I usually love PVTA. Today was not one of those days. Several months ago, I had submitted an application for paratransit services to transport me from my home in Amherst, to my classes at Springfield College.did not hear anything from them by phone or written correspondence. On inquiry, they informed me that because my mailed in application form was submitted on back-to-back paper, it could not be processed. Really?! So they tossed my application aside and simply did not find it necessary to communicate that detail to me, thus exacerbate my physical and emotional stress levels. That indifference was striking!

Planet Fitness has these really cheap lockers. On the inside screw on the bottom right, it juts out. I just ripped a very important pair of pants I have, the only pair I have. This is a cheap defect all the lockers have.

I love the staff in Northampton. They are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Thu Tran is an excellent trainer. He has showed me how to correct my form and posture while lifting free weights and has given me amazing advice building my leg muscles. Has taught me different ways to angle my feet on the leg press with less pressure on my knees if I angle my feet instead of keeping them straight. FABULOUS improvement. Always learning new things from Thu Tran. He is extremely helpful and a great teacher. Xavian is also a wonderful trainer. He has helped me learn many machines since I started planet fitness. Learning how to use them the correct way. I am eager to learn always the correct way to use every machine. He is wonderful and great with all customers. Nick and Tabitha are also fantastic with anything I need. Excellent with any questions I have. They are always up to teaching me new learning techniques to the equipment. Nick was the first employee I met at Planet Fitness. He took me around the whole gym. Showed me how to use the machines I was interested in and I have learned even so much more since I started with his help. It would be a good gym- equipment is new, staff is really nice, and it's clean. However, the Wi-Fi rarely works and it's a cell service deadzone- frustrating to not be able to use Spotify/any apps while there. Will end up cancelling/going somewhere else, which is unfortunate- it's just such a basic amenity.

It’s a great gym but oh my god is it HOT in there. They don’t have the A/C nearly high enough for a gym and I’ve heard tons of people complain about it, so I’m shocked they haven’t made the change. Other than that (and aside from their new paper towel dispensers which are broken or empty 75% of the time) it’s a great value.

The new treadmills are garbage. There’s no other way to put it. I know franchisees get forced into upgrades by corporate, but this is just a cost-cutting move dressed up as an “improvement.” These machines are clunky, uncomfortable, and clearly thrown together by people who’ve never actually used a treadmill. There’s no support in the deck, the belt feels unstable, and the build quality is laughable. It’s like running on a piece of hollow plastic.

I’m not asking for five-star treatment. I pay $15 a month and I know what that gets me. But what it shouldn’t get me is broken-down quality and equipment so poorly made that it actively ruins the workout. It’s obvious these were chosen because they were cheap - not because they were good. The user experience is worse now, not better.

This isn’t on the local staff. They’re excellent. This is on the people pulling the strings and approving this junk for every location.

I love this gym! The 24 hour flexibility is awesome, and the space is always kept immaculate. I always see things being cleaned and it usually smells nice as well.
Some of the equipment might be a bit older than some other PF locations, but the cleanliness and overall chill vibe of this gym is totally worth it in my opinion.

The men’s locker room (specifically the shower area) has been absolutely disgusting, and not properly cleaned of maintained recently. I’ve mentioned this to staff numerous times and it hasn’t seemed to have changed. Also, 2 of the showers have been broken for weeks.

Have worked out at PF since 2006. Great choice of machines and free weights. Scrupulously clean. Affordable. Great showers.

Negatives: terrible music playlists, hard to listen to. You do better if you wear sound canceling headphones and listen to your own material.

Lockers are short so you cannot hang business casual clothing in them.

There is a policy across all sites: you cannot require that customers clean their machine after use. This means that it is up to the customer to speak to careless users who do not wipe their machine or bench down. This never goes well.

Question: why does PF use the British spelling of “judgment?” It is uniformly spelled “judgement” at all sites. Oh well.

This gym made me fall in love with working out.

As a queer person who grew up in a conservative area, I always felt excluded from the fitness and athletic community. The people who tended to be really into these activities also tended to make me feel excluded, othered, and inconsequential.

I first attended this gym as a guest of a friend of mine with a Black Card. I enjoyed the feeling of exercise and the mental health benefits so much I pushed myself to get my own membership.

I would like to give a super warm shoutout to Shelby. On my first day of going to the gym by myself, I felt really anxious and scared. I remember walking in and Shelby complimenting me on my gym outfit and making me feel extremely comfortable and seen. Her friendly attitude and overall demeanor really hammered the idea that “movement is for everyone” into my head. I feel like she was an excellent representative of Planet Fitness’s overall message of fitness and movement being for everyone, and I just wanted to personally thank her for her role in my journey to reclaim movement, fitness, and what my body can do for me as a queer person!

Sign on the building says "10 dollars a month." I walked in, and within two minutes of discussing the payment plan, it jumped to 50$+ a month. I needed it for 4 months. 50$+ joining few, 60$+ maintenance fee on the 1st and a cancelation fee of I believe 80$. I've already had problems with multiple locations of pfit. Then, the manager couldn't even admit to the false advertising. Even though he proved his point two minutes into our conversation. Idk how anyone serious can work out at these gyms. Honestly, I'll never go back 3 strikes, and you're out.

Two months ago I would give 5 stars as the place was always welcoming and clean. Whether it's new management or the all-new staff - turnover is ridiculous - using the mat in the abs section I continually encounter dirt, the women's counters and seats by the lockers look like someone sprayed them with ? and then sloppily wiped it off leaving spots and streaks and general dirty look. And the mirrors, spots everywhere on them, again like they were sloppily wiped. Then there's the doors that are riddled with finger and hand prints.
I have been a regular member at this club since it opened in 2019 and it has never been so nasty looking. This use to be a haven of tranquillity and exercise, part of my self-care ritual, and now I don't even want to go. Something has to change.

