At Goldfish Swim School - Norwood, we teach children how to swim and build character through guided play. Goldfish has become such an important place for us. After trying 3 or 4 different swim places/lessons with no success (my then 4 year old son was terrified of water), we tried Goldfish Norwood. Off the bat, they were so incredibly patient with him (and us!) and were able to give him a lot of differentiated support those first few weeks, which just was a testament to how much they care. My son also really struggled with the temperatures of other pools and would only last 5-10 minutes in a swim class, but the 90 degree pool that Goldfish has has completely helped. It took a few weeks for him to be able to get into the water on his own, but that was more progress than any other place we had been to. A little over a year later, my son can fully swim on his own, loves going under the water, and looks forward to swim class every week (and the ribbons.. he collects all of his ribbons!). He's had numerous teachers and they've all been engaging and supportive and because it's a set curriculum, it hasn't mattered if there is a "substitute" for his lesson. When we've had questions or concerns, management has been more than willing to listen and help.. which has been really appreciated. With 2 young kids, our schedules are all over the place so it's been really helpful to also have the opportunity to make up missed classes.. and super easy to book those makeup classes. All in all, Goldfish Norwood has been a huge game changer for our family.

We have been coming to Goldfish for a little over a year and a half now. Both of our sons look forward to coming each week. The staff has always been so gracious and accommodating, making sure they have a positive experience. We were thrilled to find Goldfish swim school for our almost 8 year old. The affordable costs and convenient location were attractive to us but what we also really needed were swim lessons with enough structure and individual attention to work for our extremely willful ASD/ADHD child. We have been so impressed with the patience and flexibility the swim instructors have shown our child thus far, allowing him to feel comfortable and gain confidence at his own pace. It is no longer a battle to get our kid to go to swim lessons, he actually looks forward to it and it is just such a relief.

Weβve been members for 3.5 years, since my oldest was in the baby class. Weβve loved every teacher weβve had and Iβm so happy with the progress Iβve seen. They are not only confident in the water but confident little people as well and I think these classes and the way they celebrate their progress has a lot to do with that. My girls are 2 and 4 and we have no plans to end swim lessons any time soon!

We have been thrilled with our experiences at Goldfish Swim School in Norwood! The teachers and staff are wonderful, and truly take the time to know each of their students. They greet children and parents with big smiles upon entry and make everyone feel welcome. In addition, they do an amazing job of differentiating within a lesson to make sure that each child in the group is able to make consistent progress towards the skills at each level. We also love the progress check-in from the teacher at the end of each lesson, as well as the emailed progress that we get about twice a month - these really help us to know exactly what skills our child has mastered, and what she is still working on. On top of all of this, there have been so many times that we have seen new swimmers come to a lesson looking very nervous and sometimes even crying, and within minutes the staff has them smiling, laughing, and happy in the pool, ready to learn. Our child quickly learned important safety skills as soon as she started in the Mini level class (e.g. back floating, turning and swimming to the wall, βcrab walksβ along the wall to get to a point of egress, and how to climb out of the pool at the wall), and now she is able to swim an Olympic-length pool and tread water for 60 seconds at only 4 years old, all from her lessons at Goldfish. She calls Goldfish her happy place and tells everyone that swimming is her jam. As her parent, I am so happy to know that she is a strong, safe swimmer. As if all this werenβt enough, we also LOVE the heated pool (so much easier for kids to get into, and parents as well when doing the Mini-level classes or the Family Swim times), as well as the spin dryers so that we arenβt taking home wet suits, the large changing area, and the hair drying station so that we arenβt going home with wet hair in the winter months. We cannot say enough about how much we love Goldfish Swim School in Norwood!

I didn't have the best experience here. Kind of a mixed bag. Communication from staff was lacking. Most of the time they were not sure of which instructors were working and when asked always defaulted to yes even though the instructor was out. No effort made to check the schedule. If you have a child that prefers to work with one instructor, I wouldn't recommend this place. Communication is key and if you voice concerns, it doesn't get any better. Good luck.

