My (4y) daughter has absolutely loved Gymnastics Academy of Boston in Medford. Coach Jasmin and Coach Andy have both been wonderful, especially with the youngest classes. Coach Jasmin is fun, engaging and so so good with the little ones. She has helped my daughter learn and grow more confident.
The Me & My Shadow / Tumble Tots combo can at times be challenging because the older students see the younger students' parents involved and want theirs out there as well but the teachers do what they can to make it a seamless experience and separate the two groups when possible.

We absolutely loved the Gymnastic Academy of Boston–Medford, and Coach Jess was truly the heart of it for us. Her passion for teaching always shone through in everything she did. She had a special way of connecting with the kids—encouraging them, challenging them, and helping them believe in themselves. Under her guidance, my child grew not only as a gymnast but also in self-confidence, leadership skills , and perseverance. Even though she’s no longer there, the impact she made continues to shine through in the kids she coached. Watching my child thrive under her guidance was such a gift. We’re so grateful for Coach Jess and all the positivity she brought to the gym and our child’s life.

GAB Medford is a wonderful gym filled with coaches and staff who truly care about the kids they train. The owner, Julia, is extremely accommodating and passionate about helping youth across a variety of programs and different teams reach their true potential. Coach Michele is also very knowledgable and my kids have had great experiences with her! I would highly recommend this gym to families in the greater Boston area, and to those who are excited about improving their gymnastics abilities!

My daughters have been taking gymnastics classes at GAB Medford for several years now, and from day one, the coaching staff has been incredibly supportive, attentive, and genuinely invested in each child’s growth. Every class is well-organized, energetic, and fun, and my girls always leave feeling proud and excited for the next one. We’ve had consistently positive experiences across the board, and it’s clear the coaches really care about what they do.

We celebrated my daughter's birthday at GAB Medford, and it was a fantastic experience! The staff was incredibly helpful and organized, making the entire party stress-free for us. The kids had a blast with the gymnastics activities, and the coaches were great at engaging them and keeping them entertained. The staff was awesome about helping set up and clean up making this so easy for us. The staff was super accommodating to any adjustments we requested, I highly recommend this venue for a unique and memorable birthday party!

My child has not only improved their physical abilities but also gained confidence and discipline. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to get into gymnastics or enhance their existing skills!

I must echo the previous reviewers comments in terms of how excellent of a coach Jess is. As adult trying beginner gymnastics with no previous knowledge or exposure to the sport, she made me feel safe and secure to truly put myself out there. Coach Jess, I would give a bazillion stars.
However, I recently learned of her dismissal from the gym. Those of us who were her students were given zero notice of this change. For those in particular who completed the spring semester, they were informed of her dismissal immediately before they were supposed to do a showcase to show off their accomplishments for the entire year in front of family and friends.
Rather than inform clients of this massive change via email or call, this was done incredibly unprofessionally and in an insensitive way that dampened morale prior to this showcase and left the adults in utter shock. Despite attempts to reach out to the owner/gym as to why this occurred or receive a formal apology, no apology was offered or some form of kind word about what the future of adult gymnastics is. Though the details of the dismissal may not be something perhaps students are privy too, the way the situation was handled is poor at best. I can't feel good or recommend other adults move forward with this gym or company when it's clear there's little regard or respect for its adult clients/students.
Jess is no longer the adult coach and the way adults were notified is entirely unacceptable. I hope the gym learns from this situation to treat its customers better and keep them more informed, because after this incident they've likely lost longtime clientele that were avid supporters of the gym after Jess served there for over a decade.

We have had an absolutely wonderful year at GAB Medford because of Coach Jess & Coach Wren. I know very little about gymnastics but I know that my daughter feels confident and like a valued member of the GAB community because of her coaches. Coach Jess and Coach Wren are amazing leaders who have fostered my daughters love of gymnastics and make her feel like she is an integral part of the gym. I have watched her confidence grow significantly this past year.
Additionally, both Coach Jess and Coach Wren worked my daughters birthday party recently. It was incredibly organized and well run. They managed to get 18 first graders and younger to do all the fun aspects of gymnastics safely. I was most amazed that ALL the children sat nicely in a circle and listened to the directions! Finally, they made my daughter feel like she was the most special person in the world at her birthday party.
Due to these exceptional coaches, we have grown to love GAB. We are so happy that they are so passionate and their dedication shows.

My family has had an amazing experience at GAB Medford! My daughter is 3 and this is her first experience with other children in a structured class setting. Coach Michele is incredible with her and is helping her learn not only gymnastics skills, but also life skills like patience, working with others, and following a routine. We look forward to our class every week and highly recommend this business for beginners gymnastics classes, especially with Coach Michele. We have never had any problems with communication and regularly receive emails from GAB, plus they make it very easy to keep in touch on the parent portal.

