This gym is well maintained, but the customer service was not great. I was waiting for three employees at the front desk to finish chatting and snacking before they acknowledged me. I told them i had reserved a massage bed. They said that they do not honor reservations and that they operate on a first come first serve basis. Which makes no sense because i was instructed to make a reservation when i initially walked in.

Planet Fitness has truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment you walk in, the space is clean, well-organized, and welcoming — exactly what you want in a gym. The staff is always friendly and helpful, creating a non-intimidating environment that lives up to their “Judgement Free Zone” motto.

The equipment is plentiful and well-maintained, so I’ve never had to wait long for a machine, even during peak hours. Whether I’m doing cardio, strength training, or just stretching out in the spacious workout areas, everything I need is right there. The locker rooms are also spotless and secure, which makes a huge difference.

I also love the Black Card perks — especially the massage chairs and HydroMassage, which are perfect for winding down after a tough workout. For the price, value, and atmosphere, Planet Fitness is unbeatable. It’s a great place to stay consistent, get stronger, and feel good. Five stars all the way!

Just visited after many years without.coming to this location. I saw that they ki da renovated the place a bit and it seemed a bit more organized and clean. There is still a bit tomwork on in terms of CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OVERALL KEEPING THINGS NICELY PUT DOWNSTAIRS. I still see people walking around with bags in the workout area, weights all over the place ...but Inhave to give the gym some props because it is alot better than a few years ago. Also, the front desm giving information about membership to new potential clients is AWEFUL to what I experienced years ago. I was saddened to see how they didnt explain to these two hispanic women that the black card member ship allows you to visit any location but only 10 times per location/per month. Its still awedul to see how prople will come in and no greeting(some employees as I noticed) BUT AGAIN, its getting there. I know the struggles of this specific location. Its a real challenge...so, all and all. Its OK.

Really nice location with a lot of equipment, which is probably why it's so popular but there are some issues. The biggest problem for me is that it's just very dark and "damp" throughout the gym and the locker rooms. I'm not sure if it's the placement of the lights of the overall brightness of the bulbs, but you feel like you're in a cave. The PF at Central is also underground yet feels much brighter and cleaner, so I don't know what the issue is here

The other problem is that it's just a bit too cramped. I appreciate that they're trying to include as much equipment as possible, but you constantly feel like you're squeezing by other members and equipment.

On the plus, the staff is pretty nice and they do have a lot of equipment.

A few weeks ago, I left my bag in the lockers in the men's restroom. I went to work out, and when I came back, someone had stolen it. Fortunately, I didn't have anything of value, but I had my documents in there, like my passport, my ID, and my credit and debit cards. I immediately went to the police to report them and spoke to the manager to inform her about the situation. Two days after what happened, I was in the men's restroom when I saw a guy with my things in his locker, but since I had no proof other than what I'd seen, I couldn't complain or do anything about it. I reported it to the manager again to tell her what had happened, but she told me that without conclusive evidence, she couldn't do anything. It turns out that the same guy I saw with my things started texting me on Facebook, telling me he had my things and wanted a reward for them. He started threatening me, saying he would be the one to report me for asking for my documents and not giving him money in exchange. I approached the manager again to show her the messages and tell her to please block him from the gym because I didn't want to run into him and get in trouble. It turns out they didn't do anything about it, and I had to move out of the gym as if I were the one to blame for everything, and the guy continues training there as if nothing had happened. It's the worst customer service I've ever had. They never want to help me, even after I show them the evidence.

I'm writing to express a safety concern regarding loitering at the gym.

While the gym offers excellent, up to date weightlifting and cardio equipment. I've consistently observed individuals loitering for extended periods, regardless of the time of day. For example, there's a particular individual who frequently occupies one of the weightlifting rooms downstairs with numerous personal belongings, including a stuffed animal, bags and a phone charging station.

Approximately a week ago, I witnessed this same individual in a verbal altercation with a woman. He was yelling and screaming expletives, and although I'm unsure of the exact cause or if they knew each other, he charged towards her. Thankfully, another person intervened to de escalate the situation.

I returned to the gym after a week and observed the same individual still loitering during the evening/night. I find this situation concerning and it impacts my sense of safety at the facility.

My husband and I have a fitness membership through our insurance (Fitness Your Way/Tivity), which provides access to participating gyms across the country. These gyms must opt in to be part of the program.

We visited Planet Fitness in Boston after confirming that this location was listed as included in our membership. However, the manager refused to honor the membership and insisted the location was not part of the program—even after we showed her the address and listing of their gym location.

We had gone out of our way to visit this gym, and the situation could have been handled much more professionally. At the very least, we believe we should have been granted a one-time entry while their team looked into the issue to resolve for the future. Unfortunately, the interaction left a poor impression, and we felt the manager was not professional in how this situation was handled.

