The gym itself is great. I love the equipment and the staff is always friendly. The main thing that has made PF stand above all other gyms is their commitment to a Judgment Free Zone and No Intimidation. That is now severely lacking and only getting worse.

Every single time I go to this gym there are always multiple people loudly talking on their phones out on the gym floor, sometimes for 30-40 Minutes. Many times these people will have the other person on speaker phone. Is this not against club rules and inconsiderate to others?

Last weekend I watched two women gather 14 individual weights to use for their workout. At times other people would ask to use some of the weights, but the women would say they were using them. Isn’t this against club rules and inconsiderate of others?

There’s a specific gentleman that shouts loudly “HUP!” on every single rep and frequently slams his weights. He intimidates anybody around him. Isn’t this against club rules and inconsiderate of others?

Every time I attend this gym there’s always at least one person playing music loudly on their phones or sometimes they’ll be watching media. With the gym music on the speakers and then others playing their own music at the same time, as you can imagine, it’s extremely distracting and annoying. Isn’t this against club rules and inconsiderate to others?

Frequently I have witnessed gym members literally singing out loud while they work out. Isn’t this against club rules and inconsiderate to others?

I frequently observe members carrying gallon jugs of water and large duffle bags out on the gym floor. I remember the PF commercials addressing this very issue with their No Lunks campaign. Isn’t this still against club rules?

I frequently observe members working out in work boots, slides, sandals or even barefoot. Isn’t this against club rules?

There’s a group of men that I see on a regular basis that always gather around a squat rack for bench pressing. They are always extremely loud, slam weights and freely swear. Sometimes they have vulgar conversations about women. You can see that it bothers and intimidates everyone around them. Isn’t this against club rules and inconsiderate to others?

About a month ago I actually had to ask a middle aged woman to stop loudly farting in the stretching room area. It’s absolutely ridiculous, but she just wouldn’t stop. Like what are we doing here? How bad does it have to get?

Can we just respect each other and follow the basic gym rules?

I would highly recommend a recommitment to LONG STANDING gym rules and proper etiquette. I think there needs to be more signs throughout the gym reinforcing rules and a staff that backs them up. These signs need to be in Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese and Mandarin as well as English due to the vast diversity of the members.

I believe that there’s a mutually beneficial solution to this issue where EVERYONE can workout at Planet Fitness FREE from LUNKS, INTIMIDATION and SELFISH INDIVIDUALS again.

But if this trend continues this gym will gain a poor reputation and members like myself will go somewhere else.

Gym is fine but its Sunday morning at 8am supposed to open at 7 and its not open. This has happened several times. If you're not going to be open make a post on social media at least to let us know so we dont waste an hour of our day waiting for someone to show up that never will.

This planet fitness is a good place to go work out if you like being left alone. The people aren’t always friendly, and mostly mind their own business, as it is a judgement free zone. However, people will frequently use machines in harmful ways, and nobody confronts them due to not wanting to judge them. In addition, the ratio of weight machines to cardio machines is well lopsided, with there being two cardio machines per workout machine. The selection of machines is good, but as someone who prefers lifting to cardio, it’s hard to find the machines I want open due to the lack of each machine (the most of the same machines they have is two). It’s a good gym and has everything, but the people and the lack of weight machines aren’t what I want in a gym.

I love Planet Fitness, and the Dedham location is my absolute favorite. Plenty of room, clean, really well maintained, and all the machines you could possibly want, and they're all in great condition. Gets a little crowded around dinner, but it's still workable, and the vibe is always great. Just a phenomenal gym at any price, and unbeatable at the PF price. I couldn't recommend this gym more highly.

They keep billing you when your membership is properly frozen for 3 months & refuse to reimburse the wrongful billing. Said they couldn't refund the money but would comp the next 3 months for free with active membership but have attempted to keep billing me. Treadmills are dirty with sticky and oily residue on console 7 cupholders. Also the TV channels on the treadmill monitor don't correspond to/match the station up on the TVs & there is no volume for some stations. Front is aware of this for it's been the same for 1.5 years now. Gone downhill since the makeover. It was great before & should have been left the way it was. The stretching area was removed and is now gone since the makeover. Eliminated the stretching area that was there before.

I love how this facility is accessible everything is on one level. Someone like me with physical challenges it was super important to find a gym that has all of their equipment in one level. They even have an accessible shower with a shower Chair. I'll definitely recommend this Gym for anyone who's looking for an accessible gym!

