I went to this gym for the first time with my mother-in-law, excited to try a new spin class together. When she originally enrolled, she was told she could bring a guest. She even called the night before to confirm and to add my name to the class list—they asked her to spell my name to make sure it was correct, so we thought everything was set.
When we arrived, the experience immediately went downhill. Three women behind the desk were talking among themselves, no smiles, no greeting. When I explained I was a guest, one of them just told me to fill out a form and go back to my car to get my ID—very blunt and unfriendly. My mother-in-law asked where my name was on the spin list, and two of the employees walked over. One of them said the class was full and that guests “aren’t even supposed to attend.” She followed it up with, “I’d let you come, but you’re not supposed to—and it’s full, so you can’t.”
My mother-in-law even offered to give me her spot, but by that point, after the attitude and complete lack of courtesy, I didn’t feel comfortable going alone. The whole point of a guest pass is to try the gym with someone you know. Instead, I felt unwelcome and dismissed.
One of the women responded with, “I’m not trying to be confrontational. I’m just telling you we give priority to members.” I explained we understood that—but that’s not what we were told the night before. And instead of trying to help or offer any solution, they made us feel like an inconvenience. At that point, I decided to leave.
I will never return to a Crunch Gym again—especially not the Swansea location. The customer service was rude, unprofessional, and completely unwelcoming. Absolutely disappointing experience.

Crunch Fitness Swansea is one of the most disappointing gyms I’ve ever encountered. On the surface, it markets affordability, variety of equipment, and the “judgment free” brand image, but in practice, it delivers a frustrating and unwelcoming experience.

The weekend hours are laughable—closing at 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday makes the gym practically unusable for anyone with a normal work or social schedule. Even when it is open, good luck finding equipment during the midday or afternoon. Overcrowding is the norm, and group classes routinely push paying members out of large portions of the gym during peak times. It’s absurd to pay for a membership only to be told you can’t use the space you’re paying for.

The so-called “judgment free zone” could not be more misleading. The gym is overrun with posturing “gym bros” and “gym girls” who treat the place more like a stage than a fitness center. Expect constant dirty looks, obnoxious behavior, and people dressed more for attention than working out. The HIIT zone is routinely hijacked by boxers who sprawl out, hog space, and make the environment even more hostile. If you’re not part of these cliques, prepare to feel like an outsider.

The membership itself offers almost nothing unless you pay a premium—no guest privileges, no meaningful perks, just access to an overcrowded, often partially closed gym. And to top it off, the staff are consistently rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. It’s clear management has no interest in creating a supportive or professional environment.

Crunch Swansea is a textbook example of a gym cutting corners, overselling its image, and squeezing members for every dollar while delivering the bare minimum. If you value your time, money, or comfort, look elsewhere. There are far better gyms that won’t waste your membership fee or subject you to such a toxic atmosphere

I’ve been going to Crunch in Swansea for a little while now, and overall, I’m pretty happy with it. The gym itself is huge—super spacious, clean, and loaded with all the equipment you could want. They’ve got everything from free weights and squat racks to machines, turf zones, and even HydroMassage beds for recovery. It definitely has a modern feel.

The staff are generally friendly and helpful. I had a great first experience when I signed up—they walked me through the place, explained everything clearly, and didn’t pressure me into a bunch of extras. The group classes are a nice bonus too. I’ve tried a few (like Zumba and HIIT), and they’re energetic without being too intimidating.

That said, it’s not perfect. It can get a bit crowded at peak times, especially in the weight area. I’ve also seen some large kids’ groups using the machines, which isn’t a huge deal, but it can slow things down. One small letdown is there’s no sauna or steam room, which I’d personally love after a tough session.

I haven’t had any billing issues myself, but I’ve heard Crunch (in general) can be a bit pushy with personal training add-ons, so just make sure you read the fine print before signing anything extra.

All in all, I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a solid gym with good energy and lots of variety. Just be smart about when you go and what you sign up for.

Love this place!! Very clean. Always has the available machines I’m looking for. A great variety of equipment. I’ve used the tanning and bulbs are very good for a nice tan. Lotions are available or bring your own. Hydromassage beds are clean and great after a workout. I love the HIIT area, that’s my fav area. The battle ropes are a huge plus!

