I had a couple use Emily to choreograph a dance to The Masochism Tango, their first dance song for their Halloween-themed wedding. It was PERFECT! The couple was confident, they took practicing seriously getting into the venue the week of to practice in their shoes, with their props, on the dance floor. We can’t recommend Emily enough. Taking dance lessons with her was one of the best decisions we made before our wedding. My favorite part about working with Emily was that it gave my husband and me the chance to try something new together and really bond before the wedding day. Even if for no other reason, I’d recommend dance lessons just for that experience.

Emily offers a variety of lesson options to fit your comfort level. I had a tiny bit of dance experience (just enough to know how to keep time and follow steps), so we chose the four class package. It ended up being perfect for us. Emily was kind, patient, and so much fun to work with. She gave honest feedback about what looked good and what might not fit our style, and she always made sure that our final dance felt like us. She also recorded each lesson which was super helpful. It allowed us to practice at home and feel comfortable going into the next lesson. Emily understood exactly what we wanted which was just a more elevated version of the classic “wedding sway." She delivered it perfectly. My husband had no dance experience, but you’d never know it. Emily seemed to really enjoy working with beginners like us. She kept the choreography simple, yet graceful and romantic.

What really stood out was how relaxed and enjoyable the process was. Our lessons never felt like another wedding task. They were more like fun date nights out. Emily’s warmth and encouragement made every class something we looked forward to. By the time the wedding came, we felt confident and ready. We were able to actually focus on enjoying our song, each other, and our emotions rather than one how we looked. We can't recommend her enough!

Both my husband and I were very nervous for our first dance at our wedding, so we booked lessons with Emily. Wow did it make a huge difference!!! Emily is amazing at explaining complex dance terms into something manageable - she took things that both my husband and I were familiar with and translated it into dance. My fiancee and I reached out to Emily in a panic: our wedding was a month away, we had a new baby underfoot and incredibly busy schedules, and we'd somehow forgotten to learn how to dance! And Emily saved the day. She was amazingly flexible in coordinating times to meet with us and then calmly walked us through what we needed to do to be ready for the big day. We are not dancers and what we were able to achieve with just four 1-hour lessons was astonishing and supremely satisfying. What may be a challenging or frustrating process, was engaging, light-hearted, and full of joy with Emily in charge. I've had several teachers over the years. Been with Emily for about a year and a half now. Her attention to detail is awesome! She has excellent communication that allows one to really see, hear, and internalize what you're learning. Even a raw beginner can walk away from the first class with a working set of steps, maybe even a move or two. How self-empowering is that!!!

Emily is a phenomenal teacher. She is clear, knowledgeable, and hilarious. She uses concrete and helpful examples ("imagine you are driving a bus!" "picture yourself holding a lightsaber!"). She is LGBTQ-aware and doesn't use gendered language for leaders and followers, which is a huge difference from many other teachers I have had. She can teach a class of people at many different levels of comfort and experience. I wish she taught every dance class ever.
