The new manager has “great power”to make decisions on what should be the rules. If you don’t agree or have doubt, he won’t have the patience to explain or help out. He will direct you to the “corporate”. After I called the corporate line, 2 representatives just hang up the phone when I was still talking. Now, I know why he can just make up rules by himself, because the “corporate” will not listen or care and he can of course do whatever he wants. Simply put, if you want to have real customer service or a real pool, please stay away from LA fitness.

Great facility But really NOT well managed. The manager in this location changed 4 times over the past half a year. The contract we had from the first manager was not followed by the latter managmer. Our coach initially signed contract and rented the room for our group lessons which has been ongoing for a few months, that does not require the trainee to have membership. Suddenly the new manager came (I dont want to put his name here) who refuse us to enter the gym without each individual membership. Handled not nicely. Even refuse us to use the free 7-day membership which is officially available in that facility.

As a gym manager, custome service is one of the important role. We left. The contract was broken. Hopefully the refund process is smooth.

Bad management. We have had a private group class here at LA fitness branch for many months. The instructor had an agreement with a previous manager to have a private group class of 10+ people once a week. We pay a fee to rent a classroom and the students do not need to have a LA fitness membership to take this class. Managers came and left, but we never had a problem. Ocassionally, we were asked to check in, but we just told the front desk we were here for the group class, no need to check in. However this morning, the new manager refused to let us in without a membership, and even after the instructor showed him the messages from previous managers, he still refused to let us in or refund the money we paid.
Poorly managed facility. The swimming pool forever not working. The classroom on the 2nd floor does not have AC? have to use a big noisy fan to circulate air. The lights are automatically shutdown every 10+ minutes, and we have to stop in the middle of exercise to turn them back on.

This place cant keep anything working. Right now the pool has been closed for 6 Months and no one seems to have an update on progress. All the stair climbers have been broken for months. One of the two rowing machines has been broken for at least a year. and countless cardio equipment is out of order as well

Update: I finally got a new date on the Pool - June, 2025. This means it ill have been closed for 8month of my 12 month membership... assuming that date holds. Gym is refusing any refund

Been going here for the past 3 years.

Seen people just walk through without scanning which is concerning if someone happens to go into the lockers and steal things. Also annoying when the gym is already crowded and its people that don't even pay to be there.

Equipment is a mess. Half the cardio machines don't work or are on their last legs. elliptical machines are rusted out and unable to use them. The stair climbers have been in and out of commission for over a year now. Everyone I talk to the gym i feel has asked about it with no answers.

Weighted machines are usually okay but when they go out of commission usually takes a while to get back up. Also pretty pathetic that they don't have a few extra carabiners and pins for the weight machines on hand such an easy cheap fix.

Bathrooms and showers are gross and also smell like poop or pee. Stall are rusted out. showers are gross and missing tiles.

Also pathetic they can't buy a few new machine attachments and foam rollers. Got to the point where a member paid for new foam rollers and weight machine attachments on his own dime for people to use.

If i had time I could do an audit and take pictures of this place for all the things wrong but it would probably take too much time.

It's not like this is even a cheap membership its like 40 bucks a month and they don't take care of anything. Honestly could go to planet fitness and get a better bang for your buck. I feel like people only go to this gym honestly because its the only one in the area.

Find it comical that the owner that responds to these google reviews only respond to the good reviews but ignore all the bad ones really shows they care! Go ahead and check for yourself hilarious.

Like some of the other reviews I signed up for the pool for before and after back surgery in October 2023. Fortunately, I can go to Stoughton which is another four miles from where I live. The club is very friendly, the pool is well maintained, and there is always a friendly greeting from the front desk. Because I am in a walker, they always rush to the door to open it for me. With all the problems with the Walpole gym, they are slowly going out of business. They don't have enough staff, problems with keeping the place clean, and can't afford to maintain their equipment like the pool and machines.

The pool has never been operational in the 8 months I've been a member. The bathroom trashes are frequently overfilled and cleaning services need to be drastically improved. There are multiple machines or benches with torn pads and broken handles or missing weight pins. Plates are frequently left in disarray on the floor. Staff seems pleasant but I would be too if I got paid to watch Netflix all day on my phone. I'm also a member of esporta in Warwick RI and that facility is top notch. It's the same company with different branding and a much much better mgmt/staff/cleaning crew.