The facility is well equipped with newer equipment. Rules an policies are at best lightly enforced. The facility is often over crowded with adolescence and un supervised.
The "Automatic renewal program" terms in the contract are not honored do to and inconvenience to the management at the club. I wonder if other parts of there "CONTRACT" will be broken if not convenient?

The staff here at Cruch are exceptional, however, you had better know other routines to get your workout in. This gym allows group of kids 5 and more to hang out and monopolized gym equipment. I had to wait approximately 40 minutes because a group of kids monopolized a piece of equipment.

When I joined this place I paid for a year in full . This morning I went in to work out I checked in and as I was warming up an associate walked up to me and advised me that my membership expired last Thursday. I asked them if I could finish my workout and I’ll renew on my way out . He told me that I’d have to renew now or leave in a rude manner , . So I left ! They never sent me a reminder notice or a bill in the mail stating that my membership was due to renew . I’ll Never step foot in that place ever again due to how they treated me ! Your response to this post is an absolute utter Lie! Nobody informed me of my membership expiring or the date it had expired until that miserable day! Apparently, I’m not the only one with this problem I’m about to describe .I signed up a couple years ago for membership and used the facility without any training. At one point last year I decided to take a couple training classes before a cycling event I was in.

They are all smiles when you first sign up, but their attitude changes and the real side starts to show. Check your bank account often and don’t fall victim like me. It’s unfortunate that they’re so low budget.they have to steal money from the customers.
I was introduced to Nick, who was to be my trainer and after a month, which was four classes. I told him I don’t need it and I don’t train August or September because the event is in September.
Sometime in November I noticed I had been charged several times for classes I didn’t ask for or take. Apparently somebody didn’t do their job who was supposed to walk me over to the same desk I signed up at and have me sign a form stating I was done with training, which never happened. I made it very clear that I didn’t want any more classes. I was charged for several 14 to be exact. Although they took money from my account illegally without authorization they still wouldn’t give me the money back and told me I could take all the classes that I paid for in the future. I did not appreciate the way they handled it ( rudely and immaturely ) keeping my money without my consent.
So of course, I went to use the classes four weeks ago and the rude general manager ALICIA brushed me off very rudely as if I didn’t matter. I’m sure if she was in the same position and someone raided her bank account she would want her money back too.

do not trust this place with your bank account numbers because they will twist it around and try to get more money from your account like they did to me. I was overcharged $160 and they scarfed at me when I brought it to their attention like it’s a big joke, so now I pass it to the fraud department and my bank and I won’t have to have anything to do with it. They will have to explain to the bank and the police if necessary.

I believe Alicia is/was the general manager. if you read other reviews, you’ll find a pattern of ALICIA being very rude and sarcastic.
as if they have an issue. Very childish. You should offer management classes before you put children on the floor..
I have my own business and If I treated customers this way, I wouldn’t be in business. If I ever had a problem with the customer, I would address it and make sure that they’re satisfied and I definitely would not take money that was not mine and tell you oh well too late. Your payments have expired.
I expect this to get resolved quickly and reassured it will not happen again. How dare you take money of mine from my account without my permission. Your manager needs to take classes on how to treat people l.
UPDATE : SOMEONE FROM CRUNCH EMAILED ME AND NO MENTION OF THE FRAUDULENT WITHDRAWAL FROM MY BANK ACCOUNT. BUT DID SAY “HAVE A NICE DAY “ AGAIN CHILDREN RUN THIS PLACE
I PASSED IT TO THE FRAUD DEPARTMENT AND CRUNCH WILL BE CONTACTED TO RETURN MY MONEY.

I’ve been going to crunch for a while now. The equipment, employees and classes are great. The biggest drawback as it gets more packed lately is that they close at 7pm Friday and early on weekends. Also their 3 fixed position cable fly machines are a complete waste of space. They could have put 2 adjustable fly machines instead and potentially add a squat rack with the saved space.