Nice and clear pool, but the temperature is not always consistent. My biggest problem is the Fridayβs Family time, we have to call at 9am since the spot is filling very quickly. But it is a totally a lucky draw, even we called at 9am, but you have to talk to a live person to get the spot. And the voice mail is not counted. So you have to keep calling and calling and wish you have a lucky day. My 11th time call was picked up today. What a good day for me! At the other hand, even you are on the waiting list , you still do not know if or when you could get the spot. The reservation system look like a mess, since of that. I have talked to the owner to complain. He is not even thinking it could be problem or could be improved. If you do not get a clear answer, do not come and make your family get upset and change your Fridayβs family time. Generally, it is good for little kids swim lessons, but not for the school age kids family time . As a working parents, it is a very attracted part of membership benefits to have a family time.

We have been going to goldfish swim for about six months. We have enjoyed bringing our son to learn how to swim. Their pool is vibrant and fun for young children and easy to get them ready and change them after their lesson. All the teachers are very good with these young children and I love to see my son actually learn to swim. He has accomplished floating on his back getting in and out of the pool on his own and even swimming a few feet by himself. We love that they get a little reward as they accomplish these feats.

Having been a certified Red Cross swim instructor for many years, I had very high expectations. Goldfish swim school has not only met but exceeded those expectations. Not only do I feel my child is safe and learning safe swim skills, I also feel very comfortable being in their facilities during these crazy Covid times. I signed up my kid at Norwood location since they opened it. First one year seems to be good. Quality of instruction came down dramatically for last few months may be because of overwhelming enrollment at this location.
It is unfortunate that my kid has one bad instructor at one point and when we complained, from next class I can see instructorattitude towards the kid and parents completely changed.
No more going back to the this place again.

We love the small classes and the individual attention our son gets. He has progressed so much faster at Goldfish than in any other swim lessons we have tried. We love that he moves up to the next level whenever he is ready and that there is continuity in the skills instruction across levels and teachers. And we love Zach!! Classes are expensive, starting a $99 a month for the first child and reduced to $92 for the second. Make up classes are only scheduled 7-days out, and unpredictable pool closures have left us with makeup classes we have been unable use. Also, family swim times are a part of your membership, but at the added (public) cost of ) $5 per-person or $15 per family (whichever is lower).

I really wanted to give this place five stars but I just can't, at least not yet.
Having a young child of 11 months, we wanted to introduce her to swimming and after a few Google searches, found three nearby locations to this Michigan-based franchise, including their newest out in Norwood that opened recently.
I filled out an interest form and no more than 90 seconds later, my phone rang and the young one was booked for her first, mini class. A few days went by and off we were on a brisk Saturday morning.
The establishment itself is absolutely awesome. Bright colors, a nice fish tank and a huge viewing area which overlooks the pool, with chairs, for the family members who aren't actively participating in the swimming. There's some Tropical-themed changing rooms, a changing table and even a couple of centrifuges to help dry up towels and swim gear. They've thought of everything and it's all kid-themed and immaculate.
The staff is relatively friendly, especially the ones in the pool doing the classes and overall we've had a good experience. Well... except for the first time we went. The water heater broke so the pool was much colder than it should have been. No heads up, apologies or refunds. We had to check-in before our second class to make sure that things were back to normal and they were but it would have been nice to know ahead of time because we would have never driven out there knowing that my daughter would spend 30 chilly minutes in the water shivering and miserable.
So why only 4 stars? Mostly because of their front desk scheduling process and pricing models. Both times we've been they've been incredibly aggressive in trying to sell us on their $100/month tier good for 1 lesson/a week even though I've repeatedly said that because of scheduling, that we'd rather do the $25 walk-ins. They've told us many times that they can't fit us in many classes because they prioritize the people with the monthly plan which is absurd because why offer walk-ins if you're not going to honor anything?
Their schedules are also very limited on weekends with only 2-3 available 30 minute blocks per day which can make it tough for some people to make it. I was kind of hoping they'd have more per day but maybe that'll change over time? Who knows.
We plan on continuing to come for the time being and hope that they'll take a more passive approach to this whole $100 plan and let us do the $25 walk-ins. Rumor is they might get rid of it all-together at which point we'll probably go somewhere else since I don't want to commit to a lesson a week. They're aggressive to the point where we've had to walk out and get things scheduled over the phone which was much easier and quicker. Go figure.
But that aside, Goldfish is a great franchise and the staff clearly cares deeply about the experience they provide and the facilities are top notch. I'm a fan.

We love Goldfish Swim School in Norwood. They are very accommodating. Staff is friendly, especially Joe (General Manager).We are coming there for family swim every Friday. The water is warm and very comfortable for our 2 years old to be in. Love that they provide some floaties, balls, and goggles for the kids to use.
