Great setting, friendly staff! Nice variety in the bouldering area, and there are both top rope and autobelays. The top rope wall is pretty short so the climbs feel bouldery

Best setting ever! I don’t tend to leave reviews, but this place deserves it. I loved the variety of climbs and holds. Everything I tried was engaging, interesting, and felt accurately graded. Plenty of traverses too, which lots of gyms lack. I was there while they were resetting and it was great to watch the crew do their thing - they clearly know what they are doing! The girl at the front desk was also super sweet and helpful. I’ll be going far out of my way to come back here for sure!

No volveremos.

Well, I did not get a chance to experience the facility with my kids. I was looking for a new activity for my girls. So, I did a google searched of the rock climbing place near my home and this rock climbing place popped up. I decided to go see if I could get a tour of the place before my girls gymnastics class. Overall, the woman I spoke to was very friendly, knowledgeable and nice. She gave us a great tour. I asked her a few questions but she wasn’t sure. She said that her manager was coming in later and was going to email me with the answers. A day past and no answer. Despite her not responding to me, i decided to give her another chance. I called and wanted to set up a trial class for my kids. She said she has to find out from the two instructors and see if they can do it this Saturday. I said sure. I asked her are you going to call me later tonight to let me know so I can setup the time. Again, I did not get a call back that night nor the day after. Honestly, after these two mishaps. I will not sign my kids up for this place. The lack of professional courtesy phone call or email left me a bad taste in my mouth. So, I would not recommend this place only because of that reason.

Very well-set bouldering routes. We climbed for 90 minutes attempting routes mostly V0-V4, and there was a very good variety of routes, with satisfying difficulty. It was very fun and satisfying bouldering here.

How many amazing things can I see about this facility? When my wife and daughter first came here in the summer of 2022, we were greeted by one of the managers, John, and instantly felt welcomed as new rock climbers. He was so great with my daughter who is neuro-diverse and was so kind, loving, and understanding of her needs. From that day on we became a rock climbing family and have since gotten memberships, had my daughter's birthday party at Rock Spot, and have continued to engage in bouldering as a form of fitness and recreation. I've been to other Rock Spot locations as well, but our hearts are still firmly here at the Dedham branch because of people like John and Frank who make us feel like a part of a larger family. All the other staff have been great too and my daughter has loved being part of the Little Senders class as well. The people here really make it such a safe space to be yourself and to engage in a love of climbing!

Great team building.

Our leadership team went there to do some physical team building exercise. It was fun and exhaustive (for our hands). They have friendly staff who guides you throughout.

Great for kids as well I imagine. Don't fear falling down - they have got it covered.

We’ve always been big fans of Rock Spot! The staff are always very professional, kind, and knowledgeable. Our great experience continued even more this week when our 7 1/2 year old has been attending their rock climbing camp at the gym. The camp is a great combination of instruction in rock climbing, fun games, and time for art/hanging out. A great balance of structure in a relaxing atmosphere. A special shout out to Dan & Bill and all the instructors for making it a great experience for our son.

This place is wonderful. Excellent experience; both with our daughter’s 8 year old birthday party a couple of years ago and then summer/vacation camps and weekly classes that both our kids have done since then. Clean facility and bathrooms with terrific staff who are friendly and focused on safety. I love the low ratio of instructors to students and how passionate they are about climbing!

We came in for the night owl deal which is $10 after 10pm. The staff was helpful in explaining everything. He went over the equipment, safely and which parts that we were able to climb. We got a soild hour and half in. The place is run well. Not issues to record

We celebrated my son’s 9th Birthday at Rock Spot yesterday. And I have to say they made entertaining, challenging and wearing out 16 very high-energy 3rd graders incredibly easy. They did everything so we could just show up and enjoy the fantastic space. Our group had three dedicated staff who knew how to get the kids engaged with top-notch and safe instruction. The party room up stairs was spacious and set up with table cloths, plates, cutlery, balloons and gift bags complete with t-shirts for everyone. They arranged for the pizzas that were actually quite good and not marked up ridiculously. In fact I don't think they were. They also can provide drinks and the cake. But we decided that was the least we could do. That said, everything was very reasonable compared to other venues we have celebrated at. Oh, and the communication from start to finish was one of the best experiences I have ever had. If you’re looking for a turnkey, stress free and fun birthday party for your kids I highly recommend Rock Spot.

This space is nothing short of amazing! I am rather new to climbing but have found myself coming to this gym on a weekly basis and looking forward to it!

The bouldering options are really fun and every week one section gets reset so there is always a new route to project!

There are a lot of autobelays so you can climb alone but there are also a good amount of ropes to top rope with others!

