This place is wonderful because while the adults are in the gym, the children can be in the pool and the little ones in the daycare. The best!

High quality exercise classes with many opportunities to attend every day. I also very much appreciate the E-gym that makes strength training (weight machines) user friendly and personalized by setting up the machines to fit my size and poundage with a tap of my wrist band. Instructors and staff are also top notch. I have only positive things to comment on after 10 years of active membership.

just want to express a big thank you to Director Katelyn. Even though I didn’t have an appointment and it wasn’t a huge matter, she still took the time to sit with me. She was so polite, humble, and genuinely kind. Thank you — it meant so much to me.

It’s rare these days, because status often changes how people treat others. But she reminded me that true leadership comes with humility and respect. 🌷

We love our Level 1 swim class — it’s taught really well, and the facilities are perfect for the number of families participating. We’re also excited to start using the daycare services. The gym is super clean, and the equipment is really well kept. Overall, it’s been such a great experience so far!

I wouldn’t usually post a bad review, but the customer service here is undeniably abhorrent. My daughter was belittled during her gymnastics class, the course Director was somewhat apologetic, but when I asked to be refunded for the classes that she did not attend, not the full course mind you, for the classes that she did not attend, I was given a credit. I thought that I had processed my cancellation of membership correctly, and I just went about my business. I figured at some point I could use that credit for something else in the future maybe one of the kids wanted to take a overpriced soccer class with a bunch of teenagers, teaching, barely, but then decided against it.I reached out to the director Alexandra Fontes, and she was extremely rude, and told me that since I did not process my cancellation of membership correctly that the credits would go to my back payments. Mind you this was in July or June? It is now the middle of October. We haven’t been back, they refuse to refund me, and at this point, it’s really not about the money! It’s really about knowing exactly who you’re supporting, and how little they offer. Sidenote, my children took a swim class here last year, and the instructors were incredibly rude to my children! My children who have never swam, they also told my children that they couldn’t use the restroom and that they were big enough to hold it. I’m not exactly sure why these classes are overpriced, since they are not really taught anything, and this is coming from someone who has had YMCA memberships and three different states, and multiple times in my life. As a child I remember going to the YMCA and it was so much fun! The two facilities that I’ve experienced, including this one here in Massachusetts have been disgusting. Filthy, smelly, rude stuff. Do not waste your money! They do less good than what you think they do.

My child had finally persuaded me to let her go to the ymca, which mind you, I think 30 dollars a month is way too much for their service. As they also always close some activity areas for other programs. Why would I pay that much just to not be able to use the area I bought the pass for? I let my child sign up with my card info and they demanded a parent. I work 7 days a week for my family and do not have the time to help my child receive a card. The attitude they had was terrible and even though I had paid online, they still didn't let my child in! I wonder how this branch is still thriving after losing so many customers, the workers at the front desk are horrendous! They didn't even let my child get a guest pass without a parent! Mind you that is 10 dollars just for a day pass, 1/3 of a monthly subscription! Overpriced, terrible workers, always closing activity areas for other programs, what a "good" place to be at.

TERRIBLE ATTITUDE! Never come to this ymca, the front desk lady was so rude! I was simply asking a question and she started cutting me off with a annoyed attitude too! I really hope the ymca clears out workers like this because my past experiences with previous workers were well. Specifically the blonde lady at the front desk, she was super rude and a lot of people said they had the same experience with her. Her attitude is horrible and her service, I hope they don't let more people like her in.

I pay $150 a month, and over the past two weeks there have been repeated pool closures, locker room restrictions, and canceled group classes due to studio construction. Despite being a member (with my family) since the 1990s, no compensation or credit was offered for the disruption. Very disappointing treatment of longtime members.

Toxic environment. I have paid years of memberships but only been used frequently recent months. For the past one month, I have experienced at least ten boys(6yr+) using girls shower/changing room. The moms whoever brought their boys in said they have been doing this for years. Nobody cares. Nothing changed after I reported this issue to the front desk. When my disappointment reached the threshold, I asked the front desk about the cancellation process. And wow, the guy at the front desk was so rude, like no class rude. I heard the Hale family donated a lot into this site. Well, I hope they feel worth it. Because this site is a black hole.

