This is a classic old school gym.
If you're looking to get into shape and be serious about your fitness this no-frills gym is a flashback to the 90s recommended to anyone.
Anyone who says anything else about this gym does not know gym culture

The guy I actually signed up with was great. I love Katie's Zumba class.

Katie went above and beyond to make sure I enjoyed the class!

Fast forward they were extremely helpful and got involved the class to get better for a little bit but not too long. I had heard bad things about trying to cancel with these people but they canceled my membership without even questioning..I would recommend space jam they have plenty of equipment plenty of parking and you're never waiting for a machine. Nice people. The Zumba class just wasn't for me.

This gym has been very inconvenient. Recently got the membership, I got a 24/7 access key for $10. When I tried using it, it wasn’t working, a front desk worker or owner (not sure) rudely came up to us and told me “stop trying to open the door if it doesn’t open” we told him we had the key pass. Instead of saying “I’m sorry for the inconvenience, please come inside so I can fix this issue for you” he said “not sure why it’s not working, come back Monday.

I’m canceling my membership, and have ti send a certified letter so it can be canceled 45 days after they have received it! What a joke!

Sad how good this place used to be. Not sure what happened. 1 of the 2 treadmills in the 24:7 room has been broken for 2 years, the machines are out of date and a safety hazard in there aswell, and the sauna is a never ending problem. The “materials” to fix the sauna have been sitting in the lobby for weeks but nothings getting done about it. The staff is amazing and everyone’s really nice but whoever runs this place should just sell it to somebody that actually takes pride in their customers. No other gym on earth would let these issues continue for more than a few days. It’s a real shame

Guy doesn't even take care of his equipment. Probably one of the worst gyms in the area. For over a year the same broken machines... terrible.

Awful customer service experience trying to cancel, and no this is not “usual practice” for a gym and is not due to people not understanding they need to send certified mail. Place is an absolute scam and leverages malicious business practices to take advantage of people. I called, went in person and sent certified mail all to no avail even though I was assured that my membership was cancelled I would see the charge go through the following month and upon following up being told I never cancelled. Once you get far enough down the rabbit hole, they’ll tell you that you can’t cancel and I ended up having to pay out the rest of the year. When they tried to renew me for the following year I just never updated my debit card and would be plagued by calls every month and continuously explain that I had cancelled. Eventually I told the debt collectors that the place was scamming people explained my experience and surprisingly they left me alone. At some point the place called when they hired a new manager who called to tell me I owed money. I just laughed and told them to never call me back and thankfully they haven’t. Place is awful save your money and sanity and go to literally any other gym.

Just read the other comments. Place is an absolute scam and attempts to send debt collectors after you to help them steal.

Update: "We do ask for a certified letter when cancelling your membership and the point of this is to protect the member and provide them with a tracking number so there could never be a "loss" of documents. It also states in the member agreement there is a 45 day cancellation window and this provides time to get cancellations done along with all the other paperwork that happens daily. We are a small business not a franchise."

As the owner, how can you type that out to a paying customer and think that's even remotely reasonable? We also run a small business whom uses a subscription based club model in my line of work, and the thought of needing anything besides the customers intent to cancel a membership is ridiculous and anti-client. You can't send debt collectors after someone for $20 over services not rendered with no warning and expect to not lose business.

It’s got all the stuff I’d need at a gym, BUT it’s not as crowded as an other gyms (for ten dollars down). I always hit my target groups, staff are great, the Janos ladder is crazy (10/10)

Pro-fitness plus has been great to me so far. I joined less than 3 days ago and I’m impressed with how clean it is and how much care they put into their facility. The sauna is amazing and the workers are outgoing. Really can’t ask for much more out of a gym!!

I have been a member of Pro Fitness Plus for 6 months now and I only have great things to say about this gym. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The facility is well-maintained and the equipment is top notch. Great gym with a wide variety of cardio/weight training and machines to choose from with 2 floors.

Overall this is a great gym, I got a membership around 6 months ago and it’s always open when I want to go. The staff are very friendly, and the parking is great. The 24/7 room makes it even better. I recommend this gym. Good environment, good people, good staff.

