The front desk employee was unexpectedly dismissive and informed us that memberships couldn’t be set up in person, resulting in five people being turned away. This was confusing, as Google indicates that memberships can be created in person at any location. It came across as though she simply didn’t want to do her job. It would be helpful if staff offered clearer information and better customer service, especially for new guests trying to sign up.

Big shout-out to Quentin and his crew at the Pittsfield Planet Fitness. This place is so clean it almost makes me feel guilty for walking in with shoes on. The bathrooms? Honestly cleaner than most hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. The equipment is always in top shape, and every employee is friendly, helpful, and somehow always in a good mood.

And the membership? About 50 cents a day. You can barely feed a parking meter for that. There is no better deal in town.

UPDATE; I HAVE SENT A RESPONSE AS THEY ASKED ME TO SEE IF THEY WANT TO RETURN THE MONEY THEY STOLE AFTER PAYING FOR MY LAST 30 DSYS THEY REVOKED MY ACCESS THAT DAY STEALKNG 40, BECAUSE THEY HAD A WAY OF ASKING MY BANK FOR THIS TWICE SO AFTER MY BANK PAID THEY HIT ME AGAIN MAKING MY BANK DENY THE FEE AND PLANET FITNESS CHARGED ME 40 DOLLARS 9 OUT OF TEN MONTHS. AND I WAS TOLD I HAD UNTIL SEPT 16 BUT WAS REVOKED ON AUG 21, ENOUGH TIME FIR THEM TO TAKE MY 25, HIT MY BSNK AGAIN AND ASK FOR 4O...And the treadmills are set at an incline when set at 0 incline, meaning they are INSTALLED at an incline, it's got to be 2 percent. I know this because I cant run five minutes on the treadmills here at 5 miles an hour but I was at the YMCA today abd ran with the treadmill set at 0.5 or 5 tenths of a percent incline and I ran at between 5.5 and 6.0 mph for 45 minutes without too much effort but at planet fitness I would last only 1 minute at 5.5 MPH with incline set at 0. The other thing is my bank pays the money it's supposed to be all set then somehow gets kicked back and I owe a late fee this happens over and over so instead of paying 25 I pay 40, the day I paid I canceled was supposed to get the last month I paid for but immediately got kicked off the App which means I again am not getting everything I paid for even if they let me workout in the club with the messed up treadmills I paid for another month which includes the use of the App

Absolutely agree with the comment that closing the gym at 7pm on weekends is way too early. It should be open until 9 at least. Some people work on weekends, and it's not enough time to get a decent workout in. We're not asking for it to be open 24/7, but at least until 9pm could be much better.

I love pfit, but this location is very small in comparison to most Planet Fitnesses, feels packed whenever I go. Outdated equipment. Showers and hydro beds are low pressure compared to most that I've been to. Still no Total Body Enhancement vibrashake redlight here...please bring this amazing machine to Pittsfield!! ❤️

Best place to go. It's laid back. Not a lot of free weights which I think is good. They have finally added a seated calf raise machine. And a hack squat machine. I'm 50 years old. And this place is great for me. Always clean. Staff are all very friendly. Generally nice atmosphere. I personally think it's still kind of small. It's can get pretty crowded certain days. Machines are for the most part never ' out of service' and if they are it's not long. For the gyms we have in town. I'd rather be here.

PF is a good company and I have had the opportunity to use several of their locations. They are spacious and have good equipment, but this Pittsfield location is terrible. The machines are poorly maintained, lack grease and cleanliness, as are the common areas. The pulleys do not work properly and it is difficult to perform coherent routines because the machines are randomly scattered around the place. I would rather pay a membership fee elsewhere or drive farther away than go to this location.

Great place but when the “one click unsubscribe” law gets passed soon I don’t expect it to have enough money to be that well maintained since it’s common knowledge that over half of planet fitnesses profits come from people being too lazy to cancel memberships they don’t use because your required to go in person. I invested in a home gym (it’s only about 500$ for a couple benches and some weights) so I’m looking forward to the one click unsubscribe

5.31.24 still one star. All matrix products are designed to sync up with Apple Watches. This function worked well in the past but not at all at present except for the two bike trainers. I personally like the data generated when the watch and exercise equipment sync and communicate. I ask often and usually get blank stares. Seems as if you carry and feature a certain brand of equipment , members should be able to fully use all of its features. I realize this is a mi or concern but it does matter to me.

8.11.24 internet issues again. Apple Watch did connect briefly to the treadmills for four sessions and today not working. And now watch connectivity to the bike trainer not enabled as well.
One star at best. Pain.

Wonderful location. The greeting staff is so so friendly it feels like family walking in. The gym is clean and extremely well maintained. The staff is always working and helping out. It’s so nice! The trainer is clueless. I’ve watched him “train” an elderly woman and the weights are too heavy. Zero form. He’ll check his phone and not even truly pay attention to her. She’s not even doing full extensions because the weights are too heavy.

