Hard Knocks Muay Thai is the best gym I’ve been to. Bill, the owner, is personable, knowledgeable, and makes everyone feel like family. He’s always willing to share his expertise and help you grow. The training, atmosphere, and community are second to none.

Awesome environment and instructors. I felt extremely welcomed being an individual without any experience. Would recommend to anyone looking to enter the sport or simply seeking a workout.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience at Hard Knocks. From day one, the energy, professionalism, and passion in this gym stood out. The classes are intense, fun, and incredibly effective, no matter your fitness level. Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, there’s something for everyone.

What really makes Hard Knocks stand out are the coaches β€” they are not only highly skilled and knowledgeable, but also super approachable, supportive, and flexible. They take the time to tailor workouts to your goals, push you when you need it, and celebrate your progress along the way.

The flexibility of the schedule has made it easy to stay committed even with a busy life. You never feel like you’re just a number here β€” it truly feels like a community that lifts each other up.

If you’re thinking about joining, stop thinking and do it. Hard Knocks is the real deal.

Don’t go here. The instructors are extremely condescending. Rude and disrespectful. If you enjoy being screamed at rather than taught…This is your place.

I've been a member of HK for over 3 years now. I can confidently say that this is one of the best combat gyms in the area. All of the coaches and assistant coaches are top-notch and respectful. The gym has produced some world-class fighters (world champs, regional champs, top contenders globally, etc.). The fight team is very competitive and is continually improving.

For non-fighters, this gym boasts a welcoming environment to all and has a great vibe. There's a huge emphasis on technique, tradition and attitude. Ego is frowned upon. People are encouraged to try their best and improve themselves, all while having fun. I've seen (and had) many friendships start here and develop to lifelong relationships.

A noteworthy mention, is that out of all of the gyms I've been in, this gym is probably one of the most diverse that I've seen. If you're interested in trying out Muay Thai, this is the place to start. The intro class is free (as of Jan 2024) and there is no commitment on it. If you like it, you may find yourself joining one of the best communities in the Boston area. If not, no sweat and hopefully you had fun.

It’s been almost 3 years since I started Muay Thai at Hard Knocks and I can’t say enough great things about this place. Ranging from new students to professional fighters, the atmosphere at Hard Knocks is unbeatable. The trainers are as professional as it comes. I promise you will not find a better striking gym in New England.

This gym has actively produced World Champion kickboxers, cornered and guided UFC fighters as well as educates and safely trains our youth and adult population in a way that is educational, FUN, traditional and most importantly effective. Muay Thai is a effective self-defense tool that will not only keep you safe but most importantly get you fit and feeling in the best shape of your life.

I am a martial arts school owner and I travel 1 hour and 30 minutes to be able to train and share knoweledge with these wonderful people

I have been training here 3 to 5 times a week for nearly 3 years now. Excellent real Muay Thai instruction. Bill the gym owner has been part of the Muay Thai scene in New England since the early 90's, and Jake who runs most of the classes is an absolute encyclopedia of Muay Thai knowledge and fight IQ, and has the ability to teach to prove it.

The new location on 63 Sprague Street in Hyde Park is a total game changer, it has much more space for more equipment, more students, more everything. There is even a full 22 foot boxing ring, very nice.

Even if you have NO interest in becoming a fighter or fighting, you will have a blast, get in an excellent FUN workout, and be welcomed with open arms. Learn a new skill, get in shape, make some great friends. Highly recommended.

Been training at Hardknocks for 3 years now and I've watched things go from Good to better! Just moved in to a new and larger space that's still in the city, and accessible by MBTA if you don't/can't drive.

The training is great, if it wasn't I wouldn't have been here for 3 years. Everyone from the members to the trainers are cool and all are welcome, no bad vibes! They really go out of there way to help you out with your goals, weather it's to live a healthier lifestyle, build some confidence, or become a fighter, Hardknocks will give you it's best.

It's also cool that now the gym is located right near Sky Zone, a rock climbing gym, and gymnastics gym.

And its Affordable!

I was in Boston for 6 months due to work, and having tried Muay Thai in the past, decided to pick up again. Training at Hard Knocks was definitely one of the highlights of my stay in Boston. Jake and Bill are great instructors. They help you out with fundamentals and are patient and humble while pushing you to continually improve. Training with the other members has helped as well. Would highly recommend!