I can honestly say I have found the best gym! Well I really have to give the credit to ALL the trainers! I love the class choices, spin, HIIT, Zumba, strength training, Pilates, etc. the trainers make this gym, they are fantastic! I especially love the team bond I’ve become part of, we call ourselves “Mission Slimpossible”, in Rickey Lee’s classes. For anyone that takes one of Rickey’s classes, he asks if he can add you to his group chat. Here he asks for our input for his playlist, if we liked something new he may haves tried, what are our favorite areas to work on, he also has theme nights, where we try and wear the same color. When you actually look forward to getting to the gym every day, have the chance to meet some great trainers and friends, you know you found a great fit!

I've been going to this location for about a month now. It has great airflow, all the machines are modern, with smart watch capabilities, and built in fans into the machines. The main reason I signed with them, they have weighted rope and heavy punching bags. The staff are always nice and the facilities are always clean. I got the top membership because I can't live without a hydromassage after a intense workout session.

All staff are very rude, and unprofessional. Especially the manager. The bathrooms are disgusting. Honestly I don’t know how people even go here willingly everyday, Find a new gym!

I like this location. Crunch Fitness has a lot of the machines at most places do not have. I'm able to get there and go at ofttimes, and get in and out up there with a small variety of and be done.

place is an absolute joke. staff is rude if asked anything, and will interrupt your workout to complain your water bottle is on the floor. to boot they stole my money for MONTHS. i signed under base membership and later found out they had me paying the price for the highest possible plan.... offered no help when going to cancel or refund... and as a cherry on top, i was told to DOWNGRADE TO THE BASE PLAN i would have to pay an additional $80. absolutely mad. i have some reading to do.

Great staff, the manager welcomed me and gave me a full rundown of the the layout. I’m so happy they put a flyer on my car because I wouldn’t have known there was a new crunch opening near me! I’ve been searching for a new gym lately!

The only reason I give it a 3 star review is because the staff at this location is really difficult to deal with as in bringing in a guest the last time they told me I can't come here if my home base us not here and the classes are busy especially if you have a guest so I personally contacted the corporate office and let them know about that and they told me that because I am a member that I can go to any of our facilities with a guest and that they were embarrassed by that situation and to take their names of the people that give us a hard time so that the franchise owners can be contacted and address this issue

I joined Crunch when it first opened in Swansea, and never went. I After a few months of not using the facility I decided to cancel and called only to be told I had to come to the gym to cancel. I went to the gym on a Sunday morning and cancel my membership, and was told it was completed. Three weeks go by and I noticed that they are taking membership fees from my account. When I called they had no record of me canceling and would I like to stop by and cancel my account in person. I told them I did that and would they mind stopping by my house to cancel seeing that it was the second time, the rep replied that was I will call you in an hour, and you guessed it , no call back. I call again and was told by James that it was customary that customers pay an additional month because when I cancelled it was technically this month.
I find as I get older I hate getting the run around, as I tried calling a customer service representative at their home office in New York, and the recording said this phone is not monitored.
How can something so simple become so complicated???

Terrible cancellation policy have to drive all the way there or go to a post office or sign and date an official slip what a joke and still getting charged don’t recommend if need to relocate they don’t work with you! Crunch Fitness Swansea is the best gym ever! My sister and I go every morning and are always greeted by the smiling face of James, who has proved to be nothing but kind and helpful. We also took a yoga class with Karen, who is one of my favorite yoga instructors ever. I highly recommend trying this gym out if you’re looking for a new workout home!

The facility is great, 24/7 is an awesome perk. So far the classes that I've taken have been great, awesome workouts, the trainers definitely put thought into them. Overall the Mgmt., staff and trainers have all been great, knowledgeable, professional & personable.

As a former employee of Crunch and member at the Fall River location, I am very excited to have access to this new facility in my home town. It is beautiful, the equipment works wonderfully, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful! I especially love seeing James every morning at 5 as he always has a welcoming smile to help start the day. Highly recommend this gym for any and all!

The gym is beautiful and I am SO glad we have a gym that’s 24 hours around again, with my schedule I need something open late night. My ONLY complain I have is that the studios are only useable for classes. The group fitness studio would be perfect for late night stretching (the stretching area isn’t really a stretching area since there’s punching bags and other workout equipment people are using) and it just seems like a huge wasted space having those areas people can’t use.