I love working out, nice to find a place with an abundance of cardio machines. Only thing lacking is more free weights, not dumbbells, but preacher curls, incline with barbell slots and regular long barbells. Not a true fan of machine weights... The place is clean and always has frienly staff, a big plus. I have been a member in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Great Neck, NY and Pittsfield, MA. An excellent value for the money! I was a member of LA Fitness for 28 years, it is nicer, but locations are limited, and all the other gyms can't compete for price and cleanliness here!

Don't pay for the black card. Massage beds are not working most of the time. You will only get the aggravation. if you ask to change to basic plan, they will force you to pay an initiation fee AGAIN, even if payed one just the last month.
There is a silly response from the owners suggesting to talk to the manager. About what? The fact that you cannot fix massage bed for weeks maybe months?

I like the gym. It's very clean. Lots of space, easy to use. The staff is friendly from what I've seen, but they're certainly very hands-off. I appreciate that nobody is breathing down your neck or nagging you, but as a new member, it was odd to receive no sort of guidance or much of anything. When I came in for the first time, saying I was using my free visit to look around, I was just given an "ok go ahead". I'm not sure if it's just not really a common thing to do classes or training sessions here, but it's something I'd be interested in. Never seen one happen and I wouldn't really feel comfortable approaching the employees about it. I thought it was something that would be advertised a lot. But anyways, a great place to go if you're just looking to do your own thing!

Just a regular member. Signing up was easy, terms are clearly stated, although there are the usual one-time fees. Place is clean and well-maintained. Smith machines, free weights, the usual purple and yellow exercise apparatuses, lots of treadmills, bike machines, etc. Cleaning supplies are always available. The staff are nice. There's a water fountain / water bottle refill station by the lockers/restrooms. Parking is plenty. Varied clientele, all ages and sizes.

As a brand new member I was surprised at the lack of interest in new members. I had gone in a few times very confused and overwhelmed. Not 1 employee offered to show me around or explain anything. PF wasn't requiring Masking in Dec/Jan, when Covid was surging again. I Didn't like that so I rarely went. When did visit, I wore my N-95 & carried my spray bottle of 91% Alcohol. I'm a First Responder RN, who's Never had Covid. 🙏😷(Knock Wood!!) I'll frequent PF once back home in Kentucky! Love that PF has a location mostly EVERYWHERE for a quick, effective work out at a Great price. And open 24hrs @ most spots = Dream for shift workers

Before joining planet fitness I did a free trial membership of retro fitness & the 2 gyms really are like night and day. I felt much more comfortable & welcome at planet fitness then Retro which seems to cater to those who have been working out for a long time where as planet fitness definitely would be a much better choice of gym for anyone just starting out or who is looking to learn more in a comfortable and judgment free environment. I'd definitely recommend this gym and the membership is very reasonably priced.

The staff are not friendly or accommodating. In a previous membership there was a team member who asked me to put a jacket on because I was wearing gym clothes that were "too revealing" they however did not make the more fit girl working out put on a jacket. (Showing more skin than I was). In generally a super unfriendly place for plus size humans to get fit. I got lured in by also getting to use the massage tables etc, come to find out the desk staff will make fun of you for using them daily... and not in a fun banter way. Find somewhere else. Their whole "no judgement zone" is absolutely bs for the pittsfield location. They judge you, selectively apply rules, and mock you openly

From the Albany NY area...and King Cuomo has kept all NYS gyms closed since mid-March due to Covid. MA gyms were able to reopen in early July...so twice a week, I've been driving to MA to get my workouts in. Both N. Adams and Pittsfield are about the same distance from Albany...so went first to NA and found it to be OK...but pretty small. The second trip over, I opted for Pittsfield...and have been back twice-a-week since. Nice club, efficient staff, clean...and (at least mid-day) not very crowded. They've honored my Black Card (even though dues are still not being collected for NYS clubs--THANK YOU!), and I am impressed at member efforts to maintain cleanliness and social distancing. Honesty wish I lived closer...this is a well run, well maintained facility. Keep up the good work!

Gyms decent and well equipped however some simple improvements would make it far better :

1. Stretching area is not conducive for stretching at all, hardly any mats and too easy to get in other people’s way, the area needs less machines and more carpet.

2. Not enough water fountains, you need to hike from one end of the gym to the other.

3. WiFi is useless and never works.

4. The planet fitness music playlist is beyond awful. ABBA doesn’t belong in the gym neither does country music.

5. Too many tv screens, television really doesn’t belong in the gym, not to mention it’s wasteful of electricity and distracting.

6. Desperately need a squat rack for freeweight stuff like deadlift and squats, shift machines are rubbish and dangerous!