- Family bathroom always smell so bad & so dirty, not enough showers could use some upgrade/renewed, thats why we also have to join weymouth club for clean pool & bathrooms

- Pool is over booked by classes/swim team & they should test students to see what level they are suppose to be in for classes. My son's teacher spent a good 7 mins to teach one of them how to kick & hand placement in a advance class I believe students should already know the basic in advance classes

-There used to be hot food but now it's just venting machine that don't have much choices & sometimes it doesn't work

-Family membership $123/mo for basically just discounted kids classes, so sad!

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but my experience on July 2nd during the Kids Summer Camp at this facility was deeply concerning.

While on-site, I overheard a couple of staff members yelling at children and using highly inappropriate language—words I won’t even repeat here. They were speaking disrespectfully, referring to kids as “bro,” among other offensive terms. Alarmed, I immediately asked to speak with a manager. Although I could see staff in various office rooms, the receptionist told me no one was available.

I also tried reaching the Summer Camp director by phone on four separate occasions, left a voicemail, and received no response. I followed up with an email a few days later, and even after a full week, I still haven’t heard back.

Because of this, I feel obligated to warn other parents: please be cautious when enrolling your child in camps like this one. Based on my experience, it seems staff accountability and concern for children’s wellbeing are lacking.

On a separate note, I also noticed many unsupervised kids on the second floor using weight equipment incorrectly, which is another safety issue that deserves attention.

That said, the facility itself has great infrastructure—it’s unfortunate the management and supervision don’t match the same standard.

The Quincy Y is a warm & welcoming place for people of all ages, color and income-levels. It is my favorite go-to place for swims, indoor-walks & to just chat with friends & ex-coworkers. The Directors and employees are kind, hard-working and always ready to greet and help in any way they can. The vibe of the place is so positive and I can say it is my happy place, Thank you Hale YMCA for being there for the Community and for all the opportunities & activities you provide to families & individuals. I would have given the Y a higher mark but the atmosphere is horrible. They have plenty of machines to work out on. Plenty of parking. They need an adult area. There are way too many kids running around on the 2nd floor unsupervised. Tonight, a mother let her 5 year old on a treadmill and he was just being a brat. Children should stay on the 1st floor.

The Y was an oasis during my postpartum. Unfortunately, if you have to cancel your membership and don't have the agreement you signed a year ago it can only be cancelled in person. I called several times and couldn't get in touch with anyone. I eventually sent an email and still didn't receive a response.

Due to physical limitations I couldn't go there sooner. Which is partially why I told staff I wouldn't renew my financial assistance membership. I finally went and all they could offer was a cancellation for 2025. This was then escalated to the associate director who provided a partial refund.

It's just disheartening to see the greed and exploitation from a nonprofit organization that promotes wellbeing and community. They could see I have not used their facility since 8/19 and would not honor it. There is what is written and then there is what is right. I'm just another number.

Wouldn’t suggest letting your kids play basketball here. It’s supposed to be an open rec gym, but you most likely will have grown men hijacking every main hoop in the building and will yell at younger hoopers to get off of the side courts making up mundane rules that the court is for games only during rec hours and the side hoops aren’t allowed to be used.

Even at peak times there is always machine/equipment availability. Clean well run facility- but handling of crowds was my biggest concern and (aside from parking lot getting crazy at times) is not an issue at all.

Only complaint is they have a beautiful turf/Olympic style cross training area (sled, power racks, box jump) that is constantly being used by people stretching, doing sit ups and/or other movements that have nothing to do with equipment contained in this area. To be fair this is more about the users than the facility- but I needed to vent.

I am writing a review about one of the employees at the Quincy YMCA, his name is Dom and he works in the basketball area. I have been going to the Quincy YMCA since I was a child, and I am almost 60 now. Most of the time I come in and get my workout done and don't talk to too many people, but I noticed that Dom was a real nice guy and he was very service-oriented and hospitable and we got to know each other.

