Thought long and hard about posting this review…. My wife and I were members at this gym for roughly 4+ years. During our time at the Kingston facility they have consistently opened 30, 40, or even 50+ minutes after their posted opening hours which has inconvenienced my wife on more than a dozen occasions when attempting to workout in the morning prior to work. Additionally, my wife had a stalker harass her at this gym. She reported it several times and it fell on deaf ears. Nothing was done. Only after that member threatened violence was he finally removed from the facility AFTER MONTHS of the gym staff being aware of what was happening and doing nothing. Lastly, my wife and I purchased our first home and we decided to cancel our gym membership. We were late to cancelling the membership by a few days and incorrectly made the assumption that this gym would be understanding and provide a pro-rated refund since we would not be using 25+ days of the month after moving. We were wrong to expect good customer service. Even after everything described above… late openings, dealing with a stalker, and missing our cancellation by a few days, they are refusing to do the right thing by some loyal members who did not leave, even after everything that happened. Save your money and go elsewhere because they will happily take it and you will never see it again if you want a refund. Deplorable way to treat your members.

**** attention: I just want to point out I've left through the mall entrance a few times and have seen some peeping toms peering through the cracks of the larger work out room in the back. I've seen some even have their phones out. This is more than once. Next time I will provide pictures of these people if I have my phone on me. Today 9/21 older man wearing a brown shirt around 1140am.

I like this gym, I don't love it but I like it. The women's only area is amazing. If you pay for the memberships that include classes, good luck attempting to snag the yoga classes because they fill up within 1 minute of opening up online. I took a pilates class or something like that but I felt like it was very rushed and not focused on form all that much. Some of the dance classes are great but there was one I took that I felt like it was impossible to keep up with. The Zumba one was solid. If there's anything I noticed it's how people have zero etiquette when it comes to opening or closing doors. Particularly, maybe about 40% of them don't know how to open a door or close it behind them. You'll still have to deal with people who slam weights unnecessarily or smack the cable machine weights with sloppy form but it is better than some other gyms.

Cheap gym but barely has any chest machines and the front staff, never, cleans. I’ve gotten ring worm twice at this gym. Emailed staff when it happened first time, and the response did not change any implementations. Front staff is nice, but they sit in the front and never replace towels or clean.

Debated writing this review… but the people need to know. I’ll start with the pros. Diverse equipment selection, nice front desk staff, and woman’s only workout room.

Now for the cons…

-Equipment is old and never gets deep cleaned. The gym overall just has a stench to it…

-Hours they have listed are not guaranteed. There has been multiple times where I’ve showed up at the gym at 5am, only to wait in the parking lot for 30 mins to an hour for someone to show up and open the gym. Also they will randomly close early sometimes and not even let you into the gym if you show up an hour before their random proposed close time.

-Pilates studio they have just put in is an absolute joke. Completely overpriced. $25 for a single 30 minutes class. This is on TOP of any Fit factory membership. Equipment is cheap- I’m talking purchased off Temu cheap. The vibe is just weird. “Studio” is just a random room right next to the free weight section.. Random fake fur all over the “studio”. Who puts fake fur in a workout environment?? For the same price you can go to other pilate studios and have premium equipment: spring boards, Pilates chair, QUALITY reformer, and 50 minutes class for the SAME price!
***Need to clarify that the mat Pilates class that are included in the membership are great! Stay away from the reformer class.

This post pertains specifically to Fit Factory - Kingston: I really wanted to like Fit Factory, but it’s been a frustrating experience. The gym often doesn’t open on time—sometimes up to an hour late—which completely throws off my schedule (and dozens of others). The equipment is another issue; a lot of it is outdated or broken, especially the treadmills, which seem to be in a constant state of disrepair. What’s most disappointing is the lack of accountability from management. Concerns go unanswered, and nothing seems to improve. Definitely not worth the hassle.

*Update: less than 24 hours ago Fit Factory stated “we addressed this directly with members in person and have taken steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again”…it happened again…1 day later. It’s ~7:30 am and the gym is currently not open (and was supposed to at 7:00 am). Dozens of people are waiting in the parking lot or have already left.

