This is three years overdue, but better late than never!
I owe a lot to this dojo and its teachers.
I attribute a good number of my achievements to the discipline and spirit I gained while training in its brick walls
Anyone will try to tell you their martial art is the best and I certainly hope you will come to value it as I do
but what I can tell anyone who's even considering stepping on deck
This is a community of incredible people from all walks of life
Of all ages shapes and colors gathered here to practice learn and teach
If you desire strength of mind and body, look no further!

The dojo is fantastic. They have inspired confidence and grace in our teen meeting her where she is and pushing her gently to reach ever higher. Recently she completed the 100 Kata challenge!

A dojo like no other! We in the valley are very fortunate to have a dojo that blends, among so many noble things, patience, discipline, and one on one attention with high level black belts. I've been practicing for 6 months and am still surprised when I find myself in an all levels class surrounded solely by black belts and above.
Sensei Foster is among the most generous people I know, and his dojo's environment is nothing if not a mirror image of his generosity.
Northampton Karate has, in big ways, changed the way I move and focus in the world. I highly recommend Northampton Karate to anyone with even an inkling of interest. Highly worth the exposure.

Northampton Karate is welcoming and inclusive. My 14 year old is having a great time! She is new to karate but the support and instruction have provided a strong foundation and she's already feeling very confident.

After leaving an amazing kids program behind in Montana, we struggled to find ANY program that was of quality and value for our boys. Many programs taught kids, but the instructors did not know HOW to teach kids. Then we found Northampton Karate. Coach Jason and all of the instructors are fantastic. They know and understand how to teach children. They exhibit calmness and patience with all the kids from the beginner to the most advanced. My boys love Coach Jason and Northampton Karate!

I started training at Northampton Karate when I was five years old. I spent fourteen years here and I literally can't imagine who I would be without my practice. If you are looking for a martial art that goes deeper than punches and kicks, that teaches discipline and fosters individual growth, that values the fight not fought, Northampton Karate is the place to be. The community is unwaveringly friendly and supportive and the teachers are dedicated, knowledgable, and kind. Training in the traditional Okinawan style is hard work, but the rewards are unmatched.

Two generations of our family have trained here. Great dojo for a range of students. The dedicated adult who is deeply committed to their practice will find like-minded folks here. Also, the total beginner will be welcomed with skillful and patient instruction. And for children I cannot say enough good things. My son, now 13, began training when he was 6, and the experience has been 100% positive.

Northampton Karate teaches traditional, Okinawan Shorin Ryu style of karate. With many long term practitioners, this centuries-old martial arts style is shared with students through practice rather than through a lot of talking . Classes are rigorous and students learn both tactical and practical skills as well as the "why" and "how" behind the techniques. The dojo is a welcoming school - anyone can train, and improve their strength and fitness, while enjoying a glimpse or a deep dive into what this ancient art form has to offer.

Have been training here for several years. Every time I attend class I feel the better for it. A great community of people always helping one another to stay motivated and continue to become better practitioners of karate and more...cannot say enough good things about this place. If you’re thinking about giving it a try, I urge you to do so.

I am so glad to be a part of this community, as a member for 8 years. What started mostly as a fun activity has become a dedicated practice that I feel has helped me grow in many ways as I’ve gotten older.

My son has been a member of this dojo for many years. The staff at Northampton Karate are very talented, easy to talk with, work well together and work well with students. They break up the classes into smaller groups or one on one to work on skills. This dojo has gone above and beyond to keep the dojo open and students active during this covid pandemic. I feel very safe sending my child to class. I highly recommend this dojo for kids 5+ to adults.

I have been doing karate for 6 1/2 years. I joined in second grade and loved it from the beginning. My sister joined a year before I did and I always thought it just wasn’t my “thing”. I was completely wrong. Northampton Karate is a welcoming, accepting, kind, supportive and always interesting place to practice karate. If you want a good workout or are looking for some time to clear your mind, karate might be the thing for you.

I have been doing karate here for almost 8 years, and I am so grateful that I am able to be a part of such an amazing community. This dojo provides the perfect balance of both physical and mental training, all while teaching you how to defend yourself. I highly recommend this dojo to anyone who may be interested in joining, or even just trying it out.

Though I’d wanted to study martial arts, I’d pretty much given up on the idea, figuring that, being older, I’d missed my chance. But I gave Northampton Karate a shot, and I’m glad I did. I’ve never found a place so welcoming, and the quality of patient, careful instruction is second to none. We learn at our own pace in a wonderfully encouraging environment. But it’s more than just friendliness and becoming skilled in the physical part of the martial arts (the skill level here is immense.) It’s also about character building, developing the best that’s in us through self-discipline and an attitude of reverence and appreciation for those who are farther along (including quite a few teens!) and who, in turn, teach by example and generously share their wisdom and expertise. I’m grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to be part of this warm and supportive community. You may be too if you’ll give it a try.

Northampton karate has been a transformative and positive force in my son's life. The instructors are extremely kind while still expecting a standard of discipline consistent with karate. The community created feels like a family, communication and value exceed all expectations.

I have been practicing at Northampton Karate for over five years and it has become a huge part of my life. Both of my daughters started here before me and my oldest recently earned her adult black belt after almost eight years of hard work and dedication. The instructors are extremely talented, committed, fair, and helpful. Classes are a great workout, both physically and mentally, and are filled with dedicated practitioners of all ranks. During this past year of dealing with the challenges of Covid, Northampton Karate has gone above and beyond to keep our dojo intact and thriving: from classes on zoom to socially distanced, masked classes outside in all kinds of weather, I have been able to practice several times a week since March 2020. Love this place so much!

I have been a dedicated member of this dojo for over 12 years and have never experienced such a supportive and strong community of members from age 5 to 75+. In addition to that, the practice itself teaches physical, mental and spiritual strength second to none that can be carried into all aspects of ones life.