Dom really seems to care about the members and especially helpful to the kids that go there, and I see that they look up to him. He has helped me with a number of things since I have been there. Now that I have gotten to know Dom, I look forward to seeing him, and chatting with him when I workout which has made my workout a much more enjoyable experience. Because of him I have gotten to know some others whom I am sure I wouldn't have met otherwise. I just wanted to give him a quick shoutout because he seems like a good employee and person, and the type of employee the YMCA can use to help improve the center

This place is overcrowded and not well maintained like the Hanover Y. The men's locker room has a sour/moldy smell like expired milk. The sauna isn't clean and the wood benches in the sauna are loose. It feels like they can break at any moment if there's too much weight.

Once it's around 9:00-9:15 they start kicking everyone out of the Quincy YMCA so the employees can leave at exactly 9:30 like they are in a rush to get home. At the Hanover Y, there are actually employees cleaning around the pool area past 9:30 and they don't rush you to leave before it's actually 9:30. I've never seen people stay past 9:30 to do any cleaning at the Quincy YMCA which is probably why the place feels and smells so gross.

Worst gym and irresponsible staff. I had an experience when I left my sunglasses to the person behind the front desk and they said ok we can guard them and after less than half an hour they were stolen, justifying that we don't know who took them and that the cameras don't work. Who knew that the cameras did not work except for their own staff? This gym is not safe and the staff is very irresponsible and very harsh because they steal from them and they justify that it is not their job to guard them but I left the sunglasses to them and they told me that they can guard them otherwise I wouldn’t left my sunglasses to them.

The Y is the best! Best vibe for a gym. It’s a community center, and it shows. I love the Egym for strength training (so easy to use for keeping track of form and progress) and I love the indoor track. There’s always something going on at the Y, but it never feels crowded. My favorite gym in the area by far, and so affordable.

The review is only about the swimming pool. The main pool not open for a member at all times. We need to check the online calendar what timing they have open lanes to go. Even after do so, the lanes are not open at those hours. Why is it a member who pays membership cannot come and swim by themselves at any normal YMCA business hours?
The lanes are also big and it needs to be shared with others when it is open. That also causes issues with people who swims fast and slow. The other gyms keep smaller lanes for one person's use. This YMCA should consider to adapt that and keep at least few lanes open any time during business hours.

The facility is superior. Great, clean, up to date equipment and building. Major upgrade in recent years. You will enjoy the people and place. I would give it a 5 but their seems to be a personel problem locally. There are not enough folks working the floor of this very large facility.

Worst YMCA, too expensive but subpar facilities. Swimming pool is closed most of the time or have icy cold water. Shower’s are broken, shower rooms smell like sewage. Rude staff and management.

This is not the first time I’ve complaint about the horrible pool cleanliness. Today pool guard (Oct 4th, 2023. 5AM) not even care about what I have say about trash in the pool. It’s been 20 minutes since the time I’ve made a complaint and he is not even removing the “trash” yet. He is just sitting on the chair and couldn’t even care less. The audacity to charge my family hundred of dollars a month and doesn’t even care about what we have to say?

The good thing is having a pool, but the pool is almost always full. Repairs are needed for a lot of workout machines.

Disgusting attitude from staff. The place has gone down tremendously in terms of cleanliness, kindness & organisation. Rarely pick up phones and never have direct answers. A grown women that works there with hazelnut hair has the worst attitude I’ve ever encountered. Never coming here again! You’ve lost a yearly member and every contact I know. Had a 5 star review placed, replaced with this one after the consistent mistreatment this gym offers. The lifeguards there are good otherwise horrible branch that put a bad name to YMCA.

Quite a convenient Y. They have all of your basic workout needs on hand, as well as a pool, which is family-friendly.

They do the absolute bare minimum with every aspect of the y. They say hi to you when you walk in here and there and that’s about it. They have one of the meanest mangers iv ever met in my life working right behind the front desk. Her horrible personality is just sprinkling down to any employee that is in her path. Place needs a giant refresh and some new faces.
