Great studio with amazing instructors who are welcoming and motivating! I am so happy my friend introduced me to this place, it has been a great additional to my fitness routine and I enjoy ending the early morning workouts with views of the nearby ocean. Instructors have been able to modify exercises for me in a way that is challenging yet safe for my body and never make me feel negative for taking a more low impact approach. Thank you PG!

I’ve been coming to PG since 2020.

Besides the killer workouts, it’s great b/c there are no pretenses.. people of all shapes and sizes attend & are supported.

The instructors/coaches encourage everyone no matter where you are in your fitness/health journey

Proving Ground is the true definition of camaraderie!!

Proving Ground Studio is an incredible place to train. The instructors are not only knowledgeable but also encouraging, making every class approachable no matter your fitness level. What I love most is the variety of the strength classes—they keep workouts fresh and challenging, so you’re never stuck in the same routine. The energy in the studio is always positive, and you leave feeling stronger and motivated to come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for expert coaching and a great community!

I've been a member of "PG" for years, and for good reason.

First, the trainers are simply amazing. Every single one of them delivers a fantastic workout. They're also incredibly welcoming, they know you by name, and they'll take the time to answer questions or just chat.

Second, the workouts are perfect for any fitness level. Some days I feel strong, and other days, just showing up is the real victory. The trainers always offer modifications so you can get a great workout and still work toward your personal goals.

Lastly, the people here are the best. It's a real "PG family" with men and women of all ages, sizes and backgrounds. There's zero pretension - everyone is focused on their own workout, and if you're lucky enough to catch your breath for a quick chat, you'll find they're all super friendly.

This business continues to not give a crap about the residents that live around them. 2 years in and we are continued to be subjected too loud booming music at 6:00 in the morning. Soundproofing does not work if you have the garage door open. Which we have asked you to keep closed. People parking in our spaces and in front of our dumpster even though we have repeatedly asked the owner to tell them not to.
This business has been nothing but a negative to the people who have to live around it.

If you're looking for motivating, flexible group fitness classes in Hull, Proving Grounds is the place.

There are 27 classes per week — including Saturdays and Sundays — which makes it easy to stay consistent even with a full-time job and a Boston ferry commute. Booking classes through the mobile app is simple, and the workouts are instructor-led HIIT sessions that change daily, so you don’t get bored easily.

Compared to typical CrossFit boxes, Proving Grounds feels more accessible: more cardio, less heavy lifting, and a welcoming vibe that’s beginner-friendly. The Unlimited Membership is a better value ($185 vs. $220-240 at CrossFit gyms in the area), but honestly, the vibe and structure are what set it apart.

Two things especially keep me motivated:
- Reserving a spot makes it feel like a real commitment — much harder to bail than at an open gym.
- The “Wall of Commitment” celebrates hitting 100, 500, or even 1,000 classes, and seeing it really motivates you to stick with it.

Classes almost always have spots open (except maybe 6AM Fridays — but they just added an 8:15AM to help). I like that I can spontaneously sign up last minute. There’s even a sister gym in Quincy if that’s more convenient for you, though Hull works best for me.

If you want a supportive fitness community on the South Shore that actually fits into real life, Proving Grounds is it.

My elderly mom lives next door and is subject to extremely loud bass driven music almost every morning at 7 am or earlier! We tried to kindly speak to the person running this work out establishment, to ask if they could perhaps lower the intense music. The person that we spoke to was extraordinarily rude and thoroughly un-receptive of our request. all he cared about was the fact that he was allowed to play music that loud according to town statutes. did not even want to take his neighbors into consideration, people that have been living in this building for 20 years plus. very disappointed, but not surprised at the entitlement and disregard for others quality of life. hope everybody enjoys their work out knowing that they are disturbing good people who are just trying to live peacefully in their home.

After being too scared to walk through PG doors for years I tried it and regretted not coming sooner! It is a very challenging work out but in all the right ways. I can’t believe the strength I have already gained and love the atmosphere. Don’t wait.. try it. Thank you PG!