Summer camp itself is great. Teachers are great. So this part I'll give 5 stars. However -
NO
ONE
ANSWER
EMAIL
NOR
THE
PHONE
FOREVER
!!!!!!!
It is ridiculous. If you provide email online, and phone number online, and the "owner" email online, and then no one reply for more than 2 years!!!! (I sent several emails within these 2 years, hopefully will get answer some day but never).
Very irresponsive.
This, I gave 1 for stars, so totally 3 star. I'm sorry.

Can't comment on the teaching or gymnastics, but dealing with the owner and employees has been anything but professional. It is clear they don't know how to run a small business, or only care about getting our money. Multiple canceled classes without warning. No attempt to return calls or emails. When I finally got a hold of an instructor and the owner, they made no attempt to find out why we were not satisfied. Nothing but excuses and blaming the customer. Lesson learned. Hours lost. Consider looking for another gym.

My daughter has been in this program since the move to Medford in April of 2023. We have been extremely happy at this gym. I’m
constantly impressed by how many people know my daughter by name, the camaraderie between the coaches, and the incredible encouragement they give my daughter (and all the gymnasts).
Julia, the owner, has been quick to respond to my questions and find efficient solutions.
My daughter has come so far in a relatively short amount of time. She is always looking forward to gymnastics- it’s often the highlight of her week.

Poorly organized - would not recommend if you're new to this gym. Showed up at the correct location (Medford) for an adult class and waited 50 minutes at the entrance (the facility was open with lights on). I received no instructions and could not get ahold of anyone over the phone nor in person. There is no front desk - just a door that opens to the Floor. Eventually gave up and made the >1 hr trip back home. Extremely disappointing - please do not waste your time!

My grandchildren just started at GAB in June for Summer Camp and they enjoyed it so much! We then began Tumble Tots and Acrokats classes in the fall with my daughter’s 3 and 6 year old girls. We couldn’t have better things to say about our experience at GAB Medford, especially about the coaches and management!

Unfortunately, I must change this review to accurately reflect my experience. After 6 years of the same, I was about to leave prior to the move to Medford due to the lack of care and concern in general for my daughter's progress. I made the move from Cambridge to Medford, hoping that with the change in management that there would also be change on a broader scale. It didn't happen. Parents, if your child does not come with skills, they will be left behind here and not supported to progress. If you show concern, the issue becomes a 'you' or 'your child' problem. The staff are not parent friendly, nor do they care if they are. They don't say hello. They don't give updates. They don't talk about how to help your child progress unless you insist on having that conversation. They don't take direct or indirect feedback from parents, for example, scheduling intermediate classes at times that actually work with school and commuting schedules. If there is an oversight with payment, expect to need to show clear records and to persist with communication to get it reconciled, if you can get it reconciled. Expect to be asked to pay even if you've overpaid for the semester or summer. Also expect many mistakes and the same kinds of mistakes over and over. Much of the email communication has a negative/combative overtone - 'If you don't pay, then such and such" vs. 'Thanks so much for your support and we are appreciative of the community'. This attitude translates into in person communication. I could go on. The lack of care towards parents who are investing time, energy, effort for their kids to participate is evident...Over several years, I spent close to $10,000 at GABC, and my daughter who is capable and willing, and spent no less than five summers at camp, couldn't get a coach to pay attention enough to help her get to a walkover. Any progress she made, would quickly regress when coaches wouldn't 'catch' her advancing and support her where needed. They do treat kids who transfer in with ready skills from other places well, though. Maybe that's the trick?! I won't spend another dollar there, but hope they can eventually get it together. We hoped more for our experience, as we wanted our daughter to learn skills and confidence and while I'm glad she took what she could out of it ages 4-10, as a parent I'm overall disappointed with what she learned - which wasn't much more than she could have done in the backyard on her own. Moving on to Ballet and cross country...Good luck, GABC!

May 2022- Do Not sign up for this location. Class sizes are huge, run by high school girls who are completely unprofessional, and classes are often started 30 - 40 minutes late. Just today our instructor, for a class of 18! Had to climb through the window to open the school. Don't bother calling anyone, there is no return of phone call or email. It's dangerous, your kids won't learn anything, and it's a huge waste of time and money.

