Matt is an excellent personal trainer. From the onset, we talked about overall health journey and weight loss transformation goals with strength training. Matt knows his stuff. He builds on each session, ensuring progressive overloading and muscle strength, while keeping a calm and supportive demeanor all the time. I'm a 62 year old man. I recently retired from a desk job for 38 years of sitting. Exercise was not in my vocabulary. Since retiring I found that being out of shape is slowing me down. I looked for exercise classes for seniors, since I couldn't find anything that interested me. The last thing I ever thought of was a personal trainer. I thought that type of routine would be too much for me. Matt has been in the area for years and I had seen his name mentioned. I took a chance and went and met Matt all the while I was thinking can I do this. Matt made me feel welcomed and comfortable. He asked me the most important question, do you have any old or new injuries? I explained I had a couple back surgeries and he definitely took that into consideration. So far my back is great and getting used to my routine Matt created for me. If you think like I did, I'm old and exercise will irritate my old broken body. Matt gives me the inspiration to step out of my old man safety zone. It feels great to be out of my comfort zone and I actually enjoy the after workout aches and pains, which makes me feel good about myself.
Matt is very personable and knows his stuff. I noticed he keeps everyone working out in his vision, And if he notices us doing something wrong he will come over and correct me/us. I realize that if i did this on my own in a basement gym I would definitely be doing stuff that would
Injure me, I'm very self conscious and I don't feel that way with Matt or other people working out.
I would definitely tell people in my situation a personal trainer is a very good idea for mind and safety. I had no recommendations on a trainer going in and my choice of Matt was a great choice. I can't see anyone going wrong with Matt!

During the 6 week challenge, I lost 10 lbs. I like the format of the workouts because you come in, a list of exercises is written (Matt will demonstrate the ones you don’t know and recommend the appropriate weight), and once you complete 4 rounds of the list- you’re done. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable for pushing yourself. Most importantly, I gained the nutrition knowledge and confidence needed to achieve my goals. I’m glad I invested in myself and chose Optimal Fitness!

Couldn’t be more thankful for Matt - reviews like this one was the reason I originally reached out! I have had a few experiences w trainers and Matt is by far the most patient and professional of all. Matt is also very detail-oriented he pays attention to your form while also modifying the exercise to your abilities. He pushes you to attain the goals you have expressed you want, and does it in a very professional and motivating manner. Matt also keeps the sessions fresh, you are never bored. Optimal Fitness is great! Matt is by far the best trainer I have ever used. He works hard for his clients to help them exceed their goals. His classes are challenging and he is a great motivator. One of the things that I like the most about Matt is that you will really trust his knowledge and will never worry about being pressured into buy more sessions.
Matt honestly wants his clients to succeed and he will push you to do things you didn’t believe were possible. After two back to back pregnancies and serious thyroid problems, I gained a lot of weight. For the first time in five years, I am happy with the way I look!