Tried out the gym during the free membership deal because i was looking for a cheaper gym and wanted change. and after 2 times going there i didn’t like it and stopped going and never went back. completely forgot to cancel my membership and forgot that my card was going to be charged for it. i emailed regarding a refund for $96.68, why is it almsot $100???? They told me no they aren’t able to help me out, never went to gym after i got charged and still very unwilling to help me. never again, gym was gross too!

It seems like Freezes are not honored. When it’s time for a one year renewal, they don’t factor in a freeze. I filled out a freeze form before surgery and another when it was time to come back. They said I had filled out the wrong from before. A form I requested and they asked me to sign. Now I’m have to start paying again. I hate monthly fees and had paid a yearly fee so I can avoid it. This is happened before also when I wanted to reduce my 3x a week semi training and asked them to reduce it to once a week and they hit me with the 3x a week charge. Also this time around I paid for 20 more sessions of Semi Private Training right before my surgery only to be told when I came back in December they no longer offer 50 minutes of Semi private training. Be aware of loosing money with this club or losing their trust with making everything right. If there is any update to my situation, I’ll update it here. Check out the calculation on how the price surged from 50 minutes of a workout they no longer offer to what they want you to buy or convert into. Why should I convert what I paid for into less time or get less sessions because they cost more. For my disability, I can’t don’t fast movements and trainers help me avoid needing physical therapy but it shouldn’t cost an arm and leg or boot you out with less time. Seems very unfair and I should have to fight for my freeze time off. I don’t have time to be on the phone back and forth. No one does. I’ve had membership at New York Sports Club and Lucille Roberts in NYC. They were easier to deal with.

Update 1/14/25: Manager was able to correct issue. Thank you— what a relief. Now I’m working with one of the best trainers again. I really want to be as healthy as I can be so I have more mobility.

Great gym. Diverse equipment, multiple sets of weights and cable machines. Very good bang for the buck. I’ve been to more expensive gyms and fit factory has the best variety of machines. Very friendly layout good lighting. They’re updated there billing to be more transparent. The policy is clearly defined on a sheet. Very refreshing coming from anytime fitness who has a ridiculous billing system. Been a member since February 2024 here and love it.

I had this gym for two months. Jim was great. I just recently had a child and decided to cancel because the gym is farther away from my house than I wanted it to be. I usually go to the gym right after work but now I go home to help take care of my child When I went to cancel I asked about the annual fee if I can get a refund on it the lady was very nice and manager. If I can get a refund, he asked why and I told him well. I’ve only used it for two months. I don’t see why I should be charged yearly maintenance fee if I haven’t been here for a year as soon as I said that he became the rudest person I’ve ever dealt with, very very argumentative saying why should we refund you? I said well because I haven’t been there for a year so I don’t see why I should be paying a yearly maintenance fee. Hi, I am a current member of FIT Factory. I am very unhappy as they no longer maintain their equipment the way they used to. I did call to speak to the manager prior to this review, but basically it is what it is.

They have lots of people coming in so there is no shortage on membership fees. An example is the leg extension machine. Has been down for more than two months. When I inquire, I continue to be told they are waiting on a welder. Replace the machine. I am pretty sure this same machine was still there since before 2017. It breaks down all the time and they keep trying to repair it. There are other worn and broken machines too (I.e AB machine).

I have tried to be patient, but it just doesn’t seem like they want to really take care of the equipment . Nothing lasts forever and I realize you spent some money to do make over, but what about the older machines that now need to be replaced.

Will not renew next year.

It isn't Fit Factory it is Corporate steal your money factory. They just doubled my monthly fee and then today I noticed they charged me $69.98 for the upcoming year (annual fee). Ok enough is enough, I called and said I don't want to continue membership please cancel and refund the $69.98 you just deducted out of my bank account today. Their response was OK we can cancel after 30 days but we will not refund the Annual charge. So I said I am confused as I haven't used the gym in the past year but hey, I understand being charged for those months. What I can't comprehend is paying for an annual fee for a year I will not be a member. This isn't a month, a week or even a full day into this "year" yet. I will not be a member so why would I be charged a fee for upcoming year? I should get a refund. They refused. It's all just a money grab, no honor, integrity or any courtesy to the customer.

