Spacious with a lot of equipment. Most are rusty and old, carpet is stinky and the gym has a terrible smell. Gym will close and another affordable housing project will be built on the lot.

Great gym. The trainers are incredibly skilled and friendly, and front desk staff is equally friendly. Equipment is well-maintained. If I had to come up with anything negative at all, Iβd say the equipment layout on the floor is a bit crowded, but thatβs hardly a concern.

Pretty good. Good equipment selection. Could be a bit cleaner and the music is WAY too loud most of the time. Itβs 2022 and everyone has their own headphones. It shouldnβt be hard to hear my own music with noise cancellation on. Not sure why it needs to be so loud. They have nice Bose speakers so I have a feeling they spent a lot on them and now feel like they need to really use them, but it honestly makes it worse rather than better

Staff is generally friendly but I had to cancel because of one particular gentleman who kept hackling me for not having my mask up above my nose which is fair but not when they proceed to walk by other people doing the same exact thing and not say a word.

I have been a member at this gym for a year now. Good facility, most equipment is in good condition and professional, attentive staff. The only issue I have is that roughly a month ago (mid-November) a front desk staff member said the owner was considering moving the operating hours back to close LATER during the week. As of this post, the hours still remain the same: Monday to Friday until 8:00pm, Saturday and Sunday until 6:00pm. Considering members are paying $55 per month for a membership and competitors are open later, could the operating hours therefore not go back to closing at 10:00pm during the week (and then potentially Saturday and Sunday at 8:00pm) as well?

Great staff peaceful setting. Good luck trying to cancel this place you have to show your liver and give an arm to cancel. Update(11/9/2021: Gotta call from the person handle the cancelation on why I posted this and I told her I'm clearly going through a hardship in life but it's not enough for her to cancel my membership.

I love my gym (it's been almost a year since I've attended!) This place is a gem. I feel safe, I have ample space to do my workouts whatever that may be (jump rope, kicks, yoga, running in the large space upstairs when unoccupied). The offered classes are comprehensive and the instructors are truly the best I've had in my 10+ years in the Boston area. The front desk staff are knowledgable and truly kind people. I hope to be able to come here for a long time.

We tried canceling two memberships numerous times and were under the impression that the cancellation went through. Itβs a pain to cancel with evolve fitness to begin with because you have to go through a third party (ABC Finance) to have it sorted it out. Months later we receive a call from a collections agency that we owed $800+ (mind you, we had not received any communication from evolve fitness during this time to notify us that we had any balance due).
Eventually we were able to get this issue resolved but the process was quite irritating as it shouldnβt have happened to begin with. Itβs as if evolve fitness purposely allowed this to get out of hand so they could get a bigger payout lol. Iβm not saying to not join this gym but I know for a fact this gym is not worth the hassle we went through. Hope this helps in improving your facility! :)

Just the typical trap. Once you sign up, good luck getting out.
It is an absolute waste of time talking to their staff or the lady who calls herself the owner, Cinzia Paolini. Attempted several times to cancel the membership and off course no records were found time and time again. The lack of responsibility taken by Paolini, combined with the contract they have with ABC financial as their billing company, will cost you around $300 give or take.
Avoid this place!

Absolute membership trap. Nearly impossible to cancel a membership with them. They apparently βdo not cancel at the club levelβ and you have to go to ABC financial and hope someone processes your request. Iβve been trying for over a year to cancel. I havenβt even been there in over a year and only signed a 1 year contract like 2 years ago. Guess the devil is in the details with them... you should be cautious about this place, will never do business with this organization again.

Stole my money by pretending that I couldnβt cancel and giving me the runaround. Then A staff member agreed to cancel it. But when I called to confirm later the manager told me β iβm confident in my staff, and so I know your story isnβt true because they wouldnβt have done thatβ Iβm still fighting with these guys - itβs been six months now and all they can tell me is βsorry nothing I can do...β
Awful service AND the equipment is in poor condition as well. Last winter they wouldnβt even fix the leaky ceiling.

