What started out as a reluctant google search turned into one of the best decisions and investments that I could make for myself. I was nervous about starting over with my fitness level and having to climb from the bottom back up (after all, I wasn't the super active young kid that I used to be). When I showed up for my first fitness evaluation, I knew I had fallen way behind in my fitness, and I had not worked out like that in years, but Jon never made me feel bad about where I was, and he has always been super supportive and has moved through my workouts at a pace and a routine that is designed specifically for me and my needs. Through constant communication between the two of us, he knows when to push to ignite my competitive side and when to throw in some extra encouragement. Since I've started with PFD, I have seen a huge improvement in my physical health and fitness and I have been able to get back into the things I love doing and boost my confidence to explore new activities.

Out of every sports performance place I know of, PFD was an easy choice to make due to its philosophy, flexibility, and opportunity. PFD prioritizes getting stronger everyday, both mentally and physically, but also focuses on making sure progression happens safely. PFD also provides extreme flexibility with my schedule, allowing me to manage school, life, sports, the gym, and recovery very efficiently. I also chose PFD because Shep’s knowledge, feedback, and attention to detail allow me to make the most out of my training. PFD is a diamond in the rough for athletes in South Shore MA

Jon let me shadow sessions at his facility in Middleborough for 3 months (January to April 2025) for Strength and Conditioning Coaching Experience.

From the many sessions I observed, I can say with absolute certainty that the level care and quality he provides to his athletes is a step above what you normally find from local/genpop strength trainers.

The athletes and people he worked with improved week after week in their workouts with clear provided progression. Jon's knowledge and application of sport specific training as well as goal-oriented programming depending on in and out of sport seasons is a level of consideration that is appreciated at all levels.

I truly believe that if you have a child that wants to improve their performance or you yourself want to train individually Jon is one of if not the best people to go to.

Every athlete I've seen him work with shows up excited to train and eager to work and that is byproduct of the training environment PFD has cultivated.

I cannot recommend working with Jon enough. If you're looking for results, he is the person who can help you get there!

For a year now my twelve year old has been training twice a week 1:1 with Jon Shepard at PFD Strength Training & Sports performance. My once timid, quiet, introvert daughter has come out of her shell, found a new confidence within and advocates for herself on and off the lacrosse field because of Jon. He’s incredibly professional but also entirely relatable in so many ways to his clientele. Our son has been training with Jon for 7 months now...and we couldn't be happier with his progress both mentally and physically. My son has been training with Coach Jon for about 2 years now; Signing up with PFD has been one of the best things we have done for our son. My son started training twice a week, as part of a group session, really enjoyed the variety & challenge coach put into the sessions, so we took on personal one-on-one sessions as well! Whether Jon is working with my son in an individual session or a group session he is committed to providing my son with the training he needs that suits him, to make him a better athlete and healthier, stronger version of himself!

Jon puts together a personalized and comprehensive workout plan for my sons unique goals AND he helps my son stay motivated and accountable while working with him. Jon is focused on helping my son achieve his goals! Jon makes it so my son is pushing himself harder throughout each session, gaining his strengths, and my son always looks forward to his workouts with Coach Jon. With his training, Coach ensures that my sons technique is always correct to avoid any injuries. His exercise routines are always planned in advance to work on specific areas and he even sends my son home with a worksheet to keep up with his workouts in between sessions. He makes my sons sessions challenging but rewarding and because of that my son stays committed!

Not only is he an amazing coach, he’s a mentor and such a huge part of my sons support system! I would recommend Coach Jon and his wife Emily to anyone looking to improve their fitness with a dedicated team of trainers.

My son is a high school sophomore who plays baseball and football.He’s been training with PFD for the last 7 months and the only regret I have is that he didn’t start sooner. My children (15 &13) have been training at PFD for over a year. My daughter began working with Jon to prepare for high school soccer and over the last year she has built muscle, increased endurance, agility and strength. My son has also seen huge gains in those areas as well. One of the things that I love most about Jon is that he not only builds programs to help your athlete meet their goals, but he also takes into consideration the best ways to keep your athlete healthy and to help prevent injury. My boys have been working with Jon at PFD for about 5 months. Both of my boy’s primary sport is baseball. Jon is absolutely the best, he is so knowledgeable in athlete training! Jon writes out new plans every 4 weeks based on what your child’s athletic needs are and customizes a program that your child will work on with him! I can’t say enough positive things about this program! Jon also has a great arm care program for athletes who are pitchers/catchers. Both my boys look forward to working out weekly! Jon goes above and beyond to not just train your child, he motivates them and encourages them! My kids are always laughing and look forward to their weekly conversations with him about their games and his games! We have seen huge improvements in both our boys in strength, speed and overall performance! Thankful for this amazing program!!!

My son has been working with Jon at PFD Strength Training for 7 months. He is learning proper weight training techniques and building upon them weekly. His strength and agility have greatly improved since working with Jon. The programs are built to best fit the athlete depending if they are in season or off season. Jon also writes up detailed home workouts to be followed on days my son doesn’t see him. Jon is extremely supportive of the athletes he trains. Both him and his wife made time to come see my son’s games. They truly take pride in the work that they do and care about their athletes on a personal level. I’ve been training with Jon for over a year now and couldn’t be happier! I started with in-person training sessions, but due to a busy work schedule had to switch to remote coaching which I love! Jon is still able to give me a custom program that is geared towards my goals, and I can easily complete at my gym. He always makes sure to check in and somehow still manages to challenge me from afar! I’m a physical therapist, so I especially appreciate Jon’s knowledge and his skill set geared towards athletic development. There’s nobody better!

I have been doing 1 on 1 strength training for several months at PFD and I seriously can not recommend them enough. Starting out with them a few months back, I had severe neck/shoulder tension, an old knee injury from sports in high school, as well as hip discomfort and pain that bothered me nearly everytime I worked out. Jon has shown me many different stretches, work outs and simple adjustments to my form that help my body heal from the discomfort I once felt and prevent it from ever coming back. I started with PFD to work towards my personal goal of gaining body strength, specifically my upper body, and I can honestly say I feel some kind of improvement weekly. I was nearly clueless how to begin improving my strength and had no idea what I was capable of doing prior to working with PFD, they are the people to work with if you are looking to improving in the gym!