Current member, have asked for the past 6 MONTHS for them to fix the assault bike and they have not. Have it documented as well. Ridiculous. Additionally they have like 10 people working here at a time but cannot seem to keep a clean environment. The men’s locker room is always gross and the floor is dangerously wet. We had less than three inches of snow today and the gym is closed. Membership fees also doubled overnight and extra fees are added if you are late on payments, half the machines are “out of order” and they put out of order signs on the paper towel dispensers when they run out of paper instead of just refilling them.

This gym smells like teenage boy. I liked the women’s only area. Took cycle with Missy many times. Her playlist is bad and she’s mean and passive aggressive for no reason. The barre class was like some sort of old lady cult. Zumba is lit. The ppl at the front desk are weird. I liked the tanning but it was always dirty. If you’re a stinky man or just simply want to walk on the treadmills then this gym might be good for you. This gym is maybe like a step up from planet fitness but you gotta do what you gotta do 👍🏻

BEWARE College students trying to freeze your account. Poor policies and poorly trained employees can cost you. Froze in Sept. 2022. Went once over xmas break. Returned in June to cancel as he would be away June through June 2024. He was told "no longer has an account. All set." Lesson one, Get Paper proof. Then charged again July. Called to see what was going on and was told you have to pay the $59.99 yearly (for the NEXT year) and then the Aug. fee. of $15.99. Outraged, all I heard from the cold robot was, "we can't change our policy." I asked to elevate the matter and speak with someone else and was ignored. Very poor policy. SO done with automatic payment policies and plans.

Look out for the $60 annual fee even if you sign-up for a month to month membership. When canceling you have to go to the online portal, and they will bill you for your next month as well, so I'm out another $50 for a gym I won't be using. The sauna always breaks down due to lack of supervision and signs to keep people from pooring water over fake stones. I've been a member for almost a year and the steam room has never ever been repaired. I pay a full price every month for this. I became a member of FitFactory by default when FitFocus closed. Like literally. I was given a consolation membership as did many others. To be honest, it was a good change. I had to switch up my routine while adjusting to the new layout and equipment. Best thing to happen to my work out habit. Needed to discover a new routine and it's paid of tremendously and I've grown fond of the place. It's the AstroTurf personal training area that gets most of my time. FitFocus didn't even have one like it. I've adopted a completely new method to working out and am in some of, if not the, best shape of my life. Change can be disruptive and disruptive can be good.

I just joined this gym a few months ago and really enjoy the group classes! My favorite classes are the ones instructed by Tonia! She does a few different ones like kickboxing & abs, total body burn and Zumba. She keeps the energy high and you bet you’ll be sore the next day! Tonia is also my personal trainer which I started a month ago. I had my 2nd weigh in today and after a month, I can see the changes! Tonia keeps me motivated and gets me to do my best when I’m working out with her. She’s patient and takes the time to educate me on correct forms and how to use certain machines. Been a member here for a few years. They have a difficult time keeping instructors and personal trainers. I purchased a package thru them for personal training. I had three different trainers and they quit with no notice even after booking apps. You have to chase down the personal training manager to get your paid sessions. I am still owed personal training sessions and no personal trainers available for my hours I can train. I am canceling my membership. Trying to get in to the few yoga classes they do offer is impossible. You have to call and ask the desk to get You in.

This gym is my Summer Gym. The gym is wayyy to small. I am in absolutely no way a Feminist (I actually don't like Feminist) but the gym is definitely man focused. The gym is very stuffy no ventilation. It doesn't compare to my gym Work out World that gym Is huge and has every machine under the sun. I would have recommended Fit Factory fairly highly but after a full year of repeatedly and unsuccessfully trying to get my membership cancelled, I'm pretty upset. I've been told multiple times that it was cancelled only to have the charges continue each month.

It seems like I am not the only one that this is happening to. It also seems like this is probably illegal. I am finally resorting to having my bank put a stop payment on them and I am writing this review while I wait on hold with the bank.