We took my daughter here twice for the toddler classes and she had fun because it's a play gym but this place is extremely disorganized. None of the teachers could answers any of our questions we had. There is no organization about where the kids go when you come in since there are so many different classes going okay the same time. There wasn't anyone at the front desk so anyone can just come in and not pay if they wanted to. The website isn't very clear on what age group can come when. We also felt like the structure of the class was limiting. They weren't really allowed free play, the teacher just pushed the kids to do tricks. For a 2 year old class that's just not possible. They need free play. We were very disappointed and will be going elsewhere.

Totally unprofessional and unorganized place. We came for an open gym and signed up for a free class trial. The owner had no idea of studio’s schedule and clueless of anything that is going on. She gave us a trial time, which I called to double confirm because it was different from the website. Turned out it was the wrong date and time and there was no class at all, while she insisted on the phone there was. The equipment is old and dated, some even seem unsafe. The place was dirty and old. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY & TIME with this gym!

Agree with the poor reviews, especially regarding the experience of the staff and the overall disorganization of the operation. It made me super uncomfortable as a parent every time I went there. If you are a parent and live around Boston, you are blessed with choices for your kids to have enriching experiences. Why bother with a place that is second rate?

I would not recommend this place to anyone. They do not teach the children right. They are poorly organized. My daughter missed 2 classes for health reasons and when she returned she was not able to participate in the presentation. They told me that an email was sent but I never received an email. Do not put your children in this place. Now my daughter is in a gymnastic school in burlington and i am very pleased with the big difference.

I confirm the place is run by non experimented staff... I was there when the accident happened during last year show and I saw it coming - the coach had a cast on her foot, and clearly couldn't secure the girls jumps !
I am guessing she just wanted to help, but definitively there is a lack of security. Again recently, I could see girls jumping and landing on their heads and obviously one girl came to the coach complaining about her neck... after a little pat on the back from the coach, she was back in line ! Ok girls at this age are flexible, but I expect more professionalism from a gym place. Definitively I don't feel reassured after those events and I wish they had a real manager with training on security for their coaches as some of them are nice and very passionate.

I have never given 1 stars to anyone but this place would deserve negative ones. This review comes after 2 full year memberships for my 12 year old daughter. First of all the management is inexistent: front desk is constantly empty, phone line always on voicemail (messages never replied), no replies to emails. Most of the instructors are gone recently with no replacements and several kids and families were just sent home with no other notice, no word of excuse, no other options. Safety is inexistent as well: in 2 years we were never asked to buy insurance (that should be compulsory). In last year's gala one of the instructors collided with a student who had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance and the show to be cancelled (with no excuse-no follow up from anybody...). I also forgot to mention that it is far from cheap (for what it is...)
In one word: Stay Away! There are a lot of excellent places in Boston and Cambridge that take instruction and safety much more seriously and at more competitive prices.

I'm giving this place 2 stars..
1. The coaches for the little kids are very unprofessional, I think any teen ager who can do a round off or a cartwheel will make the cut to be their coach. The boys coach does not have control of any of his boys class, they seem like they are doing parkour and just goofing around 80% of the time.
2. the class runs for an hour, They ALWAYS start late, and 30 minutes of the whole class they are on the second floor playing around on the foam pit and just doing nothing which my kid can do at home(LITTLE KIDS CLASS).
3. They rarely try anything new, its been half way through the semester and my daughters been doing the same routine each time. NO PROGRESS is seen what so ever.
4. I signed my daughter up for a class which only had 2 kids in it, next thing you know the coach goes missing and they mixed her class with a smaller age class, and she has not progressed at all. and until this day both classes have the same coach.
DO NOT WASTE YOU PRECIOUS MONEY ON SOMETHING THATS SO OVERPRICED FOR THE POOR QUALITY OF THE COACHES.
5. The gym is very clean, and it looks fairly new.. but the quality of gymnastics your little one will get, would be garbage.
6. My daughters class had no coach for 3 weeks, the front desk assistants took over the class, and if i may say so it was such a waste of time even going..if the coaches can't do their job, neither will the front desk assistants with your little one.
Overall experience hasn't been the best, I expected better coaching for a place like GAB, they make a good first impression, but my biggest complaint is, and will always be the coaches, the quality of the class, and the overall experience my daughters had. this will be my daughters first and last semester there, I will drive the extra 20 minutes touring her somewhere else. Another thing is while the gym is fairly "big" they squeeze in like 5 classes, and your little ones will get stuck either on the trampoline or the bars through-out the whole class, eventually moving them up to the 2nd floor playground to do nothing. THEY DONT PRIORITIZE LITTLE KIDS CLASS! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY IF YOU WANT YOUR KID TO REALLY LEARN!! I'm sure you can find a cheaper babysitter somewhere else because thats what your paying for at GAB for little kids.
