Ruth Fitness is a local gym dedicated to helping you achieve your fitness goals. Founded by Mike Ruth in 2018 with the philosophy of providing a holistic approach to training and exercise. Walk-ins are welcome, and the first session is on us, we are located in the basement (Studio B).

Great local gym, big focus on community and group activity. Was having trouble getting into the habit of working out again but been really enjoying going in to workout with other gym goers. Really fun environment, supportive environment, especially the boxing days. Mike and Lauren really got me in shape for my wedding and been really happy with my results.

I 1000% recommend going to the Ruth Fitness gym! Not only is it affordable it’s a nonjudgmental environment. Mike (Ruth Fitness) treats and respects everyone the same. The people that workout at the gym are friendly and encouraging. Mike takes time to work with everyone in the gym giving them a proper 1on1. Mike knows how to bring people together, and build a strong community; where everyone at the gym knows each other and helps each other out. He really knows his fitness and you can see the passion for it when he breaks it down to you. He also teaches us boxing and self defense. If you’re looking for a personal trainer Mike is the person for you.

This is a fantastic place to set and meet your fitness goals. I have been lifting with Mike for a year now and I am curling weight that I used to bench, benching weight that I used to squat, and squatting weight that I thought was impossible.

ill tell you wHat. as you descend the stairs into mikes gym the lights are bright and the temperature drops a degree or two, the transition sets the tone. Mikes expecting you and has curated a workout specific to your needs and goals. First you have to lift heavy weights, mike shows you how to do this to maximize reults safely. Hes huge so you feel pretty safe if hes spotting, even with weight you didn’t expect. Then you put on gloves and the fun starts. Mike is trained in mixed martial arts and shows you how to compete athletically and in self defense. In addition he has let me hit him as hard as I can, in pads, it is fun, stress relieving, and good for you. I first met mike at a martial arts class at MG fitness in 2017, it ran once a week and there was a great community of athletes. When mike started Ruth Fitness he fostered a similar community, people pushing each other to be the best they can. Hopefully one day you and I will shake hands, I do afternoon workouts mon/wed and morning fri/sat (some sat off, if mike let me slide). Woud most def recommend.

If you're looking for a fun, affordable, and motivating fitness community - look no further! I trained with Mike for about 9 months during my last year of grad school. He does an excellent job of bringing people together and making your workouts enjoyable, while still pushing you to reach your fitness goals. He offers a variety of workouts from traditional weights to kick boxing and circuit trainings. One of the best things about this place (apart from the AMAZING student discount) is the flexibility. Mike truly cares about his clients and will work with you to accommodate your schedule to ensure you get the most out of your experience. Highly recommend!

Highly, highly recommend Ruth Fitness! I started back in Jan. 2022 and its been the best gym experience I've had. Mike is really great at meeting you where you are fitness-wise and caters the experience to your personal needs/goals. The community is really welcoming and friendly and Mike does an excellent job of making you feel comfortable right from the start. There's a mix of college and grad students and professionals, so its been nice making friends, while also getting personal attention and specified workouts from Mike. Anyone looking for a reasonably priced gym experience, this is your place :)

Mike is really helpful and easy to work with. He's always accommodated my unusual schedule and can do anything from dedicated 1-on-1 training sessions to letting me use the space when I need it. Amazing personal training!
Mike pushes you to be the best athlete you can be. He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and motivating. He not only ensures you reach your fitness goals, but helps you exceed them (all while having fun!). I've learned so much from Mike, from how to box to proper weight lifting form.

Can't recommend Ruth Fitness enough! 5 stars!!!
I have tried a number of gyms over the years, but Ruth Fitness really ticked all the boxes for me. They offer a wide variety of training packages (tailored towards your goals), dietary advice and some of the best self defense and combat training in Boston! Not only that, but Mike done a great job at providing an environment that was friendly and encouraging, which made the training super fun!
I had been struggling to get the motivation to train this time last year after having suffered a knee injury. Mike specifically developed a training regime to meet my goals, and 7 months later... I have lost 30 pounds, gained muscle in all areas and becoming fitter, healthier and happier by the day!

Listen Mike Ruth is the real deal. Stop looking on Instagram and YouTube what this person says your body type needs to work on and what food you can and can’t eat and how much time you should be in the gym. If you want to get healthy and change your life, try Ruth Fitness. I’ve been with Mike for about 4 years now and he’s taught me and pushed me more than I ever thought I could go. Mike helped me break numerous personal records workouts such as deadlifts, pull ups, and benching months before I thought I would reach my goal. Oh and one other thing, if you’re trying to learn boxing or a mixed mma style of fighting, this is you guy. I had never thought of every touching that stuff in my life until Mike convinced me to come by for a class. No one ever really messed with me in life but I’ve always been a skinny kid with not much muscle. After training with Mike he’s changed all that and I’m confident to say it wouldn’t be a good idea to touch me with the stuff he’s taught me. Ever since then I’ve fallen in love with the sport and swear by it as my #1 choice for cardio hands down. This guy is a professional and if you come to him with you goals he’ll make sure they come true.

Tremendous gym and training programs. The training I received here has been better for my shoulder (and more affordable) than the PT I did for years, and I've been coached to build muscle mass I didn't even know I was capable of building. Highly recommend! 11 out of 10! 6 out of 5 stars!

Mike will absolutely get you to reach your goals, I’ve never been stronger in my life than when I started working with him and I owe all of my personal record lifts to his coaching and training strategies. Training with Mike Ruth can seriously change your life. I’ve been training with him for over 2 years and I’ve lost over 40 pounds with his help. I had absolutely no athletic ability prior to training with him and had rarely set foot in a gym previously. He made me feel at home in the gym and introduced me to boxing, which I loved right away. And the people there are really welcoming so it’s easy to make friends. I’ve gotten stronger, thinner, and more confident with Mike’s guidance and I’d encourage anyone trying to lose weight or gain strength to try out a session with him.

Five stars isnt enough for this man. I've been working with mike for the past 3 years and no one has ever deserved five stars more than him. Between the personal training and boxing classes over the years, my strength, endurance, and self confidence has skyrocketed. Mike has also taken the time to help grow a community out of his clients while still managing to give everyone the 1 on 1 time they need. I went in for a trial session, and it was amazing. Mike and Steph were incredibly encouraging and gave me an intense workout. They gave concrete instructions and demonstrations to ensure my form was correct. I left feeling refreshed and motivated. I am planning to sign on for more sessions in the future.

Mike has helped me recover from an extensive reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. When I came into his gym, I was walking with a significant limp and I could barely stand for more than 10 minutes. My foot was in constant pain. Now, not only am I able to walk without limping, but I can move around the boxing ring and deadlift over 200 pounds.

Mike has really helped to change my life, went from being overweight to being lean and muscular (215 lbs to 185lbs) in the last 6 months. Mike is patient and considerate in how he trains which has helped make the experience at the gym that much better. Can't recommend this place enough
