It's an alright gym by itself, however service is absolutely atrocious. All they do is mislead you to scam for money. I've been informed that my membership was canceled and then they charged me anyways. And because they were unable to charge my account properly they applied the late fee to my account without any prior notice whatsoever. I know I am not the only person with this issue. Unless they fix that I'd recommend other gyms in the area.

My kid used to come to this location with friends and was hit on and sexually harassed by two adult staff members, one being the taller assistant manager with glasses, and the other the staff member with a light-medium complexion and glasses, typically with the assistant manager. When I went in to discuss this with the manager, she dismissed my concerns, defended the employees, and even pressed me to remove my original review discussing the issue, all while speaking to me in a rude and dismissive tone.

I later discovered that my original review had been taken down, so I am carefully rewriting it here without using direct names. If you have kids and are considering signing them up at this location, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

I am not a member of Planet Fitness, but, upon visiting my family in Reading, my sister and brother who are members recommended me trying it out while I was visiting. I have to say it was clean...even the members understood the assignment, which is a hard thing to do in gym culture! Members cleaned and returned equipment to where they got it! There was plenty of equipment for me to get an awesome workout...I am an instructor and personal trainer and love to plan my own workout not using machines. The locker rooms were clean and uncluttered...I only used the restroom area, though, so that is the only area my comment applies to. BUT the best part of my visit was the STAFF! Chaz and Zach at the front desk greeted me, were very friendly, smiling (!), and helped me find the best option for my short stay there. They made my day and I want them to know to keep doing what they are doing because I am sure my day wasn't the only one brightened by these two!

Smallest planet fitness I ever been to.
I travel a lot and workout in different planet fitness locations all around US. I have worked out in NJ,CA,PA, IL u name it.
This planet fitness location is the smallest I ever entered.
People would say it's better to have something than nothing, true but I don't really understand priorities of this gym.
Why would you need full zise spa section ( which is empty in top hour (5 p.m.), and at the same time have 0 equipment for calisthenics (pull up bar section) like in any other planet fitness?
That just does not make any sense.
Was my first time and the last one, unfortunately would rather ride 10 minutes more but have more equipment inside of the gym, than useless spa😮‍💨

I really enjoy planet fitness. Lots of friendly and helpful employees. Gym area is always very clean and enjoyable. Locker rooms and bathrooms always fresh and well maintained.

The 4 star instead of 5; my only critique the showers/ shower curtains area could use some more regular cleaning. But not terrible at all. I’ll definitely shower there more often; the tile is well maintained and plenty of hot water with good pressure.

I was attempting to sign in to reading planet fitness today around 3:20. When I was signing in a guy with thick glasses started to say I couldn't sign in since I had a guest account. When I tried to explain my mom was waiting in the car with her account being the black card he scolded me to get out and don't bother trying to sneak in. In 2023 the gym was good, clean, staff seemed in good progress (I think). Got new equipment... it was OK but some issues. 2024 just slowly going downhill. 2023 clean. 2024 just got dirty. Dust and hair started just got worse by the month. No joking. It's dirty. There still a picture drawn in the dust from months ago. Looks good when you walk in. I guess the manager doesn't care. She does walk around sometime during the week. Just going through the motions. Maybe I will try Saugus on Danvers. Both are clean and good.

1. Staff, staff, staff! I have had nothing but great experiences with the friendly and extremely helpful front desk staff. I recently transferred my home gym membership to the Reading location, and the staff was courteous, thorough, and efficient throughout the entire process.

2. Facilities and updated/top-of-the-line equipment! The facilities are sparkling clean and the cardio and 30-min. workout equipment is more current than the equipment at other gyms.

3. PARKING! I am so, so grateful to have convenient, free parking!!!

Do not come to this gym. I signed up at this gym back in January, and they charged my account a “late fee” for 3 months, and no one from the gym informed me this was happening. They said my bank was blocking my payment from them, when I reached out to my bank and they said this never happened. I’ve been playing phone tag with this gym for 2 weeks, because no one communicates with eachother at this gym. I spoke to the manager today, and she voiced none of her staff members told her I have been calling this gym trying to get this situation resolved. I never ever write bad reviews, but this is actually insanity. They’re leading me to other people to issue the refund which is crazy. Do your job .

