opened my eyes to why people choose not to return to this gym once they leave. MEMBERSHIP CANCELED

The gym is spacious, has good classes and I love the HIIT space. Why only 3 stars? CLEANLINESS!! The over flowing trash cans, empty paper towel dispensers and empty coffee cups and water bottles in the workout spaces have to be dealt with. Overall, it's a really solid facility.
The building is spacious and the open floor plan really helps to ease foot traffic during peak hours. It's well stocked with a good variety of equipment. The staff is personable and helpful. The group classes are challenging yet accessible and the instructors do a good job of keeping you motivated. There are a lot of people of color, which is a game changer (especially in Boston).
It's a great community gym, all things considered.

This gym has come a long way. I've been coming here for a year and it's night and day from when I originally started coming here. Before it seemed like things were all over the place and the staff made a lot of people uncomfortable, but now the atmosphere has completely changed and is bright and inviting. The classes are also top-notch. The manager Moriah always greets you with a big bright smile that brightens the room. Keep up the awesome job guys.

BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES!!
On 1/3- I went to the Crunch website to sign my daughter up for a membership in Swansea, MA and my page was set to enroll her there. I work closer to Boston, so at some point in the transaction, the web page changed to Roslindale and erroneously, a membership was purchased for that location. I immediately enrolled her in Swansea, but after noticing a location switch again, I emailed the Roslindale manager. No response. On 1/17, I emailed again- No response. Today, 1/19, I called and spoke with Mariah, the manager on duty I assume. I mentioned the 2 previous emails and reiterated the situation and then asked for a refund of the enrollment and cancellation of membership, which will never be used in that location. She basically said that she can't refund me, but will cancel the membership. There was no attempt to even rectify the situation. This is just so shady. Enjoy that extra $60 revenue Crunch!

PLEASE READ. first off, the management here is so poorly trained on politeness and honesty. instead, they’re trained on being rude, how to forge information and signatures, and rob people. my mother did not sign any agreement after being offered all these deals verbally and instead they put some weird signature on their own that doesn’t even say a name! it also has the wrong name listed for card owner and a different birthday in the information! that’s how bad they are and clearly create fake documents. when she went to confront them a manager who is some lady by the name of moira or however the hell you say/spell it, got so confrontational with her opening her eyes with attitude yelling saying she’s not getting her money back and told her to leave. the other manager, jennifer, who swindles innocent people like my mother, has been dodging her. crunch fitness sure knows how to pick them! I URGE YOU TO WATCH OUT. if your bank can’t help with this since clearly crunch can’t, you’ll be bringing them to civil court as well.

I was a member for 8 years and the new manager and staff are why I cancelled my membership. They are unbelievably rude and I can’t believe the way they talked to and treated a long-term paying member. As a warning, and example, of their questionable business practices, they closed the gym for many weeks by leaving a note on the door and gave no notice and no timeframe. And, they charged the membership fee while they were closed and said it was because we had access to the Braintree branch (though that information wasn’t posted anywhere). There are so many reasons to NOT join this gym and I would recommend finding a nearby pf instead.

Cancelled my membership after a little over 2 years. The staff they had in 2021ish is vastly different than now. The equipment is often broken, staff used to be progressive in getting people to follow gym etiquette. Having people share machines and weights in between reps. You can’t even work out in a reasonable time with people doing 10 sets and not wanting to let people use weights when they’re resting. Staff used to make sure the place was constantly cleaned, they just be in the front playing on their phones flirting with people

The worst gym ever for customer service. They are here just for your money. They forced me to take the trial with the highest plan, I did not agree, the manager told me I will not be charged until I choose another plan after the trial. After two days, I contacted them to end my membership, they have never responded to my call. I wrote them, no response at all. I only go to the gym two days and did not like their management.
Once you enroll, you get in a trap!!!
Everyone should avoid this gym!!!!!!!!!!

This place gets 2 stars for effort. They had so many broken equipment. I felt like I was in a college gym room. Nobody wipes down machines, and they barely have wipes to wipe it down. The AC only works in the bathrooms, which are dirty. I didn't see any staff cleaning machines just socializing most of the time. It's alot of young adults and college kids that go there.

The things that I did like was they offered classes and they have two separate rooms for classes. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The music was good.

If you like a college type of gym setting, then this is the place for you.

I have been a member at Crunch since April,2022. The environment of the gym is fun and support your motivation. My issue with this gym is how things are handled when it comes to cancelling memberships. Perimeter failed to process my cancelation request and charging me additional fees on top. Finally, I have driven 45 minutes in person after 12 hour work all exhausted, to talk to them and explained the reason why I want to cancel due to long commute and confirmed the cancellation. They offer to freeze my account, I declined the offer and he told me he can not cancel my membership. This is predatory behavior of your franchise. I have not use your service over 9 months. And still, to this day I keep charging me for Personal Training and membership at Crunch that I can't even use. I want my account terminated IMMEDIATELY, all fees retracted upon the receipt of this complaint.