This place is AWFUL. The gym is in DESPERATE need of a remodel. If you decide to join here, you will be very disappointed and disgusted every time you come. I have contacted corporate a couple of times to see if there was any plan for a remodel or a plan of action, and all emails and phone calls have gone unanswered. It seems as if they believe once a gym is opened, it requires zero maintenance or upkeep. The poor reviews continue to poor in day after day for over a year now, but there is zero change. I will be cancelling my membership this week.

Dirty and unkempt gym. Came in to cancel membership and was told to put down name and phone number and that it would be cancelled the following business day. Woman at front desk told me I was all set. They did NOT cancel my membership and continued trying to bill me. When I called to speak to someone I was rudely told “well she was new and didn’t know what she was doing. Either come in again or go online” by Damien williams. When I asked to speak to the manager, Darren, he very rudely told me that I “you owe us money so I don’t know what you’re calling here about trying to get me in trouble”. The customer service I received from Daren at the front desk was revolting to say the least. First I was completely ignored, then when I said hello to get his attention he was extremely annoyed and bothered and stared at me like how dare I interrupt him while he is staring into nothing. Then he was utterly rude when I told him I was here for a club tour, and did not remember the name of the person I was supposed to get a tour from. I honestly thought he was going to start yelling at me. Such a turnoff from this whole establishment. The pool has not worked since Oct 2024, 5 months!!!! The main reason I joined this gym was the pool. Also, 3 of the 3 stair climbers don't work, and the place is dirty, nasty clumps of hair in showers when I am there at 6am, trash bins full. Even clocks were not moved back in Fall. Now, they are accurate again since it's March. When I bring up concerns, I get different stories, everyone is clueless, and no one seems to care. They couldn't even be bothered to change the clock.
With the pool, I was told to go to LA Fitness 7 miles away even though the main reason I chose Walpole location is because it's within 1 mile from my house. The people are nice enough, but no one seems to be in charge. The place is very disappointing. I would just leave but can't because I'm trying to catch up on PT sessions accumulated that I am told I would lose if I leave. I emailed Corporate office for a refund, with no response.

The culture of the members of this location is awesome, but management/corporate just doesn't care about the members enough to fight for the ability to keep machines operating and facilities clean. The "bare minimum" has not been met for a long time at this gym and it's become their "new" standard.

Update 12/23/24: All stair masters are still broken and I'm told there is no time table for repair... It's been months... Again. Stair masters are constantly down and when they go down, they go down for months at a time.

I am sadly happy to give this place a horrible rating.

At 54 I have been an athlete since I was four years old. Playing sports though school and college, serving in the military and having a job with the government I have worked out in and seen gym facilities all over the country and the world. It would be impossible to be a more poorly managed, dirty, broken, faulty atmosphere than LA FITNESS in Walpole, MA.

I used to live in Southern California where on every other corner there was a gym. The thrre big names were W4 HOUR FITNESS, BALLYS, & LA FITNESS. All facilities were impeccably maintained. They had to be because you could just leave and go down the street for a better product. Sadly LA FITNESS falls so short of corporate standards I don't know how it is allowed to maintain the Brand Name.

Let's start with staff. The front door staff are about as friend as an empty sneaker sitting at the desk to greet you. The only person with any personality of all of the staff is Roger the Janitor and he is probably the best known person in the building.

Presentation and equipment:

The gym has what appears yo be a beautiful pool. The pool is beautiful only because it is never used. It is broken and closed nine months of the year.

Weight equipment is b insufficient, there simply is not enough handles, grips, extensions for the facility forcing you to regularly abandon certain exercises because the bar or handle you need is nowhere to be found.

Cable equipment looks great walking in the door. Wait, walk around, as you will see how much of it is broken amd stays that way for months without repairs.

Cardio Equipment

Wait for much of the same. It looks good on the second floor from downstairs but walk up and see how many bikes, treadmills, elyptical machines, etc... are broken and stay that way for irresponsibly extended periods of time.

Sadly, unless you can afford the ELITE gyms in the area, for regular people LA FITNESS remains one of the better choices.

I promise you will be thoroughly disappointed.

All-in-all great gym. Good amount of machines and benches at their free weights. They have a sauna which is a plus. Only did 4 stars because it takes a bit for machines and their sauna to be fixed when they are down. May be out of their control due to contractors schedule but they should look into having multiple contractors. Sauna is sometimes down for weeks … if I move back to the area I would still sign up.