Wendy was so motivating during Covid when we couldn’t get to the gym. I love her barre and Zumba class. She always has a smile on her face and the best attitude. I have been going here for almost 5 years and have always loved it. The pandemic did take away a lot of the instructors that I loved and I desperately want spin and HIIT back on weekday mornings! For now Wendy and Vanessa teach great body burns but the mornings definitely need more variety. Seems like the afternoon classes have a lot more choices of spin, hiit, kickboxing, etc. and the mornings are all the same. I work nights or I would go to these classes. Anyways, not leaving and hoping after the pandemic those classes will be back with instructors like Kate and Kathleen were.

I take a HIIT and weights class at fit factory in kingston and have always had an unbelievable experience. My instructor is Shannon Quinn and she is top notch! Her classes are challenging but she also always allows (and encourages) modifications when necessary. This takes away the pressure that I’ve experienced in other classes when you feel discouraged that you can’t complete a move or set. Her classes are the perfect balance of challenging but doable moves. Every class is a little bit different too which keeps my interest. I also love that she does the workout moves with us....it motivates me to keep going! I look forward to Shannon’s class every week and am hoping she will offer more classes during the week that I can attend! #InstructorAwards #mostmotivating

**After much research and reading of other very similar reviews, This is the only way to get intouch with anyone from FitFactory so here we are**

I normally DO NOT write reviews, not to mention negative ones but I feel as though I need to in this case to prevent others from the injustice that Fitfactory has done to me. I NEVER missed a payment with Fitfactory the automatic payment would always come out of my account between the 22nd and 24th of every month for the following month, the payment was supposed to be 29.99$ every month for the membership I had chosen, but there would also be other gym fees, in which I NEVER complained about. On Feb 24th a payment of 29.99$ came out of my account as expected for the month of March. “On March 10, Governor Charlie Baker declared a state of emergency” due to the COVID19 Pandemic. From March 10th to March 23, there were many updates to Bakers order including the spread of this unknown but highly deadly virus, that even Fit Factory closed its doors.

On Monday, March 23, Governor Baker issued an emergency order requiring all employers that do not provide “COVID-19 Essential Services” to close their physical workplaces and facilities to workers, customers, and the public from Tuesday, March 24, at 12 p.m. (noon) until Tuesday, April 7 at noon. This was then extended to July.

From March to July FitFactory still tried to collect my monthly membership fee even though they were in breach of their own contract. I tried many times to contact a manager but they were alway “in a meeting” and I was not allowed to leave a message on the managers voicemail, I always had to leave a message with whoever answered the phone. I also attempted to reach out through their online contact us system and never heard anything in return.

I then received phone calls from ALDOUS collection agency for 119.96. SO let's do the math, March, April, May, June is 4 months. 119.96 divided by 4 equals 29.99. When I explained to ALDOUS that this is incorrect and they are trying to charge me for months they were not providing any services, they were extremely rude and said “it is due to ONE missed month and a bunch of late fees”. I also explained that I NEVER received any documentation stating this information and it is quite ironic that the math alone proves that this is fraud and they are taking advantage of their patrons during a devastating time. They did not care and now I am disputing this claim on my credit.

FitFactory’s contract states that: “You or your estate may also cancel this contract for any of the following reasons: …. If the health club services to be provided under this contract are not available because the seller fails to open a planned health club or location, permanently discontinued operation of a health club or location, or substantially changes the operation of a health club or location”.

Therefore, FitFactory is in breach of their contract to me and instead of admitting it, they are trying to ruin my credit and keep charging me for services they could not provide during this time.

We are one of the many families that are getting the run around after Fit Factory reopened. We tried to pause our membership since childcare was no longer offered and since we didn’t feel comfortable attending a gym, with full hope of returning. We were promised that our membership was paused and we wouldn’t get charged. But nevertheless, we were charged for the next month. We spoke to Brock in person about the charge. He promised we would be refunded. No refund still, 6 weeks later. Of course our phone calls don’t get returned.

It’s just poor customer service to pinch every penny and try to milk your customers out of every cent by ignoring them.

Needless to say, we won’t be returning once everything calms down and we will be finding a more honest gym.