Joined this gym and the first couple of months were but my experience turned sour quick. Other members were judgy and made you feel uncomfortable, gym has stupid hours (especially on weekends) and the staff was incredibly unhelpful. Tried canceling my gym membership about 7 months in and the process was so frustrating. Couldn’t request to cancel in person or give a letter at the front counter, but had to hand write a letter and mail it in. Then received an email where I went back and forth on personal reasons for ending my membership. Stay away from this gym.

I need a gym, this is convenient right next to my house..but these reviews regarding the cancellation policy are deterring me from getting a membership. A gym isn't a timeshare property, it should be simple and take away stress..I hope this isn't the case? I don't know where to ask a question about an organization please excuse that.

Went to take my friend here as a guest and they asked for $20 off the bat for him to get in, when I remember it only being $10 so I said that to the employee, He says "I can do $10 for you today" I then asked my buddy who brought a friend a week ago and he said was told $10 right away no mention of $20. Really shady business, not a good look.

Don’t get a membership here. I would give 0 stars if I could. I cancelled my membership back in March 2022 through mail and got the return letter saying it is cancelled. I’ve been getting charged every month since then and disputed the charges. Now this month I get a charge of $250 on my card, which is over 12 months of membership pay. I’ve contacted several times on the phone and in person. Again don’t waste your time and money.

Love this gym. They have tons of free weights, machines, benches, squat racks, cardio equipment. Even during peak hours, you most likely won’t have to wait for equipment to open up because there’s multiples of basically everything. Definitely room for improvement: there’s like two weight clips in the whole gym (buy more!) the wifi is horrible and service is horrible (Verizon), the sauna is tiny and is always occupied (not really sure how they could improve this), and the constant infomercials running on some of the TVs is extremely annoying.

EDIT: To cancel your membership, you need to mail them a certified letter and then it's 45 days from when they received the letter is when they actually cancel it. AKA they get an extra month of fees from you unless you mail it like 60 days in advance. Garbage.

Extremely difficult cancellation policy. I sent a letter via certified mail to cancel 4 weeks ago. I’m now being charged an additional annual fee because it can take up to 30 days to process. This is completely taking advantage of the situation. When I called to discuss it ‘it’s just the policy’, so I have to eat $70 for an annual fee for a gym I will not be utilizing during that time period. I had originally signed up with a higher tier membership to attend classes. They ended up only having limited offerings (maybe one or no classes a day) at inconvenient times. I barely utilized the gym due to this.

I see all of these negative things on here regarding the cancellation process. Most of you are referring to things that happened years ago. It appears you are intentionally trying to bash a business for past policies. I have been in the club and I have read the agreements, I have signed the agreement. I also READ the agreement before I, MYSELF signed it. You people on here act like they physically forced you to sign your agreements. Stop hating on a beautiful gym for past mistakes! It’s not hard to follow policy and just cancel through the proper channels. I hope all these people on here hating on this place have the tables turned on them. Maybe then you’ll realize how pathetic ya’ll sound just for some clout.

Worst! I wrote a letter to close my membership. And I put the negative comment about charging me extra. The manager called me to take off the review meanwhile she started charging me again for 2 months. she said the letter I gave is not sufficient and you put a wrong review. After I took off the review she stopped charging me and gave me 2 months payment. The letter was enough if I took off the review? I couldn’t believe this was happening! I never had experience like this before.

Pro-Fitness Plus has been one of the best gym decisions myself and my fiancé have made in all our years of working out. From the minute we walked in to get information about deals, we were welcomed by staff. They gave us a tour, talked through options, and made us feel confident in our decision to join there. My fiancé and I have different interests in gym equipment and space and there wasn’t anything missing for either of us in this location. They had all the machines, space, weights, and times that we wanted. It never felt crowded and was always spotless. They take pride in their location and it shows. Having two floors was our favorite part to utilize machines, have space for floor mats and stretching, or to have our own space on a treadmill. Smoothie bar is an extra plus and staff were always willing to help or answer any questions. Since COVID-19 started, we moved out of state and had to leave the gym. Management worked with us and our contract to find an option that worked for both of us. They went above and beyond during a difficult time. We will greatly miss this gym and appreciate the business they provide.

