I requested cancellation of my membership on Oct 22 in person at Planet Medford. The staff told me it was cancelled and I won't be charged further. But the staff didn't give me any receipt or printed proof. Now they charge my checking account again for Nov subscription on Nov-17. And more absurd is that they also charge my credit card for late payment with a $20 penalty. So their scam works in this way: ask you to cancel in person; and tell you all set but does not stop bleeding you after cancellation!

Kevin the assistant manager is weird. He followed me in the men’s locker waited for me to get undressed to then approach me and ask me questions about my membership. Not professional at all to invade someone’s privacy while in the locker room to ask about anything especially while undressing. It made me feel uncomfortable and when I brought it up to the manager Rob he had an attitude and didn’t even bother to figure out what happened.

Terrible customer service and support The manager Rob and assistant manager Kevin are not professional and try to avoid helping if you have an issue. They’re lazy and not productive, It seems like the most unsanitary location like they don’t take their time to clean up. Instead, the men’s locker was so filthy it was infested with flees and I managed to get a picture of a roach. The handicapped accessible shower and the shower next to it is where I saw the flees so if you go there I recommend not to bring your belongings or just go to another location save you the trouble without risk.

I’ve been a member at Planet Fitness since February 2021, and I’m beyond disappointed, hurt, and livid at how unsafe this location has made me feel — not once, but three separate times.
I have been recorded and followed by male members inside the gym on three occasions, and each time I reported it, nothing was ever done. The most recent incident left me completely terrified to even walk to my car. I felt stalked and unsafe, and the staff response has been passive and dismissive every time. There has been no follow-up, no accountability, and no visible action to protect me or prevent this from happening again.
If you're a woman — or anyone who values feeling safe in your gym — please reconsider before signing up here. You deserve better than what Planet Fitness has shown me.

Been to a lot of planet fitnesses across the country. This is the only one I’ve ever been to where there is only 1 singular weight machine for every exercise (except the fly machine). One leg press, one leg extension, etc.. Kinda insane and makes it extremely difficult to complete a workout in a timely fashion. Was also very busy at an off peak time. It’s not a small planet fitnesses either which makes it confusing why there are so few machines. Thankfully was only passing through and this isn’t my home gym.

One positive is this is the only planet fitness I’ve seen with non-smith machine barbells racks.

This gym is perfect for my current situation. I did feel a little displaced when they closed for a few weeks but the renovations were worth it!!!! Especially since the made it 24 hours!! I will say that If the idea was ever on the table, I fully support them taking music out of the female locker room and just having a voice over on repeat with the words “Attention Ladies, please leave you dirty, nasty, trifling habits at the door with your ego! There is no reason you can’t clean up your feminine products( used / wrappers) shampoo bottles, dirty panties, makeup, layers of hair & clothing tags from your new outfits when you’re done using the facilities!!! Do better!” I honestly feel sorry that the employees have to clean this disgusting crap up! Other than that, the gym is amazing 🤩

UPDATED REVIEW: I loved and I mean LOVED this gym before the renovation. It was a new happy place. There were so many machines arranged in a really fantastic and easy to understand way. After the reno, so many machines are missing and not going to come back apparently. There used to be 4 thigh/glutes machines in a corner that were constantly in use non stop any time of day. They reduced them down to 2... why??? Now its so hard to get to use them. The machines aren't organized in order of body part any more which was super handy to understand where everything was. It sucks big time now and it makes me not want to come any more. Ive asked the managers if the owner plans to improve but apparently they aren't going to. Im so sad, this is no longer a happy place.

Have been going to this gym for four years and had no complaints - until now. They removed all of the high-quality LifeFitness treadmills and replaced them with cheap, low-quality Matrix treadmills. Matrix treadmills are built with an incline you can't adjust, and there is little to no shock absorption, which makes running and walking substantially harder. This is not my personal experience - there are hundreds of online reviews of these treadmills and Matrix themselves have confirmed this. It is heavily disappointing that Planet Fitness and the Medford location would choose horrible machines in favor of higher profits. It is furthermore disappointing that they would do this in a city with such a high population of runners and walkers. I was a near daily visitor of the gym, but will have to find a new one now.

The overall fitness center is not as bad although VERY CROWDED and busy even at like 1 pm in afternoon on a weekday. The communication is horrible. First up they went into reconstruction with NO estimates and timelines of when it will be back for use.

Additionally they offered classic members that we could use facilities which are at-least 30-40mins drive away from the current location (No sense of compensation) , if anything i would expect a PF location at-least in 10 - 15 mins range.

