This place is great! A beautiful high-end gym with TONS of equipment, wonderful classes, and fully stocked locker rooms so you don't have to bring anything with you. I went there as a guest and took a cardio dance class with Djenaba and it was so much fun!!

The steam room is consistently down in the women's locker room. Not worth the price since one of the most appealing amenities isn't consistently available!

I’d stay away from equinox. Stuff gets stolen in the locker room and management doesn’t seem to care. Cameras don’t get checked, and honestly, it doesn’t feel safe.
I have been going for more than a year now and a lot of the people I know have had things go missing here. Between the theft and how poorly it’s handled, it’s not worth the risk for the premium price you are paying.

Still showing up. Still drenched. Still minding my business.
Trainers? Chill, Elite, & Respectful
Maintenance? VERY SOLID. Elite. & Respectful
(Best I’ve seen in the past 5 years — shoutout to Andres, the mastermind behind it.)
But one of the front desk people been moving like they got a badge and a whistle.
Clockin’ my exit like I’m on parole.
Ma’am… I lift weights, not alibis. 💼🕰️
The court is across the street. 👩🏻⚖️
That energy only seems to show up when I do — and I haven’t even been here in a couple weeks, been training elsewhere.
This is really what I come back to?
C’mon EQUINOXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 🤦🏻♂️
And real talk?
Maintenance holds that place down better than anyone else in there. Cleaning up after YOU. Grown Adults.
HANDS. DOWN.

Really felt the need to write this review so maybe someone could get an unbiased opinion. Is this the worst gym Ive ever been to? No. Is this the worst luxury gym that you have to pay $230/mo for that i’ve ever been to? Actually yes.
Let me start with the good so I can highlight some things that were nice:
- Gym equipment looks clean and the place is spacious. Good area in seaport close to everything. The lotion, face cleanser and body care was a great touch in the women’s locker room and smelled amazing. Nice lounge area right by the workout section in case you need to work or study RIGHT after your session?? Lol
Okay unfortunately that may be it. For the negatives, I want to preface I did get a free trial as I am new to the area.
- Immediately upon entering the front desk staff asked if I have been before and when I said no, instead of showing me around, they just said “third floor, locker room to right, gym on left”. Okay I don’t love a tour anyway but would like to be more comfortable with the setting and just felt super dismissed.
- #2 they chose to clean the gym at probably the busiest time on a Saturday morning. I do love a clean gym but for wires to cross OVER the squat rack WHILE SOMEONE WAS SQUATTING was actually really funny and just seemed so unnecessary especially when the gym was super busy already.
-#3 if they want to argue “we clean all the time no matter if it’s busy because we want it to be a luxury experience” i would argue the showers in the women’s locker room, though nice and up to date, were riddled with hair and some pink substance through the tiles (not shampoo because that was white), and again, for $230/mo I would maybe like a cleaner space to clean my body.
-#4 the juice bar that they advertise was closed. Not sure if it is all the time but the perfect time to be open seems to be a Saturday morning after all the classes get out and it seems if it’s not open at the busiest time… is it ever?
Overall this was a super busy gym, cardio equipment is great and new and I'm sure the classes are well run, but the staff was not friendly, not enough machines for the amount of people AND you do have to pay for parking AFTER validation (goes from $42 to $6.25- but again… i am already paying $230/mo and if I go every day, that adds up). I would skip this gym honestly and spend your money on an independent yoga studio, cycling class or something of that nature if that is the pull. Otherwise if you are going to lift- there are plenty others that are cheaper and likely more worth your money/time.

For the price paid at Equinox, the service provided is quite disappointing.
The equipment is fair, but the gym is very crowded at peak hours, still. The towels run low at times, and filling up drink bottles is difficult as their tap for the bottle is too close to the sink to actually fit a bottle in. There is only one drink filler that actually works to height.
The front desk and concierge can be quite challenging to talk to, and for the price paid (> $200 / year), you are only allowed to bring in 2 guests for the entire year. They have no flexibility around this, and are similarly unaccommodating for other requests.
Jack Massari used to manage my account and was a fantastic go-to point of contact for any concerns. Since his departure from EQX, getting anything sorted has been exceedingly difficult and EQX is resistant to making any accommodations.
Essentially, for a premium price paid, you are not being treated like a valued customer. Similar to budget airlines, it feels like you are still having to pay for every minimal addition of service.