10/6/20 update - my husband went into the gym in person (again) - and was given the run around from the staff saying they don't know when Brock will be in. It's so strange that a gym doesn't have work schedules, don't you think?

10/20/20 update - the response from the owner says that they will resolve it. My husband went in 10 days ago and spoke to Brock and was promised a refund - but there has STILL been no refund in our account.

Post COVID: Despite posted signs that enhanced cleaning is being done every 30-60 min I did not see a single staff member on the floor cleaning in the 90 min I was there. They also were not enforcing proper mask usage with many members walking around the gym without masks (despite state mandates for their usage). When I requested the staff enforce this they walked around without saying anything and acted surprised when I requested cancellation of my membership. It will be sad when they inevitably have exposures because they can't/won't enforce these mandates.

Absolutely the most horribly run gym I have ever been apart of in over 20 years of working out. Terrible staff, new management there every other week (so that should say the level of incompetence there) equipment constantly broken never fixed right. Crammed facilities especially since taking on another gym. They actually did me a favor today by revoking my membership after 4 years a tons of complaints for broken equipment unsanitary bathrooms. Revoked me for not properly wearing my mask. I will take the 10 dollars to another gym that is actually in the people business. Don’t tell a member that they can take off their mask if there is social distance then pick and choose who gets to wear it. Bittersweet ending though for factory your gym and staff are complete garbage. Especially Brock!

I just joined the gym after going to another gym for the last three years. I love the atmosphere a lot more than my previous gym. I like that they have a women's only section that offers more privacy. There are a lot of pros. Cons are while being given my tour when I joined I was asked if I was interested in speaking with a fitness coach. In the past I had thought about speaking with a professional so I booked an appointment. The gentleman that I met with was great, very informative and showed me some exercises that could help me reach my goals. Little did I know this would lead to getting me to sign up for some personal training sessions that weren't too pricey but I would have liked don't time to think about it instead of feeling very pressured, it gave me an anxiety attack because I don't like to be put on the spot or commit to something I am not sure I want to commit to being so new to this gym environment. I know that's a part of their job, I have similar goals I have to meet at my job as well.. Getting people to sign up for loyalty accounts and credit cards and I fight for those because I'm held accountable for getting those numbers! So I tottaaally get it I only wish it was a little less...pushy. a
Again, the coach was great and overall it was a good experience I was just hoping to meet with someone who is interested in helping people and give me some positive feedback and empower me to do this on my own with the knowledge they were providing me, not making me feel like I need major help from other people for a significant fee. I will continue to go to gym and If you feel you NEED to meet with a trainer regularly then it does seem like a really good investment.

I have been working out at Fit Factory for awhile now and find the staff friendly and the area is always clean and easy to get around. I very rarely have to wait for machines and the women's room has recently undergone a restructure so that every thing works better and they have brought in more weights of heavier resistance.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This is the worst facility I've ever been a part of. I lost hundreds of dollars because I tried to cancel and the policy makes you come in to cancel. I moved far away and can't make it in to the club to cancel so I was told that a manager would call me and get my membership cancelled. I never got a call. I called back and left a message on the answering machine to have someone call me back but again no manager called. Whenever I call there, there is no manager on sight and no one seems to have the "authority" to press a button to take my name out of the system. Meanwhile my bank account gets charged every month for the last year. Something fishy is going on here!

I’ve been with Fit Factory Kingston for over a year and think the place is clean, and stocked with good equipment. My issue is with their personal training sessions. It’s expensive and you’re required to do 6 months of it. For two sessions per week, it was $340 a month extra on top of my $30 membership. I did every session, and worked out on my own during the week and saw ZERO change in my body composition after three months. No increase in muscle. I voiced my concerns and was told to continue and my body would catch up. After completing my 4th month I told them I wasn’t continuing because of it and was told I still had to pay for the last two months...$680 dollars!!!! And I’m still the same size! I just wanted someone to help me work through this and lose the baby weight!!!

Went for the first time yesterday. Was welcomed like I've been going for years. Very pleasant staff, when I asked her about the play care she explained it all to me. Was clean and not to busy I had no wait for the machine I wanted to use. I've been to other gyms where you feel out of place becuase your not a " fit person" but there I didn't feel like that.