Just back after 9 months. Looks like they put all of our membership dues collected while we were in quarantine to good use. A lot of fancy renovations. However, the women's workout room could still use a make-over. There's even less equipment in there now. Although the first treadmill I got on was broken and the second had a used bandaid in the cup holder- nice to see some things haven't changed...

Basically lied to me and scammed me with the membership. Called to cancel in August and they told me to wait until my contract expires in October to cancel. Went in October to cancel and they told me contracts don’t expire and they can keep billing me. Disputed the charge on my credit card and then received a letter from a debt collector telling me I owed the money plus $25 for this. The gym isn’t even nice enough to be worth this trouble. Manager Jessica was really rude to me on the phone and told me not to get upset after they charged me when I had already cancelled my membership.

I was a member of this gym for many years and loved the layout, equipment and the hours of operation. When I decided to try another gym the process of cancelling was very difficult. After many calls and visits I was able to cancel, but it was most frustrating. After a number of years when my wife wanted to return to the gym that we decided we should give this Billerica business, we are Billerica residents, another chance. Once again, a year or so later, we decided to cancel when plans changed and once again we are faced with the difficult cancellation policy. 45 days to close the account so we have to pay the yearly membership again and two months of payments totaling $112. I am very disappointed with this policy so posting this to help others when deciding on whether to join. I love to do business in my home town so it disappoints when I have experiences like this.

After a week and a half of unanswered calls to Pro-fitness Plus, I went in person to cancel my membership in July. I chose month to month rather than the lower priced 12 month contract. The owner/manager said that since I was already mid July, that I would need to pay 1 more month fee. I said that it was fine. I even felt bad about canceling. But in August, not only did they charge me the $21 membership fee, but also the annual $70. I thought that was pretty shady. Now, I have another monthly fee for September and after trying to speak to the manager on the phone, I was told to leave a message and that they would call me back. I live close by so I went over, not 30 minutes after calling, and both managers had "just left". I had planned on returning once this Covid was over, but now, I'll never go back to Pro-fitness Plus.

I was a happy customer of Pro-Fitness Plus for over 5 years. But their business practices are very poor when it comes to cancellations. As a diabetic who is also solo caregiver to an octogenarian, I am at high risk from COVID-19. I attempted to cancel my gym membership online during the period when gyms were closed, in April; I could not get my username to log into the site, not even from customer service. (I emailed them and never received a reply). I waited until the gym opened in July, and called Pro-Fitness Plus; they said I would have to come in "to sign a form" in order to process my cancellation; because I'm high risk, I am unable to visit a gym. (I told them this). They claimed they would "mail me the paperwork." (They never did). I sent them a letter to cancel, which they apparently ignored. Now, they are attempting to charge late fees because I changed my credit card number. I would very much recommend staying away from this business, which lacks ethics.

This gym never fix their equipment. I tried to cancel my membership because I moved out of Billerica and their manager said there was a 45 day period to cancel it. When I initially signed up, I was told the cancelation was 30 days. The manager (Kim Wheeler) said she would be there and that she leaves at 4:30 and she would pull my contract up, i told her I would be there shortly before 4:30. When I got there at 4:25pm, she had already left and did not inform the front desk about me. So I had to wait 20 mins for the front desk to get in contact with her just to have him give me a cancelation form that he could have given me to begin with. This was unprofessional and unethical. They did not provide me with my contract that I signed, probably because it did not say 45 day period to cancel my membership. I would not suggest to go here. My friends and I are canceling our memberships as I asked them for more cancelation forms before I left. Lost some good customers. And judging from the lack of response to the bad reviews compared to the response to the good reviews, I would definitely not recommend this gym to ANYBODY!

Been going here for years and love it. Lots of equipment is key, but mostly appreciate the selection of free weights. Glad they added that new area too because now there’s more space for squats and deadlifts. Even though I don’t really talk to anyone because I am an introvert and I’m always short on time (I really should talk more though...lol), I can say with confidence that the staff is friendly and the people that workout here are pretty cool and helpful too. I also enjoy seeing the same faces all the time. Gives it that neighborhood, community feeling. Lastly, PFP does a good job of keeping things clean, updating the gym, and working properly.

