I've been loving taking classes at the Harvard location of Down Under Yoga - the teachers are engaging and attentive, and it's a great way to unwind on my way home from work! Could not recommend this studio enough.

After living in Cambridge for over a year, I was walking around Harvard Square looking for some place new to get me back into working out. I had tried other places but Down Under really stuck with me. The teachers here are one of a kind. Aside from the fact that they are some of the most knowledgable yoga instructors I have ever come across, they are also incredibly kind and thoughtful. They truly do care about you and will make a connection with you. I adore coming to this studio and have not been able to stop coming since I first walked in. They also have a good number of locations so if I am in a different part of town I can still check out another studio to get some yoga in. It was a great place for a beginner like me and has been great for me as I have gotten more experienced. Also the fact that it has a great cafe in the same building adds to the healthy ambiance. Getting a smoothie after doing some yoga makes me feel so good (even when I go and ruin that later in the day :)

I am from out of town. I am 50 yrs old and very fit. I typically do yoga 6 days a week. I was by far the oldest person in my class. It was the 1030 vinyasa on Fridays. The young gentleman who taught the class was judgey and critical of many of us. While doing a questionable balance of our tailbone on a block, I modified and adjusted my legs to protect my back. He scolded me in front of the whole class. He told me the class is not about me feeling good but it was instead about the group experience. He made me feel angry and disappointed instead of feeling peace and connection. I wholeheartedly disagree with this instructors approach to yoga. If I subscribed to that thinking, I would have been injured long ago and likely no longer practicing yoga. I really hope that someone can speak to this gentleman and explain that everyone’s bodies are different from each other and that it is extremely important to listen to your body so you do not get injured. When you do a class of course you should be respectful of the group but you should be permitted to modify to taylor your workout to your individual limitations. I will not be attending this instructors class in the future. I sincerely hope he does not cause anyone to hurt themselves. His instruction was not worth the risk of injury. I am in great shape because I listen to my body. Not because I follow every teachers instruction to the T.

I'm not one to leave bad reviews, but I really want to warn people, especially new parents taking the Baby + Me classes, about their non-transparent class pack policies.

I purchased the newbie trial to take Baby & Me. Once it ended, I was emailed by someone working there that they hope I've been enjoying the Baby + Me classes and then pushed their other membership options — if I wanted to get a monthly membership or a class pack. Given that I had an infant, I knew our schedule would remain ever-changing so I decided to go for the 10-pack. The person ran my card on file for $170.

Well, surprise surprise, with a baby is totally unpredictable and a year went by without me being able to make it to the studio. Then, I went to look at classes to find that my account didn't have any credits on it.

I reached out to customer service, replying to the email where I bought the pass and they ONLY THEN informed me that it expires after 6 months! Never was I told this before. I pressed them on this and they told me I could have my credits back if I paid ANOTHER $170+ for 10 more classes.

For a studio who acts like they care about new parents, I'm pretty disgusted. To have zero transparency this way is at best careless, but honestly left me feeling preyed upon as someone with a small baby — and it makes me wonder how much money they've made off of new parents this way.

The classes themselves were lovely, but I can't pass by or think of this studio without feeling so icky about the way they handle their business. There are so many ways to do better (transparency at the start, a receipt sent that has an expiration date, an email reminder that time is running out) but they did none of them.

Anyway, please be careful if you choose to buy a pass here!

From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a wave of warmth from the team—it truly feels like a second home.

The lower level studio space feels like a vibrant, energizing den. The mood lighting is EVERYTHING—soft, inviting, and somehow both calming and invigorating at the same time. It's the perfect environment to sink into your practice or even stay a while after class to soak up the serene yet productive energy.

The space is beautiful and well thought-out, and the community vibe is truly unmatched. It'll be hard for me to stay away!

I stumbled upon Down Under School of Yoga on a whim, drawn in by a special for newcomers as I walked by the studio offering unlimited classes for a month. After a five-year hiatus from yoga, I decided to give it a shot, hoping to reconnect with my practice. Little did I know this would become a transformative journey for me—physically, mentally, and spiritually.

During the month of October, I attended 20 hot yoga classes in a row, every weekday. The results were beyond anything I could have imagined: my body transformed, my mind felt clearer, and my spirit was uplifted. The instructors I met—Bendex, Travis, Marja, Lyndsey, and Masaaki—were exceptional. Each brought their own unique energy, expertise, and warmth to every class, making every session not just a workout but an experience of growth and renewal.

But what truly touched my heart, and what sets Down Under apart, was the kindness and compassion of the staff. Blue, the manager, and Justine, the owner, are extraordinary human beings. They took the time to listen to my story, to understand the challenges I was facing, and they went above and beyond to ensure I could continue my practice during a particularly tough time in my life. Their generosity and empathy left me deeply moved.

They showed me that this is not just a yoga studio; it’s a community that genuinely cares about the well-being of everyone who walks through its doors. Blue and Justine didn’t just help me maintain my yoga practice; they reminded me of the goodness in the world and the power of a supportive community.

I am writing this review to express my profound gratitude to everyone at Down Under School of Yoga. The classes are incredible, yes, but it’s the heart of this place that makes it truly special. I cannot thank the team enough for their empathy, kindness, and for creating an environment where transformation—on every level—is possible. I look forward to continuing my journey with this wonderful studio, as often as life allows.

Thank you, Down Under team. You’ve made a lasting impact on my life, and I’ll always be grateful. ❤️

Until I joined DUY, I didn't realize how much I was missing it from my life. I may be in a phase of overdoing it but I enjoy every moment and it's helping me make time for myself that other types of workouts and self-improvement attempts just haven't succeeded. Having a studio near my office (Harvard Sq) and another near my home (South End) and a variety of types of classes (Flow, Yin, Yoga Sculpt, etc) has all made it easy to always find time and a class that'll suit my energy for the day! <3

The classes here were great, but I was disappointed by the cancelation policy in the end. My experience: I paid $160/mo. for the Yogi Pass. When I canceled my membership on May 12, I was billed for another entire $160 month BEGINNING on May 25. I could‘ve read the fine print, but it doesn’t seem reasonable to make people cancel more than a month in advance :(

I’ve eaten their delicious food and drank their amazing smoothies. I took my first hot yoga class today, and everything from the front desk lady, to the facility and yoga instructor was fantastic. I purchased a membership because I cannot wait to make this a regular routine for myself. They also have a baby and parent yoga class that I’m elated to take my daughter to!
