Top notch operation. I’ve been going for about a year. I wanted something to supplement my running and now I prefer this over running. I came in with very little weight lifting experience and the coaches were and still are incredibly patient and welcoming. They actually check in frequently to ensure you are doing things correctly and want to help you meet your goals unlike other similar gyms that see you as revenue. The owner is heavily involved and knows all the members and checks in whenever you see him and has created a wonderful community. The saunas are a great perk. Glad I took a chance on it.

I started at Rebel with no prior experience in strength training and initially found it challenging to complete all the exercises in the workout. Now, just a month and a half later, I’m incredibly proud of the progress I’ve made. The team at Rebel is not only knowledgeable and supportive but genuinely celebrates every step forward, no matter how small. The community is equally amazing—everyone is friendly, welcoming, and encouraging. I always leave feeling better than when I walked in. I absolutely love Rebel Gym! I’ve been a member since it first opened, and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my health and fitness. Rich, the owner, is truly amazing—he’s kept me on track, especially during a time when I was out due to an injury (not gym-related!). He checked in on me regularly and never stopped offering support, which meant a lot.

The class setting is top-notch, filled with great energy and even better people. The music has definitely leveled up since our days of Eminem on repeat—haha, sorry Rich! I’ve lost a ton of weight and I’m continuing to get stronger every day. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a supportive, motivating, and fun fitness community!

Rich and team at Rebel are absolutely world class! Every coach here is among the best I have ever trained with. The upbeat and encouraging environment with a focus on pushing everyone is a great recipe for incredible workouts! On top of that, this gym truly goes above and beyond with planning workouts. There is always attention to detail with each class. Capping each class at 10 also feels like a perfect size class. Truly enjoy getting my ass kicked 5 days a week here!

My only regret is not joining sooner! I’ll admit that I was intimidated by this small group gym that I couldn’t walk into and inquire about, but the small classes (11 people max) are the best part! The owner, Rich, thoughtfully curates all of the classes and has a great team of coaches. All of the equipment is up to date, and the classes are repetitive enough to demonstrate a lot of progress, but variable enough to keep you interested and excited about the unknown of what you’re getting into that day. Having an infrared sauna to unwind with is great, too!

I jumped in with one of the transformation challenges offered to have progress tracked with in-body scans and nutrition support. This was helpful for getting started, but the classes and good atmosphere are definitely what will keep me around for as long as I’m living in Southie!

Rich Rowland and Rebel Athletic Club are simply the best! He is the most engaged, skilled, and effective personal coach I have ever worked with. Over the course of the past four months, Rich has dramatically increased my strength, range of motion, and stability while exercising. I have never felt better. The one-on-one sessions with Rich fly by even though they are jam packed. He has an incredibly knack of increasing the work you are doing while making these tough sessions truly fun. I genuinely look forward to each workout!

Friends also attend his classes at Rebel Athletic Club and all have said the same. The small group classes are challenging, effective, and incredibly engaging.

I absolutely love this gym! I've been going for almost 2 months now and I've noticed such a difference in my strength and muscle tone. The trainers are great and very engaged throughout the class, correcting form and giving motivation. I highly recommend this gym to all my friends especially those that have busy schedules and lack motivation to push themselves at a standard gym. These classes are quick but killer and you'll leave dripping in sweat each time.

I went to Rebel for more than a year and was a regular member (I took more than 200 classes).

I'm moving out of state, so I asked Rich to cancel my membership 11 days before I needed it to end. It renewed anyway and I got an email from him on the day it renewed (hours after I was charged for the month) and he said sorry, and that he missed the email. I asked for a refund on the charge that went through, since with my move I wouldn't have time to go to any classes. He didn't respond, and also didn't respond to two follow-up emails.

Now, a month later, I still haven't received a refund.

About fifteen days after the first email, my membership was cancelled (halfway through the month I paid for), but I still didn't receive an update from Rich on the charge.

At this point it seems clear I won't get my money back. I'm not sure why it was necessary to take money from me on a membership I did not need or use. Sending an email with a reason or an update takes a few minutes, but I didn't even get that courtesy.

I hope that $200 was worth destroying a relationship with a loyal and satisfied member. A move across the country comes with enough stress and this just added more to the situation.

I joined Rebel Athletic Club as a member six months ago to prioritize more strength training in my workout routine and have seen more improvements during my time as a member than in any other fitness routine I’ve committed to. I love the consistent circuit formats of the classes and the thoughtfully curated workouts. There is a clear focus with each individual exercise, the overall circuit and the week-over-week progressions. I really like the small class size because of the focus the trainers are able to have on correcting and improving your form. The trainers are all amazing and bring a unique style to their classes and an energy that will motivate anyone to commit to that early morning workout. What I love most about Rebel is the great community of trainers and members that Rich and team have created. If you are looking to level up your fitness with intentional and challenging workouts in a really welcoming and fun environment, I highly recommend joining Rebel.

I’m always skeptical of smaller class gyms. Most of the time they are too easy or focus too much on plyometrics. But Rich and Rebel really know how to build strength. The classes are small (10 max) and they are focused on building strength with machines. The trainers will help correct form and give you almost personal training feel. Plus they have IR saunas and a soon to open back patio for more athletic training. Think sleds, tires, etc. 10/10 great gym. For beginners and regulars.

I love Rebel so much. RAC is exactly what I needed to add to my workout routine. It’s a perfect mix of an amazing community and gym feeling while also feeling like you are getting personal training. I absolutely love this gym. I have belonged to several gyms in the area, but this gym is a level above all others. For the first time ever, I look forward to waking up early on Monday mornings to go to class. (I used to have a no workout Monday rule). After only a few months, I have never felt better, seen as much progress and still find each class to be new, exciting and challenging. Rich and the team are incredible - constantly motivating you and correcting your form, and wow what a difference that makes. And the vibe is awesome, they have truly built a community feel. When was the last time the person next to you at a gym introduced themselves and gave you a high-five when you both survived class. Do not skip or hesitate on this place. It's life changing.

Great strength and conditioning workouts. The small classes allow for more of hands on experience with the coaches. During the workout I've appreciated the adjustments to my form. Rich and the Rebel crew have changed everything about my fitness irreversibly. I have a history of lower back injury from sports so am super mindful of exercises that work and don’t work for me, and was skeptical that I’d be able to swing these workouts consistently— from the second I walked through those doors and met Rich, he’s paid personalized attention to my form, teaching me the explanations behind every movement, and has made this place my favorite part of every day. He’s hilarious, so genuine and knowledgeable, and has created a village of Rebels who are supportive and judgment free — classes are FUN, fast and so effective, because he (and all the coaches) design them specifically each day. I love it here! Every class is unique and led by an encouraging coach that pays close attention to your technique. Rich (the founder) programs all the classes, his attention to detail and knowledge is unparalleled! Music pumps, vibe is positive, machines and infrared saunas are top notch. The classes have a maximum of ten people which feels more like personal training. The class schedule is built around alternating muscle groups combining speed days and heavy lifting days; as a member you can reserve your spot two weeks in advance. Some of my favorite attributes of RAC is the diversity of the members. Everyone is also so kind and driven! In the 18 or so weeks of consistently getting to class four times a week I can confidently say I am twice as strong as when I started.

Great place! As a "senior", I was a bit reluctant to join being a bit concerned over the demographics. HOWEVER, feel right at home with everyone. Great social atmosphere. Classes are well prepared and you are kept totally motivated throughout the class. Best of all, if you are not quite doing the exercise correctly you are guided "one on one" on the proper technique. Something I find very important to maximize the workout and avoid injury. Bob