Workers play their own music so loud it goes through noise canceling headphones so you are forced to work out to whatever they are playing. I dont care what type of music is played but the volume, especially under the speakers, is unreasonable loud all the time

Update July 19th: The water fountain still has not been addressed. So the only way to get water is through the hand washing sinks in the bathrooms or they charge you for water. Also, they are now putting out toilet paper instead of paper towels for cleaning. Which are not effective because toilet paper shreds. The people at the front do not clean the place nor walk around putting away equipment like the other Crunch gyms do. I've been to the one in Braintree, NY, and FL and all have staff that walks around and show they care about the place. Finally, I did email management a few weeks ago with no response as of yet as to how they will address the issues.
Previous Post:The place has excellent equipment and the renovations make it look good. However, the place is constant messy. People never put weights away, leave paper towels all over the place, cardio machines haven’t been cleaned in weeks- still sweat stains all over them from months ago, paper towel machines are not always filled, and one water fountain does not work while the other barely dribbles. I love crunch and this is the closest one but the cleanliness is a HUGE problem.

This place is disgusting, no janitors to clean the bathrooms, common areas, trash everywhere, toilets constantly clogged. The only good thing about this place is the rennovations and classes. But wait theres no Air Conditioning in the the rooms so it gets super hot so beware….they dont even play music anymore in the common area too. If I didnt get a year membership i would have quit and went to planet fitness because they are constantly cleaning and putting weights back in their place. The workers and management is lazy and no one cares about the sanitary conditions. Do not come here its not worth it!

The boss at Crunch Fitness in Roslindale is mad disrespectful. Today I went in to pay for my membership, he told me I couldn’t pay because he needed my account number which whenever I’m paying I’ve always pay cash. When I tried to talk to him he called me rude because I didn’t want to give him account number since they’ve been charged me twice every times they took money out of my account. It’s not the first time he did that to me or my friends that’s my friends left and now it’s my turn to leave because I won’t tolerate no racist behavior towards me, my friends or my family members.

They have some very unprofessional trainers there. I recently signed up at this location in the beginning of January and met with the trainer Arthur Lyon. After our session I signed up for 4 sessions each month with him and this location and he has cancelled/ rescheduled every session after that. The first paid session was January 14th and i haven't had one after that. He waits until the last second to cancel. One day he had me come to the Gym at 6 in the morning and wasn't there when I showed up. I texted him to see where he was but he never showed and didn't reply until 7:40 PM.
With it now being February and me having only met with Arthur Lyon once I tried to cancel my remaining sessions and payments and was told I cant do that and I would be charged the two additional months regardless. SO I am being told I have to pay for services I never received.

Members should not have to go through hoops to have their membership put on hold when it is not their fault. This should have been done automatically since I'm sure you knew far in advance. The gym was closed in December because of the city. I did not get any email informing me about this, but I was charged the monthly amount. How is this possible? I tried to cancel the membership online but your portal doesn't offer this option. I sent an email and no one has gotten back to me. I tried to call, but no one is taking the calls.

Dirty, broken equipment, poor variety of equipment, and poorly trained staff. On a regular day, it barely even functions as a gym. What has really put the nail in the coffin for me, however, is that for several days now it has been inexplicably closed without warning and without any indication when and if it will reopen. Ironically, when you try to call the gym no one picks up and a prerecorded message inaccurately states the gym is “open.” At this point, it seems at least an ethical violation (if not a contractual one) that I am being charged for a gym that does not even open.

I have been a member of this gym since it opened in 2015. I have never complained or written a review, but enough is enough. I use this gym out of convenience, I get there at 5AM so I am able to be at work on time. Going to this gym is night is not an option, it is a circus and over crowded.
Your members have dealt with the numerous pieces of broken equipment, incredibly dirty and unsanitary restroom conditions, which would be enough for most to go to another gym.
BUT YOU CAN'T OPEN ON TIME?? HOW IS THIS AN ISSUE?? IF YOU ARE A BUSINESS WITH LISTED HOURS, OPEN ON TIME. IF YOU LIST THAT YOU OPEN AT 5AM, THIS DOES NOT MEAN OPEN AT 5:30 AM OR LATER. THESE ARE THE BASICS. YOU ARE NOT STICKING TO YOUR END OF THE AGREEMENT. THIS IS NOW A WEEKLY ISSUE WHERE THE GYM DOES NOT OPEN ON TIME- ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
ITS A SHAME, THAT CRUNCH CONTINUES TO TAKE OUR MONEY AND NOT HOLD UP TO THEIR END OF THE AGREEMENT.

My home gym is Brockton which I get it, it’s newer but there’s no excuse for a gym like this in Roslindale to be this poorly maintained. I have been to 6 locations and Roslindale location is by far the worst one. I Will never come back I rather just go harder the next day if I can’t make it.

What a great gym! The staff is so friendly and helpful and I took one of the best Zumba classes I have ever been to there..The instructor was amazing and the energy was also amazing! and when i went outside after class there was a huge rainbow over the entire gym! and a gorgeous sunset! I will definitely find a way to stop there again for a workout in my travels....Ama is the instructors name...go try her great class!!
