If I can give zero stars, I would. This location is so unprofessional and inefficient when it comes to customer satisfaction. Not only have I been trying to call for two weeks to switch my home gym, but when I do, I get hung up on. One time, the guy that picked up the phone said that I was calling the Woburn location when I know for a fact I searched up Planet Fitness in Malden. I do not recommend going to this gym either way, really small, never got greeted when coming in and it smells. I even asked a worker from a different planet fitness location to call and no answer. Either fire your staff, get better phones or i dont know at this point. THATS WHY IM TRANSFERRING HOME CLUBS!! As a result, I had to cancel my membership and now I have to wait until it is over to sign up once again at a better gym. Again, let me repeat DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION. POOR SERVICE, UNSANITARY, UNPROFESSIONAL, LOCKER ROOMS ARE DIRTY, SHOULD I KEEP GOING? No point in writing more

I recently visited this Planet Fitness location and was disappointed with the overall experience. The facility appeared to be dirty and had a strong unpleasant odor. Additionally, I noticed several pieces of equipment that were out of order, which detracted from my workout. Unfortunately, this location did not meet my expectations.

The gym is good.
However, it has few machines compared to other Planet Fitness companies. Many machines are old and rusty, making it difficult to perform exercises. I believe it needs renovation and needs to be updated with more machines, such as the 45-degree leg press.

Gym is maintained poorly - crappy old machines, many of which are falling apart/taped off and take forever to get fixed. Staff too lazy to replace paper towels in mens room. Soap is often empty too which is disgusting. Pieces of gum wadded up in their wrapper left in treadmill cupholders. overcrowded with insufficient equipment, expect to wait for a while between every set.

I have been to many PF clubs across the US. This is not only the smallest, but also the least kept. The machines are old and always broke. The tanning beds (especially #3) are in horrible condition. There are more bulbs out than are working. Half the time there isn't paper towels in the dispensers. Just unacceptable. Is there a GM?
I have mentioned more than 5 times about the bulbs. They still have bed 3 open and are using without replacing. Just don't get it ...this doesn't meet PF standards from my experience ...ty.

This PF needs serious upgrades to their worn down machines and a better mirror/bench system. Ive been here one other time, years ago, and noticed the worn out or even broken cushioning machines…and they were still here today! The only nice thing about this gym is the cardio machines and the bathrooms. Other than that..way too small; they should be embarrassed of letting the people of Malden down like this they deserve better with unbroken machines especially in front of our nice police station. Good area but needs serious improvements and more mirror space so your butt isn’t in front of someones face if you need the mirror not for bench! >:( I deadasss went here then drove to Danvers to use their spacious and unbroken gym. I wont be back for a couple more years and let yall know if it has improved.

1. Some of the machine aren’t stable when you pull or push, like back machine and the chest machine, I fear ppl who do high weighted sets are at risk of injury

If you're in the market for a gym that specializes in frustration and incompetence, look no further than Planet Fitness – It's been nearly two weeks of banging my head against the wall, trying to get some semblance of help from both Danvers and Malden locations. I've called each club more times than I can count, and what do I have to show for it? Nothing but frustration and a sinking feeling of regret.

Picture this: You sign up, excited to hit the gym, only to find out their app has a mind of its own and assigns you to the location furthest from your home. No biggie, right? Wrong. When you try to fix it, both Danvers and Malden pass the buck faster than a hot potato.

You'd think a simple transfer between two branches wouldn't require a degree in rocket science, but apparently, it's beyond the capabilities of the staff at either location. And don't even get me started on Manager Silvia – her attitude made me feel like I was begging for a favor instead of trying to resolve an issue caused by their own system.

After countless calls and zero progress, I reached out to customer service for a glimmer of hope. Spoiler alert: there was none.

But wait, it gets better. When I dared to call again for assistance, I got hung up on.

And the cherry on top? When I finally mustered up the courage to ask for a refund – because let's face it, they had wasted enough of my time and energy – they had the audacity to tell me they would cancel my membership instead. How's that for customer service? Cancelling my membership for being the problem? I don't think so.
But hey, the latest update is that I'll supposedly be getting a refund in a few business days. So, let's wait and see if they can actually deliver on that promise. I'm not holding my breath.
Sorry, Planet Fitness, It's my right to get my money back for not even being able to make it through your doors.