PS: They have 2 handicap spot right in front of the gym; however I wished they had 2 handicap parking signs in front of them. Unfortunately, they only have 1 Blue sign & people who are able bodies always parked in the other spot without the blue handicap marker sign. I complained to the Manager about it and they said that they would looking into it. But, it has been a year since I raised my concern about it and nothing has been done to resolve it.

Hadn't gone to the gym in over 6 months since I couldn't find time & when I finally made it in there, since you have to go in person to cancel, the manager informed me that they were still going to charge me an additional month since I didn't cancel within 7 days of my billing date. Ridiculous but not going to make a huge issue over $10. The gym itself is typical of a PF. Don't expect any employees to show genuine interest in helping you achieve fitness goals and one absolute DISGUSTING issue I've witnessed here on every occasion is people getting off machines & not wiping them off. Staff does nothing about it. I recommend that you ALWAYS wipe a machine off BEFORE you use it.

Not bad. It's one of the older facilities, the men's room could use updating and cleaning. Unfortunately, too many "hogs" that takes a machine all to themselves. I got my workout. I prefer the one in Norwood over this one.

Update: 11/19. Remodeled and it looks great. Shower is awful. Warm water, turns cold and back to warm. Unpredictable and unreliable.

Update: 12/15. This place is now Gold’s Gym (jokingly). Honestly, it should be called that. Idiots here are now dropping weights, occupying machines and doing group sets. This atmosphere does not follow the PF philosophy and has become increasingly irritating to come here. Workers don’t interfere so it’s a welcomed behavior. I’ve been going Norwood instead of here.

Planet Fitness Dedham has given up cleaning. There is 3-4 employees standing at any one time. Never seen anyone clean a machine or the floor. Meanwhile there are public service announcements every 20 minutes asking members to be “cleansiderate” at the “clean thumb club”. Planet Fitness membership is a trap and scam with terrible customer support. They sign up young people to join a gym at $10 a month, plus an additional $40 dollar annual charge, and then they only let you cancel by showing up in person. So if you move, or don't have access to car, you can't call or cancel in person at your local Planet Fitness. Then even if you don't come to the gym for 4 years, not only will they continue to charge $10/month plus an additional $40 annual fee... They won't even refund the current month. My son had to pay $49 to cancel his membership. When asked if Planet Fitness Dedham, MA would just cancel the membership without the annual charge for next year, on my son's account that hasn't been used for years, the manager, Kevin Bruno, explained, that even though this is a separate franchise, they couldn't make any concessions, despite a situation of financial hardship. He literally said: "Consider this a good thing, this is a life lesson to read all the terms and conditions before signing a contract." Please join another gym or fitness club, one that cares about it's members and has policies that allow managers to provide customer support, not this greedy corporation that scams its members into endless charges and fees until you show up in person only to be forced to pay more charges and fees just to cancel your membership!

I am under the impression that the showers in men room are not cleaned regularly. The curtains contain mold and when you step into the shower, the floor is slippery with a horrid smell. I recommend that you guys send someone to clean showers regularly throughout the day otherwise this is a recipe for us to get bacterial infections or even disease. This is yet another reason I cannot upgrade to a blackcard. Also it's better if all shower rooms have curtains to prevent that multiple people use a single shower room which reduces hygiene...otherwise the gym itself is great

Disappointed Customer Service Experience!
I recently visited the Planet Fitness location in Dedham, MA, and encountered extremely disrespectful behavior from a night shift staff member. Despite my polite inquiry, the representative responded confrontationally, using profanity and ultimately ejecting me from the premises. This incident contradicts the values of inclusivity and respect associated with Planet Fitness. Disappointing experience overall.

By far the worst gym you could ever workout at. Where do I begin? So much has happened in such little time. This gym and management is RACIST AS HELL!! I’ve spoken with Tracy, the regional manager. She was lovely and understanding about my money situation. But Gina, the no lip supervisor and her minions at the front desk are very racist and disrespectful. I told Gina that I would pay my membership soon. When I was getting around to it. She proceeded to hold the elliptical machine while I was on it. To prevent me from working out. I told her I was almost done. That she should be patient and just let me finish this one machine. I have asthma, so her ATTACKING me did not help. And could’ve resulted me into have an asthma attack. Which she WOULD be LIABLE for. I proceeded to get out my phone and start recording for my safety. Because she was acting insane and dangerous. She tried to hit me and tried to snatch my phone. I was appalled at the disrespect, no manager should be acting like this towards a member of the gym. I proceeded to go to the desk to pay. Gina wasn’t having none of it. Gina’s racist self, said she will call the cops on me if I pay my membership. And that she will cancel if I make a new account and pay the membership fee. And in what way does this make sense ? But that’s what she did, she called the police because I paid my membership fee. Gina is no way shape or form or fit to be a manager of this establishment. A manager should not be racist, discriminate against, or alienate a gym member. Planet fitness apparently stands for a “judgement free zone”. Well I was getting the opposite treatment of that slogan.
If I was any other race she wouldn’t have called the cops about not paying a membership fee on time.
Do yourself a favor and run as far way from this PF location. Choose another PF location, this location is full of mistreatment and racism!!
I’m really disappointed in this establishment and will be spending my money at a gym that treats people of color better.