All staff members and trainers are amazing !
The gym is outdated . If you want high end top gym go to Life Fitness !
At seaport equinox I was not allowed to play my music while boxing and dancing on my own in the studio where there was nobody while a trainer played her music list just before me ! Every gym allows that in the studio !
No sauna no swimming pool no spa no hot tub ! This gym is not worth your money drive to Life time fitness Is top notch and you got everything you need in one building ! 4 floors of gym and luxury !
Lifetime fitness is 258 a month with access to all locations and 100 for your significant other !

** VERY MID **
Pros:
1. Clean and well-maintained facility
2. Friendly and welcoming staff, usually
3. High-quality equipment
4. Diverse range of workout classes
Cons:
1. No 24-hour locations
2. Recently discontinued Kiehl’s products (a significant drawback for me)
3. Despite its monthly cost, there is no unlimited guest passes
4. Rarely offer store discounts for members
5. Limited space at this location
6. Insufficient leg machines, particularly calf raise and Hack-squat machines (in 2024, this is surprising)
7. The razors (Men's locker room) appear to be of low quality, as they don't effectively prevent nicks and cuts.
Overall, the cons seem to outweigh the pros. Equinox simply feels very overpriced compared to other gyms I’ve been a part of, including those with a $30 per month membership cost, which offer more amenities and equipment. For example, at my previous gym, they offered an onsite daycare for members. Although I’m not a parent myself, I can still appreciate the convenience such an amenity provides.
Given Equinox's reputation, I expected a bit more value for the price. While my experience was generally positive, I don’t see myself rejoining or recommending Equinox based on these factors.

I never write reviews, but today was my last straw.
I have been a member of this specific gym since 2022. It used to be an amazing gym, and I was ready to pay any price for it. Fast forward to 2024, and it went downhill to the point of no return. I even canceled my membership for four months in 2023, but they came back to me with an offer, and I thought to give them a second chance. That was my biggest mistake.
1. I’ve had multiple issues with them charging me extra and giving me misleading information about charges. They never take accountability for their actions. It’s quite the opposite. The management tells you a million reasons why you never got the money in the first place. I had to request for my credits to be applied to my account twice, and it took them two months to do it.
2. Extremely rude and ignorant managers. I can say that Jack Massari was always the only one who went back and forth to make my experience great. Can't say the same thing about others.
3. Don’t forget about the 12-month obligation. I knew about it and was prepared for it. Management now uses it as an excuse to charge you the full price when you freeze the membership. So you freeze your membership, and they still charge you the full price for the frozen month. They then say you'll get your money back by the 13th month (as credits). Why would I freeze it in the first place? It is supposed to be a premium gym, but the way they do business is not better than any other gym in the area. I would say even worse.
4. Shower gels, shampoos, and cleansers - all diluted with water. To the point where all of those products are unusable. Even if I wanted to use it, I would never be able to. If you can't afford it, it would be better to put the most basic shampoo in the bottle. But to put 30% shampoo and 70% water seems like a mockery for the price we pay.
5. I wanted to book a one-on-one Pilates class, and their trainer came back to me with available slots. The funny part is that she sent those dates to me a month after I requested the session. Then the day I was supposed to have my session (a month later), she sent me an email saying she double booked and asked me to reschedule. It happens, but is it professional when it took two months to schedule it in the first place?
6. All basic things need to be replaced. I started bringing towels with me from home, because their towels looked like someone mopped the floor with them. Hair dryers are almost non existent, as it’s going to take you an hour to dry your hair with it.
The only good thing I can say about Equinox Seaport is its gym staff. Every single trainer is amazing and extremely professional. Pilates class with Olivia is unbeatable and the only thing that keeps me there.