This is a review for a wonderful man I met at the gym front desk Darren Williams. I was greeted with a smile and kindness. His knowledge of the gyms amenities were great and he helped me kindly and efficiently. I hope more people in the world offered this level of kindness to others the way he does. I’ll be back to this gym for sure!

Update the equipment already! I have been coming here for 15 years as it is right off the highway and very convienent for me, however I recently joined planet fitness for days when I am doing cardio. ALL 3 stair masters have been broken for months, 50% of the treadmills do not work, and almost all of the bikes stick, grind/ do not work properly. The pool is almost always closed. I have noticed they have been trying to do cosmetic updates (painting) but what they need is new equipment. In the 15 years I have been coming there is not one new/ updated piece of equipment. There are two specific treadmills that work decently I often keep an eye for someone to stop using and try to jump on right when they get off. It’s absurd. They clearly do not care- example- if you look through the reviews you will notice there is never a reply to the many many bad reviews but always a reply to the few good ones.

When I go to use an elliptical machine or the stairmaster, they are broken.The Old equipment cannot be good for anyone’s joints. I believe this gym has been open about 15 years and still has all its original equipment. You will see a lot of signs on the gym floor on equipment stating. “Out of service” For weeks . Every business person knows that it takes money to make money! Can you please fix the pool for the older people ? This is probably the only exercise they can do. There’s always an issue with the pool.
The manager is nice and she politely nods her head as you complain because there’s not a lot that she can do.
Invest in your investment before you lose club members.

Just today afternoon tried to use sauna, the temperature is super high that I couldn’t even seat on the bench, no receptionist at the reception desk for over 30 min to be found, No one knows how to change the temperature, the switcher/indicators are outdated.

"I recently joined LA Fitness and have been loving it! The facility is clean, the equipment is in great condition, and the staff is mostly friendly and helpful. A big shoutout to the new general manager, Savion—he’s been incredible! He genuinely cares about the members, is always visible and approachable, and has brought such a positive energy to the place. Everyone loves him, and it really feels like he’s making a difference.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the assistant general manager. I’ve had several negative interactions with them—they’re rude, unhelpful, and honestly bring down the vibe of the entire gym. They’re dismissive when you ask for assistance, and it feels like they don’t want to be there at all. The contrast between Savion’s professionalism and the assistant GM’s attitude is night and day. If LA Fitness is serious about keeping members happy, they should seriously consider a change in that position."

We attend the spin classes every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:15 a.m. Debbie teaches the class and motivates everyone with fun music. It's a bit loud, so bring ear plugs if you're sensitive to loud noises. But the only problem is the bikes are in need of repair. I sometimes arrive late for class due to my osteoarthritis medication. It causes nausea when taken in the morning, but no one seems to mind when my husband saves a bike for me. Very friendly crowd of all ages. Thank you all ! Dickie and Mary

There is a dark skin receptionist that keep saying how many minutes before closing starting at 30 minutes and keeps counting down every minute till closing! She is annoying and I can’t focus on workout, get her to stop!

I highly recommend visiting the Stoughton location over this one especially for personal training. I did personal training for less than 6 months and went through 5 different trainers that either quit or were fired. The remaining 6 months at the Stoughton location I had one trainer the whole time. Machines at the Walpole location are broke, old, and dirty, nobody from the staff reracks all the weights left everywhere. The pool or the sauna are constantly out of service. Save your time and money and go to the Stoughton location.

This place is not at all a friendly place for new people. The management is focused in getting the membership and enroll people to get the money and never care to provide the service they promised. My husband and I had very bad experience and never want to use this fitness center at all.

If I could give zero stars I would.
Unclean, out of date machinery, have not been updated since opening of facility, stair machines always broken, staff is lazy. Instead of replacing equipment to its proper location they sit on their phones. There is supposedly ONE representative who can fix all machines for all New England locations, so things remain broken for MONTHS. All three stair climbers have been broken for weeks with no fix in sight. Two of three have been broken since June. After a global pandemic they replaced all paper towels and spray bottles with terrible "sanitizing wipes" that are left all over the ground and don't clean anything. Treadmills, and everything else, are rusting out and disgusting.
