My daughter had a really bad experience at another swimming school, so attending this school was definitely a challenge. She was extremely afraid of being in the water, we ended up getting Angelina as her instructor and she is absolutely amazing ! She has helped my daughter to become less fearful of the pool and has been able to introduce a lot of techniques.

Edit/update: After a mix-up in communication, management was very quick to resolve an issue with scheduling. We really appreciate the time they took to reach out to us.

We have loved the Jump Start swim clinic, as if it gave our daughter consistent exposure to swim classes and water safety over a few days. The teachers/lifeguards have been so wonderful in supporting her, even through classes where she's felt anxious about going in the water and practicing some of the skills. They are so patient and follow the child's lead, and we feel confident they take kids safety seriously.

We are now looking forward to continuing at Goldfish for weekly classes!

I signed up for one lesson and 24 hours later, they hit me with four additional sessions, $180 total, without any warning. Their site and confirmation email made zero mention of “auto‑enrollment.” I clicked “Sign Up” believing I paid for a single class, there was no checkbox, no bold notice—just a tiny hyperlink buried in fine print that I failed to notice until after they’d already charged me. That’s pure bait‑and‑switch.

When I demanded an immediate refund for the extra lessons I never knowingly ordered, they refused. Instead, they dumped “credits” into my account, locking $180 in useless tokens I never asked for. They even scheduled me for a class, then canceled it themselves, and STILL refused any cash refund. Their policy? Automatic enrollment...no apology, no empathy, no real attempt to fix the mess they created.

Goldfish Braintree treats parents like walking ATMs, assuming you’ll never catch their hidden fees. They cancel classes at will, refuse to give refunds, and force you to use worthless “credits” just so they can keep your money hostage. Their customer‐service reps all recite the same script: “It’s our policy.”

Don’t be fooled by their cute branding and colorful ads. They’re a textbook scam operation. Be warned: sign up here at your own risk, because once they have your card on file, they’ll charge you dry and laugh in your face. Any response or reasoning may have does not excuse what they are doing. These predators deserve a class‑action lawsuit and should pay for every dollar stolen under false pretenses.

Extremely Disappointed – They Ruined My Son’s Birthday

I’m absolutely heartbroken over our experience at Goldfish Swim School. I hosted my 5-year-old son’s birthday party here, and they completely destroyed it. The manager would not allow my son — the birthday boy — to go into the pool unless an adult went in with him. This was never communicated to me beforehand, even though they called me multiple times to confirm payment.

As the host, I was not prepared or dressed to swim, and I wasn’t told this was a requirement. They showed zero empathy, had an incredibly rude attitude, and made me feel so humiliated that I was literally shaking. To make it worse, just two weeks earlier, we attended another birthday party at the same location, and my son — who was two weeks younger at the time — was allowed to swim without an adult. There were even 1-year-old babies in the pool without their parents. Why the double standard?

This inconsistency, lack of communication, and disrespectful treatment of a child on his birthday is unacceptable. Not only did they ruin a special day for my son, but they also left me emotionally devastated. I feel like my son wasn’t taken seriously, and I’m seriously considering legal action for the negligence and emotional distress this caused.

I do not recommend this location for birthday parties or anything else.

I am extremely disappointed with Goldfish Swim School in Braintree, MA. The level of unprofessionalism and lack of customer service is unacceptable. After canceling my membership, I was charged for an extra month without any prior notification. This charge came even after my cancellation was approved.

The swim classes are only 30 minutes long and held just once a week. The staff, mostly teenagers, appear disengaged and unhappy to be working with kids. It's clear that they lack the proper training and enthusiasm needed to create a positive learning environment.

Overall, my experience has been very frustrating and I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a professional and reliable swim school for their children. Avoid this place if you value your time and money.

Took my 3yo daughter for trial. She never had experience in a pool, and instructor was informed. First 5min and water was poured over head and she was dunked in pool. My daughter was nervous and did not have a good experience. We did not complete the trial class. I'm surprised this was done on her first day for a child with no water experience.

We love our time at Goldfish Braintree! My daughter has become such a confident swimmer and is learning to enjoy specific swim strokes like the butterfly and back stroke. The big plus is the comfort she shows in just being able to swim with any instructor, she loves that they are all friendly and engaging in and out if the pool. She can’t wait to show off the new skills she has learned since last summer at her grandmother’s pool this season!