Ran into an incident today where I went in specifically to tan. I signed in, got set up for my assigned booth and when I got to the booth someone was mistakenly in it already. Staff was eventually and begrudgingly able to get the confused gentlemen out of my assigned booth but then informed me that I was now out of luck as they couldn’t sign me in to tan again as there is a policy limiting each client to tanning once per 24 hour period, even though I did not tan through no fault of my own. This would not have been a big deal, trivial even, if staff had tried to be at all helpful or apologetic. Pretty much just told me I was out of luck and goodbye. I won’t be back and am changing my home gym.

Just joined this gym and will be leaving this gym. For starters it’s 2023….why is this location’s cell phone service so bad to the point where I can’t even listen to music while I work out?! Secondly, the women’s locker room is absolutely disgusting. Trash on the floors and toilets haven’t been cleaned in what looks like years. Lastly, every time I go to clean the machine I was using, there are no paper towels to even clean it with…during flu season! These seem like pretty basic maintenance and cleanliness issues that every gym should follow but clearly this one is extremely poorly managed.

No personal trainer at this location. The massage equipment are not that effective. The cleaning paper towel is so thin I can't use it for cleaning gym equipment after use and nobody does it here I saw that. Yoga mats are not enough for the crowd here.

I'm posting this because I already tried to reach out to the social media people and they say all locations are independently owned so would the GM at this location please make sure the showers are clean more often I drive truck and visit all different locations and this is the worst I've ever seen as a landscaper it would take me over a month to get my shower this dirty and there were flies in the shower.. yes, I made sure to mention this issue as I left in a polite way. However, part of the job of anyone in a supervisor position is to make sure things are getting done as they should.

Today I come to demonstrate my dissatisfaction with the part of planet fitness from Reading, I have been a customer since 2018 I have never had this type of problem, due to a mistake by planet fitness itself, a charge was not made last year and I found out about it two weeks ago when I started coming to this location in Reading, I never had a problem the employees themselves called the gym from my location which is in the city of Malden and it had a value of 63 dollars that would be discounted in the next month, today I come across a surprise, the The manager of the Academy of Reading did not let me do my activity, kicking me out of the place and saying that I would have to go to the city of Malden to solve this problem, I come to show my dissatisfaction with this manager and with the company itself for contrasting such unprepared employee. while this manager is there don't recommend this planet fitness city of Reading to anyone.

I used to really enjoy this planet fitness. It was clean, kept up, and had friendly staff. It’s been in a steady decline the last few months and now is disgusting. I have been waiting to talk to someone instead of posting a negative review, but there’s never anyone working. Front desk is either unstaffed or by this guy, who won’t look up from his phone to help anyone. The water machine has been unusable for months (it was briefly fixed for a week, then broken again). Paper, towels, cleaning supplies, and sanitizer are usually empty and the trashes are full/overflowing. The womens locker room was at its worst today, trash on the floors and stalls. It’s a planet fitness so I’m not expecting much, just a clean basic gym.

Planet Fitness does a great job in keeping their facility clean. I love that it's open later than most gyms in the area and they have everything you could want from machines to free weights. I have never been to any PF gym before. When I was looking for a local gym, I was scared by the general negative online reviews about PF, worrying that it might not be hardcore enough. However, when I visited there, I was impressed by its cleanness and completeness. It has equipments for exercising all parts. People at different levels all work out there. So I signed up and have been happy about my decision so far. I think it's an excellent choice for your daily workout need.

13feb2021: 1 total body enhancement booth control pad is not working and only the lights turn on. Manager only works during the week, sounds like it's already been a few days. I wish planet app and website had a tool to screen location by perks and working order.

Otherwise ceiling height is goos and it felt spacious, not too many people on Saturday 4pm

This branch is giving illegal medical advice and practicing medicine without a license in direct violation of state law, planet fitness policy and WHO recommendations.

They are literally forcing customers to wear masks WHILE running. I actually went to medical school and can tell you that this could lead to acidosis. Someone will eventually pass out and get injured or die because of the staff’s personal policy.

This is what happens when the most ignorant people among us are the ones trying to make the rules.

I also called the police and they said they will not come, enforce or side with the staff on this issue if they are called.

Staff can ask you to leave and/or cancel your membership, at which point you have damages you can sue for. This will turn into a class action lawsuit. But you DO NOT have to accept what they say are fact. Challenge them.

Great place to workout. Staff is helpful and friendly, just don't plan your workout on Saturday morning. Just about every Saturday there is a line outside at 7 am when they are supposed to open. Makes it tough when you work on saturday and are trying to squeeze in a workout.