Amazing gym, great trainers, great maintenance staff BUT the management at this location is letting this place deteriorate. Mens locker rooms smell bad due to some sort of plumbing issue in the showers. This is not something that a maintenance worker can just spray something on, something needs to be fixed. Also basic things just need to be replaced...soap dispensers, hair dryers, towels. Some of the towels look like they were stolen from an animal shelter. Hair dryers are from a mid-90's motel. Simple fix's will bring this place back to 5 stars

I don’t see how this has over 4 stars. For the price you pay, I do not see how anyone can justify for what you get at this location.
This gym is SO SMALL. It’s 1 floor-and the trainers take up ridiculous amounts of space during individual sessions. For example, they will have people take up a machine on one end of the gym, to go to a squat rack on the other end of the gym, to go to a bench. if you're using what looks like free bench-or squat rack, they will ask you to move because they are in the middle of a session.
The etiquette of some members makes me question the gyms standards. I have nothing against weight dropping, but why are people not doing it in the designated areas. there are padded areas for a reason, why are power lifters dropping weights next to the cable pull downs.. with trainers?!
There is no pool. No hot tub. There are only 2 studio classes going at a time (space is limited so you’re almost always waitlisted). The locker room is so crowded I’ve had to wait in a pretty long line for the shower during peak hours and you’re basically changing on top of others. If you can, go to any other equinox except this one.

This location allows men to inappropriately touch and harass women. They believe that it is okay as long as it doesn’t happen More than a few times. They do nothing to remedy these problems.
The gym also becomes over crowded and nearly unusable to peak times due to lack of equipment. Frequently the locker rooms are disasters, attendants are no where to be seen. Frequently there is no soap and no towels. Between the unwelcoming environment, lack of equipment, and overall uncleanliness it is not worth the money. Lifetime offers much better value and a safer environment.

did a 1-day drop-in. called ahead of time to confirm price. front desk told me it's $50 for 24 hours.
walked in and confirmed with front desk again that it's $50 for 24 hours. they said yes. I paid.
I asked about returning the following morning. they said it's just a 1-time drop in, you can't come back. I asked then why did you tell me it's for 24 hours. her response: "because there are 24 hours in a day"
either I am stupid or was lied to. either way bad customer experience. some clarity upfront would have been helpful.
gym itself was clean and spacious with many cardio machines/dumbells/kettlebells.

I just learned Equinox Seaport released one of the best personal trainers they had, Jaskee. He was the only male trainer who cleaned up weights and actively walked around conversing with new and seasoned members. He’s certainly the only trainer that’s ever come up and spoken to me. The bulk of the other male trainers never wore their masks during Covid, they train as a little group, they don’t ever clean up and their generally unfriendly. The one trainer that was friendly, helpful, and extremely fit, Equinox decides to let go of? I can’t stand this gym but there aren’t other options. There’s no accountability here. They let guys bring their gym bags onto the floor, drop weights, shadow box, yell and generally do whatever they want without ever keeping people in check or kicking them out. During Covid, after Adam left, only a couple of the trainers wore masks and masks certainly weren’t enforced by management who cast a blind eye. Machines are getting rusty and poorly maintained, there’s also a surprising deficit of advanced leg training equipment. This gym is also super busy because there’s no other options in the area. The new assistant manager is awesome, he should replace the manager, Magesta.

This location is by far, the best facility of all Equinox in Boston. Unfortunately, the experience at this gym is undermined by short operating hours (likely due to post-pandemic staff shortage) and the unprofessional and lazy staff members. On numerous occasions, the cleaning crew will shut off access to amenities early so they can get off work early. Most recently, I was denied access to the steam room an hour prior to the gym closing. The steam room is supposed to open until 30 minutes before gym closing. However, the cleaning crew refused to let me enter the room because he had already cleaned the room for the night. When I brought this issue up with the staff in the front desk, they were powerless and could not do anything about it. This level of service and support is rather disappointing for the amount of fees they are charging, I would not recommend this location.

Great location, very clean, and the class selection is good. Downsides would be that the classes are always overbooked and the locker room can get a bit crowded. For how much I'm paying monthly, I'd like to be able to get better access to the classes but for a gym with limited space it's very nice. Perfect if all you need is cardio machines and some light free weights.

Ok, it’s not flawless by any stretch of the imagination, but if ratings are comparative assessments of quality (or value), then this location deserves 5 stars. The design is impeccable, it’s never crowded, and the staff is generally very nice. The only major fail is the steam room, where the sound of the steam machine is so deafening that sitting there for more than a few minutes should be regarded as auditory torture. Other than that, no major complaints.