I've been coming here since I was a Sophomore in high school and in all honesty I'd love to say this is an A+ gym, but it's more like a C+ gym with A+ potential. Their floor layout and diverse set of equipment (and abundance of equipment) is unparalleled. Your basic gym has about 3 bench press tables, maybe 2 squat racks, 20-30 treadmills and PFF doubles those numbers and then some. Their issue is their management & maintenance. Everyday there is a machine missing a stack pin so you have to walk around the gym and find a nearby machine to steal that pin from and apply to your machine to properly set the weight. If you have to replace your debit or credit card that you have on file with them and forget to contact them to change your bill to your new card, they don't give you the courtesy of reaching out to you to have this changed rather they just let the fees rack up against you. The saunas and water bubblers will break and it will take not weeks, but months for them to fix. For instance, both the men & women's saunas were broken when I signed my wife up for her membership the first week of September. We went to the gym this morning and as of the time I write this review, both saunas are still broken. I've written an email to 3 different higher-ups at pro fitness over a week ago and have not even received a response. I asked the kid at the front desk if there was any update on when it will be fixed and was just told "Yeah I'm sorry you're like the 20th person who asked when it will be fixed. We don't have an ETA unfortunately". So yeah, take this info however you want but its clear to say this club lacks loyalty to their many loyal members

I dont even go to the gym. I go to the rehab place inside. I was in a horrible car crash and I can barely walk. The gym staff parks in the rab spots that are reserved for us patients for the rehab!! I watched the guy with the beard park there now 6 times!!! I've said something and time and time again he still parks there. Very aggravating and selfish, since he's pushing me out further to walk. Its almost like he's parking in a handicapped spot. The next time i see it I'm calling a tow. I've told him and told other people he works with. I lived in the Los Angeles area for 16 years and was a member of 24Hour Fitness and LA Fitness in Sherman Oaks, CA and Glendale, CA. All I want to say is that the aerobics classes and boot camp at the Profitness Plus Gym in Billerica are up to LA standards. The reason I give 4 out of 5 stars is because there are no instructor led spinning classes. This will make the club truly outstanding.

No matter how little or how often you attend a fitness class the instruction is always great! Janice is so uplifting and motivating to get you to the next level!

Your truck is a maniac and tried to run me off the road because I wasn't going fast enough on an on ramp. Guy shouldn't own a license, but would suggest for them not to be a raging lunatic when driving the company truck...

The facilities are great...too bad there are so many negative reviews about the financial side.

This place is ridiculous. They tell me it'll be 99 bucks for 3 months (the special). I go in next day and I want to pay for it. Lady at front desk says "it's gonna be 120 for 3 months" and I was like okay? I look at the chart and they want me to add 5 dollars extra per service?!! I basically got lied to my face and they want me to pay all these extra fees totaling up to roughly 150 for 3 months? Waste of time and money. Going to planet fitness.

Customer service is awful. They have drivers with advertisements posted on their cars that swerve through traffic, cut you off, then go wait in line in Dunkin Donuts.

Place is absolutely disgusting. Mens locker room has carpeting for bench seat...carpet! Men sit on this carpet after workouts, sauna, showers...carpets! And they haven't been changed in over 5 years. If you want ringworm...join this gym.

They do not take care of there equipment and are not willing to repair or replace broken stuff.
And if you go to quit...GOOD LUCK TO YOU. They become scam artists, Janet will not answer your emails and no one can help you. I told the kid that there gym is a pain in the ass to cancel and he replied " that's the way gyms are.."

I've been a member here for about 5 years. Their billing is awful and has gotten worse. It used to be a flat $20, but now they have a tiered membership system, which I would say nickels and dimes you, but it's a lot more than that. They charge a sign up fee, an annual fee, a monthly fee, and the monthly rates vary on what you plan to use. I got tanning in my plan - but I'm paying for nothing because they are not maintaining the equipment.

If you are late on payment - which has happened to me when a cc shuts down as fraud protection and the automatic debit is declined - they will not refund or waive the $35 fee. There is a cancellation fee. If you have a complaint or request wrt billing, you have to call ACC, their third party billing company.

The only reasons i'm still a member is that it is close to work, there is plenty of good equipment,... and my only other local option is to become a lunk at Planet Fitness. I'm not willing to drop so low, yet....

