I came here to try bouldering out. Prior to bouldering, I was 5β7β, weighed roughly 149 lbs, was chronically addicted to black and milds, and had zero hobbies that made me an interesting member of society. Day to day, I was merely a moving shell of a human being that could just barely blend into its surroundings. After a swift and brilliantly presented beginnerβs orientation, the lights to life that I had only ever dreamed of began to shine like never before. Rock after rock, climb after climb, I was recalibrating my entire body. Even after two hours of incessant climbing, the cheers of my fellow boulderers caused all my soreness to dissipate. At long lastβ¦ I was motivated and driven to become a better version of myself everyday. Most of all, I met who I firmly believe is the love of my life. She did not care that I showed up to this bouldering gym looking like a lifeless vessel. She saw through it all and knew that I was genuinely capable of breaking free of everything that held me back through all these years: my crippling black and mild addiction, my lack of physical activity, and my previous relationship that left me in shambles. With all this being said, I am now 5β8β, weigh roughly 165 lbs, am a huge Tyler, the Creator fan, and feel stronger and happier than ever. Thank you, Rock Spot Malden, for being the first major push for me to become the man I am today.

It's overall good for a small bouldering gym. Nothing to complain. Less crowded, clean, soft mat, beginner friendly but also has hard routes, there's strength training area. I went to bouldering project and most of CRG cites and this is the closest gym to me and I am happy to climb and train here

Small bouldering gym with a great community. Great little training nook with a 2016 moonboard, a decoy board, free weights and lots of training accessories.

Rock Spot Malden really crushed it! Fun routes, clean space, and Bobby was the real MVP whoβs always ready to chalk it out with helpful tips.

Good place for beginners, could use more V1s and 2s tho. They currently have $18 night owl passes after 9pm so definitely give it a try.

Very disapointed. I had a groupon. No ropes for saftey. They offered me a pass to South Boston.
I did not want to schlep into town.
Groupon should do a better job of advertising.
Nice staff, but not what i expected

My main bouldering gym is Rock Spot South Boston, but was in the area and had the opportunity to try out their Malden location! I like how it is right in front of the train station - makes getting to very simple. Compared to South Boston, the location is more modern but also smaller - maybe 60% of the total bouldering space, and no top roping. That being said, the quality of the routes are just as I expected and actually found a lot of the problems to offer a lot of unique challenges compared to the South Boston location. And the staff and amenities are just as quality! Overall, even if I stick with South Boston as my main gym, I definitely see myself coming up to Malden every so often when I get bored of the problems.

Phenomenal experience! The climbs were pretty fun with a nice combination of technique and strength. But most importantly, the vibes were immaculate, didnβt feel judged and everyone was so supportive. Went with friends and made a few more with frequents that were both helpful and insightful.
Big shout out to Karl, on the far left of the photo, who staffed the gym Thursday night. He was super nice and friendly, really making sure we had everything we needed(right fitting equipment and advice for climbs when we needed it)
Would come back in a heart beat! :)

Lovely bouldering only gym! Although itβs small, they change the problems relatively frequently so it doesnβt get boring quickly. Keep it up! Open to 11PM which is great. And the mat is softer than CRG. A lot of easier grades so good for beginners and donβt feel like theyre designed for tall people only. I would say the grades are overall softer than the other gyms around Boston (CRGs), which isnβt necessarily a bad thing especially if you want an ego boost.
Some critiques: this gym doesnβt provide free chalk compared to other climbing gyms in Boston. The membership price is comparable but rentals are extra ($20/mo per person), most avid climbers probably have their own gears but rentals should be included for people with memberships.

Went there yesterday did not like it at all and the price they charge is ridiculously high 36 dollars and the place is sooo small the staff was very nice but they shouldn't charge that much to climb robbery don't go here waist of money and your hands hurt after so boring never again. Waist of money

Out of all the Rock Spot Climbing locations in MA, this is by far my least favorite one. It is the tiniest and most boring one of all. Only bouldering. Went on a Saturday morning and it was quiet and honestly depressing. I felt bad for the staff. Plenty of street parking and restaurants around and commute on T is easy as Malden T station is literally across the street.

Alec, Grace and Tina are very kind and helpful. Facilities are clean, thereβs constantly challenging stuff to keep you stimulated but itβs great for beginners like me because the people are willing to teach.

Love this gym! Friendly environment, knowledgeable staff, and reasonable setting.
Tina and Jose have been a wealth of knowledge as I've been learning to climb. Honestly they turned a passing curiosity into a 3x weekly routine with a membership :)

Boutique rock climbing gym, but with everything you need. I like it opens until 11pm so late night workout is great, and the climbing routes gets changed once a while so you have new challenges, I can only climb level 1-2 with occasional 3s, but still a good selection of routes. Convenient location too!

This has become my main climbing gym from the instant I got the intro. There is only bouldering at this gym, but the community and the staff here cannot be beat at any other climbing gym. Everyone is so welcoming and excited to talk about their favorite activity.
There is a reason why staff from all the other gyms in the area come here to get some chill climbing in.

Great bouldering gym with fun route-setting and a super convenient location!
It's kinda expensive though. A month-to-month family membership here costs the same as a much larger rock gym nearby, and there is no discount for buying the membership annually.
Paying more while losing the option for auto-belay, top-rope, and lead is tough.

Explored other climbing gyms around the area and this was my favorite! **Bouldering only at this location ** The staff is friendly and super helpful. There is a great number of bouldering problems so there is always something to work on. Definitely worth checking out if you are interested :)

Very cool place, it tends to be a little expensive but it's a nice place to go rock climbing for a day to hang out with friends or go alone! It does not have a harness though as the rock wall doesn't ascend too high.

Great gym! Staff is excellent. They've only been open two months and have already re-set one of the walls so they're serious about keeping good routes up. They have cardio equipment and a free-weight area in addition to the climbing walls so you can still work out on your "off" climbing days as well.

Had a lot of fun trying to rock climb with a friend. We're both pretty athletic people, and this was still quite challenging for us.
The wall is only 15 feet high, so no ropes are used. They have padded mats to soften your landing if you fall.
There are six difficulty levels of routes up to the top of the wall. Each route is color coded, so you know which features to use for each route. There were about 6 or 7 routes for each difficulty.
We were able to complete all of the level ones, and about half of the level twos. The level ones were all pretty easy, with good handholds and an obvious path to the top. The level twos involved a lot more challenging holds with just your fingers, and you needed to think a lot more about where to place each hand and foot. Some of the level twos required more strength, others needed more balance, and some seemed completely impossible.
We also watched some other climbers attempt a level six. They looked like Spider-Man, I have no idea how they were staying on the wall.
We climbed for about an hour and a half. That's when our forearms and hands were getting twitchy as our strength gave out.
Overall, it was super fun. Seems like a great wall for beginners to get into climbing, with some real challenges for more advanced climbers.

This place is down the road from us and my pre-schooler is hooked! They were so helpful and attentive to him, only his second time climbing. Easy to work with, welcoming, and a great, convenient spot that isn't trying to overdo it (as so many other climbing gyms are). Got some passes and will surely become members when those are done!

Really exceeded expectations! They did a great job with a pretty limited space. The setting was fun, fresh holds, a good training area.
Another great addition to downtown Malden!