3rd There's no way to reach out and contact them. Everytime you call medford facility it gets redirected to some other location. No membership pause/refund has been provided yet so far. Thank you but no thanks. I am going to be stopping all the memberships in our household.

Gym was totally fine until they decided to close for renovations and didn't tell anyone for how long. They had signs posted in the gym saying the gym would be closed on May 17th for renovations, making it sound like it would be for one day. The gym has been closed for two weeks now and looks like it could be closed for another month. Or it could be for two months but no one knows because they won't say. The staff could easily tell us how long it will be closed for...but they won't. There is no one answer the phone and they reply to all the other people asking with "check the website for when it's open again". Now why would they do somethig like that? When they could easily say "we are expecting the gym to be closed for 4 weeks". They could have easily posted signs on the gym saying the expected time it will be closed for. Seems like they don't want to tell anyone in fear of people cancelling their memberships which is just completely shady business practices. Really disappointed.

Drove to the PF on Thursday at 5:45AM only to find the entire place closed, no one in the parking lot, no equipment. Low and behold, the entire gyms under renovations. No email sent to customers, no notice of closure (last I was there was on May 8th), NOTHING. This place is a total joke. You need to disclose how many months estimate for the ongoing construction. It looks like it will take a while since it’s the entire floor. Not a bad Planet Fitness, but there seems to be a lot of blind spots around the gym—for example; coming out of the men’s locker room, etc, you run into other people constantly. AC in the TRX corner kicks on sometimes and can make it a bit chilly when working out. Experienced one of the showers clogged. Other than that, it’s not a bad PF. Just wish there wasn’t music playing in the men’s locker room, and that there was more variety played in PF as a whole— but that’s a more generalized complaint. I was told that was a “corporate” problem. Well get with the program corporate, you have music that’s been playing on repeat since probably before 2017.

Not sure if there's been a change in management (I suspect that's the case), but things have been steadily improving at this location. The equipment is maintained properly and repairs are swiftly made, locker rooms are clean, paper towel dispensers are usually always full now and disinfectant cleaner always available to wipe down machines. Some new faces on the staff and they are friendly and helpful. It's getting back up to where it was before and feels like the PF I remember. Hope it continues! Glad I didn't cancel.

I've been a member here for over seven years. Over the past couple of years it's been steadily going downhill. Several of the machines always seem to be broken. The only reason I continue to come here is because of convenience. The same paper towel dispensers have been broken for over a year, half the Arc Trainer machines are either un-level, won’t turn on, or turn off half way through your workout! I was inspired to write this review in the hope that the management will correct the problems with an otherwise good gym. Here are my gripes:
1. The cleaning stations need to be replaced. Even when full of paper towels half of them malfunction and won’t dispense. The metal part are corroded and gross. At least sand them down and repaint!
2. If you’re going to have exposed piping as a ceiling the pipes should be at least dusted once a year!

For a Judgement Free blah blah zone, most of the male staff is bordering on surly. Trash cans overflowing always. I noticed two people working out together and they were warned (threatened) about personal training. I was hesitant to sign up at this Planet Fitness because of others' reviews, but I'm glad I did. This PF is fantastic - it's huge, clean, not too busy, and has updated equipment and an amazing women's locker room.

Something that was the highest priority for me before signing up for a gym was air quality. I toured 3 other gyms (Crunch Fitness, Anytime Fitness, and a YMCA) and all of those had poor ventilation. This PF by contrast has high ceilings, excellent air flow/fans, and is kept at a cool temperature. It doesn't feel like I'm breathing in sweaty air, and I don't get whiffs of body odor when I walk around there.

I use the gym for treadmills, machines, and stretching, and this gym has been great for all of those things. In general, people clean equipment after they're done with it, and this is by far the cleanest gym I've been going to.

In terms of the people who work there, they seem nice enough. I have gotten a glimpse of why some other reviewers have mentioned them having an attitude and being disrespectful, and that sucks to hear. They do indeed play several blaring sirens at 9:30pm and 9:45pm before it closes at 10pm (weekdays), and you can tell it's very important to them that everyone is out of the building at 10pm. Since I had read about the sirens in another person's review, I was prepared for it, otherwise I would have been startled lol. But loud sirens and lights turning off and on is not a big deal to me. What is important to me is that I can get my workout in.

The people who go to the gym seem nice. I usually am mostly in my own little world listening to music on my earbuds, so it's not like I go to the gym to socialize, but people have been respectful and kind when I've interacted with them.

I also like that there's a large parking lot, and at night there is great lighting in the parking lot.

