The staff at Durbrow are absolutely amazing! The workouts are always challenging and keep me motivated to push myself every time. It’s not an exaggeration to say that DPT has been a life changing place for me. I have experimented with a *lot* of gyms and workouts in my life and had very mixed experiences. I was looking for a place that was accepting of all bodies, that was supportive (not toxic), and that gave me the space to meet my body wherever it happened to be each day and season of my life. It also had to be fun so I’d want to keep coming back.
DPT is that place and more. It’s welcoming and wonderful. It’s filled with all kinds of people and bodies and everyone is doing what works for them in the most encouraging and kind way. The coaches are wonderful. The classes got my through my pregnancy and I felt stronger than I’ve ever been in my life.

DPT is the highlight of my week! After years of feeling disconnected from my body due to a shoulder injury and lots of PT, I was hesitant to return to any kind of structured workout. DPT in East Somerville is the best! The instructors are kind, funny, helpful, and encouraging. It’s all support and no judgment. It’s been quite some time, since I’ve been thinking of trying out this gym. In the past, I would go to the traditional gyms, where I was doing my own workouts, and never connected with anyone.
Now at DPT, this changed completely. I was pleasantly surprised to see the dynamics of the place. Starting with the coaches, who miraculously know everyone’s name; the sessions are inclusive, sometimes interactive with the group and everyone is very friendly. There are people of all ages, all fitness levels, and you can follow the exercises at your own pace. No worries about not knowing what to do at first, because you can see others doing the same thing, plus, of course, the coaches are always there for any questions, advice, correcting your form. Once the class starts, you don’t even realize how fast it goes by and your body will tell you how well you did the next day - I’m always discovering muscles that I didn’t know existed!
I highly recommend trying out this gym, you’ll love it!

They have a great variety of equipment, including barbells, kettlebells, TRX, battle ropes, sleds, the SkiErg, and more—there's something for everyone. This variety keeps workouts fresh and engaging, and the equipment is always well-maintained.

As a firefighter I believe functional fitness is critical. DPT is set up with a customized rig, battle ropes, sleds, and an array of equipment. The mix of strength and cardio training mimics the physical demands encountered by firefighters in the field. The trainers are very approachable and are invested in members goals. Highly recommend.

I joined DPT a few months ago and have been really enjoying my experience. The trainers are great and knowledgeable. I was nervous jumping in because I hadn't exercised in 2 years but they explain everything really well and you work at your own level with the weights you're comfortable with for strength training. They encourage you to continue to build on weights but I've never felt pressure outside of my comfort zone.
I also just think the community and other clients are great. Everyone was incredibly friendly when I joined as a new client, introducing themselves and encouraging me.
I was also worried I might have trouble getting into the classes I wanted because they keep the groups relatively small (<20) but I've been able to get into the classes I want 90% of the time.

I have gone to this gym for 2.5 years and let me say, it is the only place that I have been able to consistently work out for a period longer than 3 months. It's like a family here. The trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and care about not only your fitness and dietary journeys, but you as a person. Oh, and it's a heckin' good workout too! With Covid there are online classes and in person classes (that I feel safe doing outside), and they have been open with communication and safety. It may seem expensive, but for the returns and consistency you get, it's worth every single penny. If you are on the fence, just trust me and come here. Complete beginners to fitness forward, they have something for everyone here.