Facilities were good, but they tried to reneg on the terms of our annual membership and get a higher fee. Chose this location over cheaper options because it was local and offered babysitting while you work out. Cancelling is a very bothersome process, and more than a year after being completely out (with written confirmation) and no bills - suddenly they tried to bill my card again. It failed this time because my card had expired, still need to go back and make sure they didn't pull the same stunt last year (they cancelled the monthly fee but not the 'annual' fee supposedly). Gym uses an external service for billing, which is a convenient excuse for them not being responsible for all that pain, but at the end of the day still their choice to go with a 3rd party. TL;DR Carried two memberships w/babysitting for years, even though it was really just for my wife (and she was not a frequent user), suddenly mid-year they claimed babysitting was not included and wanted way more bucks.

I love the equipment and space here. I never had to compete with anyone for any of the weights/benches/racks or any of the cardio equipment. Upstairs has a nice, quiet area for yoga ball work or stretching, as well as cardio equipment and weights away from more of the serious lifters downstairs. The staff has always been pretty helpful too, even when I had billing issues. If I still lived in the area, I would be a member for sure.

Signed for a two year membership, paid automatically for two years, went to cancel and it take an act of God to do it. i'm actually into my fourth year because paying it is forgotten until the bank statement. Automatic charge on debit card was kicked back due to fraud alert from the bank, refused to re- autorize debit on newly issued card, late fees, rebilling fees, past dues, take me to court. This day of customer service and consumer friendly practice has past over these guys completely. Noy even an attempt to save my business. All smiles when you're signing but their like a bad date who won't say goodbye and move on after the ink is dry. 80's business practices are over.

Don't understand why the rating on this place was a 2.3. It's the best gym in the area. If your dedicated about your workout and go on a regular basis this is your place hands down. If you are not then simply sign up for planet fitness which is the worst gym town.

Staff is the best you get treated like family, equipment is the best, everything is kept clean/organized and new renovations are always being made to better the gym than it already is.

Been going here for almost a year now, worth every penny!

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU SIGN ANYTHING WITH THESE CROOKS

They will have you sign a month to month agreement that you need to give 45 days to cancel and their billing department is not internal, it is a debt collector (named Affiliated Acceptance Corporation...google it) that will charge you numerous fees. Their staff/salespeople will do anything to make you sign up and tell you that you can avoid yearly fees when you cant. Overall, buyer beware. Make sure you read the agreement and avoid the BS that I have had to deal with because once they have their hand in your pocket they will not take it out.

Thank you so much for the reviews! We just moved into Billerica and we're looking for a local gym to join and I wasn't very impressed with the two people behind the counter. They were unprofessional, tacky with their "negotiating" tactics on price... ie start up fee, month fee blah blah blah. No tour offered and just 1 sticky paper to write down the prices... what a joke!

I've had a membership at pro-fitnessplus from 2009-2012 and just had to cancel my membership. I ran into the same problem as the last person who left a review. The manager who I had to deal with was unbelievably rude and was yelling at me at times over the phone, would not let me get a word in when I was trying to explain something to her about my contract. She ended up actually hanging up the phone on me. I was simply stating to her that I wanted to fax over my contract to show her that I had put money down so that I could cancel at any time with no penalties and she refused to believe me. She said "I do not need you to fax it to me Linda because I know you do not have it." I am relieved to no longer be a part of this gym because if I had to deal with this woman again on a daily basis it would be a nightmare. Good luck to those who remain members!

Owner is Not Friendly & Change Prices On "Quotes" I Called One time & Got a Good Deal from a "Manager" went into Join & the Owner there, Changed the Deal & told Me the Manager Should have Never Offered Me that Deal Because He was Not Going to Do it.. As the Owner I think He Needs to Honor, Especially when I Had it in Writing from the Manager! Very Rude! Wanted to Get a Tour Of the Facility & He Told Me Go where you want & Look around, that is NOT a Tour, Left & Joined Planet Fitness! Much Happier..

Started here 2 months ago, $20 to start $20 a month. Most recent bill including yearly $40 fee and random charges bringin the total cost to $154. This would be a nice facilty if the staff and owners took care of the place. The showers have mold and there isnt enough cleaning gear around to take care of all the sweat left on equipment. Big gym, big problems. I don't recommend this place.