Personally, I would highly recommend this gym. Plus, you obviously can't beat the cost, but I would have signed up even if it was more expensive than its competitors. Take other people's reviews (including mine) with a grain of salt because everyone writes about what matters to them, which may or may not be what matters to you. For me this gym is awesome and I always look forward to going there.

I had an issue this morning where I made a manual payment for my monthly membership after receiving a notification that my monthly charge did not go through. The notification directed me to make a payment. Thereafter my payment method on file was additionally auto charged for the same amount. I called the Medford location to get a refund for the double charged amount. The gentleman who answered the phone lacked customer service skills in my opinion. I said something to the effect of “you charged me twice” and he snapped back something to the effect of “I” didn’t charge you anything. It was one of the snarkiest interactions I’ve had with a gym representative ever. The gym itself isn’t bad at all. But whoever answered the phone this morning clearly didn’t get up on the right side of the bed or missed customer service training. Part of the complication is they apparently do billing through a third party. Coordinate with your agents Planet Fitness so customers don’t get double charged. If a double charge does occur, don’t make it seem like I’m being unreasonable for asking for a refund.

Slightly better than the cambridge location. As i saw in some recent posts i can confirm, equipment could use some repairs, lockers are in need of hinge replacements. Not very crowded for a friday early evening, so that was a plus. Update: 08/29/23 seems like its improving, some of the treadmills have had their electronics replaced. Almost every TV is working, (I only saw 1 off today) lockers still effed up though, but that doesnt make the place any worse.

I went there because it was next to my job and I needed to get a tanning session in before my vacation this weekend. I asked for 12 minutes and was told I was all set. The beds are super out dated and very dirty. Then on top of that the bed stopped after only 3 minutes. When I spoke to the manager about it he said it was because it was my first time at this location. So now I can’t go tanning for 24 hours, even though I was only able to tan for 3 minutes. If they would’ve told me this before I tried to tan I would’ve waited and went to my normal location. I won’t go back there again. Also because the beds are old and nasty.

Canceled my membership today. Place is very dirty, staff unfriendly, people hog machines for long periods of time. Had the black card so I could use the massage beds and chairs and they were always broken when I wanted to use one. Going to take my business elsewhere.

There are better gyms out there.

- Locker rooms need alot of TLC. Most of the lockers are very beat up and most of the hinges on the doors are broken. Hey management, lets put some investment in fixing the lockers!
- 1 of the hydro massage beds doesnt work, it shuts off with an error code after about 1 min.
- alot of equipment broken, or pulley systems are very very worn out exposing sharp wire
- 'Gymtimidation' is prevalent here. Most individuals do not wipe down any equipment, and it is nearly impossible to get a turn on the squat racks as people sit and hold them while talking on the phones.
- alot of disrespectful gym goers here, but I guess that because no one enforces anything here.

I'm a black card member and my "home" gym is East Boston. I tried to go to the Medford location (to use tanning bed) but was told my Black Card doesn't work at that location. I thought that was the main benefit of the Black Card?... I was told by the desk attendant that they don't accept members of other gyms that aren't owned by this gym owner. Lame....

Probably the worst gym I have been to. I moved out of state and tried to cancel but they said I had to go into that location in person to do so. They also said that I could mail in my signature instead of going in person, but that they might not accept it! So when I visited for vacation I went in person to cancel - the woman at the front desk proceeded to announce how many days I had not been there (because I moved) and as I was leaving another associate standing next to her exclaimed “come back when you are ready” rudely. So much for being open and accepting. They then charged me 40$ for canceling despite not mentioning they would charge at all when I came in.

PLEASE READ AND SPREAD!!:My friend came into planet fitness one day and they said "you get the first day free" next thing you know he walks all the way to planet fitness gym anx they tell him oh you need parents siguantare for safety rules, but mimd you thats not the problem the problem is they tell him this the 2nd time he came but not the first time this is A big example of BAD BUSINESS. They also only did it because the boss is here which is the was the first time I've ever seen her myself...what kind of boss is that?! Also the treadmills never work and once I almost fell on the stairs while because it was working at first but broke while i was using it therefore,another example of bad business!! But props to workers for reassuring us when the incident with my friend happened and they deserve a raise for the kindness they bring to this gym.

Scam-fitness. I had a membership here for a few years. When I cancelled they, charged me an early termination fee. Perfect example of a gym that just wants what you got in your pocket. SCAM. Also basically harassed by the employees. They’re attitude is basically F off when asked anything. Still trying to reach a manager.

The staff are always greeting you with a smile and are always there if you ever need assistance. Clean, friendly staff, great price and awesome atmosphere! It tends to get very busy at night but the mornings are a good time to get the machines I use. Definitely one of the best clubs I’ve been too!