Update: another year went by (2 years+) and my kid can't even swim across. Exactly coming out the water 3 times (back and forth) with group of 4 in 30 mins. With this speed, I hope 3 more years my kid can swim across that 12-15 ft. Sighhh

With 30 mins and ratio 4:1, you kid (3-6 years??? )will sit most of the time and come out 3 times 15s each with the instructor then come back to sit down. My kid is almost here ~10 months :). I would suggest go couple times for the kids get used to the water than move to YMCA for more focus training.

The Gold fish swimming school @ Braintree is great. Very clean facility, kids friendly. The front desk staff are always helpful. This summer was extraordinary with wonderful instructors. My two boys had tremendous progress and moved two levels in a record of time. They come now to school with excitement and more self confidence. You can tell how much the instructors worked hard to teach them swimming skills for each level and make sure they are competent before they move to the next level.
Their brother just joined junior 1 and he is more comfortable with the water. Their family swim time adds to the joy and help reinforce skills.

We loved everything about Goldfish. We had great instructors through out and had great experience with management. There were a couple of things I’d like to suggest, more weekday morning classes for 5 and under. Also my oldest was in swim force. I love the idea, but feel there was too much playtime and not enough learning what a swim team entails. I know it’s supposed to be fun, but it could be more structured.

“Everyone is friendly to both my boy and myself. Everyone seems to know his name. When at other swim clubs, I observed half the younger classes have crying children, I cannot even tell who is the teacher, and it was confusing who is in charge. At Goldfish, Braintree, it is easy to see who is in charge. Also, my son had a little regression after having to skip a week, yet I saw teamwork through the glass wall (bravo on that for extra viral protection!) of the leaders figuring out how to best deal with my boy. We are so excited to be able to enroll our son in swim classes - feels like we get a little piece of "normal" back and important social interaction and skill building for him. He's having a great time and we're feeling very safe - all instructors have face shields in the pool and all staff outside of the pool are wearing masks. There are also arrows throughout the facility to help control the flow of foot traffic to ensure as much distancing as possible.

We started our children here after they reopened following the covid-19 closings. They’ve been very diligent with cleaning the areas that the parents observe from and the changing rooms. The children are in masks and social distance protocols are in place while awaiting their lessons. In the lessons they keep each child in an assigned lane and have the children wait their turn in an assigned area within their lane to keep them socially distanced the best that can be expected in a pool. We have no complaints and would recommend if you’re looking for lessons.

It is very visible how careful the school is about keeping everyone safe. Everything about how you move about is clear, down to where to stand, direction to move, and where the guardian can sit. Twice, I had questions at the front desk and my 2.5 year old ran away so quick that I didn't even have time to react. No worries! A very friendly staff member was on it before I was!

The teachers are good with the kids but the managers don’t treat they’re employees with respect. Also I wouldn’t trust your child’s safety either considering they let pregnant woman lifeguard, knowing they won’t risking their pregnancy to save your drowning kid, they also use people who aren’t certified yet to lifeguard, they’re safety is posed. The pool is also disgusting. I don’t recommend this swim school. I’ve also gotten Conjunctivitis from this pool. Don’t waste your money here.

The swim lesson seemed really great and the concept is cute! My daughter loved it and they have lots of life guards so it seems very safe. Today was our first day... and ill say the weekend here was complete chaos. We just switched to a weekday and i hope itll be a little more low key. I dont know why they dont give 15 min time in between classes, itd be a much more pleasurable experience for everyone, although im hoping on a weekday it wont matter as much!

My infant started at Goldfish Swim School when he was 9 months old and he is moving forward with the curriculum. He really enjoys his time in the pool. The curriculum is great and the swim instructor (Leslie) is awesome! If you are looking for a place to get your infant familiar with the pool this is a great place to start. This place was brought to my attention when I Fox 25 news did a segment on this place months ago. I was not happy at his prior place he had attended for swim classes, so I decided to give this place a try. I'm so happy i did. This place is organized and family oriented. My son is definitely improving his swim skills. I appreciate that the staff give the guardians personal verbal updates five minutes before the class ends.

My only request is that I hope that classes expanded from a half hour to 45 minutes.

I think there is only 1 teacher who is not engaging and the class was boring but this was a one time event and I don't think I will have that person again as it was a make up class.