So, if you enjoy the thrill of being passed around like a hot potato, by all means, give Planet Fitness a try. But if you value your time, sanity, and dignity, do yourself a favor and find a gym that actually knows the meaning of customer service.

I’ve been a member for several years. I used to love this gym despite its negatives it still has what I need, HOWEVER; as of recent I have had an issue with an employee, the one who was working today at 830 am. Normally at that time a woman is working and she’s great! This man has only been there working a couple times that I have been there. I’m sure fellow gym goers understand how IMPORTANT their routines are and how beneficial they are to their lives when gone as planned. MY routines have NOT gone as planned twice now due to this employee. I tan everytime I go and nobody cleans the tanning beds by the way, if anyone is wondering. Well, I do before and after use but if a member isn’t cleaning that bed after they use it you BETTER believe that nobody is. I contracted Mercia from this gym. You can witness this by sitting in there for an hour on any day, now I NEVER complained about that before, because as I said above everything else USUALLY goes well. I was asked for eye wear one time when I signed up and never again and I go atleast 3 times a week. Now I’m not sure about anyone else but I don’t just carry eye wear around for no reason. I went to the gym a few weeks back in the rain and was randomly asked for eye wear by this employee I speak of. I explained how I didn’t have eye wear because I was never asked before and it’s been several YEARS 👀. I ask if I can pay for eye wear on my next visit? He says no. I explain that I live 45 mins away and it’s raining. I ask if he can charge my card that he OBVIOUSLY has on file for the eye wear, he says no. I leave, walk home and back in the rain to go tanning because I had a function to go to the next day. I didn’t work out because I had to walk an extra 90 mins that day because of this. I woke up the next day sick, shocker… I chalked it up as my own fault as I know how anemonia is contracted. 🙄. This a.m I walk in and low and behold this man is working again. I don’t have eye wear because it’s been atleast 4 WEEKS since last time, I have been to the gym atleast 15 times since then and was never asked for eye wear. You need to either ask for eye wear or not or else your CUSTOMERS will not be prepared. Obviously! So today I started to cry, I asked him to please let me pay him for the eye wear tomorrow he said no. The eye wear cost ONE DOLLAR by the way, but I guess SEVERAL years worth of being a LOYAL member isn’t worth ONE DOLLAR 👀. I figured it was worth a shot and after 15 mins I asked him to explain to my WHY EXACTLY that he couldn’t charge my card for the eye wear? He wasn’t able to explain why and THEN he SUCCESSFULLY charged my card for the ONE DOLLAR eye wear after me begging for 15 minutes. So you mean to tell me that I walked for NINETY minutes last time over ONE DOLLAR That he absolutely COULD have charged my card but lied and said he could not?!!? I literally asked him why he was so inhumane especially at a time when the world is so evil and humanity should be sticking together?! I have met enployees on power trips before like this and it’s so ridiculous. He isn’t getting paid more for not helping me?! He wouldn’t have gotten paid less forrrr helping me?! If anything it would be the opposite so he literally did all of this because he isn’t a good person or he’s taking his problems out on PLANET FITNESS’ PAYING CUSTOMERS ! Unreal!!!!!

The gym is okay. I’m leaving another review because I heard the price is increasing I’m not sure if this is true or not. I’m not complaining about the price.

My only gripe is how the men monopolize the bench press. They use the bench press AND the cable machines and you wait longer so they are monopolizing two spaces which I don’t think is fair. They could be gone from the bench press for 10-15 minutes doing other workouts and I don’t see how that’s okay.

Most also don’t put their weights back.

There’s also weights missing that are never put back.

Anyway, I wish the staff would do something about it.

But I guess you get what you pay for right?

The gym is simple and has everything that I need. When it’s busy you might wait a little longer for the weights. The staff is okay. Overall for the price and amenities I am happy with a gym that is nearby. The reason for the 3 stars is as followed below:

On August 12th the place was supposed to open at 7 am and there were a bunch of people waiting. Most left at 7:25. Since I walked here being met with this unexpected surprise and having no one to talk to was quite disappointing.

I spoke with someone who said this is a regular thing. This was my first experience with this.

I hope someone does something about it or compensates those who were inconvenienced including me. Most people have a small window to get their workout in.

Planet Fitness Malden, MA recently illegally debited my credit/debit card for 49.00$ that I did not owe them. I had to argue with the staff and manager about the illegal withdrawal and so did my bank. I have to cancel my Planet Fitness gym membership to prevent future illegal withdrawals on my bank account.