First time coming here (usually go to the one in Cambridge). Walked downstairs and it smelled like musty sweat. It was super crowded. Did the stair master (noticed dirt on the stairs) and tried to clean the machine afterwards. Counted about 4-5 dispensers consecutively that had no paper towels. What are the staff even doing? They were all standing around upstairs socializing/on their phone instead. Maybe go to a different PF location..

Don’t know why whoever is responding to the reviews is telling me to speak to management? Pretty sure you have enough negative feedback across the board to review and to manage your staff/club better.

I’m a Planet Fitness member and I refrain from attending this club because of the horrible reviews that it gets and the ridiculous responses from “management” on Google.

Almost every bad review has the exact same complaint! Filthy club, unmotivated staff, and cold showers. What’s the “management”’s response every time one of these reviews surfaces? “Go talk to the manager at the club.”

Does that make any sense? That a national corporation that has an online presence would get the same complaints for numerous CUSTOMERS and do nothing about the state of the club or staff?

Shame on Planet Fitness and the folks running this particular branch. There are no other locations in downtown Boston and they are taking advantage of that situation.

Not open 24/7, even tho it’s posted on google, Apple Maps and the planet fitness app open 24 hours. false advertising. don’t bother trying this location or you’ll end up standing outside a locked gym. go to the Cambridge location, they follow their posted hours.

Stood outside for 10 min and met 3 separate people who also showed up to work out at a gym that was not open. If this happened to 4 of us in 10 min, imagine how many times this happens every day.

They got a similar review 2 months ago, responded to it, and still haven’t changed their hours online.

Excellent gym. Lots of free weights and smith machines. I went twice on biz trip to Boston and found this location to be clean and stacked with well maintained machines. First floor was loaded with cardio machines. Highly recommend. Keep in mind I showed up around 830am-930am so can’t speak to off hours. Great job planet fitness!

Both row machines are broken. The tension wires catch at heavier weights, interrupting the workout. Told staff last week and both still don’t have signs on them or haven’t been repaired. Pec fly machine has been out of commission for weeks, same with the leg curl machine.

Not sure what the maintenance schedule looks like or if staff are trained on how to deal with reports about broken equipment (or even care given the looks I get when I politely explain the problem). Would be nice to get it done within at least a week but a sign with a date would be nice if quick fixes are beyond PF’s budget or there aren’t enough people around to repair equipment quickly.

I had a horrible experience I called and asked ahead of time if the gym would be open on Monday for 24 hours and they said yes. When I arrived I saw nothing but a locked door with nobody in it very frustrating I wasted money on an Uber going there and then I had to pay money to get back home and I didn’t even get to work out that is very frustrating. Definitivamente si quieres un buen lugar para entrenar en el centro de Boston este es el lugar, tiene 3 niveles que van hacia abajo y eso lo hace un lugar distinto,
En el primer piso, encontras la recepción y también el area para relajarse, les recomiendo utilizar esa area después de hacer ejercicio.
2o nivel hacia abajo, el area de cardio, todas las maquinas para correr, caminar, elíptica y una especie de escaleras, también el area de baños, personalmente siempre encontré limpio.
3er nivel de abajo, el area de pesas, hay variedad de maquinas para entrenar.
Comparado con otras sucursales personalmente preferí esta por la ubicación y por ser un espacio más amplio.

I live in Rhode Island and joined planet fitness online a while ago to go to planet fitness in Rhode Island. I have been trying to cancel my membership for months and this is the worst experience I have ever had. I have to drive an hour and a half to down town crossing in Boston (of which I have never been) just to cancel as they can not over the phone. This is by far the worst gym I’ve been to. The location is good, the equipment was recently renewed but the locker room is so unsafe and is not clean, lots of broken locker that had been forced. And there always a smell like sweat or something who knows what. I would never take a shower there. Filed a complaint against a gym member who was a male and threatened to beat me like a man. He repeated his threat to the employees who called the supervisor and sent him some for the day. I completed an incident deposit that day and no one followed up. Few weeks later I asked them what happened with the investigation. Zadya the supervisor stated we review the footage and didn’t see anything wrong (although they had employees statement to verify). After I inquired and the report I was sent an email stating my membership was being canceled for being “rude”. The email also stated there was a policy complying with this termination of membership, but they refused to provide it. Cooperate office said they’d be following up . Sexism is clearly still a thing. Women deserve to be safe

This gym needs more smith racks. If you plan on a smith rack it’s a 20 to 30 min line and keeps getting worse. There has been a new influx of gym seekers who will st on a smith rack for 30 min without care given for others patiently waiting. I am in search of a new gym. I’m a black card PF member for 2 years and I came with a friend and this review is based off of that experience.

I’ve been to around 7 different PF gyms at the time of this writing and I would say this location is one of the nicer ones. The biggest plus is the weight and strength machines as they had more relative to the ones iv been to and when I went, it wasn’t as busy as others, particular post New Years.

Unlike other PF gyms, it has less cardio machines which is a negative for me. I enjoy my cardio and is one of my main workouts. This may be the product of the location as there’s two floors at this PF but each floor is not as big as a stand alone PF.

