Rather than call a professional service when there was a chemical imbalance in the outdoor pool, the manager tried to take care of it himself, making matters worse. The pool was closed for a week. Now, 3 weeks later, the pool is turning green again, with no plans yo address the issue.
But that's not all.
The locker rooms are disgusting, with mold and rust stains everywhere. The fluorescent lights are drab and make It look like an asylum. It is astounding this "club: is owned and operated by MGH. That is Man's Gift to Hospitals, in case you didnt know.
Shameful.

A grade A scam, ceilings leaking with filthy water. No heater in the heavy weights room and rusty hardware, but the best part is the broken heater in locker room, barely was able to change my clothes because of the freezing cold, impossible to shower or to use the Sauna. No signs that says broken heaters and freezing temps in the locker room.
Nobody would even mention any of it before signing up. And great resolution by the management (oh we can refund you) You shouldnβt even charge me to begin with!!!

A gym that belongs to the #1 hospital in the nation, is unable to purchase enough towels for everyone, (Towels shortage so you can use the same towel for the pool, jacuzzi and shower, use your clothes to dry off at this point) not sure how is the budget managed but for sure needs to be reviewed.

The outside pool is exceptional, but is open for a short season. The indoor athletic facility is unusable. There is mold and mildew present making any athletic activity a health hazard. Equipment is never cleaned and the locker rooms are breeding grounds for more bacterias than I can count. I was a member but cut my membership. It's not worth getting MRSA or a major lung infection.

Good place am visiting this center every weekends just need some renovations in men locker room as it look outdated, also some workout tools need to be replaced, generally it's a clean place However, my biggest concern was the state of the menβs locker room.During multiple visits, I noticed overflowing trash bins, damp towels left scattered on floors, and uncleaned surfaces. That said, management should reconsider making updates on the inside : roof walls ..especially reevaluate the locker room cleaning protocols. With a few tweaks, this could easily be a 5-star destination.

This is a cheap gym in the area and you get what you pay for. The equipment is outdated (and sometimes broken), the gym is located in a basement with poor air circulation, and there have been numerous issues (break-ins, heating issues, light/ceiling issues, etc.) in the few months I was a member. Most of the staff are fine, although a few members can be quite rude at times. The main reason I signed up for this gym was for the classes but they leave a lot to be desired. The instructors are not very personable and can be rude to new members who are not "regulars."

I don't often post reviews but I feel I must. I have had very pleasant experiences with most of the staff. The front desk girls are very professional, sweet and friendly like Ellen and Maren. They make you feel welcomed. But I have to say I was taking a Zumba class occasionally w Lynn and I have to say she doesn't represent you well. She's not very engaging. She is dismissive and can be rude. I stopped going to her class and it's still been on my mind ever since. I think she needs some better customer service skills. Another member had a similar experience and I just felt someone should know.

I use the facility just to lift. Well worth the cost for MGH employees. Almost never crowded.

The outdoor pool is one of the best in the city. The rest of the club leaves something to be desired. The indoor pool it tiny and a lot of the equipment is a bit outdated. The reason I got rid of my membership though was the state of their locker rooms. They are just downright gross. The showers area smells of mildew and there is visible mold. Panels are missing in the ceiling and the whole place feels like it needs a deep clean.

The Clubs at Charles River Park offer a well-rounded fitness experience with excellent facilities. The gym is equipped with modern machines and free weights, catering to all fitness levels. A wide range of group classes, from yoga to HIIT, ensures thereβs something for everyone. The swimming pool is clean and ideal for both exercise and relaxation. Staff members are friendly, professional, and always ready to help. The atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive, making it a great place for anyone looking to stay active. Parking can be a bit challenging during peak times, but overall, it's a fantastic fitness center.

Love the facility. Staff is great and the equipment is good. There are 2 pools; indoor is open year round and the outdoor is a summer pool.

It's a great gym but the music's too loud, especially in the back room with the machines. If you bring your own headphones, you'll still hear their music. It's kinda hard to concentrate. Hopefully they can turn it down a little!
Edit: wait nevermind they turned it off I guess?

I go here for the indoor pool. It's maybe 15 meters? 3 lanes. Noticably shorter than half olympic. If you're near a YMCA or one of the university pools those are probably better for serious lap swim, but this is serviceable, super convenient, and not busy at all on weekday mornings. Have to reserve time in advance; half hour blocks. Rest of the gym seems nice. Lots of MGH folks and an emphasis on personal training services.

Charles River Park is a relaxing health and fitness oasis in the center of the city with two pools (typically with multiple free lanes), excellent classes, trainers and equipment. Although it will undergo outside pool deck renovations soon, it is maintaining interior pool access and swim times/classes. I recommend the water aerobics sessions for low impact/high resistance non-stop fun! It's a pleasure to see families enjoying time in their cabanas - often returning year after year to commune and barbecue poolside.

The indoor pool is pretty small, very much looking forward to the outdoor pool when the weather is warm. Staff is really friendly, lots of equipment as well. It's a little chilly in there these days however it's tough to find a lap pool that you get a lane to yourself.

This gym is located in the basement with most of the gym equipment as outdated as the facility. Not only that, once I canceled my membership, they continued to charge me two weeks after and when I reached out for some clarification, they responded in a very passive-aggressive and rude way. For the hefty price you pay for the access to this subpar gym, I would recommend using that money and finding a way better gym for half of its price. The only reason I didn't give this place a one star review is because the trainers are nice.

I guess it's ok for the membership price? The pool is pretty small for lap swimming. Has an 80s feel like that John Travolta / Jamie Lee Curtis movie. Staff was nice, tons of lockers. The clients tho... A lady kicked me out of my swim lane even though I still had 4min left. I guess you can't control rude Bostonians from showing up in public places. I personally wouldn't recommend this place at least for swimming.

Has everything you need for a complete workout. Staff is friendly but some things need repair, small things but they make a difference with little effort. The timer by the indoor swimming pool is not working (for a few months now) and the menβs locker room needs some work.