Although this gym is the only one in the area for standard weightlifting, they definitely don't slack on service or attentiveness. All equipment is well-maintained and evenly spaced out to allow everyone to be able to work with the lifts they're comfortable with doing. Service quality was also amazing. I was touring the area as someone from out-of-state, and Ryan easily accommodated my needs for a multi-day pass that was usually only reserved for in-state residents. I would recommend this gym on his professional courtesy alone! 5/5

I didn't give this place 5 stars because it's the biggest gym, it's not. Or because they have all the latest and greatest bells and whistles equipment, they have a fair portion of it. I gave it 5 stars for many reasons, the staff from the time you walk in and take the tour or sign up or come in a week later have always been polite and friendly. This place, very reasonably priced, offers so so much from the free weight area, to the weight machines to the large variety of different cardio equipment, to the TRX area, to the classes(zumba, body combat, sculpting, spin,etc..). Personal trainers, very knowledgeable and not $100 - $200 a session like some other places, check out packages offered. They have a women's section, but being a man, I don't really care about it, just thought I'd mention it. They have crossfit equipment if that's your interest and other unique things for that different type of workout, ie.. heavy bags and more. If all that wasn't enough, after your workout a very clean locker room with a sauna and showers are available for your use. I also have a toddler, so them offering a sitter room loaded with toys and a tv is a super bonus. I was recently a member at lifetime fitness and other than a couple of different amenities, this gym offers even more for a fraction of the cost. Parking isn't the greatest during peak hours, but that is really the only drawback.

My wife goes there ( mainly for the awesome daycare they have!) and she upgraded and bought an unlimited guest pass at 10 extra $/ month. When I showed up with her as a guest they said she could only bring a guest that doesnβt reside at the same address. What sense does that make? A guest is a guest. Now if they offered a family pass we would be into that but they donβt. And I only go to the gym 1-4 month so itβs not financially worth it for me to get a membership. Hopefully the owner takes some classes on how to run a company...ie coustomer first!...side note , I was able to find a clean brand new (just opened) planet fitness gym in porter square for 10 dollars a month. The same price the evoke want my wife to pay each time she brings me as a guest. Iβm happy we have some competition in the area, now maybe the owner will step up or fade out. - Jah

AVOID SIGNING EVOLVE'S YERLY CONTRACT AT ANY COST. You think that you are locked for a year but they lock you for a few additional months after the year is over. In my particular case I signed up for a year but I got sick less than 3 months after I signed and I could not use the membership. When the year ended and I called to cancel, the reception referred me to another company that does the billing for Evolve. Then I found out that canceling the membership can be done only with the billing company. This company demanded payment for additional 3 months. Customer service ends when it comes to canceling membership even if you are not using the gym.

This place is close to home, new machines, but really expensive ($45/month if you pay for a year). Not uncommon for a Boston gym. Tried the 5 day free trial and wasn't wowed. I started working out on 9-02-16 and it has been a great experience considering that I had not worked out in a number of years. The amount of equipment in Evolve makes it easy for me to accomplish my routines without any interruptions. I have maybe on 1 or 2 occasions during that time waited to get on a machine. The hours are very convenient as well and it allows me yo come early in the morning or later in the day when it can be more convenient and less hectic,
I have achieved the goals that I set for myself and I am on to the next phase of my schedule. I have not had a need to use personal trainers at this point but I must point out that there are plenty available for anyone who needs them. From what I observe, they do a phenomenal job with clients in terms of preparation and going through the routines.

This gym is phenomenal. Been going 4-5 times a week at all different times of the day for over a year now. First off - the price is great. It's not too close to a T-stop so makes sense that it's priced a bit lower than some of the other places on the Red Line. But as a former member of BSC in Davis - there is simply no comparison.
The equipment at Evolve is new, 100% clean, and almost 100% (see below) in awesome working condition. The people that work there are, for the most part, friendly. The gym-goers are pretty respectful overall. It's fairly easy to get a workout in at almost any time - the squat racks and flat benches, as in every gym, are in high demand in the evening hours. That being said, I've never waited more than 10 minutes for one. The cardio equipment never requires a wait.
A few improvements:
1. Spinning bikes: There really are no spinning bikes for people who don't do classes to use. The two bikes they have are either A. broken (the seat, handlebars do NOT stay adjusted and move through your workout, this has been a problem for over a year now), or B. labeled to be used only for 5 minutes. Pop a REAL spinning bike on the gym floor like the ones in the spinning studio- would be a massive improvement.
2. You could consider replacing a Smith machine with an additional squat rack.
Otherwise, this place does it right. Join - you will not regret it.
- Update 1+ year later - this place continues to be phenomenal. They have yet, despite my pleading, to fix the one "spin" bike that one can use without going to class despite my almost three years going there. I deduct one star for this spin bike issue - seriously, with a gym this big, get two spin bikes to put on the floor or allow gym goers to the spin studio when class is not in session. Other than that, things continue to be great.