It's a great gym, but no matter what the owner or manager says, they do NOT stop people from using the equipment like furniture, use their phones or "chat". Especially in the 360 work out. They say to report it but when you do the staff just shrugs their shoulders and do nothing. Nor will they give you the name or contact info for the manager. I love going there and the 360 work out is my favorite but nobody there follows the rules to it. The gym is clean, safe and equipment is great. But the staff is lazy and not one bit helpful.

I was able to exercise and listen to my earbuds in peace. No sonic bleeding in from a radio blasting overhead. In fact, I could barely hear the radio or TVs at all! This is a great thing: employees and customers should not have to be tortured by a loud sound system pumping in annoying music. Let people have their own headphones with their own music.

I don't think it's safe to be wearing a mask while doing cardio. Our body releases toxins through sweat, the masks we wear get soaked in sweat and then we breath in those toxins through a sweat soaked mask. I'm trying to follow your rules but I come home after working out with sore lungs and coughing up phlegm.

The manager of this place was very rude to me. He really made me feel so bad that it affected my work out, I could not concentrate and had to cut it short and get out of there. The manager is using his authority to bully members never in my life have I experience this kind of treatment before. I even went to make an complain to another worker who claimed there is nothing she can do because he is the manager. The staff is not enforcing the mask policy. I was scolded ,because I took my sweatshirt off on hung it on the railing on the machine I was still actively using. Yet I was able to observe several people with masks around their neck, not being scolded. I also observed multiple people not cleaning their machines either. 3 staff members leaning on the desk, not cleaning machines either. The next day my daughter was harassed and accused of lying about what school she attended, because there is an out break at UMASS and those students are not allowed. The gentleman in question that is doing this is a large man with dark hair and a beard. I guess it's time to cancel my membership and go elsewhere. No need for this kind of harassment.

pretty decent gym, only one issue thus far and that was from some "Karen" having an issue with my water jug. was told i could no longer bring it in the gym, no worries, my intimidating water jug only accompanies me now to my other gym i also use. like the large number of machines available and my wife enjoys the many cardio machines. unfortunately, with the gym being closed since March we have added many more weights and equipment to our home gym and if the dictator governor requires masks to be worn once the gyms can reopen we will no longer be members here as doing cardio and weight training with a mask is detrimental to your health as well as uncomfortable and we will remain training at home if this is the case.

Joined 1 week ago. Nice helpful staff and yes it is clean but it should be it's brand spanking new. Tonight was the first time I showered there. The shower stall it self was relatively clean , except for the extremely dirty nasty moldy shower curtain. Someone needs to spray that thing with a bleach solution or something, or better yet replace it!! 🤢
As much as I don't like leaving sweaty and smelly I think in the future I'll shower at home.

Update..... I checked out the shower curtains 3 days after my review and I’m happy to report they were all spotlessly clean. I’m not sure if my initial review had anything to do with this but I thank the staff for taking care of the issue.

The BEST Planet Fitness! Clean, large, lots of machines, friendly staff! The manager here used to manage the Belchertown Planet Fitness where I used to go. I stopped in the Belchertown PF because I was in the area and it was AWFUL!! VERY unfriendly staff, dirty, hot, machines needed some work. Overnight staff is great, and the place is clean. However, that's about it. Recently, some of the staff has changed over and after a rude employee had an issue with me, I received a call from the GM today telling me he was cancelling my membership due to old payments at a different location, from 3+ years ago. I have had my membership for awhile, and transferred to this location over 3 months ago.
I had just suggested some family members join, and luckily they got the no commitment because they were already concerned that none of the staff is ever on the floor. I am usually there at 4am but this past week I was there Thurs-Sat during the afternoon and witnessed the managers and at least 4 staff members hanging out behind the desk, several times and not engaging with members. As a previous worker at a CORPORATE owned Planet Fitness, I know that policy is to be out on the floor cleaning, stocking paper towels, or just being available to the members. I told my family to stick it out, maybe go at a different time, but now I understand their concerns. Before the negative interactions I had already planned to no longer visit the North Hampton locations. Now, I definitely will not be returning.

I travel to Planet Fitness all over the country and NEVER have I had staff be as rude as this location. The fact that the GM didn't even talk to me to get my side, or even seem concerned about his staff being rude, but rather punished me for his staff's poor behavior blows my mind. Acknowledging the fact that I had just had a negative interaction in his location should have been the FIRST thing he did, rather than just telling me his name and that he was cancelling my membership. I have already transferred my membership back to a corporate account, and will be addressing these "unpaid dues" with a different branch so that I can sever ties with this franchise.

Great staff, clean, inviting, peaceful. Great locker rooms and showers. Nice new equipment. Definitely the best gym in Northampton.

The location is pretty convenient for me and my wife, plus it's near a supermarket, so that can be helpful. The two negatives I have is that the water is awful from the fountain; that's most likely a Northampton WD issue and I'm not too keen on the layout. Granted, I am used to the layout in Greenfield, but it's still a little off for me and a couple of pieces of equipment just aren't as comfortable as the ones in Greenfield. They feel a little awkward to me. The staff so far has been kind and courteous, unlike the crew in Hadley

This location is fantastic! The PF where I used to live had a weirdly late opening time (10am) and no bike machines. This has all the great machines the other locations have plus 2 different style bike machines. Really comfortable and in addition to the overhead fan, each machine has a fan you can control, and a USB port. I watch Netflix on my iPad while biking or walking. Also the shower water is actually warm!