The staff here is absolutely beautiful~ they create such a welcoming community and are incredibly helpful, cordial, educated, and approachable!

This gym has quickly become a second home and I highly recommend it to everyone~ from new to seasoned to experienced climbers!!

BOULDERING: Every week, one (of six) section of the wall is reset, providing enough time to project and frequent fresh problems. There seems to be a good mix of difficulties for all levels.
TOP ROPE: About 40% of the tope rope walls have auto-belays, which is great if you're climbing alone. They're not the tallest walls but I've never really had to sit around and wait for someone to finish as most people come to boulder.
STAFF: This is definitely what separates this gym. They've been amazingly warm, helpful and welcoming — which really makes me, as a beginner, feel like I belong. It seems like the staff makes an effort to remember members' names and there's always someone around in case you need anything. Sometimes, I'll be on a wall struggling and, out of nowhere, I can hear one of the staff members shout encouragement at me. Cannot say enough nice things about them and how receptive they've been, especially towards my frequent suggestions.
OTHER: M/W from 5pm-7pm or so is usually when the team kids are there, so it can be crowded during those times but they've been respectful to share the space and I regularly hear the coaches remind them that it is shared space. The lifting area has 430ish pounds of plates, one barbell and a bench, with limited dumbbells — the area overall is quite small but aside from the team kids, I've never seen anyone else use it. There are one or two cardio machines upstairs. T/Th are more of the adult crowd; other members I've spoken to at those times have been very nice. Weekends have been practically empty aside from the occasional birthday party. The store area has all the essentials but not a huge variety to choose from. There are M/W bathrooms and a changing room, but no showers. No lockers but enough cubbies for storage.

Rockspot is great. Staff is super helpful, bouldering is great. Routes aren't refreshed super often, and there's often a lot of kids here, but if you come late night during the week it should be fine.

Rock Spot is a terrific, relaxed gym. The atmosphere is friendly, they have a nice gear shop, free yoga classes, easy parking (and a short walk from the Reading commuter rail station). My son has been going there for four years and we know the place inside and out. They really do strive to welcome all ages and all talents, as their slogan goes.

Love rock spot's routes. Walls are a little short but not much can be done about that in that location

I'm biased since this was the first gym I started climbing at but I love it. Lots of bouldering (think shorter climbing walls without rope with a mat flooring to absorb your fall) and with that, lots of topping out.

Topping out: depends on who you are, but lots of rock gyms just have some tape at the top marking the last hold or place to put your hands, but this gym lets you climb over the wall (and then take a staircase down one side). Might be scary at first but feels great to finish a climb and get over the wall.

I find the environment really chill and lots of friendly climbers. And it never seemed to be too crowded for me. You see all levels of climbers there.

I give it a 5, but there are some things you might not like:

On the weekends in the morning there can be a lot of little kids running around. The staff and parents do a good job of giving you space but there is the occasional overly excited kid who will run close by you :). Once you get used to it it's kinda nice seeing all the kids having a good time.

Top-rope is pretty short. You probably don't want to go there if you don't like bouldering and want to climb some bigger walls. Nice for people scared of going too high though. There are still challenging routes, just closer to the ground.

The gym's been around for a bit so holds can feel a bit more used/greasier than those newer gyms. I feel like it just adds to the challenge and keeps your hands from tearing apart, but you might like the idea of having stickier holds. Idk.

All in all, I really like this place: relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, interesting terrain and routes :).

Uniquely positive experience. Knowledgeable, friendly staff, routes change often, membership benefits are considerable (free yoga classes and guest passes, etc.), and the place is always kept clean and in good repair.

If you don't like bouldering and you are an advanced climber you will quickly find yourself bored. The walls with belays aren't very tall, and 1/4 of them are covered in 'automatic' belays which they show you how to use. However, if you want to use the other 3/4 of the walls (the ones with normal belays) you have to pay for a 45 minute lesson or take a test. Would've taken the test but that would've been useless since the person I was with wouldn't have passed the test. A lot of bouldering walls which don't require a harness or any experience.

Our 7yo son loves this place, and we do too. The staff is so nice -- they are really supportive of a new young climber and have given him lots of cheers and tips along the way. The people who climb here are really nice, too. Just a great place to spend time. There are lots of types of challenges on both sides of the gym -- bouldering or belay -- and they do birthday parties and yoga classes in the loft area overlooking the climbing area. Highly recommended!

Rockspot is a fun little gym that is in a convenient location - easier to get to Dedham than into Boston and there's a lot more parking! The staff there was great and one staff member that did our belay test spend a significant amount of extra time with us since we were taught to belay differently at a different gym. He did not need to do this and the extra effort was definitely noted!