Not impressed. I tried to open a new membership and found that the employees either didn’t know how to, or were not interested in completing the task. They pointed at a computer tablet suggesting I enter my own data and create my own membership. Of course their tablet’s software doesn’t work either as it keeps crashing and deletes all info. The Employees shrugged and suggested I try to join online from home.

If this is the service new customers should expect then what service would members receive?

Also, Why should customers enter all their personal information including their bank account numbers and bank routing numbers into a software program that the employees don’t know how to operate and that doesn’t even function properly?

Update 1/6/2023

The facility was completely renovated and expanded as of October 2022. All the equipment was replaced with brand new equipment. The gym looks beautiful. There is now more as well as new workout apparatus for cardio and strength training. One can certainly get a well rounded workout at this location.

I have raised my score from 2 to 3 stars based only on the facility upgrades. The gym upkeep remains and issue, which is too bad given the huge amount invested on the remodel.

This gym in Dedham, MA has taken a turn for the worse - the paper towel dispensers around the gym are often empty or broken. The sanitation stations they brag about so much on their commercials are often empty, you'll eventually find one that is half filled, but you'll have to walk around.... And the men's room is disgusting. Even without a mask mandate, you better keep it on because of the smell. You can see crud around the urinals, a sign that the rest rooms are not thoroughly clean each day. Sad....

When I posted the review below, gyms where starting to open up and you could tell that staff members were doing their best to keep everything clean. I don't feel this is the case anymore. This weekend for example, there must've been 4-5 staff members lingering at the front counter shooting the breeze while several cleaning stations where out of wiping towels, wiping spray bottles remained empty and hand sanitizers stations also remained empty. Not once did i see a staff member going around doing any cleaning or replenishing anything. Gym patrons should be provided with all essentials to help mitigate the spread of germs, pandemic or not. The conditions witnessed today are simply not acceptable. 👎

Kudos to Planet Fitness for handling the reopening of the gym with the comfort of members in mind while adhering to safety protocols. Yes, equipment is limited, but I'm willing to accept social distancing while working out instead of a total disregard for safety. Or worse yet, not having a place to work out.

this is the nicest gym itv’s been to. really spacious, friendly staff and a lot of machines. they have a lot of stretching equipment and machines. the looker rooms are clean, and so are the showers. the mirrors have really bright lighting. sadly they only have air dryers and no paper towels to dry your hands. i like that there is a designated ab/ stretch area so that’s you’re not in the way of people using machines. and since it is located in a shopping center there’s always free parking.

Location is actually great, I’ve gone with a friend a few times. I went today to join. The front desk couldn’t explain prorated fees to sign up. Also planet fitness now wants members bank account information. I am definitely not comfortable with that at all. I’ve had a terrible experience with WOW over charging me and doing crazy stuff. I just joined here and I think it is a bare minimum place to workout and get done what you need. There is a ton of cardio machine and a bunch of regular isolation machines. The staff are very friendly, and the facility is generally pretty clean. I wish they would add a few more peices of equipment, for example maybe a rowing machine, an unassisted bench or squat rack. The Smith Machine works, but isn't optimal. They could also benefit from replacing some equipment, like trx bands, etc. To make room for the added machines they could probably get rid of some of the cardio equipment on the end, because most of the time only about 70% are being used at once during peak hours. Unfortunately this isn't the largest of gyms, and I doubt any real upgrades will be made, but for $10 a month can you really complain 🤗

This is the dirtiest gym I have been in Massachusetts, the showers are so dirty that the water gets stock, the lockers room are always dirty.

Costumer service it’s terrible, for the last two months I have told several times to different members of the staff that the Women’s showers does not have hot running water, and they don’t even apologize for the inconvenience.

Overall one of the worst costumer services I have ever experienced.

Ps, I even went to Planet fitness website to put the complain and didn’t get a response.

I love it here! It's perfect. No crazy loud music so I don't have to crank my headphones up. No crazy steroid guys and no loud grunting. Nice clean gym, friendly people at the front desk and friendly people that workout there. Who could ask for more?