For location, unless you like near the Commons, it’s rather inconvenient. Yea it’s near a T Stop, but I always hate being sweaty or post workout glow in public spaces so I would shower at this location.

The men’s locker room was a decent size. I think the amount of lockers is low relative to its size but I did like the showers

For what it is, this gym is fine. I like that it's open 24 hours and I can go in the very early morning before work. The only thing I don't like is that in the past 2 weeks, the (maximum) men's shower temperature has gone way down. I realize they are doing this so they will save on heat and water usage this Winter, but the temperature is too cold.

This was my first time going to a "24 hour "PF. I arrived 20 minute's before Monday began(Sunday:11:40am) my dumbaas apparently had too high of an expectation for PF staff.. I waited for over an hour! Going into Monday! I tried calling, double checking site hours, even the door says 24/FIVE. But as I went after work I waited and waited I tried being extra patient. NO ONE SHOWED UP. The doors were chained and locked. I'm writing this now(2am) in a damn uber because all the trains are down. Now I'm contemplating to cancel this membership I can't even get the bare minimum of a 24 hour PF as it's the only one in Boston

Very nice Downtown gym. Layout a little convoluted as it spans 2 basement levels of an old building. More signage would help. Hint: Cardio one flight down. Along with locker rooms and water. Two Flights down: weight room and everything else.

Overall this planet fitness is really good. I see lots of reviews saying dirty bathroom bad equipment and overcharged memberships/fraud and gotta say I’ve never had any of these experiences here. You kno you get what you pay for this is a standard planet fitness in terms of smelly bathrooms (cuz most of them are) and equipment is fine, typical equipt. Only reason I gave 4 stars is cuz there hours keep changing and they are wayyy to strict about letting ppl in without a black card and diff home location gym. I even offered to pay the 5.00 fee to use and they’re like no you can’t do that cuz ur already a member that’s only for prospective members. That makes no sense and again way too strict. So that’s all. But everything else is fine bathroom are standard equipment standard gone here for years don’t listen to the other reviews in regards to that stuff

As a Black card member who’s travelled to multiple PFs in different states, this is by far one of the FILTHIEST toilet & bathroom locations, alongside multiple broken machines — repeatedly the same 6-8. Doesn’t even seem they’re bothering to fix a few of them (as it’s been weeks they’re not working). The tops and undersides of toilet always have dried feces on them and during peak hours, no one cleans it the entire 2hrs I’ll be at gym. Peak hours should be coming in ever 15-30 mins for spot cleanups, given how dirty it gets. I do see them do this on the gym floor — but not the bathrooms which need it.

I see this as a repeat review for this location. They’ll do something to fix it once, but maintaining things is an issue. Even if you inform staff of specific issues some days — to prevent more problems — they just look and say they’re aware (then do nothing to fix it) — eg. clogged toilets. Making it worse when someone goes to flush.

Fix the problem at the source & retrain + monitor your staff by reinforcing a system to do it. Half the time they’re chilling and doing nothing.

On tuesday July 13 at 11:00PM, i finished my worked and come in to work out but I did not see any staff at front desk and I did not know I can do the scan by myself without the staff there. So I just start to go down the stair to work out and a guy come up ask me did I scan yet. I show him my bar code and ask do you want me to scan with the thought that he wont mind since he see my bar code. But he then show me his attitude and rude way by asking stupid question that when you go home you need a key ? So I pay the money to get the lecture and treat the customer this way ? He can just say no you still have to scan it. Please double check this guy, he is complete different with others staff I meet in the morning.

Says 24 hours but the morning guys will sit in the back getting buzzed and leave you outside with the door locked. Super cool being a woman by herself and watching the guy come to the door laughing and say 5 minutes then leave you out there for 20.. twice. Super disrespectful and rude. I drive extra for this one because it's 24 hours, guess not.

Its has a wide variety of cardio machines, and training machines but my only complaint is that there are not enough dumbells for the amount of people that go in to the gym. Most were taken and you gotta make due with what you can find. Please add a lot more.

I really want new machines that won't break so often. Specifically in the glute area, and chest press machine. Stop fixing them and just buy a new one Is what trying to say.

The dingiest of 6 different Planet Fitness gyms I’ve been to across the country. Nearly all the equipment needs maintenance or replacement. The rubber shell on the plates is crumbling off, the pleather on all the benches is cracked and flaking off, the dumbbells and EZ curl bars are all loose, the AC ducts drip water on the floor. On top of this, it seems no one here re-racks their weights.

Not specific to this location, but PF in general has the most antiquated cancellation policy, presumably to make it so inconvenient to cancel that you just put it off. You have to visit your “home club” to sign a form in person, or literally mail a wet signature through USPS to cancel.

The employees are all very nice and they care about members having good experiences at this gym. Employees are constantly cleaning. This location is pretty busy but they are on top of it. As soon as something needs to be done, they do it.