This gym is an OK gym that could be better if the owner would re-invest in the equipment. Little things around the gym that are easy and cheap to fix will annoy you especially when they collect a yearly maintenance fee from you
Equipment: your average set of free weights and machines. Very few clamps for equipment which is surprising given how cheap they are and how it increases safety when in use.
Squat racks are always in use People use them for deadlifts but if they got something like a deadlift bar jack (Look it up Evolve Fitness), people would not need the squat racks to load up their weight and do them elsewhere.
The preachers bar's grips have been loose and are tough to grip (again, an easy fix). Same thing with the pull up bars and tricep pull down bars
Parking is very tight especially before and after work. Their solution is to tell you to park in other businesses lots that are not well lit and far away. I get there is nothing that can be done about this but the owner still reserves a spot for his car near the front door instead of offering it to patrons. I parked in it once out of frustration of not being able to find a spot after 15 minutes of trying/waiting for someone to leave. I got a note on my windshield saying next time they will tow my car!

The staff is amazing and the gym is very well equipped. It could easily pass as one of the best gyms I've been in. The men's locker room is very clean at all times and quite roomy (Although a few of the guys just like to walk around naked, but that's very tolerable and probably negligible). The equipments are very well placed to allow easy and swift transition from workout to workout if a specific muscle group (chest, arms, legs, etc.) is being targeted. The trainers are super friendly and will even assist you even if you're not their client. They are also very accessible and quite literarily all over the place. I was only there for the summer but I'm going to miss it a lot.

I used to be a member at 24 hour fitness and Boston Sports Club and believed I was getting a bang for my buck until...I joined Evolve Fitness. It doesn't matter what time I come here, I never have to wait for the cardio or weight machines (all of which are brand new and state of the art). Most of the time I'm able to occupy two machines at once when I'm doing a more vigorous workout and I never seem to bother anyone. Other times I take the Spinning, Yoga and CX classes, which I always leave drenched in sweat. I am so spoiled now. Evolve has changed my standards and I don't think I can ever go to another crowded gym with sub-par equipment ever again. Sorry 24 hour and BSC, but it's true.

Avoid this gym at all cost. It gives everyone that comes in a different price, depending on what you can negotiate. I was given a "lifetime" $19.99 a month price because i paid $300 to join while under development, yet everyone I talked to had the same !9.99 and they paid little to nothing to join. They are now upping everyone's monthly fee, including mine and will not honor the contract.
For $20 a month you get what you pay for here. Basics. Basic machines, below standard changing rooms, and the classes are full and about 10 years behind the current fitness trends. (to be fair, a few of the trainers are good, Jason for one). The parking is horrid and soon to become worse when street parking is taken away. Assume you will circle for hours when it is winter and full.
The management is arrogant and hostile, and it shows in the people who come and go at the front desk. Not service oriented at all.
If you have to pay more than $20, go to a basic gym. It will have what this gym has. if you want more upscale, this is not the place for you either. They think they are in the middle, but really was only worth the $20 I previously paid, if that. $10 per month more like what they are worth.

Ridiculous cancellation policy. BEWARE to people signing up for the gym. If you sign up, they'll lock you in for an 18 month contract that you can't get out of unless you move 25 miles away. In other words, you can't even pay a fee to cancel, but instead have to pay your $30 a month for the full term. Terrible system, and doing a good job minting unhappy customers.

They told me that the only information that I need to supply is my driver license, after a month they told me that I also need to provide a copy of a utility bill.
Of course they send me a letter regular mail so it take longer. So they can charge for another month.
Do not you enroll in this gym is you are out of town !!!!!!

As a business this place is crooked and deceitful. Their predatory practices are beyond anything I've ever seen. I was given a verbal guarantee that I could quit anytime, but when it came time to move from the city, they wouldn't accept my resignation. They kept charging me and charging me. After repeated calls, mailings, visits, pleading and providing forms and proof that I was moving, they persist and charge my account month after month. They should be ashamed to exploit their customers this way.

I had a great free workout the other day using my free pass, and I never knew half the exercises I was shown before. Great variety, which is a complete change from the norm.

Reminds me of a California style gym, very open airy and bright. Fantastic classes!

Great place for those who have never been in a gym or hardly go to a gym:
They hire trainers who have no knowledge or experience, however could be professionals in other areas such as clothing retail.
The insignificant equity owner, not so lucky luc__, yells and is very demeaning to the female customers.
Caveat emptor... WOW