I tried this planet fitness out because it was close to work. Usually I go to the dorchester location. What a difference, I don’t know who manages this facility but it definitely is not up to par in terms of cleanliness and replenishment of supplies. The bathroom was filthy and the only water fountain was clogged due to the filter not being changed. I asked the staff to replace the filter 3 times and eventually he gave me a free bottle of water from the fridge.
My suggestion would be to get Mike Leonard the manager from Dorchester, to come and straighten this place out. He seems to run a tighter ship and hires good people that care about the clients experience. Thank you

It’s solid for planet fitness standards. I will say it has become VERY busy over the past year. Often times the smith machines and weight benches are completely full with multiple people waiting. Gym is small for a Planet Fitness and lacks equipment. Why is there only one pull up bar in a gym? Why is there no standard leg press? I use to ride my electric scooter there a few times a week and park it next to a wall in the lobby, charging at an outlet while I workout; a new manager recently started working there and she tells me that I can’t have my scooter there. I’ve been coming here and on the same routine for 2 years. I’m not the only person either. I found this aggravating and at that moment I made her transfer my home gym to the Medford location. Much more equipment, space, and nobody complaining when there’s nothing to complain about.

I have the black card membership. I travel back-and-forth from Baltimore Maryland to New England and I go and visit a few of the gyms during my travels. The Malden location is one of the most disgusting gross gym I have ever been in my entire life. I was just there the other day And when I went to the bathroom it wasn’t clean disgusting. So I walked into the gym part to work out and it seems like everyone’s waiting for a machine because they only have one of everything they have. So people are waiting wasting time. The gym is extremely bright.The lights in that gym is ridiculous, Plus the gym is very tiny and definitely has an odor to it. The manager should be fired and let go because it hasn’t been clean in a long time by the looks of it. I think I walked in and walked out within five minutes. I felt like I needed to go to the doctors and get a rabies shot

There needs to be better supervision of employees. Gym was locked on Sunday at 7am on July 17th and members complain frequently of this happening where an employee just doesn't show up to open the gym. Whether it be on Sundays or Friday/Saturday. Been here for 20 minutes just sitting here. Pathetic. Managers should call the gym on Friday/Saturday/Sunday to make sure it's open or fire the employee scheduled, this is unacceptable.

Planet fitness is a trend maker for cheap gyms. Monthly membership starts around $10 for a local club or around $30 for all club + privileges like unlimited free guest, hydro massage, tanning booth.

This location in malden is a bit ghetto but it has the basics amenities: lots of cardio, a 30 min workout circuit...and it's open late.

Lockers ears were mostly broken so you couldn't put.a lock at all, layout was awkward and the parking lot entrance or exit will scrape the bottom of your car.

I purchase the card specifically because of the location flexibility. However, this club dictates you have to tan on nunberoud occasions before they'll allow you anything more than 3 minutes.

I went to the gym on 03/20/22 to cancel my registration and presented my passport to the receptionist. The receptionist issued a cancellation agreement from another customer and charged me a $59 fee. As soon as I received the cancellation receipt I informed him that the contract was not mine because the customer's name was different. He kept talking to the manager to get my refund and he didn't get back to me. I had to go back to the gym and explain the case again to the receptionists who took my phone number and said the manager would text me to inform about the refund. Again I went to the gym and was told that it was not possible to speak with the general manager because he was hospitalized. My question is, how long will I have to wait for a refund for a contract that wasn't mine?

The club is clean and organized but it doesn’t have a lot of equipment.. a serious low body workout is almost impossible to be done .
Rush hours forget about that. Lots of cardio equipment tho.

It's a nice Gym if you want to do basic stuff, more options for cardio than the rest, but it's still a good place.

They have varieties of good walking out equipment. staff very polite, willing and ready to assist with any issues. Good car park. I have experienced any unpleasant situation though I just started going there newly.

Friendly staff but that’s about all this PF location has going for it. It’s a VERY small location and not well maintained. The water fountain has not been working and spilling all over the floor for the past month. There’s apparently no heating here either - people are working out with jackets on. If I didn’t have the black card to go to another location this PF would 100% not be worth the membership.

Clean facility with a good variety of equipment to work with and a supportive staff and fellow club members. The gym membership is extremely low which makes PF that much more attractive.

Reading has more space and better equipment. Woburn had way better hours but just cut back due to staffing issues
